I would be just a bit nervous about unlocking it and then apple puts out an update that makes it unuseable. It was all done via hardware. His latest post (as of 2/8) claims to have an all software unlock hack, so if you can find an iphone w/o getting the service contract, you should be able to do it yourself. i'm downloading the hack as instructions are bundled in the .rar and am going to try and do a bit more research to see how much work is involved and check stability. do the same if you have time. just found this today.
