Homemade Sushi

Homemade Sushi
Ever wonder why sushi costs so gosh darn much? Yea, we do...

Enough was enough, harr harr harr. We went to this awesome Korean
Place and chuffed it up with a beast of nature. No hesistation in his step.
This dudeha flung down a bag of sticky rice, a bamboo roller, & some
seaweed junk. And then tried to tell us how to cook the rice. He also
mentioned vinegar & sugar after the rice was finished cooking...

Man sushi-mon! Yea - we couldn't find any vinegar

around the house, so we avoided the last step. Those

pictures are actually the rolls 3 days late. Mind you

the rice got hard as a brick by that point in time!

Ahhhh! ! ! Anyway, it was super easy and fun eatins'!

I'm really excited about makin homemade sushi

and look forward to the next dazzlin recipe!

Melllons! Bacawww!

Ohhhh melllons!!!!! Man after the sushi - we attacked

some delicious mellon for dessert! What up!!!

What's up guys, it has been a while. And the last post was extremely sad. Nevertheless, we have been chillin - a ton of snow - literally it snows once a week now. And when it snows its like 6 inches or more...so it has been accumulating in our backyard/sidewalks...

Updates: As you can see from the picture, Jess just got a new haircut! Yay! She is stylin, ready to graduate from her school in April and show some peeps whats up?! Last weekend Chelsea and Cole, our friends from Tally, visited the city for pleasure/business and we gots ta see em - that was super gnarly - we went and saw the broadway - Mary Poppins - a ton of fun - we also ate some dessert on a rooftop overlooking the city! so cool - and it had been way too long since we've seen them last, seriously! - And we got two more visitors this weekend - shout out to Erin and Kim (& Kim's boyfriend)! We love visitors - come on up folks! What else, what else...my office is combining with one of our other offices and movin to the city at the end of February, which is exciting yet daunting - exciting because it will be a new atmosphere and well, its the city! But daunting because I will have to wake up so much earlier for all the insane transportation! And Jess will have to fling home for lunch for Quigglet! Ahhh!

Hmm, welp peoples of the world - leave some comments - comments get us excited and help the world go round - and also get us to post more posts! Hahaha, seriously!

Patrick Carpenter

2010-10-13T12:49:00.003-04:00

Today, we sincerely remember Patrick Carpenter and his life long journey.

Over the past couple of weeks, Patrick has been in a coma. He was found on the streets of St. Louis unconscious. His brain was depleted of oxygen. Patrick suffered massive brain damage, which resulted in going into comatose and frequent siezsures.

Patrick survived a life full of heart ache and tough times. We remember Patrick for his strength and his fearless attitude. We remember Patrick for sitting on the back patio listening to his radio, hanging out with the dogs. We remember Patrick for his epic watchings of the full series of Lord of the Rings, nonstop. We remember Patrick for his sugar intake - pouring gallons of sugar into unknown gatorade jugs for his "fruit punch." We remember Patrick for sleeping inside a tent inside of our abandoned shed. We remember Patrick for his random times of split personality featuring "Patty" with a black hair wig. For the short time we spent with Patrick, we have great memories & we remember him. He did not die alone: we are his family.

Mount Fuji Serissa Bonsai

2010-05-05T19:34:00.010-04:00

Finally took grasp of a sick little sucker: "Mr. Toodles." Yes, that is correct, Mr. Toodles is a Mount Fuji Serissa Bonsai Tree that will very soon sprout some super nasty gnarlsbarkley white smitten feathered flowers. They are extremely tiny and dainty. We are very excited. I will post pictures of the mammoth once it displays its dusty wings.

This will be the beast's future home. We must first learn the art of re-potting a bonsai from Master Yoshi. There is no need to be timid, yet aggressively combat this task with genuine care & knowledge.

Now, below are pictures of a completely different Mount Fuji that shows the sick flowers it will produce. These things bring so much joy and life - literally - oxygen.

We need to learn how to keep the leaves smaller. If anyone is a Master Yogi or Yoshi at bonsais then please leave some major feedback - we definitely need the comments of wisdom - the nuggets of growth. I can't wait to learn how to re-pot, styling, air-layering, etc. There are definitely some good youtube videos floaitng around...

Quiggly "Her First Steps"

2010-01-09T15:01:00.002-05:00

The muscles are burning and our minds are churning.

2010-01-08T20:58:00.002-05:00

So The Dougernaut and I had pretty horrific days at work. He made a few trades that didn’t go his way – and I was publicly insulted (by an Italian). Work. Work. Work. Sometimes I feel like that’s all we do. Am I being melodramatic? Quite possibly, yes. But sometimes I feel like I’m overwhelmed with mediocrity…I reflect to myself, “I’m the first one to work in the morning…the last one locking up at night…I get little to no respect…I don’t make a difference…blah, blah, blah.”

But all of this is vain. It’s not about me.

Light shines brighter in the darkness.
I want to wrap myself in luminosity.

In order to shed some negativity and Christmas cookies, Doug and I went to the gym. We ended up getting a free personal training sesh from a super-gnar-ripped-YMCA staff. –might I add that Dougggger fell down three times throughout the course of our squat repetitions—he is such a character! And I love it. We even brought the trainer a SUBWAY sub.
I figure we will pay him in sandwiches.
A noble and just payment method in return for rock hard abs!
(Davey will scoff at our newest goal – he thinks we lack perseverance.)

Ponder this.

NO LONGER WILL I MUZZLE MY VOICE.
Nor comply with the niceties of middle class Northern American society.
I’m tired of turning blind eyes from those in need.
I want to learn. I want to teach. I want to love and be loved.
I want to radically change someone’s life – for the better. I want to scream
and kick and punch and blast light upon the social injustices
that lurk in shadows. I want to be free. Break away from the comfort zone.
I’m not concerned with success or wealth or status – or even “career”
as that seems only to be an illusion crafted by commercial lies.
This is my battle cry.

The city sleeps. And I evolve.

Snow Day #2

2009-12-20T18:16:00.002-05:00

UPDATE:

This blog is slowly dying like a rotten cantelope slothed by a man-eating zebra, but it's all good - things tend to fly with the flock - desiring only the phosphorescent indi-glow of the untangible resource, meaning this - time is near and the true loving deer will not panteth for gatorade...

Jess was abiding in the slumberous natures of the Skunk-Ape....

I wish I could have gone down here with her, I miss her terribly much. I also miss the panda bear region - the greenhouse affect calls my name - it's like - yea...what ever happened to those blissfully random cinamin gum...

SnowDay#2.

People were all over the place with giant loud snowblowers. They are so efficient. True. Goodnight all. Christmas is almost here. My Jess is almost here. PEace.

Snow is Here! Ahhhh

2009-12-05T14:13:00.001-05:00

One more quick post. I just looked out the front door - it's freaken snowing folks. No joke. Our first snowfall of the year. It's been so warm lately - thankfully, but all of a sudden - yesterday it got cold and today its snowing, insane! Weather is weird. Looks like the winter is finally upon us starting today! Ahhhhhhhh

Jess & I's First Christmas!

2009-12-05T14:02:00.003-05:00

So dudes & dudettes,

God blesses us everyday more and more - in crazy ways - whether its a random check in the mail, a free turkey, food from Jess' coworkers, love from friends & family, wisdom & knowledge - whatever it is - God is so good and we are so so extremely thankful.

Anyway, get this - like two weeks ago, some friend of Jess' at work - just randomly said - hey we have a christmas tree we cant use because we moved into a smaller place - when can we drop it by your place? And like Jess never mentioned anything about a Christmas tree or wanting one or anything - it was just like hey we have one and we are giving it to you...

So last week, Jess and I are eating dinner and someone walks in our house - and I was like umm, and Jess is like heyyyyyy Julie! And basically they randomly popped by and hooked us up with a Christmas tree - with all the ornaments, lights, decorations needed...insane!

We were so stoked - so now we have a Christmas tree up and ready for the holidays - it brought back a lot of memories with the family...we miss family & friends. Much love.

The Italian Thanksgiving

2009-12-05T13:50:00.003-05:00

Well folks,

It's been a while since we have updated out bloggster. Not much has occurred lately; nevertheless, I will update since whenever we last blogged....who knows when.

Let me start with Thanksgiving - that was quite interesting to say the least...Jess and I both had to work the day before and the day after Thanksgiving - so naturally, we couldn't leave NY to see either of our family...

We ended up getting invited to one of Jess' co-worker's house. She said it was a misfit Thanksgving with random people. So we were like - we're down - plus she is Italian so they were gonna have awesome food.

And, well, the food part was correct, but it ended up Jess and I were the only misfits - it was a family gathering plus two random young adults that were not dressed properly for the Italian Thanksgiving. Yea, i was in jeans and a hoodie and they were all dressed up looking nice - I felt dumb.

Anyway, we had a feast - we had a huge appetizer "dinner" - mozzarella slabs with bread, stuffed mushrooms, stuffed cheese balls, all sorts of cheese, all sorts of thinly sliced meats, etc. etc.

Next we had our Italian Thanksgving meal - egg plant pasta, penne noodle pasta, lasagna, bread, etc. etc.

Then, we had America's Thanksgiving meal - a huge turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potato stuff, more bread, cranberry topping, gravy, vegetables, etc. etc.

Finally, we had a buffet of desserts - homemade cheesecake, apple pie, pumpkin pie, cream puffs, cannolis, chocolate covered pretzels, cookies, etc. etc.

IT was insane - the entire event took like over 5 hrs. Note - there were only 15 people there - and they basically forced food down your throat - it was nuts.

And get this, in the midst of eating chicken - this one older chick choked on a chicken bone and haked it up with a giant heave - it was insane! I will never forget that - Jess and I wanted to die laughing but everyone just played it off - oh my gosh - it was a sight.

Anyway, we wished we could have been with our family - but it turned out ok - hopefully next Thanksgiving we can enjoy it in Virginia or Florida. Much love family.

FROhawk/FOhawk

2009-11-14T11:56:00.004-05:00

So I shaved off the wave.

It's completely gone. Zilch. Zippo. Zwanheenee. Gone.

Instead, Jess' boss cut my a frohawk, as I would call it. It's quite interesting. Nothing I have ever done before. I have bleached my head, shaved my head, grown the wave, grown shaggy hair, but never had a frohawk. It's a first.

At first I loved it, but the more I look at it - the more contemplative I am. I just dont know...We shall see by the end of the weekend; afterall, it is only the second full day. I dont think I ever got a picture of the wave back in full barrell form. I will definitely get a pic of the frohawk.

Sammy Sosa - Michael Jackson?

2009-11-12T17:36:00.005-05:00

Check this out! Sammy Sosa's skin is changing like Michael's! But here's the thing, he said he has a skin disorder and the lotion he has been using has taken away his color. Yet, he also has new contact lenses in - crazy...

THIS IS THE POSSIBLE LOTION HE USED: Straight up tells you it will dramatically whiten your skin; basically bleach; super super interesting! I am fascinated...

He looks like a totally different person. When I saw the man, I was confused when I saw it said Sammy Sosa. Crazy stuff. Absolutely crazy!

Drunk Chick Almost Nailed By Subway

2009-11-12T17:29:00.002-05:00

You gotta watch this video! It flabbergasted me to see how close the train got to her! Praise God she wasn't crushed; can't believe it!

Copacabanas

2009-11-12T07:27:00.003-05:00

Yea so last night, Jess and I finally went on a much needed date to Copacabanas in Port Chester, NY - about 20 minutes away...

We were caught off guard - first of all I was wearing my dad jeans along with a gray sweatshirt and well, Jess looked great - like usual. But nevertheless, it was a fancier place and I was way under-dressed with many looks of disgust.

Furthermore, we it was a Brazilian restaurant with this unique set-up. Basically there is a lot of history behind it - from when Brazilians came over the U.S. - it was like their Thanksgiving meal -

But umm, you eat at a salad bar - which we had two plates! And Jess was stuffed but no joke it continued - they brought out rice, fried bananas, black beans and more stuff - that you could keep asking for more. Plus, every 3 minutes some chef would roll around the corner with some dank meat on a metal rod and fling off some to you - and well, you had 10 ROUNDS of 10 Different meats and they were not small portions whatsoever - it was a fat chunk of meat.

It was the most food I have ever seen - we had no idea what we got ourselves into. It was absolutely ridonkulous. Those crazy Brazilians!

Hey folks,

It's been a while - been busy busy busy. Yatta, yatta, yatta. We will get back on track this week. Sinceriously.
