Hi all!

Finally! After a few months with webserver issues with my top level domain, I am finally moving the blog back to the parent domain, seitoukai.net. I don’t know exactly when this will happen, but yeah I think it’ll be in the near future.

I know that there are a lot of content here that’s not supposed to be lost, and a lot of stuff that’s here are still being downloaded. But, of course, rest assured that we’ll try to keep those stuff intact upon moving.

Anyway, I’ll begin to backup the data. And hopefully, I would be able to do this move without any problems.

Thanks for stopping by!

It’s been a while since I last posted in this blog, and I’ll be posting about something serious this time.

Taking from RedKinoko a rundown of the things that went really wrong in the hostage crisis last night, here are some of my proposed actions to take, that would hopefully, prevent such a crisis to repeat itself in the future:

1.) Increase security budget – This entails more training, better equipment and more talents retained in the business. As our country is losing more and more talented individuals to greener pastures of international employment, this is a must. Also, Make sure that the budget is well-used, and not going into the wrong pockets.

2.) Train people in handling emergency situations – not just the police forces, but also the media, the people (onlookers) as a whole — let them know the value of life and what needs to be done, and also what are the key points in handling a situation like this. They have to take this seriously. Situations like these not happening frequently does not mean it is not important to prepare for.

3.) Establish new protocols and procedures in national emergencies – A single, solid approach to things that involve national security (such as a hostage crisis involving internationals) should be established and properly routed to all participating agencies in the country, including the private sector. These protocols should also be taught to those in industries that are prone to situations like this (such as tourism) so that each personnel can properly handle any given situation professionally.

4.) Educate and reinstill the value of life – Clearly, in the previous standoff, the value of life was taken lightly. Everything — from how the media covered the event, how the area was contained, how the negotiations went, how the rescue operation was conducted– all were done in a haphazard way that everyone was tight on covering their own faults and worrying about only the next step. People, and I mean everyone, should know the value of life in this situation, so that all can work together and are on the same page.

5.) Give one person the command of the situation – From what I’ve seen and heard, there is not a single person held accountable nor taking full command for the actions of everyone involved. There must be someone who should call the shots in situations like these, and to take control of the situation, not the other way around.

and finally,

6.) Give recognition where it’s due – After everyone’s hard work in resolving such a situation, everyone is enjoined to give people who have worked hard in situations like these a recognition they deserve. I’m not just talking about the president giving medals and awards– I’m talking about everyone, including the media. The way good news is played down in this country is very discouraging, especially for those who do heroic actions in the front line (case in point– the Philippine Marine Corps taking part and risking their lives in rescuing the American Hostages from Aby Sayyaf). Giving these guys a pat on the back would do wonders to the morale of the country, as well as the guys in the military.

I know that some of these may or may not be implemented or feasible in a country like ours, but hopefully changes the a very positive direction will follow. The situation should be a lesson to everyone in this country — those involved and not.

We are but an old, free and glorious country. Forgive past transgressions and fight for the future. Trust in one another. Stand together. Work as one nation. Let us work towards a future so bright that future generations will look back to this time and know that we did all that we can to be the best nation that we can be.

Brothers and sisters, the time to act is now.

-Alex “Crosse” Neri

Hey guys, it’s been a long time since my last post here at TSC, the last actually would still be when we were known as SOS.

Yeah, I figured I’d rant here as a way to relieve myself of my anger towards the BASTARD mentioned above.

Why you may ask?

Well, this particular BASTARD had the guts to steal my PSP, while I was inside my car on my way home.

I admit that its partly my fault too but hey, can’t a guy rant out his problems?

Anyway, if ever, by the slightest chance that the BASTARD is reading this message.

You know who you are. That PSP has my PERSONA 3 data. The moment I see your face once again, be prepared for a beating of a lifetime.

Empty threat? Hell no. If I do see you, I don’t even know if I could hold myself back and don’t k*** you.

Also, it apparently comes with a Junpei Iori baseball cap. Talk about freebies. XD

As for me, I’ll be waiting for its box in Datablitz or somewhere, since I’m here in the Philippines. LoL. I just hope they still have stock left once I get there =))

Recently I have resigned from my previous work at IP E-Game Ventures, Inc. as a Supervisor – Community Liason Officer (Community Game Master). My last day on the job was last May 31, 2010. During my stay there, I was able to gain a lot of skills and experience in leading a team of web 2.0 specialists and community managers, as well as gain an unprecedented skill in community management myself. Being a CLO was fun in its own, but of course years of hard work in the industry will always rub you off in a wrong direction.

Anyway, Here are some of my insights in working in the online gaming industry:

1.) It is a learning Experience. A GM is the Jack of All Trades, and a Master of None. You will always learn and acquire new skill sets once you’re on the job, especially since Community Management is a Web 2.0 strategy. You get to multi-task on GFX editing, Video Editing, Blog SEO writing, Press Relations, Events Planning and Implementation, Customer Support and Feedback Reporting and as well as Competitor Analysis. You will get to know also do marketing stuff, such as link building and a small percentage of Customer Acquisition.

And usually most of these are taught to you or assigned to you by the end of the first month.

2.) Being a GM is Fun, but tiring. Yes, many a gamer have wanted to be a GM. However, being one entails more than just conducting events. There are various stuff that you do behind the scenes, and it is serious business. I cannot get into exact detail with this (as GM tasks vary from gaming company to gaming company), but all I can say is that you will have to be really dedicated to get into this kind of work. And yes, need I say that you have to be very analytical and a quick thinker at the same time?

3.) You will fly more frequently to domestic locations than you have ever done before. You will do events on-ground in various locations; from the city to the provinces. Any venue would do– as long as there are your gamers there.

You’d wish that you had a frequent flier account once everything dawns onto you.

4.) The Pay Isn’t Proportional to your Responsibility. Let’s face it– like any other jobs out there that go well with your passion or hobby, being in the gaming industry does not compensate well for your skill set and/or responsibility. Sure, you’re the one that controls the expectations of the gamers and helping solve their issues with your products– but bear in mind that this kind of responsibility equates itself to the BPO Customer Support Representative. I asked a friend of mine who is in the BPO industry and checked their salary range for people with the same skill sets as a GM, and not surprisingly she gave me a number that was double what you get in the gaming industry.

Yes, doing something that you have passion for is enough for you to go by in your life’s fulfillment, but once responsibilities at home catches up to you, you will have no choice but to make it your priority.
