So I finally got around to making my sister her owl that she requested.
Sigh of relief...
She's a super cute Amigurumi owl, I got the pattern for free from www.lionbrand.com. There is post there for a graduation owl. I didn't do the full on graduation owl just the body, but she still came out super cute.You can also sign up for an account on their website and get many free crochet and knit patterns there as well.
Now to get to the post office and actually send it out to her.... hmm, thats another day. ;D

So lately I have been getting very into photoshop and web editing. I love creating custom designs for my blogs.

Sooo anywho, I looked all over yesterday for a cherry blossom tree vector to put on my header for my new blog

After spending about 20 minutes all over google, I couldn't find one to my liking.

So I thought how hard would it be to do one myself?

Well an hour later after tinkering with all the different photoshop tools I came up with this.

I had to give myself a huge pat on the back for it. I think it came out great!

Doing this picture has given me ample inspiration to see what else I can create with photoshop. So there will be much more to come.

Tut's Got a Brand New Hat!

So I don't usually condone dressing up pets for any reason, but my attempt at an amigurumi owl for my sister didn't really go so well. Sooooooo mid way down the pattern I decided hey why not give my very cute puppy a hat.

So I present to you the mighty cute puppy top hat, perfect for any black tie occasion ;)

I'm sure as you can tell that I probably enjoyed this much more the poor little Tut lol.

Soooo i have been slacking! Sorry for no posts lately! I am in the works of making my favorite big sister rocky an amigurumi owl from scratch but havent quite gotten the shape of it yet. It has to be perfect for my sissy face! I will post the owl as well as a free amigurumi pattern for it as well, just as soon as I figure it out. (tehe) Thank u sooooo sooo much for reading! Well I have been wanting to do Amigurumi for forever now!

With all of my other ongoing projects, and projects yet to be sent out I was apprehensive to start it.

But with so much pride I have to tell you that I completed my first Amigurumi project in under a day!!! Yay!

In honor of Easter I made a cute little Amigurumi bunny. Its a little off with the measurement of the eyes but heyyyyyy whos measuring?

Its a nice start and I think I am really going to like to do much more Amigurumi in the future.

Single Crochet

The Single Crochet

In addition to the chain stitch the single crochet is a very important part of crocheting.

Lots of patterns and projects include the single crochet throughout. So if you are just learning to crochet, the single crochet will be another stitch you will want to familiarize yourself and practice with.

If your not sure on how to perform a chain stitch it will be very important for you to learn before you can continue to single crochet. If you need some help please view my previous post about how to do a chain stitch. http://craftynowy.blogspot.com/2012/02/so-here-we-go-again.html

To Begin

First you will want to do a chain stitch I have complete a chain stitch of 12 (11 for my pattern plus one chain stitch).

After you complete the chain stitch you are going to insert your hook one stitch away from the needle. (seen below). You should have two loops on your hook now.

You will now yarn over your hook and pull through the first loop on your hook.

You should still have two loops on your hook.

You will now yarn over and pull through both loops on your hook.

You have just completed your first single crochet! YAY for you! You will want to repeat this process over and over until you get to the end of the chain stitch.

Once you reach the end of the single crochet line, you will chain one. You will always perform a chain one at the end of the line to turn the project over. You will begin from the first single crochet from the hook and repeat.

The first single crochet row can be a little bit challenging if your just beginning because there is not much to hold on to. Just take your time on the first row, as you progress it will get easier and easier. Believe me I have been crocheting on and off since I was 10. So don't give up just like anything else with practice comes perfection.

So here we go again.... (sigh)...

My previous posting got deleted... after somehow trying to edit it. Any Who.... Here we go again...

Here is a tutorial on the beloved

Chain Stitch ♥ ♥ !

The chain stitch is so important to crochet. It is one out of the many important stitches you will learn as a beginning crocheter. Not only is this used throughout most crochet patterns that you will have but it also will start most crochet patterns that you will use.

Im a righty so if your a lefty you will use the opposite hand.

You will begin doing a chain stitch by creating a slip knot. There are many ways you can approach a slip knot. This is just the way I feel most comfortable doing this.

First you will create a circle with the yarn as seen below.


You will fold your circle onto the pink piece labeled above.

You will next fold over the yarn onto the long part of the yarn. As labeled in pink as seen above.


Place crochet noodle under green piece above.

You will place your crochet needle underneath the green portion labeled above. Pull up until bottom portion is tight.... & .... Yay! you created a slipknot!


Put under...

And pull through, heres your slip knot!

Now you will start on your chain stitch.

Grab the crochet hook in your right hand, while using your left thumb and pointer finger to hold the tail of the slip knot you just made. You are going to yarn over by slightly turning your crochet needle and going over the yarn and using the hook to grasp (as seen below) and pull through the slip knot you just made.

Yarn Over

Pull through slip stitch

You will continue to yarn over and pull through the stitch until you've reached the desired amount of chain stitches in you pattern.


Keep Going

Keep chaining you end result will look a lot like the chain below!


Heres your chain stitch

Remember everybody crochets differently so find a way that you feel most comfortable with. It may take some time to get used to but its so important that you keep going!

I suggest using a larger crochet needle as well as a light weight cotton yarn. Its easier to maneuver and you can get used to the process of crocheting.

MY FIRST BLOG POST!

Happy Valentines Day fellow readers!

I decided to do my first post on my birthday and yes Valentines Day! I was a lucky girl to be born on such a cute holiday! (Thank you Mommy!)

Anyways sidetracked there a little bit... ;)

My first crochet heart so excited! Thanks to Bella Dia's super cute craft blog!

It was very easy and super fast to make. Cute project to add to any bags. I added a double crochet edging going around two times.

I used a size F crochet hook, and for the yarn I used Bernat Baby Jacquards Florals yarn.
