If you have ever walked or driven along Lonsdale Avenue in North Vancouver, you definitely have seen a nice park on both sides of yours from 7th to 8th street. This park, with its central location, is called “Victora Park”. There are some monuments of World War and World War 2 in the park, to recall everyone of those great heros fought for the freedom of not only Canada but the whole world. This is how it looks like.

The place is known as “North Vancouver Cenotaph”. For more information about this monument please visit this webpage (War Monuments Website).

This is the map of the area, in case you want to get to Victoria Park.

Once, I was waiting at the bus stop on Lonsdale to get to the Lonsdale Quay, while I shot this video. This is a short video showing around the bus stop and Victoria Park.

There is a nice horse sculpture, as it can be seen in the video, in Victoria Park. I have found a picture of it online and this is it:

You can learn more about this horse sculpture clicking this link. Apparently this sculpture is only 3 years old and has been made in 2007.Similar Posts:

A week ago I have changed my price plan with rogers and was eligible for a hardware upgrade. Due to the high demand of Iphone 4, I couldn’t get an Iphone. However, I have had the chance to get a new Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 or a new Blackberry 9700 for 99.99 dollars plus 35 activation fee.
I was trying out the Xperia X10 for quite a bit. I can say it is not what you expect from a smartphone. I have had an IPhone 3G for almost a year and now I am using a Nokia 5800.

The first problem with Xperia X10 was its battery life. It can give you the expected battery life if you don’t install any application or use any special feature of the phone like new applications or even its own Timescape.

The screen is big, but I don’t think the problem is with the screen, cause IPhone has the same size screen as well. After installing some application, don’t ASTONISH if you see your battery goes from 100 percent to 0 in 6 hours. Then you realize that you need some application to limit the capability of your phone by disabling the data connection, GPS connection and other background application while in standby. Even using this preferences won’t help the battery life for a long time. You only can barely survive a day if you see some videos on youtube, checking your email often throughout the day, do some texting and making some calls.

The only good thing about the X10 is its 8.1 megapixel camera. It is something to be loved and take some cool pictures. However, the flash on the camera is not that good. The flash on my own nokia 5800 is much much better than X10. Although the android market can not be compared with the OVI market by Nokia, but I can find the applications I need in OVI. There is an application for forsquares called waze, skype and many more. Forgot to mention that there is no skype for XPeria X10. It is a big disadvantage.

The interface is not even friendly at all. There is no foldering in the Xperia X10 and you can barely add all your applications in the main homepage. If you even want to install AWD.Laucher, a very nice home application for android phone, you will be in trouble receiving calls. Since there is a special interface in X10 receiving calls and general home application like the above are not supporting that. It is not really rational and even cool for a phone to install an application and then not be able to answer a phone call, the basic functionality of a phone.Similar Posts:

This is a video I’ve found on youtube, it has been created by hotforwords. Inspired by the lady gaga and beyonce’s telephone song. With all these hassles about IPhone 4 and its problems, this is the best time to think about telephone and its roots.

Some history on telephone:

The word telephone comes to us from the Greek tele meaning far and phonos meaning sound. Original telephones were any devices used to convey sounds over great distances.
The first telephone of sorts was invented by Robert Hooke in 1667 when he tied two pieces of string between two cups and pulled the string tight.. he ended up with the first string telephone.
Then in the early 1800s, ships used devices they called telephones to signal other ships in foggy weather… these were basically foghorns, though that usages became obsolete shortly thereafter. Then in 1876 Alexander Graham Bell used the telephone term to describe his device for communication over a distance using wires.

The first words uttered by Bell on the 10th of March 1876 were:

“Mr. Watson, what are you wearing right now?”

And phone sex was born!

So a telephone originally described a device used to send sound over great distances like a horn, then it applied to a device that used wires to transmit the sound. Later on it also applied to wireless devices that did the same thing.. cellular phones, cellphone, or mobile phones.. their all just updated telephones used for transmitting and receiving sounds over great distances.
There you go, another mystery solved..

Hello..

Hold on.. I can’t hear you.. we need to pull the string tight… There you go.. I can hear you now!
What? If the string worked for Robert Hooke with the 2 cups, I figured it would work for my iPhone 4! Great idea right?

Back to phone.. What. You’re in jail for poisoning everyone in a restaurant? I can’t help you this time, call your friend B.Similar Posts:

Are you one of MasterCard users around the world ? Are you cheering like me when see they are the major sponsor of the UEFA championships and other major soccer (or football in Europe) tournaments ? Have you recently received a pamphlet in your mail introducing the new feature (and always the new feature is the best they have) of Paypass, where you only need to pass your Master-Card by the machine and it will do all the work ? No need for signature and it will be more than easy to handle a card. But, have you ever wondered about a security reach this new technology might introduce ? Watch this video talking about the new technology and how it can hacked.

Why not watch another Master Card advertisement to persuade us to use the new technology ?

Last weekend, and more specifically on June 12th, I and some of my friends have visited a park in west vancouver called Lighthouse park. It has a nice trail, which is categorized as an easy one and nice views. The name of the park is based on the fact that there is a lighthouse there, prompting ships and boats where the land begins in order to keep their distance and not crash.
It was a sunny day, lots of people had been there for a walk or sun bathing. There was also an amateur model was being taken picture of.
I had taken so many pictures there. The one I really like is the one below, I make a panorama picture out of images I took. The image is almost 2 megabytes in size, so you need to have patience or high speed of internet to view it completely.

You should have heard about Seabus if you have been to Vancouver or planning to. Seabus is a bus moving on the Sea (actually Pacific Ocean) and transfers people from North Shore (North Vancouver) to Downtown Vancouver. The capacity of Seabus is huge. It is so huge that at the time of Vancouver 2010 Olympics it was compared to the capacity of an airplane and professionals were discussing the issue of security and terrorist attacks on that.

Anyway, I got a video while sitting in Seabus. It is a view while siting in Seabus and looking outside and watching ocean. It was a sunny day and hope you enjoy the view and scenery.
