Sometimes social media can be quite the lead,

and I cannot be more happy when it's about empowering topics as this one. Girl Power!

Growing up watching Sailor Moon and later Buffy the Vampire Slayer and then Gilmore Girls, I have always been a fan of independent, brave, intelligent women who could be clumsy and cute at the same time as full of energy and sense of humor.

Those are the women that inspire me every day and I could find them in real life too. Everywhere we can see these women. It's not anymore the times where women sit at home all day, doing nothing. Women get to have power these days and make their own choices. They can follow their dreams, they can be leaders, along with a million of other things.

Girls can do anything! It's the motto printed in this t-shirt I am wearing and if you think about it how true is that?

It really makes me sad when I see women that make other women feel bad, sad or ashamed, when they make feel other women like they worth less than them, when in the end we are all the same and we deserve the same good things.

I promised to myself I wouldn't be friends anymore with women that denigrate other women (I sincerely had enough) and so I did. If somebody doesn't make you feel like you are good enough, they don't deserve to be in your life as they are the first and main problem to themselves.

I promised to myself I would be friends with the women that empower me and make me feel beautiful the way I am and don't want to destroy my confidence, but they are willing to help me boosting it. Life is too short to keep the ones that hurt us close to us.

So power to the women and cheers to the good beautiful (inside out) ones.

Lace up On Trend

I own quite a few bits already,

and I'm talking about one of the massive latest trends: LACE UP!

If you have been around shops lately or just if you have been browsing online, you know what I am talking about.

Lace up dresses, lace up crop tops, sweaters with lace ups on the side, lace up heels... yes. You got the idea. And I basically surrounded myself with lace up items... well, you will see more of this trend for sure on my blog soon.

I love when the details are cute as well on lace up tops, such as this one I am wearing in these pictures. The golden clips make it look chic!

Lace up items can make an outfit stand out and make it more original. I like to keep the accessories minimal but visible, such as a set of rings, a choker and a pair of glasses (or sunnies).

If I am wearing lace up shoes the outfit has to be layered to look as trendy as possible. For example, I would wear a denim jacket over my shoulders to make the heels stand out more.

If you have been living for a long time in London like me,

you know what it feels like and why you're still here.

There must be moments of nostalgia now and then, but what made you come here and what made you stay it's still strong in your heart nevertheless.

In the beginning, you have felt such a revolutionary idea taking place in your head, that you felt the urge to follow it. You were thinking about it for a while, about moving out and finally everything was getting real.

You needed to find your wings and spread them. You needed to feel your legs running and leave the ground.

Then, you got it. Your one way ticket to London. If I say it like that, it seems sort of a Chocolate Factory, when Charlie won the golden ticket to enter.

It's not Wonderland either, but London is full of life and I've got 5 reasons for you on why you should move here, if you have been thinking about it for a while.

1. You have endless opportunities in London. Deep down, if you want to move to London, you are really looking for those: the opportunities. And what better way to find them than in a city that has everything to offer to everybody, no matter the genre, age, experience? Well, experience... you still need some kind of experience, but sometimes here in London people will be ok to teach you. You have a day off and you need to relax, well London has plenty of offers for you (and most of them come for free!). You are looking for a fun place to hang out after work? Covered. You need to find some secret gems or international restaurants? Covered. Whatever you need, you will find it here.

2. You can be independent. I wanted to feel independent, it was one of the reasons why I came here. I wanted to earn my living, do what I wanted with my money and my time and I wanted to grow up a little. I needed some kind of education in how to do that. It's good to have a Peter Pan in our heart, but we need to know what the real world is like as well, in order to survive and be ready. Be prepared then, nobody doing laundry for you and buying food and anything else you will need along the way. Cooking skills will save you from starting the take-away marathon.

3. You can become your real self. Eventually, as time goes by, and you have been living alone for a while, you will learn more about who you are and why you are doing the things you are doing. In the end, it all comes down to that. We need to know ourselves, know we can also change, our values, accept and love ourselves as the first person that matters to us. Then we can appreciate more the people we have in our life.

4. You are a citizen of the world. Okay, London is not the whole planet, but we have really everyone from every part of the world here. And growing up in a really small town, I wasn't used to that. It opened my mind, but also made me feel like now I finally like people from my own country.

5. You can actually build up your future. For a creative person like me, it has always been very difficult, if not impossible, to understand what I wanted to do in my life. It became clearer recently (well, in these past years) that I love everything creative and especially anything to do with photography and blogging. I am very passionate about it and I want to make it my job in the future. I want to improve myself to a bigger level and follow my heart on what makes me feel better. Nowadays, I am doing a better job that when I have started, thanks to my blog. My photography portfolio and collaborations have improved and I am looking to continue on this path.

How was life before Instagram?

I used to have a great memory,

but for some reason, I don't have anymore. But... I remember this. How was life before Instagram.

Do you?

We used to care more about how many times we went out with our family and friends, about how many afternoons we spent laughing and going in town, sometimes just playing around and counting the seconds to dinner time.

We had MSN to keep our contacts and Myspace to store our photos. Life was more boring (we need to say it), but more relaxed. We didn't plan on any flat lay shot on our hamburger or pizza just served and we didn't want to take any posed picture showing our latest outfit, instead our group picture was the favourite one among us.

Sometimes, there were no pictures at all. We were driving in the lazy summer afternoons towards nowhere, just knowing we were happy and without any stress. We didn't need to grow our following base, we didn't have a following or know what was a following. We were just content with 30 friends we had on Myspace.

But of course, we needed something more. I love Instagram, don't get me wrong. Just those times were like that. And these times are full of opportunities, that sometimes lead us towards a better future. We become more skilled, more professional, we travel more, we fear less and sometimes behind the screen, we like to meet people.

So it's not everything lost.

Yellow Sunnies On Trend

You know you need some yellow in your life?

Well, if you didn't know it, you do. I didn't know it as well, but as soon as I bought these yellow sunnies and put them on, I was seeing everything yellow and it was really like in a yellow submarine for real.

How cool is that... when we change perspective on the world for once? You doubt everything is the same as before and things might be having a little twist from time to time. We often see the world the same away over and over again, and we get bored easily, so it's not so unimportant to change point of view when we have the chance.

I love me some yellow right now, not only because we have seen it first on the runways, but because we really need a little more sunshine in our everyday lives. Sun is what makes us smile more, go out more, having more fun, meeting more people. Here in London, we really miss the sun. In Italy, it's part of our culture.

Then, let's hail the sun and wear some yellow!

How my Blog helped me getting a Job

I've always been a rebel,

and by saying that by no means I intend to say I am an outlaw. (!)

I always wanted to be myself and myself was different that the people I used to have around me. I couldn't accept injustice, prejudices, small talks, ignorance, crowds of people that were thinking and doing the same things, unfair facts.

All of this escalated in an angry behaviour by yours truly and it was very difficult to tame the lion, once was out. (yeah lion is my zodiacal sign)

I don't mean to say I am aggressive, but I had few times where I couldn't control myself.

I am much more calmer nowadays and accept that things cannot be fair, that people who deserve better usually don't get it. But sometimes it's worth to keep on trying and believing, even if we don't see a way out. (and sometimes it's better to keep on dreaming I have to say)

So, let's talk about the real topic here.

How my blog helped me getting a job?

I have been trying for years, let's be clear. It wasn't at the first shot, or the second either. I have started my blog, not clear on what it would have become in the future and kept on writing it until I have started taking pictures outside (before I was just taking pictures inside).

Then, gradually I have started thinking I should try. I went for interviews, year after year, and I could finally get an internship. It was just expenses paid, but it was worth it. For months, I got a clue of what a different environment tasted like. Social media, photography, marketing, blog writing. That was my world and it absorbed me.

I took a summer break and when I came back, I had to look for and accept a part time job as a counter to pay my bills.

Not long after, I was able to get many interviews for better jobs. Jobs that were more in line with my blog and my preferences. So I went to those interviews and just because my CV was much fuller and my blog too, I was able to express my passions much more and tell how much more experience I had gained.

I got an apprenticeship as an E-commerce - Photographer - Social Media/Marketing and from there it became a real job.

I am grateful to myself for what I have learnt since starting my blog and what it led me to. Even if now I would like to change my job (and perhaps have less stress!), it's amazing to me how my passion helped me getting something in the real life.

Still, I am dreaming of becoming a full time blogger and I really hope it will happen one day.

Few tips:

1. You need a blog, because it's like a Portfolio for companies.

2. You need to know all about Social Media and be on it, because be sure they will check you out before replying to any of your emails.

3. You need to have a clue about how you would expand their business and what strategies you would use. Think about what would you do to expand your following first.

4. You need to know how to take good pictures and recognize the bad and the good lighting.

5. You need to sell yourself like you are an entrepreneur (you are a business yourself, after all) and don't think others are better than you. You are the one they need.

6. You need to tell your story. Companies are very interested in your background and experiences. They want to know you were able to do it before hiring you.

WTF I'm wearing?

While I was editing these pictures yesterday,

I couldn't stop looking at my outfit. While, from one side it seemed so cool and trendy (even too many trends at once!), on the other side it seemed just a tad too much.

Not gonna lie, these sunglasses gave me life in this particular look and the GRL PWR tee just seemed about right, but overall it can leave me (and you perhaps?) thinking: well, I have exaggerated.

This is my thing: I never know how to switch to basic, I usually just throw everything at once and try to make it look cool, while keeping it down, but I never go on the basic side. (always been my life)

It might be, because I always wanted to impress and it might be a little bit of egocentrism, but at the same time I'm pretty shy when I walk down the street, so why not using a more easy look?

And I have to tell you, when I have put this look on, it felt so comfy and easy! Whatever is on reality, it will change on pictures, trust me. You need to select your expressions, your poses, your look carefully when you go to shoot a look, otherwise you will end up asking yourself "WTF I am wearing?"

And there is really no proper answer to that. It's kind of fascinating that we have a reality and another perspected reality in which things are a little different. (like the example above)

We can play a little in photoshoots, but we need to know what looks best on us in reality and what makes us feel good as well. Overall, it's a combination of both, but sometimes (like in my case!) we need to step back and analyze our signature style and go a little more easy on that.

Dance like a Ballerina

It's not one of those easy topics,

but the more you get wiser and older, the more you realize you can actually talk about uncomfortable stuff.

Perhaps you don't have an idea of what I am gonna say. Perhaps you have.

Were you, at least once, the kid who was left behind? The one who was having issues keeping the same pace with others? Were you, ever, the one who felt like she/he didn't belong?

Then you probably know what I am gonna say. I was and I remember it very well. Whatever you see and learn when you are a kid, it will come with you as you grow up. There is not a nice way to put it.

I was always the smallest one. So I hated ballerina shoes! I felt like they made me feel different and at that time I wanted to be the same as other people. I wanted to belong.

Shortly after, I realized I actually didn't belong with those strangers. And that my brain was working and I couldn't stop it. I couldn't make myself look and feel like a stupid, if I wasn't.

But why would I ever wanted to be stupid?

People that think less, are happier. People that are less smart don't have much stuff to think about and don't worry all the time. This is probably why. The less you ask yourself questions, the less you are waiting for answers and the more you adjust to this world.

Now I say... dance like a ballerina and don't worry if someone is watching you. Sometimes we need to feel more connected to ourselves and then to others to feel connected somehow to this world.

Sometimes we need to lose our serious ways and become a little more childish and dance like nobody's watching. Anyway, life is short. So put those ballerinas on.

I want to be like Barbie,

I used to say. I want to dress like a princess, whilst looking cool. I want to have blonde hair and have nice dresses. I used to say.

I want to sing and dance, and teach and learn, and play and dream. I want to smile all day and be happy forever. I don't want to think too much about the bad things. I used to say.

I want to be free and be loved at the same time. I want to love and be grateful. I want to keep my family and the people important to me close. I want to travel, I want to move out, I want to be independent. I used to say.

I want to break free, I want to be interesting, I want to be different, I don't want to be that different. I want friends, I want love, I want to have fun and go out. I used to say.

I want to be respected, I want to be listened, I want to be understood. I am tired of thinking negative. I am tired of problems, issues and nightmares.

I don't dream anymore. I just think about nice things until I fall asleep and then I don't know. I wake up early, but I like it... I would like to wake up a little bit later.

I am strong, but I am fragile. I am weird, but sometimes I think am like everybody else. I am not ordinary. I am alive, but I don't wanna start living the day. I am full of energy, but I get tired easily. I am daydreaming and forgetting at night.

90's Pink

A little too much to remember?

Going back home has always that effect on me. I start thinking about the past, about my childhood, about what I liked before.

I'm a 90's child and I remember all those 90's vibes. When I put on this pink swimsuit, I knew it. It had to be pink and denim, all 90's in one photoshoot.

Matching my pink bodysuit with a pair of pink sunnies and pink trainers was obviously going to happen. I simply love this look as it reminds me of little me!

I used to wear pink bodysuits (and anything pink really) and big sunnies all the time when I was a child! So, this outfit came out quite natural.

Tropical On Trend

One of the biggest summer trend right now?

It's the Tropical trend. I have always been a fan of this one, since I have seen it taking over my Instagram feed and all over fashion magazines/runways.

Zaful has some of the best tropical swimsuits (have a look) I have seen around.

I would use this trend for home interior as well, such beautiful patterns! I love the white and black tropical and the green palm leaves patterns the most. Also yellow looks great too with this trend! I wore my pink sunnies from Zaful for this look, which in my opinion matches perfectly with the green and the denim shorts.

The future is scary

Ever wondered what's next?

The future can get scary, as we move forward in an uncertain world where we don't feel safe anymore, happy not for long, always drawn to new things.

Stay focus on the present time. If you feel overwhelmed by what's around you (or what's not), take a moment to chill out and relax. Many times people feel this way, the world is big, but at the same time not many good opportunities are around at the right time. If you feel you need to move somewhere else, start planning for it.

Don't overreact. If you start to be dramatic or give too much weight to your negative thoughts they will become huge and impossible to sustain. Thinking about everything at the same time can consume your energy and make you feel weak and depressed. Keep a list of what you need to do daily and what you can do later on in the week/month.

Keep the good people close. You won't need 50 of them, just a bunch to make you feel better about yourself. Cut the ones that make you feel bad and bring you down. You won't need 50 of them, really.

Make your private moments your happy place. Going to bed at night and dream, sit in front of a window and think, listening to nature sounds... whatever makes you in the right mood and keeps you far from the everyday problems, is welcomed. You need to create your happy place on this earth.

The 5 Statement Pieces for Summer

What are the key-pieces you need this summer?

1. A statement bag. Possibly of a statement color like red or blue. I love a small red bag which gives color to any outfit and makes any look stand out. (great for Instagrammers!)

2. A suggestive choker. You can choose bizarre ones that will make your look pop or even why not, let the chokers do the talking. The stranger, the better!

3. A cut out bodysuit. Like this one that I am wearing, a cut out swimwear or low cut bodysuit are the perfect statement to show off at the beach. (but not for the perfect tan, tough!)

4. Bizarre Jewelry. One earring is the trend at the moment (loving this one haha), massive earrings, geometric numbers, square pendants, multiple bracelets. Also, crosses are big right now!

5. Eccentric headbands. And hairpins, hair clips, flowers, bows. Let your imagination run wild on this one. Even crowns are accepted. I particularly love the tropical bandanas.

Rosé, please!

Do you need anything, miss?

Sometimes we joke at work. The office becomes animated and the Friday is near.

Fridays are for Rosé and small talks. Laughs and music. That's what we need.

Rosé is the perfect choice, not too sour, not too sweet, you don't get too drunk and you don't feel that bad afterwards.

So then we ask everyone, Rosé? Rosé, please!

When it's the time you know you need a break?

Well, you need a break if

1. You yell at inanimate things and people without a reason. Stop and breath a second. Why are you yelling? What is wrong with you whispering quietly? Well, you need a break mate.

2. Everyone suddenly seems like a horrible living creature that is on your way all the time. Stop and think for a minute. Do you think that there is a huge negative energy against you today? Well, we should contact the Great Demon King then (Nana fan here)! You need a break mate.

3. You experience different emotions all at once and they are usually negative emotions. Whatever happens to you gives you a heavy heartbeat and you stress over futile things, you over analyze situations and you feel like you are in a prison. You need a break.

I went to this beautiful place in Hampstead, just because I needed a break and it was surreal. Love the cinematic atmosphere you breath here.

How to be a Fashion Blogger if you are not

But then, what does it mean that I am not? (A fashion blogger)

Today's topic is how you can be a Fashion Blogger when you don't look like one, when you are totally not fashionable or a model or any special beauty at all.

Keep on reading.

I am not saying you are ugly or I am ugly and that we are not capable of being bloggers. We are. It's just the way we use some special tricks that makes all the difference.

1. You need to know your good sides. And I don't only mean the good poses you can strike in front of the camera, in order to look less low-key yourself as possible and more of a stunning Greek figure. (well... let's see about that) If you like your nose, if you like your hair, if you like your stomach etc... enhance them. Try to pose so people will think how gorgeous you look all the time. BUT and there's a but, don't forget that your bad sides are important too. This is one of the lessons I learned ultimately. Don't be afraid to show your readers that you are human too and that you have your flaws too.

2. Be the judge and the creative director of yourself. Nobody will know better anyway. You need to be at the top of your game, know what has to be the mood of the photoshoot, the background, the color scheme, the makeup and hairstyle, the overall look. You need to select the pictures that better represents the outfit and yourself, because not only is important to look good, but also to have an interesting captivating personality that will show even from a computer screen. (you're looking for more followers, after all)

3. Look, copy, learn, then do it better yourself. I have seen different fashion bloggers starting off copying other fashion bloggers (sometimes they even state it on their blog) and then when they learn what can distinguish them from the others, they start doing it better themselves. Adding more features, using the same poses, engaging readers with good content. I'm constantly looking at other fashion bloggers for ideas, new concepts, new contents, how to engage better with the audience, how to create better pictures. Without researching we are stuck at the starting point, so better do our researches instead.

The Roses Trend

This trend is one of my favorites.

If you don't know it, you most probably have been sleeping in a cave or such. (or maybe you are just not a Fashionista)

Lady Gaga was seeing wearing one of these. Dolce & Gabbana are famous for their roses dresses and accessories.

Everywhere in shops you can see the roses embroidery patches on mesh dresses, black tops, bodysuits, bras and more.

I have always been a fan of roses and when I entered Primark the other week, I couldn't stop myself grabbing this beautiful red roses dress and when I found out that it was so cheap, it was already in my shopping basket.

I used to have a similar dress when I was small and probably my brain recalls the nice memories I had when I was wearing it. (or something like that!)

I went with a photographer and stylist to find this beautiful immaculate spot in North London. Lots of people are taking pictures here. (no surprise, really!)

All in all is a romantic outfit with a little bit of edgy details on the side.

Off Shoulders On Trend

I bet you know what I am gonna say.

Off to the next trend topic: the Off Shoulders one. And unlike the other trends, it has got me from the beginning.

For small frames and thin bodies, this trend is amazing. I love the way bardot tops and off shoulder dresses enhances my figure. They are perfect for summer days at the beach and they make me feel feminine, while keeping the comfort going.

I have to say, I've never really payed too much attention to them and I didn't even know they were a thing before.

But there's also a secret about them.

We should all be Feminists

Remember that song?

It's a man's man's man's world, it said. We want things to be changed, so now everybody (starting from bloggers and influencers) is spotted wearing a feminist t-shirt.

Well, it's about time that things change, I like when there are different point of views and not just one. We live in a world that is too big to pretend to know everything and everyone and pretend to make the rules for everybody.

Don't you agree?

You know that tale where the pretty unlucky girl was alone in her room singing all day to herself and waiting her prince charming to save her from her sad life? (one of my favourite tales by the way)

Nowadays women are independent, they don't wait around for someone to save them (even if it might pop up now and then in their dreams), they need to make things done, they need to find a job, pay the bills, fight for equality and their rights, live their life even if prince charming doesn't exist and there is nobody good looking with a good heart around.

Tales have to be rewritten, even if I must admit I am still a fan of the tales I grew up with. (they are just so nice, like a whole new world)

We don't have to kill dreams, just realize that we have to live in a different way, but still dream the same.

Yellow on Trend

Do you like the yellow thing?

No I am not talking about lemons, even if now it's one of the latest trends. (I wonder how I wonder why

Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue blue sky

And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon-tree)

I was never a fan of yellow. Maybe when I was a little child, but I don't really remember liking this color.

Also, I was never keen on wearing it, I always felt like I really looked like a living lemon.

After some thoughts, I decided to give it a try and went on for this gorgeous yellow flower dress by Zaful,(little detail is the corset belt!) which goes so perfectly with this English rose garden on the background. (gotta love those roses!)

I have to admit I really like this shade of yellow on me!

Be the Diversity

This is not one of the easy topics.

If you ever felt strange, if you ever felt wrong and insecure, if you ever felt like you didn't belong, like you were the different one... well, Welcome to the Club.

One of the main thing that crossed my mind when I had to choose a name for my blog (years ago), was exactly how being the different one in every life context shaped my character and personality.

I picked 'Not for Ordinary People' as a motto and my blog's name. Many will think that not being ordinary means being the wild soul at every night party, being drunk all day, sleeping on the streets or being not pretty enough.

I don't mean anything of that, actually.

What always made me feel not ordinary was the way my brain thinks. And when I meet people like me, it instantly clicks. I feel like I am being understood, my brain is at ease and my heart as well.

In other situations, I feel very uncomfortable. Most people are all the same, to me. That is why, sometimes, they just suck all of my energy and I don't feel completely free talking to them. This doesn't happen when I meet not ordinary people that have a open minded brain which allows them to think differently in a funny, creative way and to say weird things that are also nice and sweet.

Well, I just thought you should know. Be the diversity in the crowd, there are already too many people like others. Be different.

Gingham on Trend

Do you like the new Gingham trend?

Honestly, I didn't like it very much in the beginning. I thought it would look weird on me and I would look like a teenager.

But, as I have discovered shooting this outfit in sunny Canada Water, I fell in love with this Gingham embroidered bardot top.

I am very keen on the bardot thing. It seems to work well with my bodyshape and it makes me feel feminine.

So, this combo perfectly matches my style now. I went on and wore my ripped denim shorts with white Adidas.

I spotted this amazing spot near the entrance of an apartment. The orange roses are just so pretty and the wind was blowing and it looked like a Southern atmosphere.

The ice on the cake of this outifit is my red handbag with an olive green leopard scarf tied on it.

Daydreaming, much?

In times like these, when terror attacks are happening so often and we are not feeling safe even walking down the street, it's the times when I find myself daydreaming a lot.

My brain switches off for a while from the usual negative reality and seems to wander into a different reality.

I am dreaming of a world where peace is everywhere, it's like the base ingredient and we are all safe and happy. I am happy and safe and I can smile like an idiot.

And there I wonder... why so many people in this world have so much hate?

We are all a bit broken inside, it is not enough to deal with on a everyday basis?

Well, in my imaginary tropical island, none of this matters. Because we are free to walk down the immense green, smile at each other, find your own place where to sleep, talk, dream and we just go on like that, with that smile on our face.

Light Me Up

You know, one of those days?

There are days when all I need is just to feel lightened up. Adult life is full of responsibilities, choices, serious stuff. And I really miss those times when all I was thinking about was singing and playing with my dolls outside.

There are times that things have a certain weight on me and I feel like I am going to explode. When this happens, I really need to sit down and whisper nice things to myself. Then, I look up at the sky and I hear the birds sing. This is like a lullaby for my brain.

Kurt Cobain was saying that birds are screaming about murders every morning and as much as I like him as an artist, I cannot agree on this.

When I hear birds singing it seems like there is another world out there. I suddenly feel like I am in a tropical forest in a beautiful quiet island. I suddenly feel like somebody switched on a light upon me and I feel very light, like I am floating.

Or maybe is it just my brain, playing with my thoughts?

White is Innocent

This is what Lorelai Gilmore said to Luke on the first episode of Gilmore Girls. (a.k.a my favourite tv show of all time)

Did you notice that many people that decide to wear white feel the urge to celebrate a new healthy life, or a new phase of their life, or they want to look angelic? (or they simply want to change their Instagram feed)

It's kind of funny that we evolved so much as human beings, but still we find these common ideas based in our nowadays life.

White is innocent, Black is guilty. I love wearing black and I will always have, but white has recently took a little more space into my wardrobe (yes, now it's really full) and it's probably because I needed a change.

And it's also funny, that evolved as we are, sometimes we really should bite our tongue, before we swear we never will do a certain thing.

It's completely fine to change our mind sometimes. We don't know everything, we can't always be right.

So is White innocent, then?
