the chance briefcase

2012-01-13T10:34:00.001-05:00

As I was wandering through shopbop.com, I came across this lovely briefcase by Rebecca Minkoff. If I were to have a briefcase this would definitely be the one. I love the structure of the bag itself mixed with the the edgy detailing of the gold studs and fringe zipper. The black ostrich finishes off the bag into a polished piece that I would certainly want in my closet. Wouldn't you?

the wonderful people and outfits of nyfw

2011-09-20T15:21:00.002-04:00

One of my favorite aspects of fashion week has got to be just observing what everyone is wearing. Glamorous or laid back, these people certainly create their own show, styling themselves with a unique creativity. These are not the models on the runway but the people who strut the clothing out on the streets. Photographers would flock to these people to get a photo and so I had to get my bite in too. What do you think? What would you wear to New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week?

nanette lepore

2011-09-19T12:05:00.004-04:00

Last wednesday I got to see the Nanette Lepore show at Lincoln Center. Neon colors flew down the runway captivating the entire audience. Each look was bright and youthful giving way to a fun filled spring. With the combination of live music by Sam Bisbee and beautiful clothing of Nanette Lepore, the atmosphere was one of a youthful brillance. Does this make you want to take on the neon splash?

xo,

nicole

First look down the runway definitely set the tone for the entire show. Bright florescents all the way.

Citron is usually not my color of choice but somehow on this runway it worked. Otherwise I'm not sure how many people could pull this electric look off on the streets.

The contract of the light blue lace and tangerine dress is what caught my attention. What about yours?

In person this tangerine embroidered top showed movement with it's fringe-like bottom detailing..

Pretty lace, I must in spring.

The cutout on the back of this dress is what made me love it.

Bright spring prints.

This dress was amazing in person, the splash floral print and flow of fabric moved beautifully.

Herve Leger by Max Azria

2011-09-16T00:04:00.002-04:00

Tuesday afternoon I had the pleasure of volunteering for the Herve Leger by Max Azria show. My first Mercedes-Benz fashion week show and it was amazing. Watching the models come out and watching the production of the entire show gave me goosebumps. This season Azria demonstrated a tribal and gladiator type look with tall strapped gladiator boots and gold, silver, black, nude and white. Gold hardware and cutout details gave the dresses an edge. While bandage dresses are not new for the Herve Leger collections, these were still eye captivating and drew the audiences attention. Especially the maxi white dress, the last off the runway and my personal favorite.

xo,

nicole

Fierce and powerful were words used to describe the collection.

The tribal inspiration lives on through the season.

Nudes have become a spring favorite. It's hard to go wrong.

I love the wide fringe detailing. It creates a playful texture.

My absolute favorite dress of the show. This looked beautiful going down the runway.

new york mercedes-benz fashion week

2011-09-14T23:18:00.002-04:00

Yesterday was by far one of the happiest days of my life. I got to work and see my first new york mercedes-benz fashion week show. As a volunteer I got to assist with the production of the Herve Leger by Max Azria show. All I can say was it was amazing and one of most incredible experiences that I hope to be able to do over and over again through life. After the show I went to the Teen Vogue Haute Spot where I was able to meet one of my favorite bloggers, Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad. Once again I cannot describe how happy I was. I first discovered Chiara's blog a few year's ago after enjoying her looks on lookbook.nu and have ever since read every post. Her blog inspired me to start mine and I recommend all of you to take a look at it! Today I assisted another show which I will talk about tomorrow(Hint: think neon!). Can you guess which one?

FNO 2011

2011-09-11T15:11:00.002-04:00

As you all may know, Fashion's Night Out was held a couple nights ago on September 8th in NYC. I had the pleasure of experiencing the event for the very first time and am glad to say it was absolutely amazing. The important thing to remember about FNO is how to plan your night. You must prepare yourself beforehand upon what you want to see, who you want to meet and where all the events will be. Although I really wanted to meet Rachel Zoe at bloomingdales, I settles and landed off the subway on bleeker st. where Marc Jacobs Carnival and the Teen Vogue pop-up tent were the main attractions. So much fashion and energy filled the streets and stores. I can't wait for next year already!

For the night I wanted to wear something fun with a little bit of sofistication. I paired a peony pink skirt, black blazer, marc jacobs zipper necklace and the FNO t-shirt that I purchased that night.

Here, my friend Kat and I attended a Rent The Runway event where we enjoyed drinking champagne and trying on beautiful necklaces.

I have many more photos that I need to post so hopefully I can get everything organized! 2011-04-07T12:03:00.002-04:00

These are all my designs from my fashion show I recently directed. The show was amazing and I wish I could do it a thousand times over again! Each designer chose a charity of choice to help raise money for and we ended up raising over $300. Most of which went to the red cross in support of Japan. A huge success for a high school fashion club fashion show! Tell me what you think of my models?

I got my Michael Kors Tortoise Bezel watch!!! yay Since the day I saw this watch on the wrist of a girl in the airport, I have been in love. The tortoise accent and brown face makes this golden watch easy to wear with different things. I also like the fact that it has a little date window because I can never remember the day! Do you like it?

South Padre Island

2011-02-25T12:54:00.000-05:00

South Padre Island was beautiful. I wore a white mini dress(it was so hot out!) and was barefoot for the majority of the time. And as for the safety of my eyes I went to my go to my sunglasses of choice...ray-bans with such a classic shape, they can never go wrong. I painted my toes this coral color which I hunted for and finally found at, no other than, forever21 which I had to buy in bulk for I use it all summer long.

There's nothing more perfect than a maxi dress for warm breezy nights. You can dress it up or down and I've recently started pairing it up with a crop top or a belt. I like the transparency of the lace top, being able to see black underneath and the addition of the keds makes the outfit more casual. We ended up eating barbecue for dinner and the place was filled with character which I loved slash I am still enjoying finding foods and drinks that don't exist in Maine!

An absolutely beautiful day it was yesterday.I took my mum's old shorts and brought them back to life. I love that they're high waisted and they're perfect with a crop top. I also carried my trusty marc jacobs tote which is oh so useful when running various errands. Sunshine always makes me happy and makes me want to add splashes of colour to my outfits which I did through my statement necklace made with my some of my favorite summer colours, turquoise and coral. What do you think?

I picked up this ring the other day at the flee market and I absolutely love love love it. I don't really own any statement rings so this one was perfect! We were supposed to go the beach yesterday but the wind was absolutely terrible so we ended up going shopping...i had no objection... I went into Betsy Johnson where I fell immediately in love with a fur coat but was unable to buy(travel) and went into the Fossil store where I fell in love with a Micheal Kors watch which I might go back and buy...should I? The funny thing about this watch is that I saw a girl on my plane ride wearing the same one and I was like "wow I really like that!" ...I think it's destiny..

¡Hola! I started out the day eating yummy tamales and ended it eating fresh fruit. I spent the day in a floral sun dress, strolling through the South Texas Museum Fair and the flee market where I made a few purchases. Everyone speaks spanish here(I understand quite a bit after 5 years of study) and people seem so alive. The air smells so sweet and even the wind is warm making walks so so lovely. I had to wear my sweater again because there was a slight wind and it's the only one I packed! How are you all doing? Any other travel stories? I'd love to hear!

off to Texas...

2011-02-19T21:33:00.002-05:00

Yesterday I woke up early, finished my packing and headed off to the Portland airport with my mum and sister. Our destination...Edinburg, Texas to visit my sister and niece. Packing for a trip...it's hell. I managed to pack only 2 dresses, a few shirts and a couple pairs of shorts with the idea in mind that I will be making many purchases while there:) My marc jacobs tote was perfect to hold my "essentials" for the plane including, Vogue featuring Lady Gaga, the novel The Handmaid's Tale, my iphone, laptop and ray-bans. It's also very important to be comfortable so I opted to wear something that would easily transition through the weather changes. Black jeggings, t-shirt, a light sweater(I'm obsessed and wore it today as well!) and a large vintage scarf that doubled as a blanket. I absolutely love it here and can't wait to show you more photos!

Black Mountain and Bunny Boots

2011-02-15T08:21:00.002-05:00

Sunday morning my father, sister and I all woke up early to head to the mountain. I love to ski during the winter and the conditions were beautiful. These are some photos of my day (once again taken from my iphone:( ). My outfit is composed of a roxy ski jacket, an intense helmet which I have covered in stickers over the years and my periwinkle ski pants. I've always been interested in ski/snowboard culture...next post idea?

I planned on updating my blog with new photos from this weekend in North Conway except I FORGOT MY CAMERA. How does this happen? I have no idea...ughhh well I took a few photos on my iphone so the quality is a bit awful. We arrived in North COnway, New Hampshire this afternoon and settled in a room by Attitash Mountain. My sister, my dad and I then all went into to town so that we could search through our favorite candy and goods shop "Zeb's". More tomorrow!
