This obvious tiling is cause by textures that are not seamless. So the question is how to create seamless texture.

Here is how its done in Photoshop

Step 1: Load the texture

Step 2: Go to Filter and click other. Select Offset in the options.

Step 3: Adjust horizontal and vertical offset until you see the noticeable seam.
Notice by doing this. The edges of original texture both vertically and horizontally were shifted.

Step 4: Use Patch tool.

Select the seamed area and drag it to another area.

Step 5: Use Clone stamp tool.

You can also use the clone stamp tool by taking some sample and stamping in on the areas you need to correct.

Thats it!

Below shows the corrected texture. The obvious seam was corrected.

Below shows the effect of the seamless texture
I decided to play with the realistic frame that you can do using this software and use them as projected texture in SKetchUp. Here is how I did it.

Step1: Foto-Sketcher frames

First I open the Foto-Sketcher and loaded some of the photos I wanted to turn into digital art and then chosen "Add Frame". In the Frame Parameters, you can create your different types of frames. Once you are happy save your file. You can also do your photos in batch..

Step 2: Sketchup Workflow

Create a rectangular face in SketchUp. Now import the jpg texture and tick "use as texture".

Drag the texture to the face. It will automatically apply as texture. Adjust the size of your face based on the proportion of your image.

Next you need to right click on the face, select texture and tick "projected"

Next you need to use the offset tool and place the offset lines to the inside of the frame and pictures. Use push pull tool to give them depths. (See below image)

For the outside frame, you can add an arc closed face. (See below image)

Select the outside lines and use "Follow me tool"

Here is the completed model
.

Now reapply the texture (click+alt) to apply to the whole model at once.

Here is the textured model.

Do as many as you can and you can use them in your scene. The advantage of baked textures is its realistic and quick to render. The image was rendered less than 10 minutes.

First of all, I want to introduce this Facebook page "SketchUp Texture" in which Rosanna Mataloni has put up. I am now working together with Rosanna on this page. So please visit us and download great textures, links and tutorials. I am using my textures that came directly from this page.

The texture of the pillow can be downloaded on an album called rectangular pillows HERE

This tutorial is an intermediate to advanced SketchUp tutorial, so I expect you during this time that you know the tools and scripts I am using.

Step 1. Load Texture, trace the outline using line tool. you dont have to be precised here.

Step 2. Delete the outer face

Step 3. Use Push/pull tool to extrude the face (Be sure the texture is projected texture). TIP 1. It is better to have a rectangle face on one side as dummy and apply the sample texture here. If you jumbled your texture in organic modeling, you can always sample this face.

Step 4. Use Offset tool and offset the outline.

Step 5. Erase unwanted lines from the corner. you just need the middle face.

Step 6. Use autofold. (Move tool + Alt) move the face upward (You can repeat step 5 and 6 for more detailing.

Step 7. Before erasing the underneath face, you need to select the outline and copy it and place it on one side you can also copy the face. We will use this as tubular trim around the pillow. Now erase the underneath face before applying SAS plugin.

Step8. Use Subdivide and Smooth plugin and use Iteration 1 (The texture will be jumbled)

Step9. Reapply the texture using (right click mouse +Alt). TIP 2 - You can reapply the texture at once by right clicking and holding the Alt key at the same time.

Step 10. Use sculpt tools to relax, push and pool some faces, my brush settings below.

Step 10: Here is my sculpted model. (Create a component)

Step 11. Once the component was created, copy this and mirror it using scale tool.

Step 12. Before I made a component, I copied the underneath side of my model, Create a face and use Subdivide and Smooth with 1 iteration. Use line to cylinder to create the tube. Move this created tube in between the two components.

Step13. Explode the whole model. Select some areas and move a bit these areas using scale tool. This way you can vary the pillow further.

Step 14. Finally, smooth again Smooth and Subdivide with 1 iteration. This will be your final model. Re-apply again the texture using Step 9.

Step15. Correcting the texture. You will see that there are some flaws on the texture, the white outline of the texture model is showing.

Step 16. Edit the image using Photoshop. Under Edit tab, look at the icon "box with orange arrow". Click this to edit your texture in Photoshop. TIP 3. To automatically open Photoshop as your post processing. Go to "Preference/ Application/ the choose the Photoshop.exe to load here)

Step17. Use patch tool, clone stamp tool to reapply some texture to the white areas. I will do a separate tutorial with this one.

Here is my completed texture. Exit and save the image. This image will be saved in the TEMP folder.

You will see that those white stuff were gone.

Here is the rendered image.

My first render with Vray SketchUp and Podium

I was browsing some of my old photos and I came up to see some of my oldest output with VRAY SketchUp and Podium engines. Honestly, I grinned with smile. I still remember those happy days of producing renders, I felt like Superman... Of course I could see that other newbies have far far more respectable output with these. On the other hand specially with Vray, we do not even have Manual then and the funny ASGVIS logo was still there.

Here is one of my very first output with Vray Sketchup1.0. Notice the logo. This was the first beta trial of Vray SketchUp with the funny Asgvis logo to the right left corner. I remember at that time too, I could not control the mapping. If you will see the painting, it was actually repeating. It should not. The pillow in the middle should have mapping too, but I cant control it. Anyhow it was nice to remember.

This is one of my first trial with materials. Trying to see the effect of reflection and refraction.

I think this was really one of my first try with Vray SketchUp 1.0 with respectable output. Notice the painting, I was actually stuck with UV... it drove me crazy. I actually gave up VRAY SketchUp for around three months after my trial expired.

With podium, the following renders were my very first render and posted in the forums...This was I beleive in year 2003. I believe, I was still using SKetchUp 4.0 by @Last not even Google at that time.

Most of my personal projects and designs were visulized using SkethUp and Podium Render.

I returned with Vray SketchUp after they update it and I had a chance to try the next version. This time they removed the watermark. After joining the ASGVIS forums and ability to control UV. The below render was the one that attracted me with VraySketchUp.

Rendered with VraySu 1.33

Compared with my previous render with Podium

From then I slowly became more used to with Vray SketchUp. Below were some of my renders (actual projects, hobbies and test render)

Only Emissive Lighting ( this is the render where I found that increasing the HSPH subdivision could actually removed those splotches when using emissive materials.

Set up

Tracing that hood. I dont know exactly the name of this part.

push the farthest edge

Adding arcs

Curviloft

Adding some more body

Extending the top part. Roof is just a simple rectangle with arc. Then pushed upward. I thne applied round corner. I will only model half because later I will copy this and create a mirror.

This is an Ifugao Mask from the Northern part of Philippines. This will be our reference image in this tutorial.

Step 1: Trace the outline
Trace the outline of th mask, tracing can be faceted. It does not matter.See the image below.

Step 2: Push Pull
After tracing the whole image, we can push pull it with desired height. Tracing images will always have projected texture. If projected texture in not on then right click and tick projected texture.

Step 3: Offset tool
Select the outside boundary of the top face and use the offset tool. (see image below).

Step 4: Autofold
To enable autofold function, select the face and then use the move tool and at the same time press Alt.

Step 5: Trace the eyes.
I traced the eye like the below image. Then I created the hole.

Then push the other part like the below image.

I then move some of the below lines to the upper lines to create some slopes. I did the same thing with the other eye and the mouth.

Step 6. Tracing the nose
Next I traced the nose. (see the image below)

I push again the whole thing up (see image)

I selected some of the lines (see highlighted lines below)

and move them to the below lines.

Here is so far the model.

Step 7: Tracing the details.
I traced some of the details and pushed them a bit. now we are ready to subdivide. I would like you to notice the line near the mouth.

This is the subdivided mesh. Notice the abruptness of the subdivision near the mouth. This because there is big area below the mouth and the distance between the edge of the mouth and side is too small. The lines diverged on that area whilst you can see some abruptness.

Next I added another line. To separate that area with the rest.

Now the subdivision is smoother.

Here is the complete subdivided model

Here is the wireframe

I painted the texture.

Here is the render.
Since Christmas is coming, I decided to do Christmas models particularly from the Philippines. This model is easy and can be done in multiple approaches. However, I would like to share my workflow especially in using some scripts that automates the steps. I would like to introduce 2 useful scripts; "convert lines to tubes" and "extrude lines along vector" which are both free. HERE is a good place to download them.

Step 1. The model
Here is a 2d model of the parol that I will be modeling.

Step 2: Tracing the Lines
Since we have the reference image, all we need is to trace each lines. I applied semi transparent material so that I can see what I am tracing below. After tracing on part, I will copy and rotate it 4 times.

Here is the finished lines and arcs

Step 3: Convert Lines into tubes
Using the script convert lines into tubes, I will convert the traced lines into cylinders basically.

In order to optimize the number of sides, I only used precision 4 (4 sides)

Here is an image showing the converted lines into tubes.

Close up

Step 4: Copying, mirroring and adding the sides.
I copied the completed face and made it into component. Then I flipped the copy using mirror tool. I added the sides using "extrude line along vector". Again this is a shortcut of doing faces.

Here is the finish model.

Details
Here is a simple quick workflow on how to do it quickly.

One of the best thing in SkechUp is the ability to project the image.

Step 1: Importing reference image.

Step 2: Tracing the outside boundary using line tool
All you have to do is to use line tool and trace the boundary of the Tshirt, then
pulling it with push pull tool.

Step 3. Adding subdivision

To add subdivision, simply copy the bounding edges (not the face) and paste it twice (see the image below)

Step 4: Re-scale the top and bottom face.
Rescale the top and bottom face. Hold the control key so that the scale anchor point will be in the middle.

You can also use round corner "bevel face" by Fredo here.

Step 5: Beveled Faces

Step 6: Paint Projected image
You can now paint the model using projected image option. This is important for tracing the other parts of the T-shirt.

Step 7: Repositioning edges

In the image below, I repositioned some of the lines to follow the contour of shirt.

Step 8: Tracing the neckline

Here I traced the neckline.

Step 9: Push pulling some parts of the neckline

After tracing the neckline and offsetting it, I used push pull tool to add depth and height. Here you can see the different heights without the projected image.

Step 10: Tracing the sleeve
Trace the sleeve and push pull one more time.

Step 11: Reposition again some of the lines

Here is the Raw Model without smoothing. Generally you can even use this with projected image and soften edges. If your model is far from the camera, this is more than enough to fool the viewers eye.

Step 12: Smoothing

For high poly models that you want to use even near the camera, we can further sub-smooth the models. All we need to do it to select the model and subdivide it with 2 iterations.

Here is the result

Step 13: Further sculpting
Once again using the sculpt tool script made by BTM. Download it for free HERE

Here is the finish model

RENDERED VIEWS

Hope this will encourage you to model and not keep on looking everywhere for models.

My province, Pampanga is a well known place to celebrate Christmas. We have the giant lanterns and even had once Paskuhan village where you can see Christmas the whole year round. My favorite is "Simbang Gabi" or evening mass. After the mass my favorite place where the "bibingkahan" ( the store where they sell bibingka "a special bread they only serve during Christmas". I remember "Aling Mereng Bibingkahan" wow that was memorable. I want to model these traditional scenery where I can eat bibingka and drink "salabat" (ginger hot drink).

Some WIP images

Sketchup model. Here is like a traditional oven made of terra cotta. They usually bake the bibingka using charcoal both below and on top.
