How I Use ChatGPT to Plan My Goals

Planning goals can feel overwhelming, especially when you're juggling multiple passions and responsibilities. As a small business owner, jewellery designer, blogger and full-time bench jeweller, I’ve learned that staying organised and motivated is key—but not always easy. It's something I have personally struggled with a lot in the past. All the ideas and endless things on my to-do list, but not getting many, if any done because its all just a big, heavy burden in my head. That’s where ChatGPT comes in.

I started using ChatGPT to help me break down my big goals, brainstorm creative ideas, and stay consistent with my content, not to mention a little prep talk and a little reassuring word. It’s like having a personal assistant, creative collaborator, and accountability partner all in one. In this post, I’ll share exactly how I use ChatGPT to plan my goals, overcome self-doubt, and grow my jewellery business—plus some real examples from our conversations that might inspire you to try it too.

1. Brainstorming and Idea Generation

When you're running a creative business, ideas are everything—but sometimes inspiration runs dry (Especially for me when I a m unable to travel for inspiration!).

This is where ChatGPT steps in. I use it to bounce around ideas for new jewellery collections, blog posts, and even social media captions and ideas.

For example, when I was brainstorming my new collection that I am currently working on, I wasn’t sure how to tie the idea into my brand story. I asked ChatGPT:
"How can I tie the inspiration for this collection into my brand?"
It gave me suggestions on how to incorporate my values and meaningful stories into my designs, helping me create a collection with depth and purpose.

The best part? It saves so much time. Instead of staring at a blank page, I get a starting point I can build on and personalise.

2. Breaking Down Big Goals

Big dreams can feel intimidating. For me, one of those dreams is creating and launching this new collection which involves a cause close to my heart. The idea was exciting, but the process felt daunting. (Especially when I have blocked myself for years now and avoided any new collections!)

So, I asked:
"Can you help me break down my goal of creating an my new collection?"

ChatGPT helped me map out a step-by-step plan:

Sketch initial designs
Source sustainable materials
Refine jewellery-making techniques
Set financial targets for production
Plan the marketing and launch strategy

This breakdown made a huge goal feel achievable. I have a starting point and I can then break each of these sections down into smaller, achievable tasks. Every time I tick off a step, I feel closer to making it a reality.

3. Content Planning and Marketing Support

Social media consistency is crucial when running a business, but coming up with fresh content ideas isn’t always easy. I use ChatGPT to plan content across Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest. It helps me come up with engaging post ideas and captions tailored to my brand’s vibe and my initial ideas.

For example, I asked:

"What are some easy reel ideas for Instagram that don’t take much time?"

I got practical suggestions like:

Behind-the-scenes clips of my jewellery-making process
Styling tips using my pieces
Quick product showcases with trending audio

These ideas save me time and keep my content strategy stress-free. ChatGPT also helps me write captions that resonate with my bohemian, wanderlust-loving audience. One of my favourites came from this question:

"How can I make my jewellery brand stand out to a bohemian audience?"

This process keeps my brand messaging consistent while giving me more time to focus on design.

4. Staying Motivated and Overcoming Doubts

Running a small business isn’t always smooth sailing. There are days when self-doubt creeps in, especially when learning new skills. For me, that doubt hit when I questioned my jewellery-making abilities. I wasn’t sure if I could create the pieces I envisioned.

So, I asked:

"I’m doubting my jewellery-making skills—how can I stay motivated?"

ChatGPT offered reminders of my progress, encouraged me to celebrate small wins, and suggested breaking tasks into manageable chunks. It felt like having a personal mentor who also gave practical advice.

This support has been invaluable. Whenever I feel stuck, I turn to ChatGPT for a motivational push or a fresh perspective.

5. Staying Focused and Organised

With limited time, staying organised is key. I asked ChatGPT:

"How do I stay focused on my goals when I have limited time?"

It recommended creating realistic schedules, prioritising tasks, and celebrating small achievements. It also reminded me that progress—even if slow—is still progress. These tips have helped me stay on track without burning out.

Lust Worthy Autumn Jackets

Now if you know me, you know that I am 1000% a summer lover and always after warm, sunny weather.

Put this aside, I do reside in the UK so cold weather is inevitable!

Now that my birthday has just passed, this is where I do actually start getting a little excited for the cozier months. Of course I would rather be in a bikini on a warm sandy beach drinking mezcal, but such is life.

I am on the lookout for a nice oversized leather biker jacket, and I'd say that you'd be right in thinking (like I did myself) this would be an easy find!.... I am still currently looking!

It might be due to the fact that I have certain things in mind when it comes to (well, most things actually) but I get this a lot with clothing and though I can find similar items, they are just not quite what I'm looking for.

Anyway, along this quest I have seen some other great jackets that I am now also lusting over, so I thought I'd pop an edit together.

So here we go....

I came by this & Other Stories jacket while window shopping recently and loved the details in the pockets and buckles. I also love how loose and relaxed it looks. If this came in an earthy green shade I'd be all over it!

The barn jacket - These types of jackets wouldn't usually be my particular style, and I don't know if it's the turning of a new age or the fact that they actually seems rather timeless and weather practical (something I am never good with) But these Free People Cori Waxed jackets not only look great, but would be easy to style and layer up in many different ways.

For my sunshine craving 🌞 This sunny leather jacket from Wolf And Badger would keep you warm through the cooler days as well as others that get to look and admire you and your cool jacket!

I am actually slightly obsessed with the style of this brown vintage leather jacket I found on St Cyr vintage I think the unique shape and details to it, including the USA map lining inside is so cool. These are the kind of fashion items I love and buy, and prefer over any designer items. I love finding unique things that are different to what others may have in their wardrobes.

This Understated Leather jacket is my favourite jacket that I have been dreaming of owning for years already. It's the one I never forget about and still imagine myself wearing it. It's me to a T! It just comes at a steep price so that's why sadly for me, it's staying in my dreams! I love all the patch details and the mix of brown and black suede. This is a great showstopper that you can make the most minimal outfit stand out with. It would also look great with long dresses! Oh... one day 💭 💖

What better time to make a reappearance than September? Not only my birthday month, but also the time of the year, I know a lot of people feel ready to set new goals, be inspired and like it's a fresh beginning actually more than they do in january at the start of a new year.

It is also a new moon in Virgo, meaning a time for reformulating

Some notes and energies I am bringing awareness to and bringing in that you could too, are:

(These all tie in together)

1. Reflecting - On previous goals made at the start of 2024. How far you've come and even if you do still have outstanding goals, be grateful and proud of all you have achieved.

2. Letting go of old habits - Letting go of any limiting beliefs, negative thoughts and any other damaging and self sabotaging actions and thoughts that limit your potential.

3. Knowing your worth - Once acknowledging and reflecting on these things that are keeping you small, remind yourself of who you truly are, know your power and let go of anything that is holding you back.

4. Reclaim your energy and desires - Go back to your inner self and truely listen to your intuition. Replace these old habits and thoughts with positive, higher frequency, healthy and empowering rituals and mindset. Look inwards for all the love, reassurance, validation you seek, not outwards.

5. Working through the resistance - There will always be conflicts and challenges brought to test you, push through these turbulent times and stay true to what your soul is telling you.

6. Be Open and ready for renewal - Get ready!

Autumn Ins & Outs

As we start to see the change of season (ever so slightly through the indian Summer here in the UK) I decided to really get into the fall season I would write my list of "ins and outs" for Fall/Winter 2023.

So here it goes, starting with the Ins:

Meditation - At least 5-10 Minutes of Meditation in the morning
Back to a good gym routine - at least 3X per week with long walks in between
Making a cozy home - bed throws, candle lights, warmer light bulbs, fairy lights, cozy socks
Autumn walks - and for me I mean outside of Hackney too, Venture to other greens in London
Wholesomeness
Fall markets - To ponder around, but also would love to try my first ever market as a seller and showcase my jewellery brand
Style - Get my style back and wear what makes me feel good!
Hibernation - I've had my social summer, now it's time to be a bit more of a hermit
Going out for food with friends over drinks! - Well a healthy mix of both but with me and my friends it's always straight to the pub and staying in the pub till close. Recently me and a group of friends went out for food together instead and it's definitely more wholesome and more of what I need for me right now

Hot Chocolates and Chai Lattes!
Being patient with my growth

Outs:

Not giving myself enough time in the mornings
Staying out in the pub too late, especially on school nights!
Hectic brain - Thinking too much and doing nothing at all
Clutter!
Being broke - (Not sure how to fix this but I am constantly trying!)
No forcing - Let things go and let things come to us
Hangovers - Let's see how that goes but I'm past the age of hangovers being ok!
Self sabotage and negative talk - Focus on what you are, not what you aren't
People pleasing and not being able to say no
Comparing yourself - For me I mean especially with other jewellers/small business owners
Putting too much pressure on ourselves

How I'm Trying To Overcome My Blocks

Here we are again... I'm back in unwanted familiar grounds.

I've came to a headlock and I'm blocking myself with my business once again.

A little back story incase you don't know -

It's been 3 years since I last launched a collection for my jewellery Nostalgic Feather

I even went back to study at a jewellery school here in London to boost my confidence.

At the end of my course I was raring to go and couldn't wait to get back at the bench and practise my improved skills furthermore and see what that could bring to my designs going forward.

Although I allowed myself some time off, after 10 months of none stop 6 day weeks! It was needed.

I can FEEL the too familiar self doubt and negative voice in me again that is stopping me from doing anything.

Making jewellery is my passion and when ever I sit and actually do it, I light up.

There's only two places I get this feeling, at the bench and at the gym when I'm working out.

However, even though I know this, I am still blocking myself from actually sitting at that bench and creating.

Why?

It's basically fear of what I make not being good enough.

When I think of beautiful jewellery in my mind, I get excited, inspired and enthusiastic about creating. But then I remember the times I struggle at the bench and make mistake after mistake and feel useless (which is actually pretty common with jewellers, there are always those days!)

It's also comparing myself to others. As we know the jewellery industry is saturated and even though I've had my business since 2014, I have been pretty stagnant with it while others have blossomed.

I know it's me, myself that is keeping me on this low vibe!

So, I'm writing this to not only hold myself accountable but also in the hope it helps anyone else out there who's on the same page as me, push through! Lets push through together!

Here are 5 tips/steps I'm taking to try and overcome my blocks:

1. Face my fears

Easier said than done. But the simple fact is you gotta just push through, and push through that negative self doubt. The confidence and self doubt for me is something I'm working on, have been for years, may have to always be, but hopefully it's a slow but worthwhile battle!

The way I'm trying to flip this in my mind is to think - it's better to try, than do nothing at all. Plus the only way my jewellery designs are going to improve is through practise. The more I make the better they get.

2. Work On My Diptheory

I've been really wanting to finetune my business and learn how to, not only build a community through my brand but to be able to storytell successfully in a way that people really feel connected to my brand and the pieces I design. After all my brand was built from the feeling of nostalgia and life connections and the memories we hold dear that will stay with us as a blessing throughout our lives.

I was recently watching a talk with Lisa Nichols about the art of storytelling. She goes into something she calls the "dip theory" which in short has you thinking about and being able to express not only your highlights but your lowest of the low moments, the struggles and then to where you are now, or where you want to be, the light at the end of the tunnel if you will.

Suddenly realising that my dips are not fails but a part of my story makes me realise how I DO stand out from other jewellery designers, because no one has the EXACT same story and that is what makes us stand out from the herd.

I find taking this view and realising that I can use these dips as part of my brand story helps me break away from the blocks!

3. Obligation

Not so fun fact about me - I'm turning 37 real soon, I still flat share in London and I'm constantly broke, living in my overdraft always.

One real good way I'm thinking might work to get over any block is the thought of keeping myself here!

Don't get me wrong, I am aware how privileged I am and I always try and look at the positives in life. I am grateful for what I already have and the fact I am healthy and have loving friends and family tops it all really. I appreciate the small things, I really do.

But at the same time I do have ambitions and I would love to be able to have my own studio/cute boho vibes boutique with a workspace in too one day, rather than the wobbly metal desk I have in my room with very, very limited space which is very uninspiring.

So I'm making it my OBLIGATION to push down my negative thoughts about my business and make it my obligation to create, to work hard, to try my very best.

4. Take It Slow And Enjoy Where I am Now

I've come to realise that one of the biggest things holding me back too often is I get overwhelmed and want to skip past the whole journey in between and just be at the end product! Which is insane actually, as I described in Tip 2 ,the inbetween parts are just as important. So rather than anxiously thinking about getting to the "end", where ever that even is! (Which then makes me do nothing at all!)

I am going to slow down and enjoy the journey.

One thing that really hit me when I was tested with projects at the jewellery school is actually what a process making jewellery by hand is, it is not something to be rushed and all the little parts and details take time and patience. So not only do I need to appreciate this in making jewellery but also every other aspect.

5. Go Back To Having Fun

When I started making jewellery I just did it because it was fun and I enjoyed it. I wasn't thinking too hard about the designs I was creating, I just went through intuition and what spoke with me. It was so carefree and I feel that's when I was at my best.

I really started over thinking everything and the jewellery I thought people wanted (and probably wasn't anyway)

I kind of lost myself and my style over the years.

I think the only way I'm going to get this back and to overcome that block is to get out of my head and remember I do this because I enjoy it and creating these magical pieces of jewellery is a blessing and that actually is the best confidence booster.

So I'm going to try my best to get out of my head, put no pressure on myself and creating some pieces of jewellery maybe just for myself and see what comes from that.

If I never do make this business of mine into something at least I know I tried and never gave up. I'm no longer counting the times i've failed, but the times I've got back up...

Life Update... 🌿 1 Year Later

Here we are again.

One year on after my last post but I promise there was a valid excuse.

Some of you will know I've ran my own jewellery business for 9 years now. While it's not been anywhere near as successful as that might initially sound (quite the opposite) rather than give up I look for ways I can improve and grow.

I can't give up on my jewellery brand as I finally found what I am passionate about and love to do, so if it's not going anywhere, I don't think to give up but to think how I can do better.

Last year January 2022 I left a job I was in that was very toxic and draining.

I spent 6 months unemployed and focused my time trying to pick up and concentrate on my business. It felt amazing to spend my time purely on my own thing trying to work on my business again.

But I needed to do more. I've always been a self taught designer, and well, even everything business related I have taught myself along the way!

What I really wanted was to improve my making skills more than anything. I love working at the bench working with metals and tools and even though I taught myself a few easy basics, I wanted to be better.

So in August I started a new job, I now work in repairs for a lovely fellow jewellery brand and I am super grateful for this job as I have already learnt so much through them. I'm surrounded by such amazing people and fellow jewellery designers who are keen to help each other out. It's a lovely community. A far cry from my previous job!

I then enrolled and started at the BAJ in September.

This was the start of my 6 day week grind, keeping my head down and learning as much as I could.

This course was more like quick snippets of many different areas within jewellery making and design. From CAD to wax carving, orthographic drawing, stone setting, engraving and quite a lot more.

A great opportunity to find specific skills and techniques I enjoyed more than others and managed better than others!

There is so much more practising I need and with jewellery I think you can never stop learning. It has opened my eyes even more to what an incredible skill it is and honestly I think jewellery designers/makers are undervalued because this stuff aint easy!

So now, I am taking a little time off to relax and catch up on rest because quite frankly the 6 day weeks the past 10 months nearly killed me! 😅

But then I will be at the bench and planning a new collection so don't forget to follow my business - Nostalgic Feather

How I Organise My Weeks As A Self Employed Business Owner

There is something so encouraging about setting out and organising my weekly goals and jobs to prioritise.

I have to be honest, I do struggle with keeping myself focused and motivated in the same way as I would if I was actually going into a 9-5. I also have so much to think about in so many different areas of my business that when I think about jobs I need to do, it becomes overwhelming. Too many hats!

That's why having a structure in place is key.

I think we all enjoy ticking off a to-do list? But it is also worth considering planning your days in a way that will keep you the most focused and creative.

The best way I find that works for me is to split my days up into categories.

These categories are:

Creative

Admin

Planning

Self Development

This is what currently works for me.

I like to start my week off on a Monday with a creative day. I love to love Mondays and I find if I set up my day for a creative one it massively helps me enjoy them.

This is a day for things like making jewellery, batch creating images or videos etc for socials, the fun stuff. I have two days a week for creative jobs.

Once I get to Tuesday & Wednesday I feel a bit more prepared for jobs that don't naturally inspire me/I would try to put off.

So Tuesday is an admin day. This looks a bit like a day of emails and spreadsheets.

I try to keep organised and have spreadsheets for things like sales performances and also if I buy new supplies in I break down costs etc. So this is all updated here.

This would also be a day for checking stock and ordering new supplies if need be.

Wednesday is a planning day for me.

I find it useful to set aside a day to brainstorm and plan. With so much going on in online business I feel I get so overwhelmed and sometimes feel left behind on knowing what even I should be doing or posting on social etc.

This is my time to dive deep into research and jot everything down with brainstorming activities.

This is then a great time to plan out content ideas and things like that.

Then I give myself a day of "Self Development" This is where I will work on myself and trying to grow. This can be anything from reading my business book - The Desired Brand Effect and listening to business podcasts or watching youtube videos. Any online courses or webinars will be on this days to do list too.

Of course things change and some days I will have something to do that doesn't fit into the category so obviously there is always tweaking and changing but this is the general structure I go for.

Having a planner with time slots is also a great thing! Some of my favourite planners and journals are from Papier.

My days are broken up also into rough time frames. I love having a morning routine first thing which will involve meditation, stretching and having my morning drinks, I also love to workout 4-5 times a week. It's good to have time slots so you have fixed time to concentrate on each thing, then when you have your deep work time you can focus. I think they say it takes about 15 minutes for us to get in the 'zone' properly. This is why I need this sort of structure rather than jumping from task to task.

If you knew me in my younger years, you'll know how much I struggled with my skin. From the ages of about 11 - probably late 20's I struggled with acne, breakouts and oily skin. I tried everything. Yes, it's rather important and I hope you are all good at getting in the recommended amount. Personally I have been a big water drinker from a young age and now I'm completely dependant on it, like I can't go long without needing a drink! Maybe this saved me alone... ?

5 Positive Summer Rituals To Get You Back On Track 2022

With Summer Solstice coming up in a couple of weeks I thought it would be a nice time to post some positive summer ritual ideas. As this is a time to reflect on personal growth and a time to honour gratitude and respect for all that is given to us.

This is the time of year that there is the most light available to us, the meaning of the season is of light and growth and many traditions throughout time celebrate and continue to celebrate solstices.

So let's get on with the suggestions:

1. Keep Doing That Graditiute list

I find some people have the consistent journaling down to a tee and some (including myself) struggle to keep the momentum once we are a few months into the new year. This is a great time to reflect back on your journaling and goals you set for yourself and give gratitude for how far you have come and where you are now (even if you feel like you haven't made much progress, you have!) Write down what you are grateful for and acknowledge all the good you have now in your life.

2. Drink Herbal Teas

Celebrate healing herbs and plants, it is long believed that they are at their most potent in midsummer. Some sacred plants to try are: Vervain, St John's Wort, Mugwort, Yarrow & Fern. And as always a top favourite of mine is a fresh mint or peppermint after tea (dinner). Incase your thinking I'm crazy and the last thing you want on a hot summer's day is a hot tea then don't forget you can also have these as iced tea with some honey in there too.

3. Get Out In Nature As Much As Possible

If you're anything like me, you won't need telling to get outside, especially when the sun is shining! But just incase, make sure you make getting outside and stepping into nature a priority each day. I feel blessed to live near so much greenery in Hackney with the marshes and so many parks around and the canal too. It's one thing that has kept me here for so many years. Whatever outdoor space you have around you, take advantage. And if you can, take day trips out into a different area.

4. Burn A Fire

Obviously I mean safely and if it is possible/allowed! You can burn a bonfire with friends and celebrate or with just a small candle fire.

5. Make A Prayer Stick Or A Pot For Wishes & Intentions

Might sound a bit too woo woo for some but one thing I will always say is that, even if you don't believe in manifestation and or anything spiritual really, writing down your dreams, wishes, intentions etc is never going to be a bad thing. If anything it gets them out of your head and onto paper. That's the first step for you to be conscious about your ideas and can start to make steps into achieving them. This is also a great time to take prayers away from yourself and give to others that need it in the world.

Let's Chat - Updates

Ok let's set aside any insecurities about how and what to write here and let's just write it out with no judgement - thoughts in my mind

So, I'm going to fill you in on a little casual update on things, what's been happening this year and where I am at now. So sit back and enjoy the tea!

At the start of this year, I decided I would make use of this blog again (one I've had since around 2012ish) but abandoned, came back to here and there and then abandoned again.

I won't go into too much detail, but the start of this year I also handed in my notice at my job where I was working. The truth is the job itself was fine and there was a lot I enjoyed about it, but it was also very toxic and very unreasonable things were expected. I found it extremely draining to have to deal with and it was beginning to have a negative effect on my metal health.

I'm a very chilled out, carefree kinda gal and I just got to a point where I had to take myself out of that situation. I will speak my mind and be patient but only for so long and then I'm going to take myself out of that toxic situation.

This, as much of a financial disaster it is to leave a job with no other job lined up (especially living somewhere as pricey as London) freed up all my time and energy, and for the first time ever I just allowed myself this time to focus on my own things, and my passion, which for those who don't know is my own jewellery brand Nostalgic Feather

I buried my head in trying to learn. Learn from books to podcasts to online bootcamps and webinars in all areas of business and also making jewellery too.

I got myself into a nice groove where I was posting quite consistently on here for a short while. But then I decided to move the blog so that it was part of my website rather than separate. Although I love having a "journal" page on my own site now I was struggling on how to navigate this all and also the feeling that I still wanted to be able to share posts like this.

So I have now decided to keep this blog on the side as an informal platform for me to share openly and more relaxed about all sorts! and then my journal page on my website with be professional and keeping to related content.

Another update, going back to me putting 100% into my jewellery business, one thing I've been wanting/needing to do for a long time is to up my skills in metalsmithing and also lots of other making techniques I will be throwing myself into. I am officially going back to school and will be studying at BAJ.

Although I've learnt a lot myself and I am proud of myself for what I have achieved myself, I feel my confidence isn't quite there and is something that has been in the way of my success. I've had a big shift this year and doing this course feels right for me and also the right time.

So I am excited for this chapter and hopefully you will follow along and we can lift each other. Just a reminder to never give up on your dreams! There is no one way to success. Many people in my situation would have given up on the business after 8 years of no growth but for me it is only about finding ways to improve and I will never let go of NF

Knowing What You're Paying For: What Is The Difference Between Gold Plated & Gold Filled?

Recently I asked my Instagram followers if they knew the difference between gold plated and gold filled and most responded "no" they did not.

So I thought I'd put together this little blogpost to hopefully clear up any confusion with the different types of metals, as I think it's important for you to know what you are buying. I will also brush on solid gold and Vermeil too.

So let's start with solid gold

As I'm sure you all know, pure gold is the highest priced and purity you can buy. Pure 100% gold is known as 24K. However, solid gold is actually soft and so is often mixed (alloyed) with other metals to make it more durable for better wear.

Buying pure gold is an investment but also great if you're looking for heirlooms. It is the most valuable and will last many many years. It can also be melted down and recycled over and over.

Gold Filled

Gold filled means the piece has been made by bonding a layer of gold to a base metal. Not to be confused with pure gold as the base is not pure, however gold filled contains about 100 times more gold than gold plated jewellery. Gold filled items are legally required to contain at least 5% of solid gold by weight and is made by a high amount of intense heat and pressure bonded to the core metal.

Gold filled is a great option as it is durable and less expensive than pure gold. It will last a lot longer than gold plated items. People with skin allergies should be able to wear gold filled without any risk.

Gold Plated & Vermeil

Unlike gold filled, gold plated consists of a very thin layer of gold which is often electroplated to a base metal like copper, brass or sterling silver.

If the gold is plated over sterling silver then this is known as Vermeil. If something is labelled vermeil then it is legally required to be a sterling silver base.

Things to note:

Even though the gold used in gold plating is real gold it is only about 0.5 microns so it is a very thin layer.

Plated jewellery is the lowest quality and lowest cost of the three metal types.

Quick Round up

All jewellery should be well kept and looked after for maximum lifespan and satisfaction, but gold will last the time but will also cost you a small fortune. Gold filled will last for many years with good care and is an inexpensive option to pure gold.

Gold plated jewellery will last you up to a year if well looked after and should cost you a lot less than any of the others.

How To Store Your Jewellery

Ideally you'll want to keep your beautiful treasure's kept organised and neatly.

Not only will this look nicer and help you organise your jewellery but it will keep your pieces in better condition.

Do you find yourself losing jewellery around your house? Or searching through intertwined piles of jewellery while looking for your desired pieces?

Here are some simple and cost effective ways to store your jewellery.

1. Store your everyday pieces in bowls and trinkets:

This is one of my favourite ways of storing my jewellery. Soap dishes are great and any little trinkets and even small sauce bowls you might find in your kitchen. The trick is to keep it minimal, you want to be able to see and pick up your jewellery easily.

2. Crystals

I know you'll have crystals galore lying around the house and this is another lovely way to display your jewellery. I also display some pieces in large shells too. The best crystals are ones with nice points like this one. Just bear in mind this one can be a little fiddly.

3. Using Ornaments Around The House

Try experimenting with hanging some of your necklaces or bracelets off things you already have. Anything from mirrors, picture frames, glass jars or small vases. Any hooks or nails in the wall too.

4. Trays & Neck Stands

If you're happy to spend a little on displays then I'd recommend getting some nice trays and neck stands. These are better also for your finer more expensive pieces.

2022 🌿 A Fresh Hope Without Too Much Pressure

Hi My Feathers,

I hope you had a well earned, peaceful break over the holidays.

Please try to ignore that I am posting a new years post in the second week of the new year!

I went home (Carlisle, Cumbria) as I do every year, but this year I stayed a bit longer and saw in the new year up there. It was well needed.

Since I returned I have been working. Sadly not on jewellery, but in my job that pays my rent. I will be honest and tell you, even after 8 years of living in London it is still a constant battle for me to keep afloat.

I work elsewhere to try and survive in paying the outgoings but that takes away my time and energy from my business and all the work that I need to put into it. Everything from designing, making jewellery, to creating content for socials, to posting on socials, to writing blog posts and newsletters, to name a few.

I'm officially leaving my current job, without another job to head into and as scary as that is, I know it's the right thing to do. I won't go into details, but trust me.

So I am taking a big leap here and hoping the universe catches me good!

I start every year with hopes and ambitions of working so hard on my jewellery and I tend to end the year feeling deflated and like I haven't grown at all... in any area of my life.

However, I'm feeling more motivated and hopeful this January than I have in a long time. Some of my goals are to:

Be more consistent
Grow my socials
Write more blogposts
Learn more jewellery making skills - Wax carving for one
Start Vlogging? 🤔
improve my product photography skills

And of course, there's way more. This being said, I do want to note, as great as I think it is to set some goals and ambitions to have things in mind to aim towards, I DO NOT believe in putting way too much pressure on ourselves. Have dreams and goals, but do not be hard on yourselves, also, if certain things are not met, that is also OK.

If we meet goals, what happens next? Do we barely appreciate it and instantly set another, bigger goal? Most likely.

Let's not forget to acknowledge all the privileges we have already, be thankful and be kind ♥️

Unlike clothes, jewellery (and why I love it so much) is more personable and has the ability to transform any outfit. We don't take jewellery on and off like we do with clothes and depending on what the desired look is, jewellery can lend an element of edge or grace to your style.

Jewellery is the spirit of any outfit

I purposely don't make season specific trends in my collections, more, each collection to compliment the other as a way to make layering easier and because I believe jewellery is for life so I want the pieces to be a part of your look for many years to come. Trends come and go and come back around again. If you keep you're pieces long enough the "trend" will be "in" again.

Pearls

Pearls have had a modern upgrade over the years and they are not going anywhere yet. Think anything form earrings to necklaces, bracelets and anklets. And the good news is you are encouraged to really pile them on.

Drop necklaces have not had their moment in the spotlight for a minute but low and behold this year is the year for these to shine. Reinvented with a modern twist.

Charms

Charms are back, and not just on bracelets but necklaces too. I love this nostalgic jewellery trend. My Mother, and I know so many others have collected/been gifted many beautiful charms and hold a special bracelet filled with them all. How sentimental is that?

Beads and Fringes

Beads & fringes are not only only for the summer, rest assured these are a great choice to complete your party look. Don't be afraid of colour either.
