Sure, we call our Android devices “phones,” but the modern smartphone is so wildly different from that curly-corded contraption mounted to your grandmother’s kitchen wall that it would probably be more accurate to call them Personal Computers if the name wasn’t already taken. All the processing power and computing ability that our handsets deliver are increasingly impressive, but these come at a cost.
We’re starting to expect more and more out of our devices every year, but developments in battery longevity haven’t kept pace with other technological advances. Maybe that’s why one of the most common questions we hear is, “How can I extend my Android’s phone battery life?”
I’ll give you the tl;dr right off the bat: if you really want to stretch your phone battery life, the approach that makes the most impact is to lower your screen’s brightness and kill anything you aren’t actively using. Basic resource management goes a long way, and since your display is almost certainly the biggest battery hog no matter what device you’re using, lowering its power intake will improve battery life across the board.
That said, there are still tons of tweaks and fixes you can use to really wring the most out of your phone battery. We’ll be going into detail for each of these, and we’ll be moving at a pace that even tech-unsavvy newcomers to the Android operating system can follow.
So if you find yourself nodding and saying to yourself, “Yeah, yeah, I already know this stuff,” then feel free to skip on ahead. If you’re a serious, long-time user, you probably won’t find much here you don’t already know, but a refresher never hurts!
So without further ado, here is absolutely everything you need to know about getting the most out of your phone battery life, from routine maintenance to rooting and underclocking.

Turn off things you aren’t really using

When you leave your home, do you leave all the lights on, crank the AC to the max, and leave the TV blaring? Of course not! Electricity costs money, and basic economics means that most people have the common sense to turn off household appliances and lights when they aren’t in use.
If you really want to save your phone’s battery life, the same principle applies — but instead of paying for your irresponsibility with an energy bill at the end of the month, you’re paying with a dead battery by 5pm. Let’s take a look at some of the lights you may have been leaving on.

Connectivity features

These guys are big culprits. If you want to conserve power, then you should always turn off your Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Location (GPS) when you aren’t actively using them. If you’re want to be really aggressive with control over your battery, you might even want to experiment with disabling your mobile network connection when you know you won’t be using it as well.

Wi-Fi drains far less battery than cellular service.

Many users leave these features running all day without really thinking about it. Turning on Airplane Mode will knock out all of them in one fell swoop. Airplane Mode isn’t just for when you’re airborne, however. If you’re in an area where cell service is patchy, your phone can expend a lot of battery power trying to get the best connection it can.
Turning on Airplane Mode or turning off your mobile data in favor of an available Wi-Fi network can make all the difference in the world. If you have the choice between using Wi-Fi or cell signal, always choose Wi-Fi, all else being equal. Wi-Fi drains far less battery than cellular service.

Shut down vibration

Vibration is wonderful if you’re in a situation in which you wouldn’t normally be able to hear your cell phone, such as being on the road. For many people, the subtlety of vibrating notifications is indispensable in their workplace (if you’re a lawyer, you can’t exactly have Crazy Frog going off every time you get a text message down at the firm).
However, smartphone vibrations aren’t conjured from magical resonating crystals. To produce the effect, your device has to spin up a small vibration motor every time, which can be really draining on your battery. This goes for haptic feedback as well, that light buzzing your phone may produce when you tap keys on your on-screen keyboard. If you really want to maximize your phone battery life, you should minimize your phone’s jiggliness.

Kill apps when you leave them?

For a long time, app-killing apps were all the rage. Frustrated with laggy user experience, Android users of the days of yore began using all kinds of task managers to eliminate the apps they thought were hogging resources.
The problem is, these task killers became unnecessary even before they really got popular. Android has gotten really good at managing its own memory, and most of the apps that you murder this way will just spring right back to life. If anything, app killers suck battery life rather than conserve it.
But there’s a new feature that’s been available since Android 4.0: the Recent Apps menu. Although this feature’s primary function is to make swapping between apps faster, it is also possible to “swipe away” apps. Some myths have cropped up that it’s good practice to pull up the Recent Apps menu and swipe away any apps you aren’t using, effectively killing them.
This just isn’t true. For one, swiping away recent apps does not kill them. It is a good way to get an app to stop misbehaving (for example, if a Facebook photo gets stuck uploading, then swiping away the app will tell Facebook to cancel this action), but the apps you see on this list are not actively running in the background. The Recent Apps menu is nothing like the Task Manager on your PC, it’s just a visual catalogue to help you navigate your apps easier.

Sometimes it’s possible for apps to go rogue and start hogging resources, but those are the kind of devils you want to put down for good. IFTTT

IFTTT is a beautiful service that’s great for non-programmers and first-time automators. Hell, it’s powerful enough that even more hardcore users might prefer its elegance to rolling up their sleeves for more nuanced work.
The goal of IFTTT is to put the internet to work for you. The letters stand for “If This, Then That.” Once you subscribe to their service on the website and download the Android app “IF,” you can get your phone to do a variety of things without your active intervention.
For instance, you might activate your phone’s “Location” channel. This will let IFTTT respond to your smartphone’s location. Then you might tell IFTTT, “Okay, if I leave home, turn my Wi-Fi off.” And then, likewise, “If I arrive home, turn my Wi-Fi on.”
With a little creativity and forethought, you can quickly turn your phone into a fully automated, power-managing machine. IFTTT has a few pre-crafted recipes that you can try out to get the feel for how it works. Once you play around with it for a little bit, you’ll start to find all sorts of things to automate, even beyond the scope of your phone’s battery life.

Tasker

For the more technically inclined, Tasker is an app that gives its users total control over their device. The level of precision and customization that this service brings to the table is frankly unparalleled, but it can be a little daunting to new users. Experience in at least rudimentary programming or logic may be preferable, but tutorials are available to bring just about anybody up to speed.
Tasker lets you create a variety of different contexts that change the way your device functions. For instance, you might configure your phone to stay on vibrate while you’re at the office, but turn vibration off and activate Wi-Fi when you get home. The possibilities are endless, and if your phone is rooted, then you have even more options at your fingertips.

Greenify

Now, I mentioned that we would be walking through these in increasing levels of difficulty. However, the beauty of Greenify is that it’s not actually difficult to operate at all. The app lets you “hibernate” pesky resource-hogging background apps, which effectively force-stops them.
Unfortunately, to really make the best use of Greenify’s automated hibernation capabilities, you have to have root access to your device. If the idea of rooting your device is daunting to you, or if you don’t even know what I’m talking about right now, then it’s probably a good idea to stick with IFTTT or Tasker.

Use the internet intelligently

Mobile traffic makes up an incredible amount of internet use worldwide, and even though this amount is expected to continue to rise, most people are still accessing the internet very inefficiently. As I mentioned briefly above, you should always choose Wi-Fi over cellular service.
This will be easier on your data plan, sure, but even if you’re on one of those (increasingly rare) unlimited data plans, you’ll find that cell service hogs way more battery than Wi-Fi does.
However, just because your Wi-Fi receptor uses less battery than cellular service, it’s still a good idea to disable your Wi-Fi when you aren’t using it. Your phone is constantly searching for open connections while Wi-Fi is active, and that fruitless search can wreak havoc on your battery life.

Cut back on notifications

You don’t have to let your apps sync all of their data automatically. Choosing to do this manually, or to limit autosync to the apps that really need it, can seriously reduce power use.

Abandon auto synchronization

Auto Synchronization uses background processes that can eat into both your mobile data use and battery life. To turn it off, go to Settings > Accounts. Tap the three vertical dots in the upper right corner and uncheck Auto-sync data. You can also manually adjust which apps sync and how frequently.

Use ad-free apps

Not only are ads annoying, but ferrying that vibrant, eye-catching content to your device takes energy. Using apps that don’t use ads, or purchasing premium versions of apps that eschew ads, can drastically change how badly your battery takes a beating. If you use an app frequently, and it’s sucking up your phone’s life juice every day, consider upgrading or finding an ad-free alternative.

Adjust your display

Here we go. The MacDaddy of all battery sappage: your display.
Head over to Settings > Battery. You should see a list of services that use your battery in order from the most battery hungry to the least. Which one is at the top there? Odds are extremely good that you’re looking at Screen by a large margin. Let’s see if we can’t make that display a little less demanding.

Dim your brightness

Well, that’s kind of a no-brainer, isn’t it? Full brightness might be necessary to see those texts under the full light of day, but why are you still running that setup after sunset? Tone it back a bit and use adaptive brightness or auto brightness depending on which version of Android you are running.

Decrease Animation Scale and Background Process

Time to get into some behind-the-scenes work here. To make these changes, we’ll need to access the Developer Options menu in your settings. However, unless you’ve unlocked Developer Options before, you’re not going to find them anywhere.
To unlock these options, go to Settings > About. Now tap on the Build number repeatedly until you get a notification saying that you have been promoted to Developer status. Congratulations!

Here we go. The MacDaddy of all battery sappage: your display.

Head back out to Settings, and you’ll see a new item just above About, labelled Developer Options. Tap this item and scroll down quite a ways. Be careful with the things you change here, as you could significantly change the way your device functions. Stop when you see Window animation scale, Transition animation scale, and Animator duration scale.
Each of these is likely currently set to Animation scale x1. Setting each of these to Animation off will not only slightly increase your battery life, but it may increase your phone’s performance as well.
On this same menue, you can scroll further down to find Background Process Limit. By default, this is Standard limit, but adjusting it by three or four processes can slightly increase your battery life and may improve performance as well.

Reduce auto-lock time

Again, since your screen is the biggest enemy to your battery, keeping it off as much as possible is wise. Go to Settings > Display and change your Sleep length to be as short as is feasible. 15 seconds is a good amount.

Optimize wallpapers and themes

How your phone looks isn’t just aesthetic. It can also affect how long your device can stay alive on a single charge.

Ditch live wallpapers

Yeah, that massive spiral galaxy slowly swirling in glowing tranquility looks great on display units, but in everyday life, these gorgeous backgrounds take processing power to animate. Ditch the koi pond and stick with something more power-friendly.

Embrace the darkness (maybe)

And what is a power-friendly wallpaper? That actually depends on what kind of display you have!
There are essentially two kinds of displays currently on the smartphone market. AMOLED and LCD. AMOLED works by lighting up individual pixels to create images. LCD works by having a backlight that is overlaid by a screen that shutters and displays the backlight to create pixels which compose images.
This leads us to a counter-intuitive conclusion. If you have an AMOLED display, using a black wallpaper is the most power-efficient because the display doesn’t have to activate those pixels. They just get to rest. However, if you have an LCD display, the most power-efficient option is a white wallpaper because the screen doesn’t have to work to create the pixels. Strange but true.
It should be noted, however, that the benefit of having a white background on an LCD display is not as significant as the benefit of having a black background on an AMOLED display. If you’re not sure which you have, it won’t hurt much to err on the side of black.

Limit location services and background data

You could also squeeze a little bit more juice by turning off Location Services (usually found in Settings > Location Services). You might want to prevent apps from using your location info. You will also most likely want to disable the Location and Google Search option (or Wi-Fi and Mobile Network Location option on some phones) to prevent your device from using Wi-Fi and/or mobile networks for triangulating your precise location and sending the data to Google servers. The process, needless to say, requires power.
Keep an eye on apps that use data in the background. Some apps, such as the Play Store and Gmail apps, continuously collect and send data in the background. You can restrict such background usage of data — per app — and your battery will be the happier for it.

But, you can also perform a blanket restriction in Settings > Data Usage; tap the Menu button and tick the Restrict Background Data option to enable it. You can also enable per-app restriction by opening each app’s info page.
(Note: The Restrict Background Data option may not be available in certain phone models. Also, Google itself considers per-app background data restriction as a “drastic measure that may also affect the app’s performance or cause it to malfunction,” so you might want to use this option with caution.)

Murder apps that betray you

Some apps are resource-intensive — either by nature (as in the case of games) or by developer incompetence or negligence (as in the case of poorly written apps).
You need to be vigilant about how your various apps consume battery power. A quick trip to Settings > Battery (or, on some devices, Settings > Power > Battery Use) will usually reveal which app or service is sucking most of the juice.
Identify apps that constantly drain CPU and battery life. Poorly coded apps that connect to the Internet even when they’re not supposed to should be uninstalled, as should apps that needlessly use up a huge amount of CPU resources. Replace these apps with better developed ones rather than endure running on less and less battery each day because of treacherous apps.

Use Battery Saver

Here’s a pretty straightforward one. Go to Settings > Battery and then tap the three-dot menu in the top right of the screen. Choose Battery Saver (hint: it’s the only option available in this menu).
Battery saver reduces your device’s performance and automatically limits vibration, location services, and background data. You can activate it from here, or you can set it to kick on automatically at 5 or 15 percent battery.

Root

Rooting is an advanced process that varies significantly from device to device. However, there’s no question that a number of battery saving techniques are available to root users that simply aren’t accessible to non-rooters.

De-bloat

Rooting itself won’t lengthen your battery life. Rooting merely opens the gates to your device’s restricted partitions and directories. With such restrictions gone, you can remove useless apps (e.g., bloatware from carriers or OEMs), especially those that run as background services, wasting away precious battery power.

Underclock

With root access on your device, you can also install apps that can improve your system’s performance. A CPU controller app, for instance. Apps like these essentially allow you to tweak the CPU settings on your device. You can set the CPU frequency to stay at the lowest (and, as a result, use up the least power but sacrifice device performance) or to stretch the CPU to its maximum limits (resulting in better and faster performance, but at the price of heat, quick battery drain, and potential system instability).

Custom kernels and ROMs

And, since in all likelihood your phone has also acquired an unlocked bootloader and custom recovery in the process of rooting it, then you’ll also be able to enjoy the blessings — the power-saving blessings, in this case — of many custom kernels and custom ROMs. Look around Android Authority for guides on how to flash custom kernels or custom ROMs to your particular device.

Get a better battery

This is almost laughable (but not quite) in this day and age. Modular batteries used to be the norm for Android devices, but now they’re the smartphone equivalent of the Black Rhino or the Hawksbill Turtle. If you’ve managed to get your hands on one of these endangered species, then you may have the option to upgrade your battery to a higher capacity model.

Fix 3: Assign a new drive letter

Connect your SD card to a card reader to the system, if your system does not assign a new drive letter to it, then it isn't reading it or the card is unreadable. In some cases, the reader might be assigned a drive letter, but still, you get the message "Please insert the disk into drive E:" indicating that it isn't reading the card. To resolve this problem assign a new drive letter to this connected Card through your operating system settings.

Fix 4: Use Sandisk in-built solution

If none of the files can be read, then possibly the directory will list the filenames, but the files can't be accessed. You can right-click on the drive letter and select "Properties." If you can view the used space on the card and if it shows all or almost all free space, then either all the files have been deleted, or the directory has been erased. Fix 5: Format SD card

If you can read all the files but cannot save them, then your card might be in write protected mode. Unlock the write-protection switch to save or modify files on the card.

Ischaemic heart disease and stroke are the world’s biggest killers, accounting for a combined 15.2 million deaths in 2016. Diabetes killed 1.6 million people in 2016, up from less than 1 million in 2000. Deaths due to dementias more than doubled between 2000 and 2016, making it the 5th leading cause of global deaths in 2016 compared to 14th in 2000.
Lower respiratory infections remained the most deadly communicable disease, causing 3.0 million deaths worldwide in 2016. The death rate from diarrhoeal diseases decreased by almost 1 million between 2000 and 2016, but still caused 1.4 million deaths in 2016. Similarly, the number of tuberculosis deaths decreased during the same period, but is still among the top 10 causes with a death toll of 1.3 million. 1. Add a shortcut to My Apps in the Play Store

If you’re like me, you open the Play Store mostly for one reason: app updates. It’s important to keep your apps updated and to read about the changes. One of the newest Android features is called “App Shortcuts.” It allows you to long-press an app on your home screen and jump straight to a specific section. The Play Store has this for the “My Apps” section. You can put the “My Apps” shortcut directly on your home screen.

Note: This feature only works in Android 7.1+ or with certain 3rd-party launchers (such as Nova Launcher).

Put the Play Store on your home screen if it’s not already
Long-press the Play Store
Long-press the My apps shortcut
Drag it anywhere on the home screen and drop it

2. Jump to App Info from the Recent Apps

Every Android app has an “App Info” page in the Settings. This is where you can disable, force stop, clear cache, reset defaults, and perform a number of other functions. One of the best new Android features you may not be aware of is custom Quick Settings Tiles. The Quick Settings is the area in the notification shade that allows you to quickly toggle on WiFi, Bluetooth, and a number of other things. 5. Restrict apps from using data in the background

The right GIF can say a lot more than even the most finely crafted text message. There are plenty of ways to find GIFs on Android, but nothing is easier than having GIFs built right into your keyboard. Google’s own Gboard keyboard has the functionality. 9. Locate and your lost or stolen phone

Losing your phone is one of the worst things that can happen. These devices contain sensitive information and private data. If your phone falls into the wrong hands it could put you in a world of trouble. There are apps you can download to help in the event of a lost phone, but in order for them to work you need to have them installed before something bad happens. Luckily there is a built-in way to find your lost phone and even wipe all of your personal data.

10. Make your phone snappy with faster animations

One of the most common complaints about Android is “lagginess.” In the last few versions they have made some serious improvements, but if you still feel like your phone is a little laggy there is a trick for speeding things up. Google has hidden some secret developer options inside the Settings. Inside the secret developer options are settings for animation and transition speed. Here’s how to speed things up.

The effects of porn are devastating.

Pornography is ravaging marriages. In our culture porn is treated as if it’s harmless, but it’s not. Porn will wreck the arousal process in your brain and end up wrecking your sex life in marriage.

I receive emails everyday from women who are desperate to fix their marriages, but they don’t know what to do. They married men who never seem to want sex. Or their husbands are never satisfied. Or their husbands call them boring or unattractive. And the root of many of these problems is porn.

Here’s the really devastating part: Because so much of what porn does to you happens chemically in the brain, the porn use doesn’t have to be going on NOW to have these effects. A boy who grew up on porn in his teens, and then managed to stop watching it in his twenties (with occasional relapses) will still suffer from many of these things.

The good news: There is healing! You can rebuild those chemical pathways to arousal. But first we have to understand 10 ways that porn affects the brain, and thus wrecks many couples’ sex lives. And so today, on Top 10 Tuesday, I thought I’d share:

1. Porn Means You Can’t Get Aroused by “Just” Your Spouse

Do you remember reading about Pavlov and his dog in Psychology? Pavlov would give the dog a nice juicy steak, but right before he did he would ring a bell. He conditioned the dog to associate ringing the bell with getting great food. Eventually Pavlov took the food away, but kept ringing the bell. The dog kept salivating at the bell, even though there was no steak, because the dog associated the bell with the food.

The same thing happens when we see porn. Porn stimulates the arousal centers in the brain. When it’s accompanied by orgasm (sexual release through masturbation), then a chemical reaction happens and hormones are released. In effect, our brains start to associate arousal with an image, an idea, or a video, rather than a person.

When you don’t watch porn and save yourself until marriage, then all of those chemicals and hormones are released for the first time when you’re with your spouse, and it causes you to bond intensely (and sexually) to your spouse. But when you spend a ton of time teaching your brain to associate arousal and release with pornography, your brain can’t associate arousal and release with a person anymore. Either you have to fantasize about the porn, and get those images in your brain, or you have to watch porn first. Often people can “complete the act”, but it’s not intense for them the way porn is. You’ve rewired your brain, and now you’re salivating at the wrong thing.

2. Porn Wrecks Your Libido

It’s only natural, then, that many people who use porn in the past, or who use porn in the present, have virtually no libido when it comes to making love to their spouse. The spouse is not what turns them on, and so the natural drive that we have for sex is transferred somewhere else. I get so many emails from young women in their twenties who say, “my husband and I were both virgins when we married, and I thought he’d want sex all the time. But after our honeymoon sex went to maybe twice a month, and that’s only if I pressure him. He says he just isn’t interested.” With so many men growing up on porn, this is just to be expected.

3. Porn Makes You Sexually Lazy

In porn, everyone is turned on all the time. You don’t have to make any effort to arouse someone; it’s automatic. There is no foreplay in porn. And so if your spouse isn’t aroused you start to think that it’s somehow their fault. There’s no expectation that we will have to “woo” someone or be affectionate and help jumpstart that arousal process. It’s almost as if we approach sex as two different beings and we’re just using each other, rather than thinking of each other. And thus we never learn how to please the other or become a good lover because we’re always thinking that the other is somehow “frigid”. Pornography teaches you that sex is about getting my needs met; it isn’t about meeting someone else’s needs or experiencing something wonderful together.

4. Porn Turns “Making Love” into a Foreign Concept

Those arousal centers and pleasure centers in our brain are supposed to associate sex with physical pleasure and a real sense of intimacy. But the intimacy doesn’t happen with porn, and so the pleasure is all that registers. Thus, porn makes sex all about the body, and not about intimacy. In fact, the idea of being intimate isn’t even sexy anymore; anonymous is what’s sexy. We may call “having sex” “making love”, but in reality they aren’t necessarily the same thing. Someone who has used porn extensively often has a difficult time experiencing any intimacy during sex, because those arousal and pleasure centers zero in only on the body. And that’s another negative effect of porn: porn users often need to objectify or degrade their partner in order to achieve pleasure, the exact opposite of intimacy.

God made sex to actually unite us and draw us together; He even gave us a bonding hormone that’s released at orgasm so that we’d feel closer! But if that hormone is released when no one is present, it stops having its effects. Sex no longer bonds you together.

5. Porn Makes Regular Intercourse Seem Boring

An alcoholic drinks alcohol for the “buzz”. But after a while your body begins to tolerate it. To get the same buzz, you need more alcohol. And so the alcoholic begins to drink harder liquor, or drink larger quantities.

The same thing happens with porn. Because porn teaches us that sex is all about the body, and not about intimacy, then the only way to get a greater “high” or that same buzz is to watch weirder and weirder porn. I think most of us would be horrified if we saw what most porn today really is. It isn’t just pictures of naked women like there used to be in Playboy; most is very violent, extremely degrading, and very ugly.

“Regular” intercourse is actually not depicted that often in porn, and so quite frequently the person who watches porn starts to get a warped view of what sex really is. And often they start to want weirder and weirder things.

Now, I’m not against spicing things up, and I do think lots of things can be fun! But when we’re wanting “more” because we’ve programmed ourselves to think “the weirder the sexier”, there’s a problem.

6. Porn Makes it Hard to Be Tender When You Have Sex

It’s no wonder, then, that people who use porn often have a hard time being tender when they have sex. Sex tends to be impersonal, rushed, and “forced”. I’m absolutely not saying that all porn users rape their wives, but porn itself is often violent. There’s no foreplay. There’s no waiting to arouse someone. It’s just taking what you want.

Being tender means to be loving. It’s to give and to express affection. Because these things aren’t paired with sex in the porn users brain, tenderness and sex no longer go together.

7. Porn Trains You to Have Immediate Gratification and Have a Difficult Time Lasting Long

With porn, when you’re aroused you reach orgasm very quickly, because porn users tend to masturbate at the same time. Thus, orgasm tends to be very fast. The porn user hasn’t trained his body to draw out sex so that his spouse can get pleasure; his body is programmed to orgasm quickly. Many porn users, then, suffer from premature ejaculation.

Some porn users go to the other extreme when they start suffering from erectile dysfunction. They have a difficult time remaining “hard” enough during sex because the stimulation isn’t enough. In their case, orgasm can take an eternity, if it’s possible at all.

While both seem like polar opposites, the simple fact is that sexual dysfunction of some sort is one of the big negative effects of pornography.

8. Porn Gives You a Warped View of what Attractive Is

Sex is supposed to bond you physically, emotionally and spiritually with your spouse. But if porn has made the chemical pathways in your brain go haywire, then sex becomes only about the body. And porn shows you that only certain body types are attractive. It’s not about the whole person; it’s just a certain type of person.

If a woman gains even ten pounds, then, she’s no longer attractive, and the porn user has an honest to goodness difficult time getting aroused, because he associates only a certain body type with arousal. Porn has taught your brain that sex is only about the body, and not about the relationship, so if someone’s body isn’t exactly right, no arousal happens.

9. Porn Makes Sex Seem Like Too Much Work

All of this combines to often make sex with your spouse too much work. You’re not aroused; you find your spouse not attractive; sex is blah; and sex requires you to make an effort for your spouse, while you’re used to immediate gratification.

Thus, many people who use porn retreat into a life of masturbation. Even if the porn use stops, they often find it easier to “relieve” themselves in the shower than to have to work at sex.

10. Porn Causes Selfishness

All of this causes a spiral of selfishness where the person ignores his spouse’s needs and is focused only on getting what he wants, and getting it instantly. Often this manifests itself in other areas of the relationship as well, where the spouse becomes annoyed if they have to wait for something, or if they don’t get what they want. Porn has sold them the message: you deserve pleasure when you want it. You shouldn’t have to work to get what you want. Your needs are paramount.

It’s no wonder that shows up in other areas of your relationship.

People who think that porn is harmless and simply helps people “get in the mood”, or “relieves frustration”, are kidding themselves. The chemical processes in our brains are really complicated, and when you start messing with them, it’s really difficult to develop a healthy sexuality again.

In 1996, only about 44 million American adults had cell phones. Now there are almost 330 million active subscriptions in the U.S., or one cell phone for every person in the country. Nowadays, adults aren’t the only ones with phones. In fact, many parents give their infants their cell phones to provide a portable entertainment option. So with all those mobile devices, should we be concerned about the health risks? Definitely. While not a definitive list, let’s go through 5 ways cell phones can harm your health.

Cell Phone Hazards

Smartphones are the most popular types of cell phones, and they’re also one of the few that emit a high level of radiation. Holding a smartphone, or any cell phone for that matter, in your pocket or bra is extremely risky to reproductive organs and breasts. Here are five ways cell phones pose a health risk:

1. Cancer Risk

A new study from Sweden suggests decades of cell phone use can triple your chances for brain cancer. ^[1] While even a tripled risk is low, this latest finding contradicts one from 2010 (in part funded by cell phone makers) that found no strong link between cell phone use and brain tumors. ^[2] ^[3] These types of studies look at users who are constantly holding cell phones against their heads.

2. Hindering Sleep

Cell phones might even be hazardous to our sleep, with the latest evidence suggesting that individuals with smartphones in the bedroom sleep less each night. ^[4] In addition, microwave radiation from cell phones is much riskier for kids than originally thought. One study noted a child’s brain tissue and bone marrow actually absorbs significantly more than those of an adult. ^[5]

3. Disease Carriers

Let’s be honest, how often do you clean your cell phone? It’s not really something we think about, but a recent study noted cell phones could be as dirty as public toilet seats, and that the heat phones generate makes a perfect breeding ground for bacteria. ^[6] Disinfecting cell phones is always a good idea since these germs can even infect you.

4. Do Cell Phones Promote Social and Psychological Issues?

Research has often studied the way cell phones change the way we think, but a team of researchers found cell phones actually interfere with normal socialization. The near constant use even creates learned compulsive behaviors (like self-importance). ^[7] With the average young adult sending about 109 text messages and checking their phone a little over 60 times per day, the fear here is that this type of behavior could lead to potentially dangerous addictions. ^[8]

5. Spinal Misalignment: A Surprising Connection

Think about how many times a day you check your phone. What Eid-al-Fitr ?

Ramadan ended on 14 June this year, prompting celebrations as the 1.6 billion Muslims across the world mark the beginning of Eid al-Fitr.

Translated from Arabic as “the feast of the breaking of the fast”, the festival will begin as the moon rises on Thursday evening and can continue for up to three days.

Muslims observe a number of traditions during Eid, such as holding prayers and donating money to charity.

What is Eid al-Fitr?

Eid a-Fitr is the celebration that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month during which Muslims fast during daylight hours and refrain from sexual activity, among other things.

Ramadan, considered one of the Five Pillars of Islam, lasts between 29 and 30 days, based on when a new moon is sighted by local religious authorities. The sighting means Eid can begin.

The holiday, considered one of the most important in the Islamic faith, has its own particular set of prayers, which Muslims will recite in congregation often in parks, community centres or at mosques.
When does Eid al-Fitr take place?

The exact dates of Ramadan and, in turn, Eid, vary from one year to another on the Gregorian calendar.

This year, Eid-al-Fitr is on 15 June, as the sighting of the crescent moon was on the evening of 14 June.

The festival is a day when Muslims thank Allah for strength and blessings, hoping Ramadan has brought them closer to god. It was first celebrated by Muhammad in 624CE following a victory in battle.

How is Eid-al Fitr celebrated?

A wide variety of practices take place during Eid, the first of which is a special set of prayers saved only for the occasion, known as Salat al-Eid.

Muslims will generally gather at mosque or in open-air locations to carry out prayers on the first morning of the festival before sitting down with family and friends for breakfast, their first daylight meal in a month.

Gatherings will take place in public areas across the UK to celebrate Eid, including in Trafalgar Square in central London, while up to 150,000 are expected to celebrate in Birmingham’s Small Heath Park.

Another important Eid tradition is the Zakat al-Fitr – charity given to the poor at the end of Ramadan.

The donation is aimed at providing the needy with enough so they too can join in the feast and celebrate the breaking of the fast, but can be donated to help the poor or the needy in general.

During Ramadan 2016, British Muslims were estimated by the Charity Commission to have given £371 each to charity on average. Eid al-Fitr should not be confused with Eid al-Adha, the 10th day of the final month of the Islamic calendar and the holiest of all Muslim holidays, when Muslims from around the world will travel to Mecca for pilgrimage.

Shab-E-Qadr, The Night of Power – Its Importance and Ramdan

The Muslim Community will be engaged in overnight prayers and indulge in charity today on the occasion of the eveningthat is popularly known as ‘Shab-e-Qadra’ in Persian and ‘Lailat-ul-Qadra’ in Arabic. Literally translated, it means ‘The Night of Power’.

To some, it is also ‘The Night of Destiny’. Muslims believe, as revealed in the Holy Quran, that this night is better than a thousand months in equivalence for the merits earned by doing righteous deeds.In other words, it may be interpreted as praying throughout this night is rewarded equally with praying for a thousand months (just over 83 years i.e. a lifetime).

Many Muslims, therefore, spend the entire night in prayers. Surah 97 of Holy Quran gives a reference to this Night.

The surah reads as follows:

“We sent it (The Holy Quran) down on the Night of Power.

And what can give you knowledge of what the Night of Power is?

The Night of Power is better than a thousand months;

The Angels and the Spirit descend during it,

By Permissionof their Lord in every matter.

Peace it is Until the Rising of the Dawn.”

The same night is obviously referred to in anotherSurah (Chapter 44, Verse 3) which reads:

“We have revealed it (The Holy Quran) on a blessed nightor Lailatu ‘l-mubarakah.”

However, as to the exact date of occurrence of the night there is no unanimity among Muslims. The traditional Muslim view is that the “Laylat al-Qadr “ mentioned in the Quran Chapter 97- which belongs to one of the early Makkan (belonging to or OF the City of Makkah) revelations, refers to one of the last odd nights of Ramadan, on which the Prophet, Peace Be Upon Him, received his call. Despite the strength of this tradition, there is nothing in the text of the Quran to support this view and nothing against it.

While Kulayni, theImami/Twelver Shia scholar, preferred either the 21st or 23rd andthe Musta’liTayyibi community i.e. the Bohras, another Shia sect, celebrate it on the 23rd night of Ramdan, the rest of the Muslims celebrate it on the 27th night.Despite these differences on the exact date, the importance and sacrosanctattached to the Night remains intact.

Like the Night of Power, the month Ramdan or Ramzaan is also mentioned in the Holy Quran along with the compulsory duties for Muslims attached with it. In the Holy Quran, details of Ramadan are found in Verses 183 through 187 of Chapter 2-Surah Baqarah [2:183 – 2:187].

Thus Verse 2:183 says:

“O you who believe, fasting is decreed for you, as it was decreed for those before you, that you may attain salvation.”

Verse 2:184 states, “Specific days (are designated for fasting); if one is ill or traveling, an equal number of other days may be substituted. Those who can fast, but with great difficulty, may substitute feeding one poor person for each day of non-fasting. If one volunteers (more righteous works), it is better. But fasting is the best for you, if you only knew.

Verse 2:185 says:

“Ramadan is the month during which the Quran was revealed, providing guidance for the people, clear teachings, and the statute book.Those of you who witness this month shall fast therein.Those who are ill or traveling may substitute the same number of other days. GOD wishes for you convenience, not hardship, that you may fulfill your obligations, and to glorify GOD for guiding you, and to express your appreciation.”

Similarly-

Verse 2: 186 guides like this, “When My Servants ask you about Me, I am always near. I answer their prayers when they pray to Me. The people shall respond to Me and believe in Me, in order to be guided.

And finally in Verse 2:187 the Holy Quran gives directions as follows:

“Permitted for you is sexual intercourse with your wives during the nights of fasting. They are the keepers of your secrets, and you are the keepers of their secrets. GOD knew that you used to betray your souls, and He has redeemed you, and has pardoned you. Henceforth, you may have intercourse with them, seeking what GOD has permitted for you. You may eat and drink until the white thread of light becomes distinguishable from the dark thread of night at dawn. Then, you shall fast until sunset.”

The methane is created when plants, and animals in the lake sink to the bottom and react with the bacteria in the water. the bacteria begins to break down the organic matter, decomposing them, slowly releasing the gas. Usually the gas floats its way to the top of the lake where it is released in the air, but when the lake freezes over, methane struggles a little more to find it’s freedom. It’s hardship shapes moving images, leaving admirers breathless.

There are many types of phytoplankton that are known to have an ability called bio-luminescence which allows them to glow as a defensive mechanism to scare predators and lure bigger predators to eat the ones looking to eat them (Oh, the circle of life). When these plankton are agitated they let off their glow creating stars in the ocean as the waves ripple them to shore.
