This is the most studied Mayan city in the world and dates back nearly 2,000 years. The society that lived there were very stratified, deeply symbolic and traditional in how they lived. The site consists of the Stelae of the GreatPlaza c.613, the ball court, the hieroglyphic stairway, and the Acropolis with superb carved reliefs of the sixteen Kings of Copan.

The Acropolis is divided in two big plazas, west and east courts. In the west court is TempleII which was meant to be a portal to the supernatural world, and in the east court is pyramid 16, known today as the Temple of the Sun, a temple of the god of war, death and sacrifice.

There are several areas of interest in these ruins such as the ball court, a place where gladiator style ball games were played. Unique are the markers on the side walls, macaw heads. It is the second biggest in Central America. The hieroglyphic stairway is a unique temple which holds the longest known Mayan text. The intricate carvings on the 63 steps represent five successors to the dynasty. The Plaza of the Stelae is another area of the site that will fascinate tourists. This area is famous for the stelae and altars erected during the years 711 and 736. Then there are the tunnels, with excavations having revealed over 4km of tunnels under the site. The ones that are open are the Rosa Lila Tunnel, built 571, and the 700m long Los Jaguars Tunnel.

The Copan Museum of Sculpture is a massive complex that has been open since 1999 and houses several key stelae and altars found at the site, including the impressive main altar carved with all the sixteen Kings of Copan. The museum has a dramatic entrance through a tunnel which you enter through the mouth of a serpent. The tunnel opens into an open courtyard with a full sized replica of the Rosa Lila Temple. The sculptures are in a beautiful open air setting. Two floors of wide corridors open to the middle for a better view of the Rosa Lila. width=540>
If you were to travel in Central America, one of the best countries to visit is Guatemala. Here are a couple of eco-adventure destinations that you can go to as you find things that you can do and enjoy while traveling in this country.
Puerto Barrios
This is an old port in Guatemala's Caribbean Coast and it used to be the main port of Guatemala. But after the earth quake of 1976 it got seriously damaged and moved to Santo Tomas de Castilla. Now it is a busy, industrial port city with virtually no appeal to tourists. It is, however, a principal transit point for trips to Livingston, Belize, and the Honduran Bay Islands. But if you decide to stay here there are a few nice beaches nearby, some fantastic tropical rain forests & interesting places to visit. There are also some good hotel options.

These are some of the nearby places you can visit:
Las Escobas waterfall
Punta de Manabique
Quirigua ruins
Amatique Bay
Livingston

And here are some of the tours offered in the area:
Bird-watching
Fishing
Snorkeling
Scuba diving
Hiking tours
Boat tours
Nightlife
Coban

This is a town located in the Alta Verapaz Department of Guatemala. It is known among travelers for being the gateway for some of Guatemala's best eco- and adventure-tourism destinations and activities. It is also a very important social and commercial center for all the surrounding villages.

The town is surrounded by many cardamom and coffee plantations. These two are the main industry in the area because of the cool, moist mountain climate. Cardamom was brought to Guatemala by German immigrants in the mid 20th century. Today, cardamom is Guatemala's fourth-most-important cash crop behind coffee, bananas, and sugar.

There are many places to visit here but the most popular ones are the natural turquoise pools of Semuc Champey and the huge complex of the Lanquin Caves. But that's not close to being the only places to visit in the area, here are some others:
Candelaria Caves
Biotopo del Quetzal
El Calvario Church
Las Victorias National Park
Mayan Prince Museum
Finca Santa Margarita
Vivero Verapaz (orchid garden)
Some Historic Facts About Coban

Many years ago when the Spaniards founded this town it was called "Ciudad Imperial". Today it is a 4,000ft. town where you will find lots of hotels, restaurants, internet cafes and bars.
Among all the adventurous activities that you crave for, surf trips are the most preferable ones owing to the thrill and adventure you get to experience with each towering wave. Hence, if you are a surfing freak and jump with joy just with the mention of surf travel, El Salvador surf trips are only meant for you.

Exciting El Salvador surf trips

A Surf travel to El Salvador unleashes all the butterflies in your belly and helps you to be exposed to an electrifying atmosphere with the heightening sea waves sending shivers down the spines of your body. With no less than a dozen high quality breaks emerging from the coastal town of La Libertad, the city is indubitably one of the most sought after destinations to opt for when it comes to planning your surf travel.

Hot sport destinations for El Salvador surf trips

It won't come as a surprise if you call El Salvador as a surfer's paradise, the exciting beaches and accentuating waves existing in this Central American country vouch for this ecumenical truth. Some of the world class waves that you can experience here include Punta Roca, La Paz, Conchalio, Sunzal, Zonte, Mizata, KM59 and more. While Punta Roca holds the distinction of being a world class wave, standing tall amidst Noosa, J-Bay and other famous point breaks of the world, La Paz is comparably more safer wave that draws the attention of the surfers who are better off with enjoying the softer side of the wave while on their surf trips.

Moving ahead, Sunzal is for all those tourists who can almost die to see persistent quasi-world class breaks while on their surf trips. If you are a cool customer of art and a keen observer of the nature's creation then Conchalio wave may well suit your taste. It shines throughout the dry season and is very speedy, barreling and thrilling wave. At times, when all the other waves are at all time low, visiting Conchalio would help you to fulfill your surfing experience at the most. Besides these, there are many more waves in this enthralling city of El Salvador that you would love for your surf travel almost any day.

Best surfing seasons

Nicaragua is home to a rich and diverse set of geometrics, biodiversity and a stunning array of plants and animals. Nicaragua is one of the largest of the Latin American countries and is filled with 7 different types of forested lands. Each forested region of the country contains its own bio and ecological diversity. You can explore the subtropical dry forest, tropical rain forest, mangrove forest, wetlands, grass savanna and tree savanna. Each side of the country differs from another so if you plan on living or visiting there make sure you plan a trip across the entire country so you can see and experience it all.

If you travel down the pacific side of the country you will experience mostly dry forest and savanna lands. Then you can make your way north along the coast and travel up into the mountain regions and breathe in the fresh scent of the pine forests. There you can then see or travel along one of central Americas longest river the Rio Coco It runs alongside the mountains that feed it in the north towards Honduras. As you travel further south you will come to the southern part of the country with the second longest river in Central America the Rio San Juan this are hold magnificent wet rain forest as far as the eye can see.

The country to the central and middle area is supreme volcano watching with many lakes, lagoons, and natural ponds. Within this landscape of formed mountains and volcanoes are a number of dormant mountains where on top you can see the crater lakes the two largest are called Lake Nicaragua and Lake Managua. From atop these mountains you can see out into the pacific were a number of doted islands are located. Ometepe Island was originally built by two volcanoes that now lay dormant but there are still a few in the area that are still active.

The climate throughout the country remains fairly constant and hot. Not so much uncomfortable hot unless your along the coast or westward dry lands. But the weather does take some getting used to if you are not use to having dry or humid conditions change rapidly from one day to the next.

With these types of environments and weather patterns it is perfect for some. Nicaragua boasts some of the most creative and dazzling display of wildlife in Central America. There are 1500 species of animals and 12000. Even more so there are routine trips to Nicaragua because there are still discovers made of new species of plants and animals and still undiscovered worlds yet to be seen.

Some of the larger species you will encounter while hiking or driving or camping in Nicaragua are panthers, jaguars’, pumas, deer’s, eagles, and of course toucans. Of course we cannot forget the different types of monkey and amphibians you will also encounter. So be weary of the animals and remember to take precautions when in the jungles. But most of all remember to leave it as you found it and not add to its still unsettled destruction by local land owners.

Nicaragua’s government has done a tremendous job in trying to protect a lot of it ecological and biodiversity in the country. They have the third largest rain forest preserve on the planet with numerous other protected areas. But, because of overpopulation poverty, and economic necessity these areas are still in danger of vanishing off the planet. The major exports from Honduras continue to burn the rain forest for their coffee and sugar Cain along with many other products. So just remember on your trip through Nicaragua’s to keep its nature the same as you left it. That way others behind you can enjoy this wonderfully diverse rainforest and mountains as well.
The Dominican Republic is a fantastic destination for holidaymakers as there is so much to see and do. Below is a list of the top 10 tourist attractions, sites and activities that we think you simply must do!

Get your groove on!
The Dominican Republic offers a fantastic array of nightlife options where you can drink, socialize, dance, gamble or revel in one of the many festivals that take place throughout the country. Options range from smaller beer/pool halls, frequented predominantly by Dominican men, to large banging nightclubs where thousands of tourists, foreigners and locals come together to bump and grind to live bands or DJ's late into the night. In addition although a good time can be had at most hotels and restaurants who offer casual bar/lounge settings whilst playing internationally recognized music and offering a range of local and international drink selections, for a real Dominican experience head to one of the locally owned bars to sample locally produced drinks and lose yourself in the rhythm of Merengue or Bachata music. You will find out there that Dominicans really know how to party!

Visit Ocean World in Puerto Plata
A visit to Ocean World in Puerto Plata is a must. As well as snorkeling in the Tropical Reef Aquarium and enjoying the sea lion, dolphin, shark and bird shows, the opportunity to dance and swim with dolphins is something you really should take advantage of. During your 30-minute encounter you'll get up close and personal with a dolphin. Dancing, hugging, petting and swimming with these most magnificent of creatures. Its a fabulous experience and the highlight, a spectacular dorsal fin tow is sure to be something you will remember for a long time!

Watch the sunrise on top of the Pico Duarte
Reigning over the spectacular Cordillera Central range at an elevation of over 3000m high, the magnificent Pico Duarte is the highest peak in all the Caribbean islands. At 23.1 km (14.4 miles) to the summit, with a total elevation change of 1,977 meters the trail is a bit of a trek to the top, (the easiest access is from the town of La Ciénega, near Jarabacoa). But once you are there the view of the sunrise over the ocean is something that will make the hairs stand up all over your body.

Get Married
Who wouldn't want to get married in Paradise? With a range of fantastic all inclusive 4 and 5 star resorts to choose from, all of which specialize in organizing and hosting fantastic weddings and the magnificent backdrop of an idyllic palm tree lined beach of fine white sand and the deep blue ocean, the Dominican Republic is definitely one of the best locations in the world to get married in. Throw in a ready made honeymoon destination, the gorgeous weather and the fact that a wedding at home is likely to be twice the price then your dream Caribbean wedding suddenly becomes very much affordable.

Go see a Baseball Game
As well as being the National Sport, baseball in the Dominican Republic is practically a religion. Brought to the country by Cuban immigrants in the 1870s, the game is now so popular that there are more Dominican players in the minor and major American leagues than all other Caribbean nationalities combined. In fact all major league teams run training camps in the Dominican Republic, to scout and train players for professional potential. So no matter where you travel to in the country you are likely to find at least one Baseball Park close by. If you happen to visit during the official baseball season between October and February be sure to catch a game as the electric atmosphere and the incredible passion the Dominican people have for the sport is something that has to be seen to be believed!

Go Whale-Watching along the Península de Samaná
At approximately 40km long and 15km wide the Península de Samaná is a small sliver of land that features rolling mountains, protected beaches and picturesque coves. It is a beautiful place in itself but the opportunities it provides for whale watching are simply breathtaking. Each year, between January and March, upwards of 5000 humpback whales return to the area to give birth and mate. The sight of these magnificent creatures sky-rocketing, tailoring, flippering and merrily cavorting through the water is quite awe inspiring. You won't be along whilst watching it. More than 45,000 people head to the Península de Samaná each year to view it. But the experience is so profound you'll feel like you are.

Take a Catamaran Cruise
Be a millionaire for a day and set sail on a luxury catamaran along the Dominican Republic's North Coast. From the Bay of Playa Dorada to the magnificent Sousa Bay let the wind carry you to wonderful, remote isolated coves bordered by crystal clear waters and pristine white sandy beaches. Most hotels and tour companies offer Catamaran cruises and when combined with a spot of snorkeling and a fabulous buffet lunch, on a bright sunny day, it turns into an unforgettable experience.

Enjoy a round of Golf
The Dominican Republic is a paradise for golfers with its great year round sunny weather, tropical setting and beautifully designed courses. Some of the resorts like the Barcelo Bavaro Golf and Casino Hotel and the Tortuga Bay at Punta Cana Resort & Club have 18 hole courses located directly on the hotel's property, while a raft of designer courses are scattered around the country. If you only have time to play on one course make it the Teeth of the Dog course at the Casa de Campo resort. Ranked number one in the Caribbean and 34th in the ‘Top 100 Best Golf Course' in the world by Golf Magazine it is a fantastic course that is a joy to play on and has been known to attract the best professional and amateur golfers currently in the game.

Snorkeling/Scuba Diving
With over 1000km of coastline the Dominican Republic offers fantastic opportunities for Snorkeling and Scuba Diving. There are many locations to explore the underwater world such as along the coast, in mangrove forests, in the bays, and in caves and the chance to see all kinds of tropical fish, plant life, coral, mantas, whale sharks, dolphins and wrecks is something you should really take. The most popular locations include Bayahibe where you can see sea grass beds, conserved coral reefs, and mangrove forests, as well as eagle rays, dolphins, lobsters, turtles, manatees, sharks, and whales, and Boca Chica which houses fine colonies of pillar, soft coral, horn coral and underwater creatures such as moray eels, trumpet fish, and stingrays. A world away from the one your reside, snorkeling and scuba diving in the Dominican Republic is a fabulous experience that will stay with you forever.

Relax on the Beach
If all these activities are too energetic for you why not just throw down a towel and ease your stresses away on one of the Dominican Republic's many awesome beaches? Distinguished by long stretches of fine white sand, tall shady palm trees and crystal clear waters there is something quite spiritual and therapeutic about soaking up the rays on a Dominican Republic Beach. There are many great ones to chose from and opinion is divided on which is the best but the Playa Grande is widely acknowledged as being right up there.
Bird-Watching in the Zapata Peninsula You may be able to spot 18 of Cuba's 24 endemic species in the swamps, mangroves, and wetlands of the Zapata Peninsula. In addition to the endemic species, bird-watchers can spot more than 100 other species of shore birds, transients, and waterfowl in this wild region. Other top bird-watching destinations include Cayo Coco, Cayo Guillermo, Baracoa, and La Guira National Park.

Fishing the Great Lakes:
Together the Great Lakes contain the biggest mass amount of freshwater in the world. These lakes lie between the United States and Canada. They are home to many different fish species. Some of the most common inhabitants of the Great Lakes are the various species of Trout, Salmon, Perch, and Bass. However, each lake is known for its own popular fish species.

For over 100 years these lakes have housed the world’s largest freshwater fisheries, containing both native and introduced species. Commercial fishing has declined in the past 100 years, but still relies heavily of the fish of the Great Lakes. On each lake there are fishing charters that go out of the many ports each day.

Lake Michigan:
The waters of Lake Michigan vary according to the area. The northern part of the lake is colder and less developed than the other lakes. Around Chicago and Milwaukee, the lake temperatures are warmer and the area is heavily developed. Lake Michigan offers nearly 100 different species of fish, the most popular being Salmon and Steelhead. Other fish located here are Alewife, Bowfin, Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Bloater, White Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Chinook Salmon, Lake Herring, Coho Salmon, Northern Pike, and White and Yellow Perch. Some of the ports and marinas of Lake Michigan are; Port Sheldon, Benton Harbor, Chicago, Winthrop Harbor, Frankfurt, Aradia, and Grand Haven.

Lake Huron:
The second largest of the Great Lakes, Lake Huron is located on the US-Canada border. A popular port on Lake Huron is Port Austin, where the Trout fishing is said to be the best in the world. There are also many other freshwater fish such as; Bass, Whitefish, Salmon, Steelhead, Walleye, Perch and Brown Trout. Lake Huron also has underwater ledges and deep water reefs that are bursting with fish. Ports and marinas located on Lake Huron are; Port Elgin, Port Huron, Port Austin, Port Franks, Grand Bend, and Saginaw Bay.

Lake Superior:
Lake Superior is the largest of all of the Great Lakes, and has the most surface area of any lake in the world. This lake holds enough water to submerge both North and South America under 1 foot of water. It is the coldest and deepest, reaching over 1,300 ft in depth. With most of the land surrounding still left as forest, it is not heavily populated. There are more than 60 different fish species located in Lake Superior. Some of these species include; Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Bloater, Carp, Chinook Salmon, Lake Herring, Coho Salmon, Lake Sturgeon, Lake Trout, Lake Whitefish, Northern Pike, Rainbow Trout, Rainbow Smelt, Ruffe, Round Whitefish, Smallmouth Bass, and White and Yellow Perch. Some of the marinas and ports located on Lake Superior are; Port Wing, Duluth Seaway Port, Twin Ports, St. Louis Bay, and Presque Isle Marina.

Lake Erie:
Lake Erie produces the most fish of all of the Great Lakes, and is the second smallest. The most prized game fish of this lake is the Chinook Salmon, also known as the “King Salmon”, recording up to 47” and 44lbs. Lake Erie also houses Yellow Perch, Coho Salmon, Brown Trout, Carp, Lake Herring, Lake Trout, Lake Whitefish, Northern Pike, Rainbow Trout, Smallmouth Bass, White Bass, Walleye, and Yellow and White Perch. It is said that there are Jumbo Perch now in Lake Ontario. Some of the popular marinas and ports of Lake Erie are; Port Clinton, Port Stanley, Port of Monroe, and Port of Erie.

Lake Ontario:
Lake Ontario, best known for its salmon and trout fishing, is located between Upstate New York and Canada. There are several different species located in this lake; Atlantic Salmon, Carp, Brown Trout, Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Lake Herring, Lake Trout, Lake Whitefish, Northern Pike, Rainbow Trout, Rock Bass, Smallmouth Bass, White Bass, and White and Yellow Perch. This lake holds many species that are unique to the area and not found in the other Great Lakes. These species include; Atlantic Salmon, American Eel, Bullheads, and Sunfish. The actual fishing season starts as soon as the ice melts. Most of the fishing in the spring takes place near the shore where the waters are warmer. The best trout fishing is in April, May and June. Once July hits, it is time to fish for Chinook salmon, Coho salmon, and steelhead. These are located farther into the lake. There are numerous fishing charters at the local Lake Ontario ports. Kingston, Little Sodus Bay, Niagara River, Oswego, Sackets Harbor and Port Dalhousie and a few of the ports surrounding Lake Ontario.

For the competitive angler; there are many fishing tournaments scheduled year round on the Great Lakes. Most occur during the spring, summer and fall months because of the ice on the lakes and the frigid temperatures in the winter. Once you have reeled in your prize winning fish, SellUrBoat.com offers helpful tips to clean and preserve your catch.
There are five Great Lakes. Only one of them, Lake Michigan, lies entirely within the borders of the United States. The other four Great Lakes, Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, form the largest part of the southern border of the Canadian province of Ontario. They also form portions of the northern borders of New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin and the eastern border of Minnesota.
These inland seas were formed during the earths most recent Ice Age. Officially called the Pleistocene Epoch, the Ice Age started 1.6 million years ago and did not end until 10,000 years ago. The Lakes are connected to the Atlantic by the deep draft, 3,700 kilometer, 2,340 mile, St. Lawrence Seaway. This engineering marvel allows ocean-going vessels to travel from the Atlantic to the middle of the continent.
The Seaway enters the Lakes at the eastern end of Lake Ontario, which as a surface area of 19,500 km, or 7,540 sq mi. The largest city on the shore of Lake Ontario is Toronto, Ontario. Other large cities on the Ontario side are Kingston, Mississauga, Oshawa and Pickering. On the US shore the only major city is Rochester, New York. The 18th and 19th Century fortifications in Kingston are popular Ontario lake tourism attractions.

Southeast from the Seaway at the opposite end of Lake Ontario a series of deep water locks allow ships to cross into the 25,700 square km, 9,940 sq mi, of Lake Erie. On Eries shores are Buffalo, New York, Cleveland and Toledo, Ohio, and Erie, Pennsylvania. The lock system that bisects the land bridge between Lakes Ontario and Erie is known as the Welland Canal, a favorite stop for Ontario lake tourism.
To travel further west on the Great Lakes of Canada, one exits Lake Erie heading due north into the Detroit River. The St. Lawrence Seaway was built by dredging out and building locks along the St. Lawrence River. The passage for ocean-going ships between Lake Erie and Lake Huron involved dredging out and building locks along two rivers, the Detroit and the St. Clair.
The Detroit runs south from Lake St. Clair into Lake Erie. The St. Clair River runs south from Lake Huron into Lake St. Clair. Lake St. Clair, which lies on the Canada-USA border, was also dredged to deep draft depths.
Once in Lake Huron, one can travel for northwest to Michigan and Superior or one can head due north to Georgian Bay. This body of water is 320 km or 200 mi, long and 80 km or 50 mi wide and covers approximately 15,000 sq km. It is sometimes referred to as the sixth Great Lake.
Georgian Bay is separated from Lake Huron by the Niagara Escarpment, one of the most stunning features of Ontario lake tourism. The Escarpment is a ridge of bedrock that was forced to the surface by the glaciers that formed the Great Lakes. It runs from eastern New York State, is bisected by Niagara Falls and curves up north along the eastern shore of Lake Huron. At the tip of the Bruce Peninsula, a part of the Escarpment, are some of the most spectacular landscapes to be found in Ontario lakes tourism.
There's a Las Vegas Hoover Dam tour for every budget. Bus, helicopter, and airplane - they're all affordably spectacular. If you've ever wanted to see this icon of engineering, do it while visiting Vegas.

Hoover Dam is located a mere 45 minutes from Las Vegas. The arch-gravity structure has been holding back the Colorado River for more than 75 years. The dam epitomizes what it means to be huge. Check out these facts:

1. It's 726.4-feet tall, making it the second tallest dam in the U.S. behind the Grand Coulee in Washington state.

2. It's 1,244-feet long. The dam crosses formidable Black Canyon and connects Nevada with Arizona.

3. It's 660-feet thick. Before the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge opened in Oct. 2010, the top of the bridge was a two-lane road on which 13,000 to 16,000 cars crossed daily. How popular is Hoover Dam? Between eight to 10 million people visit it annually, coming by bus, helicopter, and airplane.

Bus tours are the most economical way to see the bridge. Trips include hotel pick up and drop off and lunch. The motor coach goes through Henderson and Boulder City, NV, and then along Lake Mead National Recreation Area before descending into Black Canyon. Now starts your Hoover Dam tour, which may include:

1. Walking the top of the dam from Nevada to Arizona.

2. The official U.S. Government's V.I.P. Discovery Tour of the Interior (takes you to the bottom to see the turbine generators at work).

3. Exploring the Visitor's Center's exhibits, movie room, and observation deck.

It's possible to bundle a helicopter flight, plane ride, or boat cruise into your bus tour package. Trip duration for the basic bus package is 3.5 hours.

Helicopter and airplane air tours are also available. Flights leave from Las Vegas every day of the year. The flight plan includes Lake Mead and Hoover Dam. Helicopters fly at a lower altitude than airplanes, which usually include Hoover Dam as part of a Grand Canyon West Rim air package. Tour duration ranges from 3.5 hours to 5.5 hours. Both packages bundle free hotel shuttle service.

Book your Hoover Dam tour in advance. There are two reasons for this: 1) It's cheaper; and 2) you're guaranteed to get a seat. For the cheapest prices, I strongly recommend you purchase your tour online. To get the best deal, buy direct from the tour operator. I know it sound counter-intuitive, but it's the company that's running the tour that will sell it to you at the lowest price.

Las Vegas Hoover Dam tours are perfect for travelers looking for a quick day trip from the Las Vegas Strip. There's an adventure for every budget. Bus tours are the most economical. Helicopters are best for getting a true bird's eye view of the dam. Airplane tours include the dam as part of the flight to the West Rim. Hoover Dam's been fascinating visitors for years. View it airborne or by foot - you will not be disappointed.
The Panama Canal is an engineering feat as well as a tribute to the power of the human imagination. The forty-eight mile long canal creates a passageway between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Prior to the canal being built ships would have to sail by using the Drake Passage, which was dangerous and long. The canal cut the travel time in half. But building the canal was an expensive and dangerous and took a long time to complete. Over twenty seven thousand workers died during construction and it cause around 375 million dollars to complete. There is a new project along the canal to allow it to accommodate more traffic and to update two more flights of docks. The cost of this project is estimated to be 5.25 billion dollars and will be completed sometime in the year 2015. The Panama Canal has attracted industry and business to the country, but tourists travel to Panama for its beauty. When visiting Panama you should not miss taking a trip on the canal.

After visiting the canal you might be interested in visiting a rainforest. Panama is one of the best places to visit a rainforest - it may be only ten minutes away from your hotel! The Parque Natural Metropolitano is in the city limits of Panama City. There is a road that will take you to observation area where you can see hundreds of plant and animal species. Stop at Los Trinos to bird watch, Cedar Hill is the highest point at 492 feet above sea level and there are several trails that you can hike. The Mono Titi Trail and La Cienaguita trails are moderate and will take you about one hour to complete. Other trails include Los Caobos, Los Momotides and El Roble all can be completed in an hour or less. If you wish to avoid crowds take the Caobos Trail and the easiest trail is Momotides. At the top of the hill you can see the Pacific Ocean, the entrance of the Panama Canal and the islands - Flamenco, Naos, Perico, Taboga and Taboguilla. The best time to see birds is either early or late in the day.

Other things to do in Panama include river rafting at the Rio Chargres/Chiriqui Grande. Hike the Parque Natural Metropolitano. Have a picnic in the Summit Botanic Gardens. Take a night tour of the Avenida Balboa. Go to the Causeway and visit the Smithsonian facilities. Camp in the Parque Nacional Campana. Go to Lake Gatun and fish or visit the Barro Colorado Island. Back pack to Bocas del Toro and San blas o playa Venao. Travel to Taboga and visit the Wild Life Refuge. Capture pictures of the Aguila Harpia the most dangerous prey bird in the world. Visit one of the many different Regional Fairs that may be in progress.

Panama has so much to do in such a small area. If you are interested in a trip that will provide you with an opportunity to do something unusual for a reasonable price - choose Panama.
Although referred to as three parks in one sometimes the Olympic National Park is really just one park that encompasses several ecosystems. The three ecosystems that divide the park are the rainforest, Olympic mountains, and the Pacific coastline. Olympic National Park is located in the upper northwestern corner of the state in an area known as the Olympic Peninsula.

The park is very interesting to visit because of its location and its three different ecosystems, but also because there are species there that are not anywhere else on earth. The reason why is the mountain range closes the peninsula off from the rest of the land and certain species evolved here that did not elsewhere. The park is a biological reserve and it is studied on a regular basis to better understand what makes the park so special and how animals evolved here.

Tourists love the Olympic National Park because of the beauty, nature, and outdoor sports like hiking and backpacking. It is especially cool to backpack along the beach for several days. This is no problem because the coastline is very long and provides the perfect place for backpackers to trek through the natural beauty. Hurricane Ridge is a great place within the park to visit during the winter months for the Nordic and alpine skiing.

There are several roads on the peninsula, but none of them make it into the depths of the peninsula rendering much of it wilderness that may only be explored on foot. Because of this visiting the park for a brief time will not do it justice. So, plan a couple days or at the very least one full day to dedicate to exploring the beauty of Olympic National Park.

Some of the best things to do in the park, for those who don’t know, include the following. Doing these activities will ensure you get the best of the park. You should definitely climb all 7,965 feet of Mt. Olympus. Also, backpack the 57 miles of coast and raft the rivers. Hike the Grand Ridge Trail that is above the tree line and provides unbelievable views from a very precarious trail. Sea kayak the coast of the park, soak in the hot springs, and watch the salmon migrate. If you can fit all of these activities into your vacation to the park then you will certainly get the best experience possible.
The good news for visitors is that on 9:00 to 3:00, they can enter the Observatory and get up close and personal view of the Hale telescope. Scientists worry that you've done with the telescope. However, the size of the machine and the importance of the work here is enough to make you feel like you are visiting a small piece of the history of science in Pattaya property.
