The Rivermen (2-1-0) sail into town tonight to write the next chapter in one of the longest Monday night rivalries versus the Northern Lights (3-0-0). Ryan Barth and Matt Parisi lead the Rivermen in total points with 8 and 7 points respectively. The Lights offense is led by Tyler Eliot (4-5-9), Chris Carrier (4-4-8), and Paul Frishman (4-4-8).
The action begins at 6:15PM at the las Vegas Roller Hockey Center. Be there or Be Square!

Surrender (1-1-0) rolls into town this coming Monday night to face off against the Northern Lights (2-0-0) in what is guaranteed to be a great contest. The Lights are looking to firmly establish their hold on first place in the division, whilst Surrender will be trying to build off of their 13-5 victory over Donkey Punch last week. Come on down to the Las Vegas Roller Hockey Center and catch the drama unfold this coming Monday at 7:00PM. The Northern Lights Radio Network will return shortly after next weeks' game to recap the first 3rd of the season.

Lights Get Early Christmas Present

Santa Claus had an early present for the Northern Lights (2-0-0) as they made it two in a row, defeating the Kings by a score of 8-4. The Lights got off to a slow start, but the team found their footing and controlled the puck and finished on some key quality opportunities. Chris Carrier tallied a hat trick while Paul Frishman racked up a two goal performance.
The Kings are a competitive team that skates hard so it means a lot that the Lights were able to overcome the slow start and win battles from the second period on. Joe also had a solid night in net for us as well.
The Northern Lights do not play again until after the New Year so from everyone here, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! The Northern Lights Radio Network will return after our next game to recap the season thus far.

Lights Open the Season with a Strong Victory

The Norther Lights (1-0-0), started things off on the right foot, defeating Donkey Punch (0-1-0) in the season opener by a score of 5-2. The Lights controlled the tempo for most of the game as they kept the puck in the Punch's zone for much of the contest. The 4 time champions looked comfortable in this season's debut but know they have to pick up the pace as well as their intensity for the matchups to come.

The Northern Lights begin the winter season this upcoming Monday, December 12th @9:45PM versus Donkey Punch.
The two teams last met in the first round of the playoffs, with the Lights winning by a score of 9-4. The Punch went 4-4-2 last regular season and were led in total points by Matt Gregory, who tallied 17 Goals/8 Assists for 25 points.

Donkey Punch (2-1-1) rolls into town tonight at 6:45PM as the Northern Lights (3-0) try to continue their multi-season win streak, (they have won their last 6 regular season games over the span of two seasons), as well as gain their 100th franchise win in the Monday Night League. The tale of the tape is as follows; The Lights are 9-3-0 lifetime against Donkey Punch with 47 goals scored and 36 goals against. An interesting statistical anomaly is that win or lose, Donkey Punch has never scored more than 4 goals against the Lights in any single game.

Come on down to the Las Vegas Roller Hockey Center to catch the awesome hockey action.

The Kings of Pahrump (2-0) roll into town next Monday at 6:45PM to do battle with the defending League Champion Northern Lights (2-0). The tale of the tape is as follows; For the regular season, the Lights are 4-1-0 lifetime against the Kings with 24 goals scored and 16 goals against. Mundo Veloz is atop the Kings scoreboard with 4 goals and 2 assists in 2 games. Winning their last match 5-4 over Donkey Punch, the Kings will be looking to take 1st place away from the Lights while the Lights look to extend their win streak to 6 games, winning the last 5 regular season games dating back to April 4th.
The Lights are led in total points by Tyler Elliot (5-2-7), followed by Nick Taylor (3-2-5).

The Northern Lights Radio Network will return this Friday with a full game recap by Tyler Elliot as well as some interesting statistical insights by yours truly.

The Northern Lights are once again the Monday Night League Champions, fighting uphill battles in defeating the Rivermen and the Decepticons for their 4th Danley Cup in 8 Seasons. We kind of got lucky in the first round game against the Rivermen, but held on, and played brilliantly against the 'Cons, although their bench was depleted. It's waaaaay too late for me to do the podcast, but I promise I will record a recap of tonight's events by Wednesday the latest.

I will be sad and a little lost next week as I begin my sabbatical from the team, but to "go out on top", as well as score a goal in the Cup game is about as good of a way to do it. I will follow the team from afar for now and one day will return to the trenches of league play, but for now I plan on savoring the victory for a little while at least.

Regular Season Ends Tonight

The Northern Lights (5-4-0) face off tonight at 7:30PM against Donkey Punch as the Punch's playoff hopes hang in the balance. Since changing the name to Donkey Punch 4 seasons ago, the Lights are 8-3-0 with 41 Goals Scored and 32 Goals Against. The Punch need to win to secure the final playoff spot for next week, and the right to play the currently 9-0 Decepticons in the first round. If the Lights happen to win, that forces a tie between the Punch and the winner of the Kings V. Red Wings game earlier in the evening. If the Red Wings do win, then I believe the Punch wins the tie breaker as they have 12 Goals For against the Red Wings 9 Goals Against in their head to head games. Now if the Kings win, then things get interesting. The Punch and Kings would be tied in the stadnings, tied in the head to head AND tied in Goals For and Goals against (8), thus the third tie breaker I believe is Goals Scored against like opponents. I didn't have a chance to look that up but that is what the third tier tie breaker would be.

Come on down to the Las Vegas Roller Hockey Center and watch the drama unfold.

Lights Comeback Against Rivermen, Await Playoff Rematch....B

The Northern Lights staged a 3rd period comeback and defeated the Rivermen 3-2 last Monday night in what is a preview of this season's first round playoffs. Change is in the air yet there is work still to be done as the Lights march on to the end of this regular season.

It's time for a classic Monday night league game as the 3rd place Northern Lights face off against the 2nd place Rivermen. In 15 regular season games, the Lights are 20-13-1 lifetime with 140 goals scored and 115 goals against. Both teams are 2 of the longest tenured teams in the Monday night league, along with the Decepticons.
