This position is also eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus, relocation assistance and temporary housing if necessary!<br></p><br><p>Join our transplant staff in histocompatability and immunogenetics testing for the renal/pancreas transplant program at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.</p><br><p>The qualified candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in science and a CHT or CHS certification by the American Board of Histocompatability and Immunogenetics is preferred.</p><br><p>Primary responsibilities include HLA typing by serologic and molecular methodologies and deceased donor matching. The technologists must be able to work independently and demonstrate the ability to make critical decisions. This position is also eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus! The shift may vary.<br><br>This position is responsible for preparing slides of human tissue for microscopic examination by embedding and cutting tissue, mounting them on slides and staining them with special dyes to make the details visible under the microscope.<br><br>This position may perform limited Immunohistochemistry duties that could include preparing slides and antibodies for loading on IHC stainers. This position may rotate to cover frozen sectioning duties at Plastic and Hand, Brighton, MMC or other facilities as needed.<br><br>Proficiency in slide distribution, equipment maintenance, filing, discarding of blocks, recycling and send-out procedures are required.<br><br>This position requires weekend and holiday call rotation.<br><br>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, interact with NorDx staff and clients professionally as well as demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy.<br><br>Knowledge of histology laboratory functions, practices and procedures acquired through a Baccalaureate degree in Histotechnology or an equivalent science and appropriate histologic training is required. Certification as a Histotechnologist by a recognized professional organization (e.g., ASCP) is required. <description><![CDATA[<tr> <td align="left" valign="top"></td></tr><tr> <td align="left" valign="top"><p> <br>Phlebotomy positions are assigned or dispatched as needed to include long term care facilities, physician offices, hospital patient units, off-site phlebotomy stations and community based outreach programs. Positions are located in the Southern Maine area.</p><br><p>Per Diem, Full and Part-Time Positions are available on 1st and 2nd shift!<br><br>When applying, please specify the working environment, schedule and shift you prefer.<br><br>This position is responsible for the collection of quality blood specimens from neonates, infants, children and adults by venipuncture, skin puncture and other techniques as appropriate, to include non-blood specimen collection, as needed. This position ensures accurate identification and maintains specimen integrity required for quality laboratory testing, organizes assigned work to consider special collections or timing requirements, priority specimen handling and laboratory testing schedules. The preferred candidate interacts with NorDx patients, clients and staff providing information and assistance as appropriate.<br><br>The preferred candidate must follow established procedures to obtain quality blood and non-blood specimens from a wide variety of neonate, infant, child and adult patients using the correct site, equipment and techniques specific to patient location, patient condition and test requested. Adheres to the established andquot;Standards of Conductandquot; as defined by NorDx policies and procedures.<br><br>The preferred candidate must be able to maintain accuracy and productivity levels in accordance with NorDx standards; identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; manage difficult or emotional situations, speak clearly and listen well, write clearly and informatively, and approach others in a professional manner.<br><br>Other responsibilities may include: Greeting patients in a prompt, friendly, professional and welcoming manner; maintain a working knowledge of ordering systems for accessing orders; process all patient test requests to include specimen triage, processing, tracking, receiving functions and performing equipment maintenance; and assist the Phlebotomy Trainer on a day-to-day basis in the training and orientation of new trainees.<br><br>Completion of high school or equivalent and completion of a phlebotomy training course and/or phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting is required. Responsibilities include identifying causes (technical or instrumental) of problems and makes simple corrections by using preset criteria.
