Runners taking part in Sunday's Hull 10k were left to rue a traffic issue that caused the course to be a kilometre short. The diversion, caused by a bridge failure close to Hull Marina, was announced at the start line to a mixed reaction from the 3,000 competitors.

72 year old Kenwynne Barber was the oldest of over 70 finishers at the two day ultra marathon double header that is the Extreme Energy Pony Express; the veteran showing great stamina to finish the 60 mile distance in 18 hours 46 mins. The May Bank Holiday weekend event in the New Forest packages two 30-mile ultras, run back-to-back. Completing even one day of the multi-terrain course is an achievement; completing both days is enough to earn you two qualifying points for the mighty Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc.

Speed Of Light On Screen

In March this year, NVA's Speed of Light arrived at the The Quays when hundreds of runners in LED light suits animated the bridges, streets and public spaces of Greater Manchester's waterfront. After the success of the show - almost 8,000 spectators witnessed the nightly performances - the organisers have launched a short film with highlights of the event in Salford.

There are still five months to go before the east of England's premier running event but already indications are that entries will reach 6,000 for the 2013 renewal of the Perkins Great Eastern Run. Interest has been encouraged by the use of an entry form cut-out runner which is being displayed by sponsors and other supporters at locations across Peterborough.

Half Way Home For 10 in 10

All 15 of the runners competing in this year's Brathay 10 in 10 have successfully reached the half-way point in the challenge. As it stands, Rik Vercoe leads the field, having completed five marathons in an average of 3:28:45, with Phil Eccleston following closely behind (3:30:20).

English Half Marathon Reaches New Heights

Organisers of the Spire Healthcare English half marathon have revealed an exciting development to this year's race with news that the RAF parachute display team will be making a spectacular entrance at the start line. The event, due to take place on Sunday 8 September, has witnessed a sizable upturn in entries this year with around 2,500 runners expected to take part.

Commonwealth Games Prices Revealed

Organisers of the 2014 Commonwealth Games have promised affordable tickets with two thirds going on sale at £25 or less. The first phase of ticket sales will be open from 19 August to 16 September and a ticketing guide, which includes an application form, will be available on 23 July.
