I have used the Gig Performer MIDI monitor to identify the PC messages being sent by the Nord’s Page up/down buttons for each song,

Uhm, it's very unlikely that Page Up/Down buttons (which are presumably global), would be sending individual PC values.

If you are a Deskew customer, please visit the Gig Performer community website and post a screenshot of the global MIDI Monitor after you press that Page Up button just once.

Resurrecting this thread to ask a variant of the question. I have a setup with a Nord Stage 4 and two monitors with large manual switches. I'd like to put them all on a power strip, and just flip the power strip on and off in order to turn on or off all three at once (which saves having to get up, reach over, and flip three switches every time I try to turn my keyboard setup on or off).

If I'm turning off the Nord by cutting its power (via the power strip) several times per day, is that a problem at all? Or is it exactly equivalent to flipping the main power switch on the Nord?

It's the same as turning off the switch on the Nord. The Nord power switch is literally just a switch between the power cord connector on the back of the Nord and internal power supply.

My situation is this: I use my Nord Stage 3 in “Song” mode, incrementing song by song through my band’s set list. I use the Nord in “hybrid” mode - I use internal sounds combined via splits and layers with VSTs and AUs on my MacBook Pro, via the Nord’s Extern section. Right now, each discrete Extern sound communicates via a discrete MIDI channel with the respective VST or AU. I use an instance of Logic for many of the sounds, and also use Pianoteq 9 and East West Opus in stand-alone mode (because using those within Logic has led to poor performance). I am hoping to instead use the Extern section of the Nord with Gig Performer.

I AM able to drive sounds in Gig Performer over MIDI and can create suitable rackspaces and songs. I AM NOT able to get Gig Performer to respond to MIDI PC messages linked with each song on the Nord. My goal is to be able to control all changes with the Page up/down buttons on the Nord, allowing me to move to any song and have the associated Gig Performer song activated. I have used the Gig Performer MIDI monitor to identify the PC messages being sent by the Nord’s Page up/down buttons for each song, and plugged this information into Gig Performer’s Song Parts dialogue (inserting PC#, MSB and LSB into the block entitled “Assign program change number for this song part”…) Doing so and clicking the Nord’s Page up/down buttons leads to no change in Gig Performer songs.

I would like to have complete detailed instructions as to how to configure the Nord and Gig Performer in order to accomplish this. I would be happy to pay someone for their time and expertise to accomplish this task. Many thanks in advance.

For two years now, I’ve been dealing with a very annoying problem. The letter “E” lights up randomly, and the preset suddenly starts playing with a very long reverb or a very long delay. This often happens during concerts, and it’s really frustrating. I have to quickly switch to the next preset and then go back to the one that changed. That fixes the problem. Technical support was absolutely no help to me. They told me to turn all the knobs and press all the buttons 20 times each. But that’s not a solution to the problem. So I just put up with it, constantly on edge. During concerts, this is bound to happen at least once

I'm thinking this is probably something happening with the potentiometers on the reverb level and delay mix knobs - most likely they're picking up vibrations from the keys while playing and are sending stray values over, which would give you a sudden increase in the delay or reverb mix (and also make the 'E" [for "edited"] show up. They might just need some contact cleaning to get dust out of there, or it could be a more involved issue if the pots themselves are not working correctly.

Thanks, you might be right. To clean the potentiometers, do I need to remove the top cover and take out the circuit board?

Hi - i was super happy to find good percussion sounds in this forum. We are a duo of piano + guitar and would like to beat up our Songs a little bit with a looper and some shaker / bongo/ cajon sounds. I would heavily appreciate if you could upgrade as well your drum sounds which are are on the soundforum for the ns4 also as nsmp3 as i use a stage 3. Would this be possible. Thank you so much!

I have a NS2 and cannot open the .nsmp3 file.
Quick research resulted that you can only convert upwards in the Nord universe - not downwards. Any further hints pls?

I’ve run into the same annoying issue where my sustain pedal just won’t stay in place during gigs. Using a big, heavy pedal helps a bit, but honestly, sometimes a cheap bit of gaffer tape underneath does as much as any fancy solution. There’s something oddly satisfying about finding a simple DIY fix instead of always needing to buy something new. I also started using those nonslip mats people mentioned, just grabbed one from a local hardware store, and it made my life a lot easier.

Hi. Should these work on a Stage 4 ? I get a duplicate name error after it tries to convert them to NS4 format.

They all should load onto the Stage 4. With Nord Sound Manager, go to "Samples", choose "Organize", then click on the Name column to sort all samples by name to determine which sample you already have that's conflicting with what you want to load. You can also try renaming the samples and then loading them. Let us know how it turns out. Good luck!

welcome to NUF (Nord User Forum) and one of the greatest and most helpful communities of musicians on the planet!

You can try do upload the Nord Stage 2 program to the Nord file viewer (see the link in my signature) which will then display all settings of that program, very helpful as a guide to recreate it on the NS4 especially for newbies training them on the job

I can only find a ns2p file- whereas I need the ns4p file

it is the wah wah sound I cant get- I am a newbie and it is too complicated for me to do from scratch.....

Ive got a Nord 3 and tasked to play Give It Up by KC and the Sunshine Band.

Ive got a few problems to solve, mainly the introduction. Ive got a nice synth sound to play the melody but then really struggling to work out how to play the riser which then brings the best of the band in. Has anyone done this and if so, any help would be appreciated

This is a lovely sound but sadly it's glitchy when sustained, there's an audible pop when it loops.

This patch (by cimaxe) is perfect: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=3284

I can confirm the glitchy sound of this sample. It cost me hours to find a problem in my setup I thought I had issues with my hard- and software issue, hat support calls with audio interface vendort etc. The other suggestions for the sample works great instaed.
