I have been posting three articles last week every month Dec, Jan and now Feb on Social Media Club Global, as a part of SMC Editorial Team.

These will transform into a "Manifesto for Global Digital Participation - Get All Online, Get All To Get It", re-edited and merged into one.

Congratulations, Wikipedia, to your 10 year anniversary! I reblogged the SSL-search of "wikipedia 10 years" thru my Typepad Dashboard, and pick'd these mentions of the event with Reuters and Esquire seemingly the sources "curated" by Google as the most relevant. Go read for yourself :). The rest ends up in Wikipedia in the long run. Knowledge That Lasts beyond the real-time frenzy. Right? :)

And on a second place to drive up the force for the shift towards a new everydayness reality for me. More on that latter thing to come. As shared here (personal blog), here and here (this blog), I am rebooting my computer after the hard disc crashed the other month. I wanted to see how this embedding from my Hootsuite stream of the same worked out. This serves as a note-to-self, to see what I do to personalize my 13 point 3 inch window to the machine that never has broken down (as opposed to my singluar laptop) - the Web.

Veckan som följer är jag deltagare på två evenemang arrangerat av Stiftelsen för Internetinfrastruktur (eller .SE kort och gott) - Upprop för digital delaktighet och Internetdagarna 2010.

Upprop för digital delaktighet - 25 oktober

Från evenemangsbeskrivningen;

"Den 25 oktober på Folkets Hus är det dags att ställa oss frågan vad vi tillsammans kan göra för att minska den digitala klyftan. Den här dagen riktar vi in oss på digital kompetens. Vi kommer lyfta områdena; arbetsliv, utbildning, vård & omsorg, vardagsnära sysslor och demokrati & integration. Vi kommer tala om värdet av digitalt nyttjande för individen och för samhället, utbildningsmetodik, organisation, finansiering och en framtida samverkan för ett nationellt kunskapslyft. Alla som kommer till seminariet deltar aktivt och kommer få möjlighet att signa upp sig på ett fortsatt aktivt engagemang! Missa inte det!"

Projektledaren, Linda Sandberg, rapporterade i förrgår hela 275 deltagare! Underbart :).

På detta evenemang representerar jag min arbetsgivare Jobbfabriken. Jag har i min befattning som handledare för långtidsarbetslösa för denna största anordnaren inom jobb- och utvecklingsgarantins fas tre arbetat hårt med spridning av kunskaper inom sociala medier. Huvudprojektet under vinter/vår/sommar var att stötta en grupp (under namnet Social Media Explorers) som arbetade med att ta ut Kolmårdens Djurpark på sociala webben (Facebook / YouTube / Flickr (grupp / profil) / Twitter / Kolmårdenbloggen). Lärandet har även lett till att SMHI anlitade delar av gruppen i ett skarpt pilotprojekt - deras Facebooksida. Vidare har jag gått igenom hur Wordpress.com fungerar för nu fjärde studiecirkelstora gruppen. På Jobbfabriken finns även det samhällsnyttiga projektet FolkIT, som syftar till att sprida kunskaper om nätets kostnadsfria tjänster till en bredare allmänhet. Jag kommer självklart ha med mig det ideella fritidsengagemanget inom Social Media Club - Chapter Support Assocation - Sweden i detta sammanhang också - "If you get it, share it" är ju en devis som ligger helt i linje med detta upprop!

Internetdagarna 2010 - 26-27 oktober

Bortom denna hyperintressanta dag, kommer jag representera mitt eget frilansvarumärke SLICE Services and Publishing tisdag och onsdag under Internetdagarna 2010. Jag blev inbjuden att ingå i socialmedieredaktionen - ledd av Linda "Copylinda" Sandberg - för detta ett av Internetsveriges största evenemang redan förra året, och fick nu förnyat förtroende. Tack, Linda!

Jag kommer bevaka under allmänna keynotes - först och främst via frenetiskt twittrande både i text och bild - men kommer sedan i de valbara spåren ha en tyngdpunkt på positionering den 26e och mobilitet den 27e.

As promised in my last blog post, here is the sharing solution focus.

1. The main tool I found (through Firefox recommendations, in fact), was Share-a-holic. That is the green button besides the address field. It gets a drop down menu where I can choose service I want to share with.

2. Still, it's two steps - click, and then choose from menu. So I was adding two one-click-sharings bookmarklets. "Blog it" - in fact used when writing this note! - is a bookmarklet with quick clippings focused on my "publishing" life in my main professional blog - this one, yes :).

The other one is "Amplify it" - used to trigger convos with comments on clippings of one kind or the other - from own sources or other's. This is published on "Conversations from a Sustainopreneur" - http://sliceonline.amplify.com.

3. Then, I have made a special solution for my sharing of my Geolocation, and "what I do" at the moment, including #dayplan stream - my Foursquare sharing. There is this elegant and excellent Firefox Add-on called FoursquareFox (http://foursquarefox.com).

You also see the what's beside the "Compose message" field - all my accounts on Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin with respective Avatar. Go see where and what;

Getting out on the social web, and taking part of the conversation and action-driven flows out there is one of the core parts of the leverage done to the "sustainopreneurial moment".

Thus, the "interface to and from the web" gets of central importance. For me, it's the browser and connections to the services used.

After my hard drive broke down the other month, and living on borrowed laptops during repair and then getting a new hard drive into my main tool, I deliberately made the choice to share my "reboot process" - i. e. what I installed, and when. In real time. This can be followed on twitter with the tag #slicereboot (I have shared before on my personal blog http://andersabrahamsson.me).

Now, I customized the bookmark toolbar on my Firefox 3.6 browser. Click to enlarge, and I highlight the following parts;

1. Inboxes - favicons enough to get to my message boards of my choice - Facebook and Yahoo mail (where I have all my other mails aliased - no, I haven't converted to gmail...). And, yes, I veiw the Hootsuite as an Inbox Interface...

2. Admin dashboards - TypePad (Notes... this blog!), Wordpress ("Etwas Anders" - my personal blog), Tumblr (Snapshots from a Sustainopreneur), Posterous (Moments from a Sustainopeneur), Amplify (Conversations from a Sustainopreneur), Twitter and Bit.ly links shared.

3. Then - the output. The "front side" of all the admin dashboards above - all my publishing and conversation streams.

All this work was soundtracked with Markus Schulz, as seen :).

In next browser sharing in the #slicereboot process I will highlight and focus the sharing solutions I've made.

I think the main way ahead when it comes to clean and safe water production and distribution for health and drinking - and that is thinking new and differently, implementing innovations turned into sustainopreneurial ventures in one way or another.

Twestival and Water February 2009
When I arranged Norrköping Twestival, the first year Twestival was running globally, the overall theme was water, with charity recipent Charity:Water. I made a presentation that year, recycled here. I focused water innovations, and highlighted some case stories.

I talked about Ultra Violet Water Purifiers of various kinds. I mentioned Sodis - cleaning the water with PET bottles in the sun. I shared the story of PlayPumps - kids having fun at the same time pumping up water. I showed the Life Straw - a special straw drinking water through, with filter, even from the dirtiest rivers in the developing countries.

What they all have in common is the "small scale". It's not about big pipes and systems with long distance water distribution in centralized systems, it's about having the solution close and near the smaller contexts; individual, family, village.

But it's not only innovation in product. It's also about innovation in process. Later same year, Twestival in Norrköping and Global was arranged again - Twestival Local.

This time, once again, the charity recipent was water-related, and it was community-chosen. We were chosing Akvo, and a water project in Tblisi, Georgia. Also, the co-founder of Akvo, Thomas Bjelkeman, was invited as guest speaker.

Akvo represents a new way of matching project with donor. Take a look!

In sum - it's all about creating strong action in new ways and manners. Where the biggest world problems could turn out to be even greater business opportunities. And the area of "fixing the water problem" is no exception.

In my latest slideshare from my latest presentation from mid-May, I added two Hashtags in one of the landing slides at the ending, illustrating two network-ventures I co-organize, related to the changing face of work. Meaning: Work Where You Want. Work When You Want. Yes. In the light of the reblogging I did on Godin's "Goodbye to the Office", I now start by blogging some series of posts inspired by the slides I shared on my presentation. (Note - inspired by the slides. They only share the core of the message I shared live. See the comment I added to the slides.) 

Changing face of work? Yes - Social Media Club is a network with people who meet offline to share ideas, thoughts, experiences and knowledge on what's going on with us online - the social web. I am coordinating SMC Östergötland and also sit in the Interim Board with @AndersSporring and Thomas @Selig for SMC Sweden - Chapter Support Association - @smcswe. No doubt the Net has made it possible for us to restructure our everydayness profoundly.

As said - we don't need that office as we knew it.

But still - as Seth pointed out. We need somewhere to go. That's where Lasso Network steps in. We're a local network who want to create the co-working place in our dreams - a place boiling with life energy and creativity! Entrepreneurship all flavours - cultural, sustainability, societal. In one spot. Flexible Working Place, Inspiring Meeting Place and an Energetic Cultural Scene - in one place.

As said - we still need a place to go, where we actually WANT to work.

The Hereworking Vocabulary

In the mean time - me, Anders Sporring and Johan Lange had a little Facebook Microforum chat session that took its departure from my GF's coining of the term "soffice" - Sofa Office. That's the place she run her business Nailmail from - at home. And at the social web, yes. Of course. Place and Space.

A reference of pioneering thoughts in this space is of course Teo Härén of Interesting.org, who wrote the book "Härarbeta" - Hereworking - work where you do your best.

So here we go - in chronoalphabetical order, as a result of our virtual triple located brainstorming session. I. e. the terms as I remember them, maybe in order they came up in the session, or in no particular order at all ;). Structure is for cowards :P. I begin with some early predecessors, and share our new suggestions, and end up with a little brain storming session, taking the departure from the places I actually HAVE worked from, looking back, in retrospect :).

We need to differ.

150 years later, why go to work in an office/plant/factory?

1. That's where the machines are.
2. That's where the items I need to work on are.
3. The boss needs to keep tabs on my productivity.
4. There are important meetings to go to.
5. It's a source of energy.
6. The people I collaborate with all day are there.
7. I need someplace to go.

But...

1. If you have a laptop, you probably have the machine already, in your house.
2. If you do work with a keyboard and a mouse, the items you need to work on are on your laptop, not in the office.
3. The boss can easily keep tabs on productivity digitally.
4. How many meetings are important? If you didn't go, what would happen?
5. You can get energy from people other than those in the same company.
6. Of the 100 people in your office, how many do you collaborate with daily?
7. So go someplace. But it doesn't have to be to your office.

If we were starting this whole office thing today, it's inconceivable we'd pay the rent/time/commuting cost to get what we get. I think in ten years the TV show 'the Office' will be seen as a quaint antique.

When you need to have a meeting, have a meeting. When you need to collaborate, collaborate. The rest of the time, do the work, wherever you like.

The gain in speed, productivity and happiness is massive. What's missing is #7... someplace to go. Once someone figures that part out, the office is dead."

I've followed Seth Godin around ten years now in his lines of thoughts. Ideas he advocate has been around now for quite a while, but he always seems to manage to get the ideas reformulated - and get to the Bull's Eye, so Spot On. That's why I choose to reblog it in its entirety.
