New year new start!

Lat night before going to bed It occurred to me I should start posting back on my blog that I started what back in 2011. And here I am thing morning doing what I decided. I have realized live is all about taking action. Procrastinating doesn't take you anywhere and sometimes getting back to your roots is all you need to do to move forward. On a bright side here I am in 2019 staring this year with not letting others opnion effect my thoughts,taking action, being successful and Happy. I choose to be Happy and Proacctive.

MOTHER'S DAY MINI BOOK USING SEWING MACHINE

I decided to send my mom a mini book which she can carry around in her bag to write notes and this something that make her think of me every time she uses it and I knew she will enjoy carrying it around in her bag with her as much as I did making this one for her.

Also, keeping in mind not to make it too bulky because it had to be mailed.

This is a no measurement project what that means is I did not measure the paper just went by the rough judgement while trimming the papers.

I had my old sketch book which I was not using and has lot of unused papers. So I just trimmed the papers using a paper trimmer I would say I used approximately 10 sheets of paper.

I folded them in to half like that I got a book with 20 pages and cut the paper for the cover a bit bigger than the pages.

I then just used my sewing machine to sew(zig zag stitch) the pages on to the cover it is so quick and fast.

glued embellishment and ribbons and I used my dymo label maker to print Happy Mother's day.

This could be a very good gift for teacher's or just for yourself to carry around with you to take quick notes.

LAST MINUTE FLOWERY EASTER BASKET

We had to go for a easter hunt this morning and I had to come up with a basket for my 2year old to carry.

I wanted to make it very flowery and springy so I decide to just go all out with the decorations and have some fun along the way with the help of some artificial flowers, spray paint and my favorite GLUE GUN.

I made this cone door hanging to welcome spring a month ago and I sure was going to take it down and store it way until I came up with an idea to reuse the flowers.

I decided to take them apart and use them to make beautiful basket.

Here is the picture of the cone hanging on the door knob.

What I first did was took this basket ands spray painted it in yellow. Not worrying much about painting the insides.

I then took the flowers out of the cone.

Then I just cut the flowers and leaves out of the stems so it would be easier for me to glue them on to the basket.

For the name I just cut an orange color paper in an oval shape and glued it in the center and then glued the flowers and leaves around the basket. The oval paper with the name actually gave me a a center point to work around with and at the same time making it more personalized.

Voila!! The Easter Basket was ready in less than a couple of hours.

Ahana loved carrying around her beautiful flowery basket.

Re-purposed Shoe Boxes

I just love to give a new look to all the container and boxes and so for that I collect pretty much any box or container...that could be a cereal boxes to oatmeal containers to coffee container or the bath and body works scrub containers and Shoe boxes too.

We all have tones of shoe boxes and we use them to store our shoes or throw them or some of us will think of making use of these boxes...I definitely don't think I would like to throw all the show boxes because they make such a great boxes for storage and the best thing you can give the boxes a personalized look. Here are a few ways I re- purposed all the shoe boxes I have.

I have used lot of different mediums to decorate the shoe boxes...I have used gesso, decoupage,modelling clay, scrap booking scrap papers,Stamps and lots of paint to the boxes....and also I have used my painting skills on them to make them look like a piece of art. You might also see that I have used mixed media painting techniques on some of them.

I use these shoe boxes in my crafting space to store painting supplies, papers and etc...I love the way it gives a cheap/free alternative for storage.

I made these mixed media shoe boxes couple of yrs ago and as you can see these look a bit torn around the corners.

These are the ones that I used gesso to cover all the words and the shinny surface that you get on a shoe box...I think I must have even sanded them before I painting with gesso...sanding helps holding the gesso if the boxes are have the shinny paper on them. I might have applied couple of coats of gesso before I started painting and once the gesso was dried I took my paints,stencils, stamps and just started painting. I also used Natural Sand(Texture gels by Liquitex) to give some dimensional effect on the sided of the lid.

This were I used the sand...I just used a palette knife and stencils and ran the sand over the stencil and let it dry before I painted.

I had my two yr olds shoes boxes...and I really liked the size and I think they make great storage for the acrylic paints...so I painted some gesso over the boxes to cover the words and the brand name(on the boxes) and then used a acrylic paint to color over the gesso once it was dried. I did not use sand paper...as the boxes do not have the shinny coating. Then used mod podge to glue the scrap papers.

As you can see I use them to store my paint supplies.

PINK AND ORANGE BIRTHDAY

Kids birthdays are the most joyous and satisfying parties. Its always a pleasure to be able to create party decorations for kids birthday espically if the kids is your own. This is when i just starting get a feel of doing kids birthday ans was so unsure to how and what all needs to be done to host a succesful birthday party.
All been said and done I managed to pull the party as a successful party. A second birthdy ia such an important ans special tiem in kids life. This is the year when they realize that this day is there specila day. Pink and Orange were Ahana's two favorite colors at time.

Crafting brings so much joy to me.
