I am headed to the Jersey Shore this week for some #JerseyLove and Social Good #ad

In the last decade where I live in Texas my life has been affected by the destruction that hurricanes can cause. So when Hurricane Sandy hit the Jersey Shore last year and devastated the North East it hit close to home for me. That is why this week I am going with 39 other women to the Jersey Shore to show some #JerseyLove and show that the Jersey Shore is open for business after the devastation that Sandy caused. Yes, I know that President Obama and Govenor Christie declared the shore open last week. But we are going to SHOW you guys that it is open through our adventures.

And to help us show some #JerseyLove we will be hosted by the wonderful Caesars Palace in Atlantic City as well as learning to surf and trying out SurfSkimming with D6 Sports. Sally Hansen Salon Effects Polish Strips

I am one of those people that never mastered the art of polishing my own nails. So when I discovered Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips I was really excited. Because they have awesome designs and are easy to use and look freaking awesome. They also handle really well because I am so rough on my nails and last. So this week while I am preparing for my trip in support of #JerseyLove I decided to use them instead of trying to find the time to go to the salon for a manicure.

This time around I chose this awesome Hearts and Skulls design because to me it fits my personality.

Can’t Wait For Him To Try Invisalign #INVStraightTalk

My oldest son will be 12 soon and has nearly lost all of his baby teeth. One thing that the dentist has mentioned on his last few visits is that we will have to be referred to an orthodontist soon because he is in need of braces. The idea of my son getting braces scares me because when I was younger I did not need them so I have zero experience with them. But I had many friends who had them and would tell horror stories about being picked on and having to deal with the awkwardnes of braces. So when I had the recent opportunity to learn about Invisalign I jumped at it.

Since I still have a few months according to the dentist before he loses his final baby teeth it gives me the time to arm myself with all of the information that I need. I like the thought of Invisalign Teen because the aligners are invisible and they will be easy for my son to use.

And in addition to the aligners being clear so my son won’t have to be self conscious about them, he can also remove them when he eats and brushes his teeth so that he can still take great care of his teeth. Which I love so that means he has less chance of cavities. I also like that with Invisalign that in most cases they do not take as long as braces to straighten teeth.

My son is really not looking forward to the possibility of having to get braces so I think that the Invisalign will be a great choice for him. Now I see him trying to talk me into getting him contacts soon after.

Cheesecake Factory Reese’s Cheesecake Copy Recipe

I love cheesecake and the first time that I went to the Cheesecake Factory I was in love! I first tried the Reese’s Cheescake, and decided that I wanted to try a recipe on my own.
I do want to add that the recipe is very rich and best of all NO BAKE! All of my family and friends who have tried this recipe have loved it and could not get enough.

Here is how you can make your own Reese’s Cheesecake just like you get at the Cheesecake Factory!

Cheesecake Factory Reese’s Cheesecake Copy Recipe

Prep time: 10 mins

Cook time: 3 hours

Total time: 3 hours 10 mins

Ingredients

6 Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups cut into fours
1-1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
12 oz cream cheese, softened
½ cup sugar
½ stick butter or margarine, softened
2 cups frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 chocolate packaged pie crust

Instructions

In a small microwave-safe bowl microwave chocolate chips at 50% power 1 minute; stir. If necessary, microwave at 50% power an additional 15 seconds at a time, stirring after each heating, just until chips are melted when stirred. Set aside to cool.
Arrange Reese’s peanut butter cup pieces in bottom of pie crust.
Mix cream cheese, sugar and butter in large bowl on medium speed of mixer until creamy. Gradually add melted chips, beating on low speed until blended. Mix in whipped topping until blended; spoon into crust.
Refrigerate until firm.
Serve with whipped topping if desired.

Easy Chili Dog Casserole Recipe

Your kids probably love chili dogs as much as my kids do! So in that case I am sure they will love this recipe for Easy Chili Dog Casserole! My boys loved this recipe so much that there were no left overs when they were finished.

Easy Chili Dog Casserole

Prep time: 5 mins

Cook time: 25 mins

Total time: 30 mins

Ingredients

2 cans of chili with beans (I used Wolf Brand with beans, 15 oz cans)
1 package of beef franks (Turkey franks work really well, 16 oz)
10 fajita sized flour tortillas
1 package shredded Cheddar cheese (8 oz)
1 small onion diced (I am not an onion person so I do them really small)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
Pour 1 can of chili with beans into the bottom of a 9X13 baking dish.
Roll up franks inside of tortillas and place in the baking dish (place seam down to keep them from opening up).
Top with remaining can of chili with beans onions and then sprinkle with cheese.
Cover baking dish with aluminum foil (tent the foil so that the cheese does not stick to it.
Bake at 425 degrees for 25 minutes.

This recipe if sun and easy and puts a new spin on a fun dinner time favorite. It can be great for dinner and even lunch. Tell me what you guys think of it!

How we roll after school

So after school we were waiting and Hal pulled an old pair of Wesley’s glasses out. I thought he was adorable and told him he was lucky he didn’t actually need them.

Wes said he looked like a member of The Beatles. Wes, really? Maybe a kid who kind of maybe desperately needs a haircut but is determined not to let it happen.

Then we decided to have a picnic and get ready for soccer. I decided to take Cortana with us. Because she is always up for a car ride. Aren’t most dogs?

And she didn’t bark at anyone at the soccer fields, she was too busy looking around and sniffing stuff she shouldn’t.

I never claimed she was a lady.

And then there was the hiking. Oh my god, I am too old for that. Like seriously we went walking trails while Hal practiced and Wes and my neices left me.

There was kind of a joke about me turning around and running out of the woods and leaving them. But as fun as that sounds, I couldnt bring myself to do that no matter how much tween girls and boys talk.

They talk a lot.

Then we got to actually watch the practice for a while and at the end they scrimmaged a girls team. Thankfully these girls where their age and didn’t slaughter Hal’s team. Last time the girls were bigger and it was bad. Like really bad.

Easy Chicken Pot Pie Recipe

So this recipe for Easy Chicken Pot Pie is exactly as advertised….EASY! And I can say that because while I love to cook the easier the recipe to me the better. I think for this recipe there were actually no leftovers because the kids loved it that much. So here is how you can make your own Easy Chicken Pot Pie:

Easy Chicken Pot Pie Recipe

Ingredients

1 can 12oz precooked chicken
1 cup frozen peas and carrots
2 cans cream of chicken soup
1 can 15.5 oz cubed potatoes
2 7.5 oz cans refrigerated biscuits

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees
In a medium size sauce pan mix the chicken, peas and carrots, cream of chicken soup and potatoes. Heat until bubbling and hot.
Place contents of sauce pan in a baking dish. I used and 9X13 baking dish.
Place biscuits even over the top of the chicken mixture. Making a crust.
Bake for 20 minutes halfway through placing foil over the top so the tops of the biscuits do not burn.

I had fun making this dish for my family and it was perfect for us to eat right before going to the cold soccer fields for practice. Like I said I have two growing boys and they didn’t leave hardly any for anyone else.

Spring Break is now over, and the boys and I had a great time for the most part. I will definitely be detailing our adventures but for now here is a rare picture that they didn’t have to be forced to take part in.
