She died sometime over the Thanksgiving Day weekend of what they say were natural causes...she was 81 at the time. Her health was never really good, but she seemed to go on and on the same way over her last few years and looked perfectly fine when mother delivered her groceries before we left for Dallas. After we got back, and a couple of days later, the meals on wheels person contacted mother and said they knocked on NoMo's door and got no answer again just as the day before. Mother (NoKe) called the police and they broke in by climbing in a window and found her lifeless in her bed. Dusty was still in the house and had been the whole time. NoKe apparently inherited Dusty now and he began living at her house...as if he didn't already. The cops originally took Dusty to the dog pound and left him there and mother, with a tear in her eye, waved goodbye to him..."bye Dusty." Later that day, and feeling guilty, Mother went down to the animal shelter and got Dusty back and brought him home. Dusty didn't make it long as Mother killed him. He made her mad but that wasn't the reason...so we are led to believe. No really he had a terrible hernia and suffered from the same problem that Marley did in "Marley and Me". Both were Labradors and both had irreparably twisted intestinal ailments that made them both very sick and Dusty was certainly in great pain. So mother took him to the vet and the only cure was to put him down. At this time mother couldn't do it, which was good because Dusty came home and was his happy go lucky self again until a week later when he began moaning . That was it for Dusty...one month of bliss at mothers house and then to the final dog pound in the sky. There is more to this story of NoMo and Dusty's final years and I'll get to it when I'm good and ready.

Tomcat part 3

Another thought that occurred to me was that had I taken the cat to a different shelter farther away, the owner would have never thought to look there. The humane society is the closest shelter to Leroy’s house and on his same road.

That tip was on the animal shelter website. And any moron should know that. But if you think it was an abandoned cat or stray (like you thought) I was suggesting the no-kill facility. Like I said they had one 23 years ago, and figured there were possibly more now.

I said it looked like it was taken care of in some way, but its roams into other area's that its not supposed to. Not all animals taken to the shelter are killed, ie Count and Ginger. Animal control is called for many of these critters that aren't tagged and are roaming free, and would have happened to this cat if not shot first. Sorry I didn't use some of mothers money to put up flyers and buy gas so I could search for days for the owner of this selfish bully.

Hmmmmm, “mothers money…..” It just occurred to me, you really should have shown more compassion for this cat because you and household pets share a lot of commonalities. You do nothing worthwhile with the time you have been given on this planet, you expect everything provided for free (food, clothing, shelter) and give nothing back, you will eat too much just because its there, sleeping is a hobby, (and keeping the same hours as the nocturnal cat), lack of exercise because ~ why bother??, no insurance, no money - Its uncanny really, the similarities!

Take some Midol.

If the shoe fits ………

What shoe?

…. word

Explanation of Tomcat

Okay, this is an explanation of whats going on here. NoMo hasn't been a lot of fun lately and hasn't had much going on that is worth telling so I'm slightly veering off here onto a new tangent. The Tomcat thing is about some emails between myself and LaurieO about a tomcat found at Lero's house that was stealing all the food from the other two cats and causing them to either starve or move on. No one knows who the cat belonged to but it looked pretty healthy and Lero has been trying to get rid of it for a long time now. The other cats are somewhat wild and don't come near people much so feeding them isn't easy. Then with this tomcat, feeding them is impossible, he eats the food left out for them and then goes away till the next morning. Lero is kind of a softy and has been feeding these wild cats for a long time and doesn't need the tomcat screwing it all up for them. So the next few posts are about that...LaurieO is in the blue font and she is cat fixated. Read tomcat part 1 first and then part 2 even though they are posted out of order.

TomCat Part two

The place in Springdale that we used for this birddog that adopted us in 1983 was called Adopt-A-Pet. He was a sweet dog that wandered up and played with Bowsey and thought he would stay. We ran “Dog Found” ads for about a month. We probably would have done it longer except he found pooh-poohed-pampers in the trash can from the neighbors house and would shred them in the yard, daily!! We found Adopt-A-Pet and took him there. We would bring him Old Post Office leftovers every week and feed him through the fence at the shelter. Finally, someone adopted him. It turned out to be someone who lived behind the courthouse / old-movie-theater <if>. Didn’t take long for that dog to high-tail it across 71 and get back over to our house (even after being at Adopt-a-pet a couple months). We then put an ad in the paper for a “free bird dog.” We found it a really nice home out by Hogeye at an older couple’s farm. They had a dog run and everything. We went out there too with left overs for a while. Anyway, I just could never take an animal to the pound turn around and go home. I’m talking about me here, I would have to try to make an effort even if it was a small effort.

And yes there are no-kill shelters here.

Tomcat First Part

I got to capture a cat today after it failed to run under my car tires at Leroys house. I thought you might like to know about it.

With the Raccoon trap? Mother mentioned the humane society – but no one goes to the pound looking for a cat…. The owner just assumes its dead, which it will be if left at the humane society. You might want to check with the neighbors.

Most people up there just shoot the tomcats that get into their stuff...and the neighbors are hard to find among all the farms. If the owner doesn't care what happens to him then should I? He's been forcing the other two cats to starve.

Whatever ….. typical from you

What would you have done about a stingy cat that roams...asked the owner, after a long search, to make it an inside cat so it won't stray? What else was there to do?

Most farmers want and need a good mouser. Why do you think LeRoy has cats in his barn? If you made an ounce of effort you could have either, found the proper owner and warned him that the cat would end up in the pound the next time, or offered it to any farmer around there as a mouser. All that’s required is to put some dry food out time to time to keep it around, mousing. I guess what really amazes me is how you take a task and reduce it to the most minimal of efforts. That’s what gets me. Because I’m sure my suggestions make you roll your eyes because it requires doing something instead of just going the easiest route possible.

Door to door cat give away? What happens when it goes right back to Leroys house and eats all the cat food again leaving the other without any? They won't go near the food when he's there. I'm not going to use all day trying to find the owner. Obviously food and mice weren't enough to keep the cat home in the first place so how would it be different if I gave him to someone else?

Well, what I’m very sure about is that you did the research and drove the extra couple of miles to put it in to a facility that doesn’t euthanize. Oh right, I’m talking to you – which ever is closest, easiest, and doesn’t take away from your “oh-so-busy” day. No other thoughts are processed on the matter.

Well, after you bitched so much, I put the Tomcat on a bus to Dallas...you may pick it up at the Dallas bus station in the morning and take it to your house and give it its own room with a TV to keep it company. Just make sure your other cat doesn't die of starvation while the Tomcat eats all of its food. Does Dallas have a place that doesn't euthanize? Do they keep the cats till they die of old age? Do you have a grip on reality?

Are you in that much of a black hole you don’t even know what is in your community? 25 years ago we took a dog to a facility in Fayetteville/Springdale, that doesn’t euthanize. Does your incredible laziness control your every thought and movement (or lack therof)? What a stupid question.
This is the one I wanted to send, but didn’t

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

What goes around comes around. Just remember the Tomcat. when you are needing to believe in the kindness of strangers or help from others, don’t be surprised when someone gathers you in only to hand you off to an organization that’s charter is to kill you or sell you to scientific research lab. When you don’t have the means or wherewithal to control your own destiny, well, good luck.

You seem to have a gross misconception of what the humane society does and the volume of unwanted stray animals roaming the streets. It would be nice if there was a place that could take care of a million cats without homes, but the reality is that they would be fighting among themselves for what available food sources there were, and some of the weaker older cats would starve to death. Cats are hunters and killers and don't like to share. I know thats not what you want to hear. So if you have a realistic plan for saving all the stray animals in the world lets hear it. I don't think there is a place with enough money to manage it all. Euthanizing is the most humane thing to do under the circumstances, and there is always the chance the owner will look at the humane society first for the lost pet, or if the owner doesn't come, someone may adopt...they aren't just warehoused and killed for no reason. You might look and try to find a place in Dallas that takes care of these animals, and if you don't find one there, then it definitely doesn't exist here. Ask Leroy about it...he's been trying to chase this cat away for quite awhile and would have had Wally shoot it at some point...so I did the best thing I could think of...I guess I'm sorry that I'm a heartless lazy bastard in your eyes...so come on Karma, bring it on!

I understand you want to change the topic to something bigger, and in your mind, a more worthwhile debate. Even though your comments were educationaI I was not particularly needing to re-examine the instinctual attributes of cats, or was I initiating a worldwide plan that provides shelter to all the strays in the world, nor was I needing to know the “mission statement” and “business rules” of the humane society. No, all these topics were a very informative “refresher” on crap I already know, but the obvious thing here is your attempt at deflecting the question which was in short; Did you make a single effort on behalf of this one particular cat to find its owner or put in a non-euthanizing shelter, and the answer is no, That’s all I was getting at.

NoMo Update

I last wrote that NoMo was still in Generations being evaluated by the psychologist there and was believing in terrorists hijacking the phone system. Since then, she has been to court, which did nothing to her, and is back home. The hospital gave her some more medicine and she seems to be acting more normal than before. I don't think she has given up on the terrorist thing, but doesn't mention it so much anymore, and she is involved with selling some of her antiques at auction which seems to be her new focus. We all thought the judge was going to throw the book at her, but it seems that he took the psychologist's recommendations and let her do what the psychologist wants, which is more of the same...get ready for a repeat next summer. Mother did say that NoMo thought she was dying the other night. NoMo said that she took all her pills on an empty stomach, and because she wasn't wearing her glasses, didn't know what pills she took. After she had a sandwich, her symptoms lessened and the emergency was over. It doesn't seem to be hard to figure out why she felt bad, but its a mystery to her still. She called mother and wanted her to help her with the emergency and mother suggested that NoMo make a sandwich which miraculously cured her illness. Mother always knows what to do. So far NoMo seems to be acting somewhat normal so the updates might begin to be a little thin again, though if mother were to write this blog it might get more interesting.

Episcopalian Lady

On thursday, NoMo called mother around 10 a.m. from Generations and implored her to get over there right away because something important was happening. The nurse's aide, in the background, told NoMo that she couldn't have any visitors till after one in the afternoon. Mother heard this on the phone and then heard NoMo yelling at the aide. Anyway, mother went down there around one or so and found out NoMo had nothing important to say again. One thing that happened was that NoMo had a visit from some lady from the Episcopalian church. She was sent by someone from the hospital on a mercy mission, I guess. She was a very nice lady NoMo said. Mother was there for that, and later said that NoMo was telling the church lady all about how the terrorists were hijacking the phone system in Fayetteville. NoMo even thought the terrorists knew that she knew about it and were bugging her phone. Mother said that NoMo was trying to get the FBI in on the deal since George Bush's phone must be blocked too, according to NoMo's extensive investigation of the matter. Mother also said that Generations is allowing NoMo only two outgoing calls a day and that they're limited to around five minutes each. Mother is just loving that and wishes it could go on and on. Mother now has almost all day to spend with Dusty and is so happy.

Back to Generations

This post is not from mother, she lies right to my face when she says she will write the latest happenings with NoMo. So now NoMo is back in Generations, the mental health facility for Northwest Arkansas, and how this happened was kind of interesting. NoMo was home and her leg hurt so she called the EMS to come and get her. They were taking her to Washington Regional but she didn't want to go there, she had worn out her welcome. She wanted to go to Springdale Memorial but the paramedics refused, so she wound up at WRMC. She was not happy about this at all, nor was the hospital, but they checked her in and helped her with her leg. They were also trying to talk her into going back to Generations since in her manic stage she was a major pain in the ass. She would order people around and yell at them for not doing what she wanted, and even went so far as to call George Bush to help her with the phone company, but thats another story. I think the thing that landed her in Generations this time, the hospital finally convinced her to go, was that she was talking about how the terrorists were taking over the phone lines in Fayetteville Arkansas and wouldn't let her calls through. Caller ID was what didn't let her calls go through, no one she had alienated wanted to answer the phone when they saw it was her...she used to know that, and was why she had three phone lines at her house for only her. Anyhow, now she says she has a court date and she is still in Generations. I can only imagine what the court date is for, diminished capacity. This time she may have finally done it, next week she may be a ward of the state, and then mothers diabolical plan to acquire dustys love and affection will be complete. Mother wouldn't write stuff like that if she was writing this.

The Phone Call

Okay, so I’m still not keeping up with this, but it is getting closer to mother taking over for me. I’ll try to catch up since last time…let’s see, NoMo had just come home from Generations and was starting her manic phase again. NoMo went to Generations a time before this latest time because she was so depressed and unable to do anything and requested that they take her in. She stayed about a week, and when she came out she was still depressed, so they took her in again, about a week after they let her go that time. The next time she got out was when her manic stuff started up again. I don’t know what they did to her, but she was in there for two, or so, weeks this latest time. Mother says NoMo is back to her old self with the being on the phone constantly and wanting to sue everyone in sight again. NoMo finally fixed her IRS problem so that is a big burden off of her shoulders now, it was partially the reason for her latest depression. This is just some of the background info since I know that people don’t want any gaps in her timeline.
Now, since the last time I wrote, NoMo has done a few things to get on everyone’s nerves again. I may have to start with the latest and then back track as I remember things…mother should really be writing this thing. Mother returned from her trip to Port Aransas, Texas on Sunday night about 9 p.m. after traveling all day by car, then plane, then more car. She started all of this about 6:30 Sunday morning after, I’m sure, much drinking with KaMo, LaKe, and JaBu, on their last night of this latest vacation. NoKe was pretty tired, but that didn’t stop LeRo from coming over to tell her about the dead guy that he had to deal with…anyway, NoKe didn’t get to bed until quite late again, she said she had to take a sleeping pill around 1 a.m. because she was still pretty wired from all the traveling, around 1:30 she finally drifted off. Around 5:40 a.m. guess who called? Right, NoMo! She says she didn’t know mother was home yet and wanted to leave some terribly interesting message…like the toenail clipping shaped like Elvis she found on her bed, or something similar of value like that, on mothers answering machine. I think mother wasn’t very nice to her and they hung up fairly quickly, 30 minutes, mother said she couldn’t go back to sleep and got up and made coffee. I think NoMo called back at 6:30 a.m. and invited mother to come over and have her coffee on NoMo’s junk covered porch with her, Dusty, and his Frisbee. Needless to say, mother wasn’t in a good mood Monday, and I don’t think she went to drink coffee with NoMo, but they did talk on the phone for the obligatory half hour again. I think mother said NoMo called about 14 times Monday, but that may be an exaggeration, though not an unreasonable one. Fortunately NoMo has some new victims to call on when NoKe is out of town, but I’m not sure who they are…its just not LeRo or me. Slowly but surely NoMo is getting her house back in order and is getting some things done again. Saturday night she called the police twice because her motion detector lights came on. She was frightened. The first cop came over and looked all around the back yard and didn’t find anything, so he left telling her she should call again if something else happens. It didn’t, but she called anyway. This time another cop came over, one she really didn’t like for some reason, and she told him to leave and never come back. The next morning she called the chief of police to complain about that guy. So far, NoMo is back to her old tricks again but hasn’t spent any money yet, she now has some new checks though. Mother says everything is back to the way it was when I first started writing this blog, with the exception of the spending money, but how far away can that be? For now, NoMo is too busy bitching about everyone, and working on suing people, to throw away any real money yet, but just wait…we may start a pool on the day she is hauled off by sheriffs deputies again.

Update

Okay, so I haven't had anything to write about NoMo for quite a while, but now I do. She hasn't really done anything for a long time because she has been shut up in her house, or at the Generations place being looked after ( ending sentences with prepositions is allowed in Arkansas english, KK, that is what it is for.) Anyhow, mother said that NoMo might be back to her manic side of the bipolar stuff, but it hasn't been confirmed yet. She said NoMo was doing a lot of cleaning and things like that, which would indicate that she is interested in something more than the couch. This is a short one and more is to come...hopefully. Mother didn't have time to elaborate today, but she may soon.

NoMo update

Its been a while since I've had anything to write about NoMo, and there isn't a whole lot to tell now either, but there has been a little activity recently. Since my last report NoMo has been very quiet and depressed. NoKe says that she just sits upstairs in her house and doesn't do anything. She used to just sit downstairs and watch TV, never going upstairs, but now she never leaves the upstairs. NoKe has offered to set up a TV upstairs but NoMo doesn't want her to go to any trouble, which is funny since NoKe is always having to make special trips to the accountant and the store and everything else for her. Now it seems that NoMo wants to go back to Generations voluntarally. She recently got a letter from a lawyer that said she would be held in contempt of court in Pine Bluff if she didn't respond in so many days. It has to do with her husbands nursing home care bill and how she hasn't paid it, its for around $10,000. And now, the IRS has zeroed out her bank account again. NoMo is having a little trouble coping with these things and wants a "vacation" to the mental health facility so she can recoup. NoKe has called Generations for her and they put NoMo on a waiting list. Tuesday a space opened up, so NoKe took her down there and checked her in, and is now in charge of Dusty while NoMo is away. This pleases NoKe more than anything, now that she doesn't have to compete with NoMo for Dusty's affection. We don't know how long NoMo will be in the booby hatch this time since it was voluntary, and as NoKe has said, "the problems will still be there when she gets out!" Maybe though, with counseling and medication, NoMo will be able to deal with being alone all the time and be able to stop hiding from her financial problems.

NoMo Update...sort of

I haven't updated this blog in quite a while because NoMo hasn't really done anything lately. The latest news has her being contacted by the prosecutors office about a hot check. Its an old check, but the store holding it finally took it down to the hot check office for collection. NoKe, of course, will have to go down to the city and pay it for her. NoMo has chased all the other help away since she got out of Generations, some of the help couldn't bring themselves to stay though, but NoKe is the only help she has again. NoMo is still quite serene since Generations, but who knows how long this will last.

NoMo Update

NoMo is still in the hospital so there isn’t a lot of news here, she always does this just when it starts to get interesting and I start this blog again. Yesterday mother visited NoMo in the hospital and brought her two down pillows that she asked for as well as a bathrobe. She wanted a large bathrobe, and mother said it looked like she had a train behind her when she put it on. Mother should have just brought a bedspread for NoMo to wear. The hospital doesn’t allow belts so NoMo was having to hold up her jeans with her hands as she walked down the hall to the common room, the jeans were oversized too. The hospital beds all have plastic mattress covers, so one night when NoMo couldn’t sleep, she took the mattress cover off the bed and threw it out in the hall, later the hospital staff took the bed out and gave her a lounge chair to sleep in, she may end up having to stay the entire 45 days if she keeps doing that. Mother said that they only allow NoMo two phone calls a day, which relieves mother, since NoMo would call her three times before lunch when she was free. Today I think mother is taking some stuff over to the accountant for NoMo, and LeRo is still trying to cash those checks NoMo wrote to him last month for various things. Who knows how many other “hot” checks she has outstanding right now, but mother says that a deposit will be made soon so there is going to be a rush at the bank later today. This seems to be all that is happening lately, so maybe more later.
Dusty's Office

Dusty with his frisbee's
NoMo faces the Judge

Today NoMo had to go to court and face a possible visit to the state mental hospital in Little Rock. Yesterday she gave mother a document from the court laying out the possibilities of what might happen to her if the judge found them to be necessary. The document was very serious, with the worst thing on it saying that she would be remanded to the state hospital for evaluation and possible committal. So this morning, at 7 a.m. or so, mother had to go to NoMo’s house and pick out an outfit for her to wear and take it to her. Mother also went to the court to watch the proceedings and had to speak to the judge after the formal hearing was over. The judge wanted to ask mother if she wanted to be the guardian for NoMo, he said he was going to order her to have one, but thankfully mother said “no.” NoMo was already out of the court room when this was discussed so we didn’t get a reaction to that, however she did yell at the public defender for not consulting with her more, this was the first time they met. I think mother said that she wouldn’t have to go to Little Rock, but would have to stay in “Generations” for a period of not more than 45 days for testing and evaluation and then have to have a guardian to look in on her periodically, someone from one of these senior type centers would probably be chosen for this duty, they won’t be paid enough. This is the way they left it, and NoMo hasn’t called mother at all today, so we don’t know anymore than what happened this morning. Mother still has to take NoMo’s mail over to her, the place is in the old Washington Regional Medical Center so its not too far. Other people will be in charge of her though, and the “hell on earth” may be over for mother, except for Dusty. Mother was playing Frisbee in the house with him today, so she may not hate him as much as she tries to let on.
New NoMo Info

Yesterday NoMo called NoKe finally, after about a week of incarceration at the institution for the criminally insane, and told her that she wants to stay there now until they get all the stuff figured out and can put her back on a sane track. She must be getting all the attention she craves and is happy there bossing everyone around. NoKe and LeRo are the only ones on her list that can call her though, not any of her family, and I think that’s by her request. So she will be incommunicado for a while so NoKe is taking care of Dusty right now. She blocks off the kitchen with some chairs, so he sits in her office chewing sticks down to sawdust, taking up a huge section of floor near the door. It’s the one place in the office that is the most in the way since the bathroom, exit, and computer, are right there and you have to tip toe through his legs to get anywhere. He just sits there gnawing on sticks all day. That is, till he thinks she is going to go outside, and then he picks up his chewed up Frisbee and stands in front of her like a 5 year old in Wal-Mart wanting his mommy to buy him a toy, jumping up and down and begging for it. Most of the time he doesn’t get his wish and sits back down to continue working on his stick. The vet said that Dusty might be allergic to fleas and that’s why he is always scratching. He got dipped the other day, and has had frontline applied to his back, and is taking pills for the allergy, but still scratches all the time, and chews, and barks, and is driving mother crazy. Yesterday we went into NoMo’s house and got a lot of pictures, this just in case the exterminators decide to break in a steal some stuff, we will have some evidence of what it looked like before. This blog is kind of going to slow down now for awhile, I imagine, but keep checking back from time to time just in case. Mother is going to the hospital in a while to check on NoMo and says that a court date is set for Thursday so maybe we will know more later.
NoMo is Hauled off to Jail Again

NoMo finally did it…again. She landed back in the loony bin Wednesday afternoon. NoKe said some sheriffs deputies were over at NoMo’s today, but didn’t know why they were called, usually it’s the city cops. Someone must of called them and we have our theories but none is proven yet. NoMo has been leaving nasty messages on David Williams message machine and he has had enough, he is a city cop and put her in the loony bin in the first place, but that is only conjecture since many people want her locked up. NoKe said something about how they were there to take NoMo back to Generations, a mental ward of some kind, and she was refusing to go. Judge Mashburn, I think it is, said they were to take her by force if they had to. So the deputies, a man and a woman, got the evil gnome in a sort of arm lock and threw her in the back of the patrol car as she was yelling and screaming obscenities at them. Mother thinks its probably going to be for quite a while since NoMo has been out of control and has broken the agreement that she had with the judge the first time she was in this predicament. I wonder if they will haul her into court in shackles again this time. The agreement said she was supposed to take her medicine and talk to a counselor once a week, which she did for ten days a year ago, he meant indefinitely. All this, while she gave her only house key to some exterminators to spray for fleas and they never brought the key back. That is how she got robbed the last time, so NoKe is guarding the house now and tending to Dusty. NoKe said NoMo called her from the hospital tonight and thought she would be back that evening…we both thought this would be impossible, but she was back the next day earlier in the week, so who knows. Please God, no. Stay tuned.
NoMo is mad at Mother

Well it looks like NoMo is kind of mad at mother now. It seems that NoMo can’t figure out what happened to the money that mother took out of the bank for her, this since the IRS had garnished her account. Most of the money was in cash and NoMo spent most of it, which showed in the report of it, but NoMo only wants to read the first line of the report which says what she started with. She admitted that she hadn’t read the report, but still wants to know where her money is…”sigh.” How can you argue with that kind of logic? Saturday, as NoKe was preparing for her party, NoMo came over at 8:30 a.m. and stayed till a quarter of ten. She, of course, was in her mink coat (75 degrees and sunny) and pajamas, and talked about how the world is conspiring against her, as usual. All this put mother behind again, so I had to come over and do the work that NoMo interfered with since NoKe had to leave around noon for the Alabama game. So far NoKe is still fired and sticking to it, and if NoMo can stay mad at mother it will be the answer NoKe’s been looking for all these many months.
NoMo Returns

Somehow NoMo was released from the hospital today and the ambulance brought her back just as they had taken her the day before. WHY, I ask, did they do that? What happened that made them bring her back? The paramedics set her up at the table outside on her porch, the table covered with candles that don’t light because they have burned completely down and have no wicks left. The table just has melted wax all over it, and candle stick holders, and broken plates and is her favorite place to sit and do her paper work. There is not one square inch of the rectangular table that doesn’t have something on it, but she insists on being there. They went inside to check to see if she had enough food and other supplies to get by alone. She didn’t understand why they went inside, and of course, bitched about it later when she called NoKe.
NoKe has been spending all week trying to get ready for a party on Saturday evening at her house, and has had NoMo to contend with the whole time. We thought NoMo would be in the hospital for at least a week, but no.
LeRo had to come over later to take Dusty to the vet, after the taxi driver forgot to come this morning, NoMo asks all these casual workers or whoever she can find to help her, with the taxi driver being the latest. LeRo found this out when NoMo called, shocking everyone she was back, and deflating mother who thought she had things on track finally for her party. She has wasted more time this week helping NoMo and is still up against the clock, and more so now. So far as I know, NoMo was pretty quiet today, not bothering NoKe except for a making a few unanswered phone calls. LeRo and I might be getting through to mother that she doesn’t have to continue to humor NoMo for hours on end, and can actually prioritize her own life ahead of the tiny Witch. Only time will tell if it works.

Here is the "normal" look of NoMo's den

NoMo Gets Hauled Off.

Today I got to NoKe’s house about 6 p.m. and saw her across the street talking to a neighbor. LeRo was parked on the street which was strange, he always parks in the driveway. I asked what was going on and they said that I just missed all the fire trucks, police, and ambulances that were at NoMo’s just minutes before. I think the sequence was that the NoMo niece, Amando, called the cops from Pine Bluff to check on NoMo. Then the cop called the ambulance about her leg, then NoMo fearing it would take too long, called for another one. So there were multiple police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances there to take NoMo to the hospital. They strapped her to the gurney with her in her mink coat and jewelry, think Gloria Swanson on Sunset Strip, and as they were about to put her in the ambulance she asked the cop Davido Williamso to take her dog Dusty in his police car to the vet. She didn’t really ask, she told him to do it like she orders everyone to do for her. He didn’t do it, but waited till she was gone before he refused.
She is at the hospital tonight, and NoKe, and everyone, is hoping its for quite a while. The psychiatrist will be checking in with her, I imagine, in a couple of days but won’t think she is crazy right off, you have to know her for awhile before it becomes quite apparent. NoMo knows everything and everyone else knows nothing, and she makes sure you know that before you finish talking to her. We can only hope they make her take some medicine for her bipolar disorder like she was supposed to do all last year. Its like a double personality she has: NoMo, and NoMoNut, and NoKe wants some time off now since she is fired, supposedly.

NoMo Fires NoKe

Okay, so we will start with the latest and then flash back as I remember what has happened. I think the last I wrote NoMo had awakened and was starting to get back to her old ways, like just before they hauled her off to the insane asylum. As you know NoKe has been taking time out of her busy days to help NoMo by getting her food and things and helping with Dusty the dog.
Most recently the IRS came down on NoMo for not filing taxes for the last two years and they have had a lien on her house for $55,000. So last week they seized her bank account and set a deadline to which the bank put her money in escrow in case the deadline wasn't met. Therefore NoMo had NoKe take NoMo's pension check and social security and cash them, then for NoKe to put the money in an envelope and keep it at her house so the IRS couldn't get it. NoKe could then give NoMo an "allowance" for groceries and other things NoMo wanted. That was the deal. It lasted for two weeks while NoMo bought and bought and bought till there was no money left...well, almost none. A good bit of it went to pay household expenses but she also got two large deli trays from the grocery for herself, apparently, for $58 bucks, and other goofy things. Anyway, last night she and NoKe got into a huge fight and the two exchanged "birds" and then NoKe threw her wine in NoMo's face and walked out in a huff. NoMo fired her, and wanted all her stuff back that NoKe had been keeping for her, like her diamond ring, and other jewelry. Thats where I came in today, NoKe gathering all the crap and taking it back next door. NoKe tried to play a message from her machine for me that had NoMo on it saying she was going to tell everyone she knew that NoKe was spreading rumors about her, like "NoMo is drunk twenty four seven" and other assorted rumors that have no basis but somehow serve NoMo well, because everyone says that about her, she says.
The other day, last week actually, NoMo got all her furniture moved up here from Pine Bluff, despite the fact her house is already jam packed with stuff and there is no more room to put it anywhere except the garage. The garage was already full and now you can't squeeze a tennis racket in it...sideways. NoMo saw this and decided she would stop payment on the check to the moving company for not "setting up" the stuff, like the bed...which would mean they would have to take down the other bed first, and that wasn't their job...they are just movers. Anyway they are suing her now.
The latest thing, besides the fight, has to do with the paramedics coming to her house to fix her leg, which got cut last week and is now infected. They kept insisting she go to the hospital but she refused, afraid they were going to put her in the psych ward, she started yelling at them which made them call the police. Now her leg is still infected, since she refused treatment...even though she called them in the first place, and she is treating it herself...which means doing nothing.
The other night NoMo got the taxi driver to take her to the WalMart to buy groceries, around midnight. She can't really walk so she got the little motorized cart thing to ride around in which isn't too weird, except for she wore her full length mink coat and hasn't washed her hair for a year, nor was wearing clothes, just pajamas. They picked out $700 worth of groceries and had the clerk scan all of it and when it came time to pay, NoMo wrote a check, no money in the account by the way (IRS), and when the clerk asked for ID, NoMo said she didn't have one so the clerk told her she couldn't have the groceries. After the fit she threw, she and the taxi driver left feeling satisfied that WalMart personnel would have to put all the stuff back on the shelves. They showed WalMart didn't they?
So we come to the present again, not far from the past though.
NoKe is still trying to stay fired, it may not be working. I am pretty sure I am fired for good, I have a talent for that. LeRo is trying to stay out of the way but is being sucked in day by day. Dusty's fleas are so many now there is a black cloud surrounding him. So, all in all NoMo seems to be back. Did I fail to mention that part about NoMo calling me over there at midnight to help her when NoKe was out of town, well thats a story unto itself...but later.
NoMo is Awake

NoMo is finally awake and ready for action. I haven't written anything in about a year now since NoMo got out of the hospital and started taking her medication. She had been at the depressive end of her bipolar disorder for the last year and hasn't done anything except watch TV. In fact she hasn't been out of her pajamas since last August 31. This week she admitted that she had not taken her medication for quite a while and has been making mothers life a living hell. She is back to the other end of her bipolar disorder ,which landed her in the booby hatch last year. She hasn't called the police yet to help her move furniture, or bought anything, but is slowly working her way up to it. She is calling mother on the phone several times a day and talking for over an hour each time, about her family that mother has heard a million times. Today she asked mother to go to Harps and pick up some chicken at the deli for her...it turned out it was not the right Harps that she sent mother to. She told her crossover but it was the garland store she made the order to. Since getting out of the funk, NoMo has been filling trash bags with all the stuff that she hasn't taken to the garbage all year long. There is a lot of stuff so its going to take a long time. The conditions for her going home from the insane asylum were that she would take her medication, see the counselor once a week, and take care of herself. She hasn't done any of these things, especially lately, and is in danger of being sent back if she does something crazier than usual...like calling the police to help her find the remote. My ears are still ringing with mothers rants from earlier and I forgot some of what she said, but now things will get more interesting from here...stay tuned, Dusty is yet to come.
NoMo Update

Its been a long time since I've updated this but then NoMo hasn't really done anything of note since. Nor has she done anything to warrant this bit of blather. Dusty is still being shared between NoMo and NoKe and there is no change in that status coming up in the future. He still shadows NoKe wherever she goes and hangs around in her office chewing on sticks all day long. He gets there in the morning and yipes until NoKe is guilted into letting him into the house and then he follows her all over the place. Today I was there and Dusty thought he was going to get to ride in the car and started jumping up and down and clapping his "hands" but she wasn't going anywhere and left him next to her car...he stayed there for about 20 minutes till I got back from the store and I let him back into the house. NoMo has given NoKe another $500.00 for groceries and stuff...sort of a credit account, and when she uses it all up she will fund it again. NoKe has found a way to get NoMo to pay, the next trick is to get NoMo to go to the store for herself. It won't be easy though, NoMo still survives on bologna and peanut butter and those things are easy to get someone else to buy for you. She still won't leave the house and declined to come over on Christmas and who knows how long this will last...I think August was the last time she went out.

NoMo Pays NoKe Back

Its amazing but NoMo paid NoKe back the other day...$1,000.00 for all the work that LeRo did, and all the things NoKe bought NoMo at the store...including $37.00 worth of stamps that NoMo hasn't used since NoKe bought them for her two months ago. There is an actual credit balance in NoKe's account for NoMo...which kind of guarantees that NoKe will have to continue going to the store to buy groceries and cigarettes for NoMo. Dusty is still hanging around NoMo's house and the other night he was somehow responsible for NoKe falling down in her driveway and busting her ass and making a giant bruise on her leg. Fortunately NoKe was able to get up...eventually...she is still sore she says, and this was like last thursday. Slowly but surely NoMo is getting better...less insane...and NoKe is thinking of appropriating her bank statement to find out how much money NoMo is getting in...but now that NoMo has paid her back NoKe isn't in such a hurry to do it. Still, NoMo hasn't done anything to help herself, staying downstairs all the time, eating bologna, and watching golf on TV, so we are thinking of doing something to help with organizing her life...although we're not in a great hurry to do it.
