Review of Restaurant Victoria

Restaurant Victoria is a restaurant and bar which opened July 2011. It is run by award winning chef, Raymond McArdle. It was formally known as the Bourbon on Great Victoria Street. The website isnt up yet and Ive not seen them on Facebook so far.I had dinner there one Friday evening and was in time to choose from the good value set menu (2-courses 15 and 3-courses 20). There is a Prestige menu at 50 but that was too rich for my blood! For starters I had potted salmon with prawns (fancy prawn cocktail) with salad and Guinness wheaten bread. It was delicious especially the sauce...normally the sauce is insipid or plasticy this was tangy, rich but not clawing. The dressing on the salad had a lovely fresh citrus flavour whilst the wheaten bread had a good Guinness flavour but not over-powering. A companion had rigatoni pasta with goat's cheese and rocket which was a main meal on its own. The third of our party also had the prawn/salmon starter and like me cleared her plate! Our main courses were beautifully presented. I had chosen a steak burger which was cooked to medium served with salad, gherkins a delicious relish on a foccacia bap. I asked for the fries to be changed to champ which was not a problem. In hindsight I should have asked for veg simply because the bread was enough for the carb section. You can't eat a burger elegantly and I didn't try to...it was juicy and delicious. One companion had the cod gougons. The batter was light and crisp with the cod juicy, nicely cooked. My final companion had chicken and mushroom served in a puff pastry case. Again she was delighted with her dinner. There were fries served too which went down well.We had a bottle of Pinot Grigio too but no dessert. There was no-where to put it! The only slight negative was the lack of a peppermint or green tea option but I'm sure its only a matter of time before someone runs out and buys a couple of boxes!I would recommend Restaurant Victoria based on this visit. The serving team were attentive but not invasive. It was the 12th week so things were quite. I will be making a return visit.. Submitted by Anagasna

Review of Arbutus

Terrible, terrible, dined here in the evening, the food was terrible smothered in bland sauce, the monkfish was supposed to be fresh but had been frozen for a long time then overcooked. I guess the chef must have been on holiday. I did not eat or pay. Never again, spoiled my wifes birthday treat. .

Review of Spur Steak And Grill

Food is frozen dirt, playroom is excellent idea. Ribs here require razor teeth, its like chewing on a burnt wild boar that has been dug up from the artic.Dont like places that try and give the kids 50p frozen pizzas, not good. But guess what? Kids love it because of the play room. Submitted by Mickey Marley

Do not order the thai red curry. Very disappointing- more like a tomato pure curry to be frank. I called them to complain that it wasn't very "thai" more spicy tomato but they pretty much brushed me off and said I would be better ordering from Thai Village- I agree. .
Review of Burger King Junction 1 Antrim

I regularly go to Burgerking with my wife and children. It is a very well run restaurant but I have noticed a few things which are surely out of order in such an up to standard eatery. The staff are all very well trained and know exactly what they should be doing and when but on some occasions i wait quite a long time for my food espescially when a certain member of male staff is serving me, he very rarely smiles and he is half the reason i have came forward to make a complaint. I have heard him being told off quite a few times by other team members but he usually has something to say back to these instructions and very rarely listens. Everything in the restaurant runs smoothly usually but when it doesnt surely it is up to the manager to ensure things get corrected. I have noticed on more than one occasion that a man in a suit is there, I'm assuming he is the store manager or site manager but he doesnt really seem to do anything except stand around making orders and drinking some sort of hot beverage. Every time i have been to Junction 1 he is never doing anything productive, unless being on the phone constantly counts as being productive. Thank you for taking the time to read my complaint. Thank you. . Submitted by Michael

Review of Restaurant Victoria

On a recent trip to Belfast I visited the Restaurant Victoria, formally known as the Bourbon on Great Victoria Street.I have to say it was a really pleasant atmosphere with attentive staff and extremely well cooked fresh food. They have an early evening menu with 2 courses for 15 and 3 for 20 Monday-Thursday from 5pm-7pm is excellent. So good that I returned a couple of days later.I strongly recommend checking this wonderful place out for yourself if you are in the city..

Review of La Cuisine Antrim Road

I went for lunch with my wife. The food was fine, not great by any means. We both asked for a glass of water. It was tap water and i assumed it was free. i was surprised to find they charged us 1.75 per glass. Overall i would say it is more expensive than anything else. On that basis i would not go back as i have had much nicer food for much less money else where..... Submitted by m

Review of Mr Indian

this place has to be the best kebab shop ever, there nann bread is 1st class and there ability to make your very own kebab to suit your taste is outstanding, never once have i had a bad meal from here and i am always looking for new versions that mr indian offers in there kekabs, but if you want a tasy kebab have a mixed kebab (chicken tikka, lamb tikka, doner meat) with fried onion and fresh chilli peppers all wrapped up in nann bread and served with chilli and garlic sauce, throw in a can of coke and have it delivered to your door for under 6.50, a bargain at that and a belly filler, i have also ate there curries and reccommend the chicken and lamb tikka vindaloo with rice and garlic nann bread, plenty of meat and just enough for two, its on the hot side but can be made milder or hotter to suit yor tatse, all in all this is by far the best kebab shop i have eaten from and believe me i have been eating from kebab shops for over 15 years now, so i guess i can give a heads up on this one.. p.s i eat here twice a week, firday night is kebab night and wedensday is curry night.. enjoy...
Review of The Chippy New Mossley

i live in newmossly for many yrs but have to say the sailorman was by far the best chippy, the chippy food is ok goujons and chicken burgers are lovely thats about it,staff are fast and friendly but the prices are awful for the little portions you get,and thats if you get what you ask for....i only use the chippy for chicken burgers other wise i go to the cod house....the portins are great value for money and food is nice they also do scallops witch is great....
Review of Del Toro

My wife and I have been regulars at Del Toro for a year. We don't understand the reviews that state the service is poor and food average. Can't help wondering what establishments the folk are eating in. Hard to imagine they are in Lisburn. We give most of the restuarants in the town a 'turn', Del Torro is, in our view, the best for food, service, value for money and ambience. You really do need to judge for yourself as the poor reviews don't reflect in any way our experience in the past year..
