I was recently lucky enough to be offered a Google Nexus 7 Tablet to review. At first I thought of passing as this family has enough electronics. Then I realized it was actually the perfect thing to review since we do like our electronics.

Enough of the techy stuff on to the good stuff.

Review

I LOVE IT! How is that for a review? Ok fine, I will go into more detail. I won’t lie, we own the tablet from that fruit company so I was curious to how I would like the Google Nexus 7 tablet compared to it. Right off the bat I was in love when it asked me to sign into my google account upon start up. BOOM right there at my fingertips was easy access to my email and everything else google.

Once I was all set up I went to the play store and downloaded my favourite app called Cozi. This is the app I use to keep everything in sync for my family, shopping lists to appointments it is in this app to keep me organized. What was SUPER awesome about the Google Nexus 7 Tablet is I got to set Cozi up as an actual widget. Right there on my screen in plain view at all times are all my upcoming appointments I need to remember. That alone had me sold on the Google Nexus 7 tablet. You can not beat widgets having your information right there for you at a glance at all times.

Then we started installing games, social media apps, you know the usual. They are fast to load, smooth to play and the video is pretty darn amazing. I really like that when I get a new email, tweet or facebook notification a little icon pops up at the top of the tablet letting me know I have them so should go check them out.

My favourite part of the tablet though, how user friendly it is. My 5 year old was on it in no time and playing games and watching videos on it like he had been on it for years. It is now our go to electronic to keep the 5 year old occupied when he needs some down time.

Last but certainly not least, the size of the Google Nexus 7 tablet is PERFECT. I may or may not have been caught using it in bed multiple times. It is also the perfect size for ebook reading. Not to mention how light it is. Can just slip it in my purse and off I go with it at the ready to keep kids occupied at a doctor appointment or for me to check in to my social media when I hit a wifi spot.

Full disclosure: Staples.ca provided me with the Google Nexus 7 for review. The thoughts and opinions expressed are strictly my own and no other compensation was received.

Hey look, I am doing Random Tuesday Thoughts again, miss them?

* My sister’s bachelorette party was this week-end. I am getting old. The party was Saturday night and I slept all Sunday evening and a lot of Monday.

* Speaking of the bachelorette party. I told everyone NO strippers. Just not my thing and in this family we have noting to do with them. Well doesn’t some guy come running into the restaurant room we were in announcing our stripper was here.

I could feel my face turning red as I was all WTF. Ends up he was in the other side of the restaurant and heard there was a party going on so just wanted to come over and congratulate the bride. He was a great sport letting me take his picture for the blog. FYI all clothes remained on though I do think he flashed some ankle for those who asked.

* Big Brother started soccer with an actual soccer club. He LOVED it. Tobei said he outplayed all the other kids on his team. Think I may have a little soccer star on my hands.

* Little Brother is growing up way too fast. Nothing is safe from him anymore. I used to hide remotes on the back of the couch. Now he climbs the couch like a ninja.

* I am going to try to be more positive and start off my mornings greeting the new day instead of moping that it is morning already. As long as the coffee is ready this should not be too hard of a daily goal.

* Though I am doing the whole positive thing my heart breaks for those in Oklahoma. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

When I first started blogging a came across a blog called The Bipolar Diva. She is an amazing woman and we bonded quickly. Though she suffers from some dark demons of her own her and her husband live a life of giving to others. They have dedicated their lives to their children, many of which they have adopted. When I was raising funds to attend Blissdom Canada 2010 she was there to donate what she could to get me there. When I was at the court house dealing with getting custody of Big Brother she was on the phone with me the entire time. When it was the middle of the night and I was worried about Little Brother who was 3 months old and sick she jumped on facetime with me to give me her advice. She has been a great support to me through everything I have been through even when going through her own troubles. Many times I wish I could reach through the computer and hug her.

Their family has suffered many tragic events and have stayed strong together. They have been hit by another horrible event testing their strength and ability to join together and overcome it. Her husband Jeff was in a motorcyle accident. You can read about the accident here https://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/bjb2/jeffworley.

It hurts my heart that they are suffering yet another hit to their family. Though I am so thankful Jeff is still with us. However Jeff is the sole provider for their family. If you can please donate to help them with medical bills and day to day bills while they band together to get Dad better. If you can’t please share their story. Let’s spread the word and help a family who is always there to help others.

Saskatoon is a charming city set in the heart of prairie lands. Its relative isolation means that its residents have always been a resourceful and persistent bunch! We’ve picked three of the most interesting stories of Saskatchewans carving out unique niches in Canadian history. Do these daring projects make you feel inspired?

Grace Fletcher and the City that Buffalo Bones Built

Grace Fletcher is noted as the city’s first industrialist. Her trade consisted of exporting buffalo bones for the manufacture of fertiliser. Taking advantage of the buffalo bones that were scattered across the prairies, Fletcher raised enough funds to move into real estate and establish herself as one of the most powerful individuals in the young city. A prominent member of Saskatoon’s Methodist church board, she is also noted as being Saskatoon’s first advocate for releasing voting rights to women.

Norman Falkner and One Legged Figure Skating

A Saskatchewan since birth, soldier Norman Falkner returned from WWI with only one leg. Showing remarkable persistence and ingenuity, Falkner did not retire from his hobby of ice skating, but was determined to find a way to continue performing his routines on only one leg! Although he required a push to gain initial speed on the ice, Falkner’s ice routine was so remarkable that he became a celebrity who could draw large audiences to his performances. His career continued for fifteen years.

Making a Mountain for the 1971 Winter Games

In order to be able to host the 1971 Winter Olympic Games, the city needed to build a mountain for downhill skiers to be able to compete on. In fact, the whole surrounding area of Blackstrap lake is man-made, including the dam that has greatly influenced the building of the city. Other sports thrive there around the lake, including fishing, canoeing, waterskiing and swimming. Biking and mountain biking also take place along the sandy lake shore. There are now plans for the Mount Blackstrap to be re-opened, and the man leading the campaign is a British Columbian named Torey Spink, who is prepared to invest between $5 and $8 million in the project. You can visit the area by checking in at Saskatoon hotels.

Saskatoon is a great place to visit if you want a relaxing getaway that’s still active. You can alternate between trying new sports and visiting spas such as Damara Day Spa, where a full range of therapeutic and beautifying treatments are available.
