M.I.A. made headlines for flipping of the American TV audience during Madonna’s extravaganza at the Superbowl last weekend.

Great publicity if you ask me for her new single, Bad Girls.

The track is her first release since her third album Maya in 2010, and since the birth of her little one. Maya was slightly underwhelming for me, it felt like a rush release after the success she had with Paper Plane’s 6 months prior.

However things have taken a turn with this new song, I think this could possibly be up for one of the best music videos of the year, and we are only 6weeks in.

We often showcase whatever bright, dancy K-Pop is popular at the moment on this site, but rarely do we show the other sides of Korean music.

Believe it or not, there are artists out there that are creating interesting and alternative music away from K-Pop. Today we are showcasing an artist we reckon sits somewhere in between those to parallels.

Originally the founding member of Clazziquai in the early naughties, Clazzi has been working on his own solo projects of late, pulling some big K-Pop names to feature on his slightly alternative tracks.

The latest of which is a record called Love & hate featuring MYK. This song is of his new album INFANT.

We really like it.

NYC based singer Santigold will be releasing her much awaited second album in the first half of 2012, titled Master of My Make Believe.

Her first release off the album is a track called Big Mouth, not the first official single.

Whilst constant comparisons between musicians can get boring, a parallel has to be drawn between this new track from Santigold and the earlier records from M.I.A. From not only the beats, produced by Switch from Major Lazer,  but the video as well.

The good news is, I think Santigold does it better.

Big Mouth isn’t as in your face as some early M.I.A., it’s techno pace and tribal beats actually make for pretty chilled listening.

The track is on offer as a free download now at download at Santigold’s site when you sign up to her mailing list.

Aussie duo Flight Facilities made a big splash in 2010 with their track Crave You.

Not much is known about them as they seem to be fans of anonymity. FF released a new single called Foreign Language half-way through last year which somehow slipped through the cracks of making on the site.

The video was only released last month, and is quite hilarious.

It’s an absolute awesome modern disco style track. One of my faves of 2011.

US native Lana Del Ray made a splash in the music scene a couple months ago with her track and video, Video Games.

Gaining a cult like following since then, Lana will release her Second full length LP at the end of the month, titled Born To Die.

Born To Die is also the name of her second single from the upcoming release, the video for which is interesting to say the least.

I prefer this track to Video Games, and if you like tigers and raunch this could be the video for you.

Jimmy Wong is a YouTube musician we have been following for a while now, yet he has yet to make in onto our site until now. Jimmy has collaborated with Swiss American Federation on a new single released under the latter’s name, called Don’t Let Go.

The music video, shot by YouTube royalty Fredie Wong (Jimmy’s brother) and produced by Jimmy, is an awesome accompaniment of digital projection for the track.
