The moment we had all been waiting for has finally come! Harry's first photoshoot/interview post One Direction is here and it's everything I've ever wanted and more. To begin this new era, Harry posted on Instagram 3 blank pictures, about a day later posted his 3 covers for Another Man, and today basically the entire HQ photoshoot was released! Beatles, 70s Lad, and Modern Man were the themes, and if you know me, you would know that I am completely IN LOVE with this concept. I'm fascinated with the 60s/70s and even more so with Harry, so the combination of the two is just a dream. The styling is perfect (pink high top converse, floral suits, nail polish, fuzzy sweaters, marble pants, collars, tattoos and cross = icon in the making) and the pictures referenced are some of my favorites. Apart from the amazing photos by some of my favorite photographers, there is an essay written by Gemma, Harry's older sister, sharing childhood memories about her amazing little brother. One of Harry's idols (and mine of course), Paul McCartney also interviewed him. Best of both worlds am I right? So is Harry the new Mick Jagger? Maybe not, but he's Harry Styles, and no doubt he is going to join the ranks of McCartney and Jagger. Now, I haven't really read anything yet, since I'm still waiting for my 2 magazines to arrive (yes I tried to buy all 3 covers but one was sold out) but from the quotes floating around on tumblr, Harry's interview is just as interesting and lovely as he is. He sounded sincere and grateful about being in 1D, was not bitter and didn't put anyone or anything down. That's just nice and refreshing isn't it? Also in the mag is a "special document curated by Harry" which I think are the photographs he took of his painter friend Tom Campbell (is there anything Harry can't do?), and "the Harry Styles archive" which are pics of some of his favorite things. I won't keep you waiting any longer, here are the beautiful pictures:

Lips so good I forget my name...

Something that always gets tongues wagging is a pair of big, plump, full, juicy lips. Are they real? Are they fake? Is it lip liner or lip injections? Who cares? Here's a list I've complied of some of my fave famous puckers, from the 1950s to today.

1. Brigitte Bardot

Everybody's dream girl. Bob Dylan dedicated his first poem to her and John Lennon tried to model his pre-Beatle girlfriends after her. And it's no wonder, just take a look at her perfect French pout.

2. Elvis Presley

For Elvis it wasn't so much the lips than what he did with them. That famous lip curl drove the girls wild, and many try but fail, to imitate it today.

3. Marilyn Monroe

The most famous pair of red lips. Marilyn would use different lipsticks and glosses to get her now iconic red pout. Andy Warhol was even inspired to create a silkscreen painting titled "Marilyn Monroe's Lips."

4. Mick Jagger-Georgia May Jagger

Some people thought Mick's lips were sexy and dangerous, others described them as rubbery (ew). Either way, Mick's rock and roll pout was the inspiration for the Rolling Stones lips and tongue logo. He went on to pass his lush lip genes to his kids, most notable Georgia May.

5. Steven Tyler- Liv Tyler

Another famous rocker pucker is that of Steven Tyler. Often compared to Jagger's lips, Tyler also passed on his pillowy pout to daughter Liv.

6. Angelina Jolie

One of the first things people think about when talking about Angelina is her plush pout. Amazing lips on an even more amazing woman.

7. Lindsey Wixson

What makes Lindsey stand out from the rest on the runway is her doll face, gap teeth and rosebud lips.

8. Lana Del Rey

Lana's lips were the first to cause major controversy. There are claims that her perfectly bee stung lips are as fake as her Lana persona. But I think that reinventing yourself and being mysterious is rather appealing. Yeah she's fake but so what? Own that fakeness, at least the music is good.

9. Harry Styles

What kind of list would it be if I don't mention my fave? Many hail Harry as the second coming of Mick Jagger and I agree. From the wavy long locks (which are currently chopped off but I'm saving that for another post!) and amazing fashion sense, to the electric stage presence and tantalizingly kissable lips. I also had to include this mask Harry designed because I think it fits the theme: "One day i'd like to meet your mouth." Well!

10. Kylie Jenner

Probably the most controversial lips of all. The lips everyone loves and hates. Kylie went from having not lips to luscious lips overnight. At first she said it was just lip liner but she wasn't fooling anyone and she finally admitted that she had lip injections.

Haven't done one of these posts in a while have I?! Anyroad, seeing as how I love Harry and I love to procrastinate (I have 2 major finals that are due today, but have I started? nope!) I thought it would be good to finally post this. Of course I am aware that Harry does not look like this anymore, but back in 2012, One Direction was about to hit their prime and Harry was only 18 when he got himself tangled up with Taylor Swift. Here I was trying to convince myself that I'm way too old to even care about any of this. But who am I kidding? I watched as Harry walked in and out of Taylor's hotel room in New York, saw Taylor go to 1D's major MSG concert and sang and danced with them at the after party (where Louis pushed her out of the way, have I mentioned how much I love Louis?) Suffered threw countless interviews where they'd ask Harry about Taylor and he'd avoid answering the question like the pop star pro he is. I was outraged when Taylor was showing off a paper plane necklace very similar to the one Harry used to wear. I held my breath when pics of Harry at a tattoo place with Taylor at 3 in the morning surfaced. I cringed when I saw that New Years kiss. I seethed in jealousy when Harry took Taylor to Holmes Chapel and gave her 23 cupcakes for her 23rd birthday (rumor has it Taylor ordered the cupcakes herself, and Harry just picked them up for her, lol). And I was finally at peace when I saw a photo of Harry happy in a hut tub filled with rich men & women and Taylor by herself on a boat back home. They had finally broken up! And Taylor had all the inspiration she needed for the album that was to be 1989. The most obvious song about Harry is "Style" but also "Out of the Woods" which references a ski trip Harry and Taylor took together, they had a snowmobile accident and Harry ended up cutting his chin open (foreshadowing much?). Other songs include: "All You Had to Do Was Stay,""How You Get the Girl," "I Know Places", and "Wildest Dreams." The line 'he's so tall and handsome as hell' is obvs about Harry. People also seem think that "I Knew You Were Trouble" from Red was also about Harry, which I doubt but I can totally see where they're coming from. ALSO, the singer Halsey was super in love with Harry (can you blame the girl?) and wrote a parody of IKYWT titled "The Haylor Song"and another love song called "S.O.S." Very cringe but very funny.

"How much nut for nuts is too much nuts for nuts?" The infamous Central Park date. After all the rumors, Harry and Taylor were spotted looking all friendly. Throw in a pic of a girl carrying around baby Lux and you got a 1D girlfriend in the the making.

Hello all, I hope everyone's new year is going great so far. It looks like it's going to be a great music year because on March 25, Zayn releases Mind of Mine, his first solo album!! I'm so excited for the promo and tour that I'll ignore he picked the exact same day he left 1D. So in celebration, here is a shoot Zayn did with the amazing Ellen von Unwerth.

I never got around to making a post about how great Made in the A.M. is. Or Four for that matter... anyroad, if Midnight Memories was an homage to 70s/80s anthem rock, Four was a tribute to folky rock and roll (Clouds = Band on the Run= AMAZING), then Made in the A.M. is also like the second coming of Beatles/Fleetwood Max/Paul Simon/a 70s musical dream. For example, "Olivia" was actually written in Abbey Road with strings, but no trumpets much to Harry's dismay, and sounds like late Beatles. "I Want to Write You A Song" reminds me of "Two of Us." "Temporary Fix" is like a prequel to my personal Four fave "No Control." "What A Feeling" is Harry's homage to Fleetwood Mac. Other great sing-alongs: Hey Angel, End of the Day, Never Enough, Love You Goodbye, Wolves, and A.M. Let's not forget heartbreak/romantic ballads: If I Could Fly, Long Way Down, Walking in the Wind (rumor has it Harry wrote this for his grandma). They also released an EP with singles: "Drag Me Down" the perfect song to listen to while getting ready to do anything, "Perfect" a big FU to Taylor Swift, and "Home" the most beautiful song ever?! Ok, so basically I listed all the songs on the album, but they are literally all masterpieces and I'm so of proud my boys; here's the photos they did for the album promo.

It goes on smooth and gives you good coverage, what more do you need? It's a lot cheaper than those other name brand foundations and works just as well. And here's a secret, the company that makes YSL makeup is the same one that makes L'Oréal makeup, so you know the quality is good.

This scrub by Frank Body smells and looks just like coffee (they also have coconut, peppermint, and cacao) and leaves your skin feeling and looking super silky smooth. They also recently came out with face and lip products which I'm excited to try soon. But this coffee scrubs is gentle enough to use on your face as well. 7. I got the Jumbo Eye Pencil by NYX Cosmetics. These eyeliners/eyeshadow pencils are just amazing. They come in over 30 different shades and go on so smooth. My personal fave Milk, which is obviously white but the great thing is not only can you use it to line your waterline and make your eyes look big and doll-like, but it also doubles as eye primer, you can wear it under any eyeshadow to make it pop and last all day. And here's a tip: if you have trouble sharpening these eye pencils, just pop them in the freezer for 15 mins and it makes it a whole lot easier to sharpen.

10. A day late but on the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, Skinny Brush Mascara by Eyeko London. This is currently one of my favorite mascaras. It makes your lashes super long and dark, it's waterproof but easy to remove and best of all it's not clumpy. If I remember correctly I got this when Eyeko was having a sale, so I got the Skinny, Fat, and Curvy Brush Mascara, plus the VisualEyes liquid eyeliner in marine for a total of $30. And here's a tip: layer on 2 or all 3 of these mascaras (or any brand/type of mascara really) for out of this world lashes.

11. My true love gave to me.... a beauty tip that made life so much easier. And that tip is a fast and easy way to clean makeup brushes. What you do is take a container and fill it up with two parts dish soap to one part olive oil, put your makeup brushes in, swirl them around letting them absorb this miracle concoction, after take them out, rinse with warm water, and let them dry. And voilà ! Clean and like-new makeup brushes.

Remember how back in January I said was introducing some new type of posts? Well better late than never I always say, here is my 12 days of Christmas Beauty and Things countdown:

12. One of my absolute fave palettes at the moment is the Balm Jovi: Rockstar Face Palette by the Balm Cosmetics. Not only is it very rock and roll, but it comes with 12 highly pigmented shimmery/matte eyeshadows that can be used wet or dry, highlighter, blush, and 2 lip/cheek creams. Compared to the Urban Decay palettes, it's a lot cheaper at only around $40 and you get high quality make-up for your whole face. Here's an extra tip: if you order it through Hautelook whenever they have this particular brand event planned, you can get the palette for half the price!

Today's an emotional day if you're a One Direction fan. It was the boys' final performance on The X-Factor UK before they take their much needed "hiatus" and I am feeling all sorts of things. Bittersweet is the word I'm looking for I think. I'm sad because it's the end of an era and who knows when we'll see all 4 (or 5, a girl can wish) boys together again. But I'm also happy and excited to see what the future has in store for my favorite boys. I hope they're happy and stay friends and keep their promise to come back. They've brought so much happiness to me when I needed it the most and I feel like I've learned so much and grown up along with them and I just feel like I need to thank them for all that and for just being themselves and I just love them so much. To be a bit dramatic (as if I wasn't already): Harry, Liam, Louis, and Niall, thank you for EVERYTHING, see you soon my loves!!

Honestly Harry in that red floral Gucci suit deserves his own post. Can you say style icon?!

In the meantime lets all look at "one direction funny moments" "A Year in the Making" and "This Is Us" on a loop and have Up All Night, Take Me Home, Midnight Memories, Four, and Made in the A.M on repeat.

(sidenote: I can't help but compare 1D to the Beatles ok, alright, and I'm just so scared they'll go down that same road, hence why I'm feeling so dramatic, but hopefully they'll follow in the steps of the Rolling Stones and keep on touring when they're 60+ years old.)

Back in March I had a sappy post lined up about Zayn leaving One Direction and now that I had months to think things through, let things sink in, and see all the stuff that has happened, I'm glad I didn't let impulse win this time. Now I'm all for doing you're own thing and being #real and #happy, which is what Zayn is saying in the article that officially comes out on December. But I can't help still feel disappointed at some of the things Zayn said and did. Whether he was fired or left the band because he wanted to, its bad either way you look at it. Maybe I'm not as understandable as Zayn claims Liam to be, but I do not understand why he left 1D the way that he did if they were planning on working on music and things aside from being in the band anyway. Maybe I'm slightly bitter cos I went through a similar situation where 2 people in my life just got up and left with no real warning. You can't do that, not when there are people counting on you and you've got all these obligations. The fair and real grown up thing to do would have been to just be honest and say that you're not happy anymore and that you're going to leave. And while it is totally understandable that he was not happy with the music 1D were making and did not allow his creative input, I cannot stand when people are pretentious and ungrateful. The only reason he even has the freedom and can afford to do whatever he wants now is because he was in 1D. And just cos 1D is not the style of music you're into does not mean it's fake, and this is coming from a former pretentious music elitist. I guess to me it's just sad that I'm getting some "George Harrison bitter after the Beatles" vibe from Zayn. That being said, I am looking forward to seeing what this "normal 22 year old" has in store music-wise.

Rock 'N' Roll Princess

On the continued quest of pursing my dreams and goals, I decided to get a fashion merchandising degree, which means I'm currently taking a whole bunch of fashion classes. A project I'm working on for my merchandising class is a profile on the current designer for Saint Laurent, Hedi Slimane. The reason I picked him was not only is he a photographer, but his design inspiration comes from music; he designs clothes for musicians, for people who hang out with musicians, and for the people who wish they were part of that magical, rock and roll world. Now, I've always liked fashion but I never really paid much attention to collections and runway shows, but now I kind of have to. That being said, I have to say I quite like this latest ready-to-wear collection for women by Slimane for Saint Laurent. The looks are very Glastonbury and reminiscent of Courtney Love; slinky dresses and oversized sweaters, boots and tiaras. Think punk rock royalty meets thrift store. Where We Are? On the Road Again!!

Basically the only good thing that happened to me last year was that I got see One Direction on their Where We Are Tour. And the only good thing that has happened to me this year so far is that I got to see 1D again. As cheesy as it sounds, this band managed to help me get through these tough times with their music and gave me something to look forward to. Because there is nothing I love more than the anticipation you feel as you count down the days leading up the concert, the nervous excitement on the actual day of the concert, waiting in line, scanning your ticket and finding your seat, and finally the way the lights dim and your heart drops and you see THEM. For a few hours you forget everything and you're just so happy. Now I know there's been a whole lot of drama surrounding the boys lately (Zayn leaving, Louis is going to be a dad?!, etc.,) but they are a welcome distraction to my life right now. Anyway, here are the pictures I took at both concerts!

Where We Are: Shitty seats but looking back I like the way the pictures turned out and also, Zayn was there. But to be honest I barely remember what happened at the concert except that Harry kept wishing some guy named Rafael a happy birthday and I really liked the way he pronounced the name.

On The Road Again: I have to admit that I actually liked this concert a lot better than last year's because Harry interacted with the crowd a lot, there were cute interactions between Liam, Louis, and Niall, plus I had field seats. But alas, the only good view I had was of the giant screen. I was actually still pretty far from the stage and while the boys were on the catwalk I could only see their backs. There were also so many people around that it was really difficult to hold still and get a good picture. Especially of Harry who flits about on stage, a true Jagger-esque frontman, dancing seductively in gold Dior boots, captivating and engaging the audience to clap,stomp, and moan along with him. The boy oozes charm I tell you. As for the other boys: Niall is sunshine and happiness on stage, playing his guitar and dancing around. Louis was all giggles and quite the stunner with his killer cheek bones, slick quiff, and sleeveless shirts. And sweet, darling Liam (whose parents were in the audience how cute!) with the magic voice was a good sport when Louis dared him to break dance after losing a game or rock, paper, scissors.
