Stop Talking
You can't listen if you're talking.
Put Speakers At Ease
Help them feel they're free to talk. This is often called a permissive environment.
Show That You Want To Listen
Look and act interested (even if they can't see you). Don't read mail while the other person talks. Listen to understand rather than to oppose.
Remove Distractions
Don't doodle, tap or shuffle papers. What can you do to make it quieter?
Empathize With the Speaker
Try to put yourself in the speaker's place so you can see his/her point of view. Say things like "I imagine I'd have questions about this, too." or "I know if this happened to me, I'd probably be upset."
Be Patient
Don't start to end the conversation before the speaker is ready. Allow plenty of time. Don't interrupt.
Hold Your Temper
Anger creates the wrong meaning from words.
Go Easy on Argument and Criticism
Arguing and criticizing put the other person on the defensive. They may stop talking or get angry.

Troubles calling form.submit()

Apparently you can't have an element with an id of submit in a form and call form.submit()

It will try calling that element as a function rather than invoking the form.submit method

agree is not a function

so if the form has an element named agree

agree is not a valid function name in the onsubmit

I have started to play around with creating a project on code.google.com and now have a project setup at

this Generator will generate DAO, beans, controllers, the edit page, the grid page, along with the folder structure. Check it out to learn more, it still is a work in progress but I think its a good start to just exploring some Coldfusion fun.

Fieldsets are used to break up forms into sections
Legends are used to title those sections
Labels give focus to the input(helps usability and 508 standards)
Input...I hope everyone knows what an input is
Span helps with other minor areas

Also maybe some list elements for breaking the data up more, I prefer it to tables

Figured I would say something as it has been a while. I have been busy with Jade, finding a different place to live and work. I do plan to post more eventually but it will be for a while, when it does happen it will only be at my main instead of blogger, I have been checking through a few coldfusion based blog setups and hoping to decide on one soon, but I am very picky something with not wanting to update it ever again after I figure out which one I want.

This is a story that I have been meaning to tell for a while it involves several characters. I met a girl last year on July 3rd, she sounded like a really great person. She took up a trip where she received a souvenir. She has been living with me the last few months since around last Sept. I have been recently reflecting upon these changes that have happened and the joys that come along with everything. She has told me a tail of her life and the men in her life. I appreciate everything she has done. As I think of the situation with her husband, the father, and finding my place in this relationship I see that my place is to be a friend more than anything else. Now has she has had a little child that has come out on April 1st, at 4:47AM. Within a few hours her husband was coming up to stay for a few days from a break in the Navy and see the new addition. Looking around this just gives me hope for the two of them as seeing all three of them become a family again and re ignite the spark that can bond them closer than anything else ever could. I see my new role in all of this and my eyes are open fully to see the wonders that the future may hold for this new again family has they have the ability to work things out.
I have a lot of respect for these two as they do try to work things out and I am just wishing them the best. The girl will be leaving me in a few months to rejoin with her husband as he gets a place for the new family. Raising a child is such a fun event that I hope they never take it for granted to just see the possibilities to know that fact you just might raise and shape a very important figure for an important occupation out in the world. I am a friend and the birthing partner.

I keep meaning to finish this, it has been sitting as a saved item for a while, just festering as it may happen to be well.

My name is Josh Knutson originally from Brooten, MN. I lived at the homestead till I was 18 or so, trying to fill whatever roles I had to fill. At the age of 8...or was it 9 I received a kidney transplant, the kidney that I received was given to me in a little box courtesy of my mother:) I went to school at BBE. I worked at the Wilmar Wal-Mart during some of my high school years as I eventually transferred to the Alexandria Wal-Mart when I started the tech college there.

I went to college in Alexandria at the ATC. I graduated twice, once for Computer Programming and the next year I graduated from Web Development Programming. I did have many good times up in Alexandria, none that I would have trade in for anything else, I tried having the majority of events revolve my friends. If someone could win over my friends then chances are they could win me over. As I sometimes like to reflect back to all the little gatherings my roommate Allison and I would have had to have been some really good times indeed. Something always warms my heart and soul to just sit there and visit with friends for hours on end, well I normally would try just listening as I find myself particularly uneventful, but most people do it seems. During the second year or my College expenditure several friends and I decided to join BPA, the competitions that we participated in we actually did decent from that we had going on. We went to nationals which were held down in Florida. The third year I was in college I was once again in BPA but for this year we traveled to New York for the National Competition.

I graduated and decided to take a road trip down to the New Mexico and Mexico area from Minnesota in my pickup. When I got back I picked up a job in Lakeville, MN at the company of IMAGETREND and have had a good time with that so far.

In July of 2007 I met a girl one time when I was visiting friends up in St. Cloud as it was somewhat a halfway between Alexandria and Lakeville in an obscure way. Well I met a girl there that in some way I swear put a spell on me that captivated me, and I just wanted to know a little more information about Ashley. In any case as the story goes, I fell for her, she fell for me. She became pregnant...and I'm jumping out of my skin awaiting the arrival of a new child to have in my life. The opportunities in life can be so endless only if we take advantage what we have around us, to be so content with life that you feel extreme satisfaction in life.

I'll put in a different post of why I am blogging and how I might be able to help a few people out there that need some help occasionally.

excuses, excuses, excuses

Yes I realize that I am really behind on blogging lately, I could say a lot of reason of why but they are all excuses. Maybe my computer is just too far away from me sometimes. In any case I have been busy at work, busy at home it seems. Deer hunting is almost upon me which I am excited about. I keep meaning to throw up some code examples especially some xlst things which I have been working on but sometimes they don't work the best for me...especially when I am trying to run away from tables.

Oh at work I had to use stylevision and I want to know who makes a product to work with code where you can't actually edit the source. There were so many times where it was faster just to open the sps file in Textpad or Notepad++ and edit the elements in there. Since sometimes I think stylevision has its own mind and you have to bend to its will, which really isn't a good thing as creativity can be restricted.

On My website I removed the Other page but it still kinda exists but not its usual form. Since I wanted the more important links to be seen at first glance thats why you can now view my places on the web on the sidebar. I am still debating if I should do an update to the site. I am uncertain as what I should do, maybe I'll just grab a template from some other site.

Arms Wide Open

I've been working on this blog entry for a while so bear with me for a bit.

The back story would be my current girlfriend that I have been dating for a while, whose name is Ashley, has become pregnant.

I have been thinking a lot of where my life will take me and if I am ready to fully take care of two people. I know how to take care of a child. Just the woman I am not sure if I know what to do. I know I just gotta keep strong and be what I can to take care of them the best that I can. Many things will change in a short time it seems. I just can't let the insecurities get the better of me that any father that isn't ready for it has. I am really excited, I just don't know if I can be the man I have to be. Within in my heart is so much hope for the future and I just have so many hopes that I can really do all the things expected of me.

A huge change for me is for one of the few times of my life I am so uncertain of the future and down right scared so many times that I almost think I could break down, but I know I won't because I just don't work that way. So much dedication flows through my bones right now that I know I can't be careless, now more than ever, but I know that if I do focus upon anything for too long I will get clumsy and start slipping. I realize things might be tough for Ashley and me for a while.
The sacrifices that I am trying to make is for the long run as I try to adjust to my current situation so I do apologize ahead of time for disappointing anybody out there. Anyone that knows me well enough will see that I get much joy of helping someone and same with entertaining children. Now I get the blessing of having one of my own and theres this strange comfort that comes over me that also calms me at the same time. Now to help change the world yet again, no matter how small it may seem.
