When I was getting out the Christmas decorations this year I cam across the stocking we got Kaia for her first Christmas. I was sad to find that a dirty rotten mouse had chewed through the toe. That was when i decided to crochet the kids some new stockings this year. I also decided that since we don't have a mantle or anywhere else to hang said stockings I needed to make something to hang them on. This is what I came up with...

(Sorry about the crappy quality of my pictures! My desktop crashed and I'm not allowed to put pictures on the laptop so I have to use my blogger app to add my pics!)

I used the pattern for the girls' stockings found here and here. I kinda had to make up my own pattern for Blaze's stocking so that it wasn't so girly. I love how they turned out. Hopefully they will hold up so that they can have them forever!

Divinity

This morning my mom and my friend Anna came over for a candy making party. We made all kinds of yummy stuff, but today I want to share the divinity. It's so so good. We wanted to use my Grandma's recipe but my mom couldn't find it anywhere so we're using Aunt Bernice's recipe. I don't know who Aunt Bernice is but her divinity is just what it should be DIVINE!!

I have never made divinity before and the last time my mom made it it turned out rock hard. It's a testy little treat that can only be made on clear days which are hard to come by in December in Utah. Thank heavens the weather cooperated!

I'm going to be super nice and share the recipe with you. If you make it will you be awesome and let me know how it turned out for you?

Divinity

1 C Karo Syrup

3 C Sugar

3/4 C Water

1/2 teaspoon Salt

Cook to 248 degrees on a dry day 250 degrees on a damp day remove from heat and let stand until it stops boiling.

2 egg whites stiffly beaten

Add the sugar mixture to egg whites and beat until it looses gloss and holds its shape (about 5-7 minutes)

add 2 teaspoons Vanilla and mix in. Drop by teaspoon fulls onto wax paper. Press pecans onto the tops if desired.

I hope this made sense. I have to admit I didn't really do a whole lot with this recipe. Mom and Anna were the main contributors. I was busy being the leader and they my minions did the dirty work.

Hooded Scarf

Last month Mike and I went to Vegas for the 48 hours festival. For those of you who don't know it's a rock festival. Some of our favorite bands were there so we drove 4 hours to see them. Korn, Three Days Grace, Five Finger Death Punch and oh so many more. It was 2 days of awesomeness. Anyway while we were watching Korn a crowd surfer came from behind and landed on my head. Mike and his friend tried to catch him but I took most of the weight. It did quite a number on my neck. I went to the chiropractor who told me I need to keep the cold wind off my neck muscles so it doesn't get so sore. I didn't have a scarf so I decided to make one. I found this one while searching for a pattern. Here's how mine turned out.

French Toast Muffins

Pinterest has become my new obsession. Especially since I got rid of my facebook. I have found dozens of delicious recipes and craft ideas. Hopefully I can get this blog going again now that I have some fresh ideas!
I made these yummy muffins this morning for breakfast. I got the recipe here. They were super easy and seriously so so good.

More Crochet

Okay so I've been MIA for a while now. I have a few projects in mind so hopefully I can get back into my crafting groove.
I bought a really cute crochet headband back in June, at least I think that's when it was. I wanted to figure out how to make it so I sent it to my SIL Angela to figure out for me. She did and sent me the directions. She also made up a flower pattern that I love!!
I have made a few headbands so far. I am going to add some to the etsy shop. Hopefully these sell unlike the other stuff I had in there :).

The flowers have little clips on the back so you can change them if you want to. I love these!! They are the only kind of headband I can wear for 2 reasons.

1. I have a gigantic lump on my head right above my ear.

2. My head is shaped weird and so most wrap around headbands slip off. These stay in place!

My First Crochet Baby Hat

I have wanted to learn how to crochet since I was little. The problem is I'm left-handed and it's near impossible to find a lefty teacher. Thank goodness for youtube! I used this little tutorial here. I love how this turned out! I can't wait to give it to my friend for her little girl that's due in a couple weeks.

New Coasters

So since my living room is brown and black now instead of bright green I decided I better class up the place and make new coasters. As painful as it was to pull my cute flamingos and palm trees off the tiles I love the new ones.

Name Blocks

Remember how I said we visited the in laws a couple weeks ago and I had my father in law cut some wood stuff out for me? Yeah? Well, my mother in law had these cute blocks on a shelf and I decided I had to have some.

They sat around the house undone for about a week. Finally I painted them black. Then they sat around for a few days. I found some cute paper and cut it to size using the cricut and mod podged it on. They sat around for another day or 2 until I found some black and gray paper. I cut the letters out and glued them on. Then I just sprayed some clear coat on them and ta da!!!

The block sizes are as follows: The J is a 6x4, the G & S are 5x4 and the other letters are 4x4. I think they are all 2 inches wide.
Tomorrow I will post my cute new coasters. I had to redo these ones because I changed my living room.

What?!? I actually made something?!?

I know it's be a ridiculously long time since I've posted anything interesting whatsoever! I'm really trying to get back into the creative groove. I have been redoing my living room and that's taken a lot of my creative energy. It looks awesome though so it's been well worth the work!!
I went to visit the in-laws this last weekend and had my father in law cut out some stuff. He cut these cute shamrocks out and I mod podged the paper on...

We also had to help Blaze make a leprechaun trap for school. I came up with the idea to use a sticky trap and a pot of gold, Mike and Blaze came up with the rest. If this doesn't trap a leprechaun I don't know what will!!!

I am married to my favorite person in the world. We have known each other FOREVER!! We dated for about a month and a half before we got married. That was 10 years ago and the time has FLOWN!

I am a stay at home mom and I adore it. I have had many many jobs since graduating high school. I have been a telemarketer, a preschool teacher, a physical therapy tech, and an ad rep. This is by far my favorite

I was born and raised in Utah, moved to Vegas after I got married and then about 5 years ago moved back to Utah. I live about a block from my parents.

I have 3 crazy kids. Jercie is 8 Blaze is 5 and Kaia will be 3 in June.

Wooden Letters

My awesome father in law cut these letters out for me. I'm sure he did the same for the ladies at Comfie Country Crafts and Night Owl Crafting. Anyway, I just got some cute Christmas scrapbook paper mod podged it on and glittered the top of them. I love love how they turned out. Even if the curly-q on my Noel O keeps getting broken (kids running through the house usually ends up this way).

I got the idea for this little guy back around Halloween. I made these cute little candy thingies. I just painted the base white and used the black top from my Halloween one, put some fake snow in the dish and glued buttons on. I love him!

Headband and Bow

I had dresses made for my girls out of my wedding dress for when we go through the temple.

My neighbor did such an awesome job with them. I used the remains of the dress to make the little rosettes on the headband and parts of the head piece I wore when I got married.

For Kaia's bow I just bought some white ribbon and made a flower and used parts from my head piece to finish it off.

I love love love how they turned out!
