Girl Time

Last week I went out for some much needed girl time. I went to a bar/lounge in Z Hotel in Long Island City which is also where I spent the night. I was very nicely accommodated.

It was sort a belated birthday celebration for me from earlier in the month. There was a lot of drinking and dancing going on #goodtimes.

Betsey Johnson After Party Fall 2012

Hey! Hey! Making a quick post to check in. Things have been so busy lately and I feel very blessed.

Last week I hopped on over to the Betsy Johnson after party with my friend Mary. I met my friend Jasmin there from Vintage Vandalizm who was with some of her friends and we all had a blast!

Supreme x Kate Moss Spring 2012

Who's as excited for Supreme x Kate Moss Spring 2012 as I am?! I love walking down the streets of NYC and see the ads plastered all over the place.

I was looking forward to see what celebrity Supreme was going to feauture this season for their poster campaign. Some of my recent favorties have been Kermit and Ghostface killah (because I'm a big Wu-Tang Fan) It's nice to see them bring Kate Moss back after having worked with her in 2004. I believe I read somewhere their previous Kate Moss shirt was one of their best sellers... It's hard not to be smitten over something with Kate Moss's face plastered on it, She's such an icon.

Jeremy Scott Fall 2012

I was unable to attend Jeremy Scott Fall 2012 this season, but it was with great anitcipation that I followed via Twitter and other social networks.

I'm not going to give a very detailed review... I'm going to give a rather simple one instead.

My review of Jeremy Scott Fall 2012

Vibrant/Funky Colors- ✓
Cool cartoon or comic book tribute- ✓ (Bartman)
Sexiness all over- ✓
Awesome hair and makeup- ✓
A bit of a jaw dropper- ✓
Scandolous pieces I would wear in a heartbeat- ✓

Well that pretty much sums it up for me. Homer would be proud (hehe). There's a unicorn on a dress! A DAMN UNICORN. It's like Lisa Frank on shrooms exploded on the runway... Atleast I see some Lisa Frank-esque inspiration.

If someone gave me black Bartman outfit, (3rd photo) I would love you forever by the way #JustSayin.

I Ate His Heart

Well... That was pretty damn delicious.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Today I spent a day with a special someone who woke me up with a large ice coffee and a heart shaped donut.... I know what you're thinking, sounds like a keeper huh? Perhaps.

I went to the theater to see The Vow. I thought I'd walk out the theater with a magical feeling like I did with The Notebook... Sadly, that wasn't the case. The movie wasn't the worst thing ever but I wouldn't recommend it to be honest.

Nevertheless this didn't ruin my Valentines day for two reasons.

1. I spent it with someone I care about.

2. Everyday should be a day to celebrate love.

Sadly they seem to be sold out mostly everywhere. They have a cool old-school vibe to them and I'm digging the colors. I can imagine dressing these up in an urban/edgy ensemble *sigh...

Red Denim and Booties

In between working on things and running around, I had time to take some outfit shots! Fun stuff kiddies. I've been excited and thinking and February.

My Birthday is next Friday, February 3rd. I don't plan on doing anything big this year... don't know why, I guess I'm just caught up with life's trials and tribulations, a decent dinner will suffice.

On another note something I'm more excited about is doing my hair! As you can see my roots are growing in and I was thinking...I want to do all blonde just like I had before with colored tips. Remember my Teal/Greenish tips. Now I'm thinking about doing red or purple or blue... Honestly, I'm leaning towards RED.

Did you know I'm a dragon?! Well, a dragon baby, it that makes any sense. I found out not too long ago after finally sticking my head up from behind my laptop screen that we're back on the year of the dragon.

I always loved that I was born on the year of such a powerful creature ( No offense rabbits,sheep, rats, etc.) and it's considered the luckiest year of the Chinese Zodiac.

Fashion Week Survival Kit

Let the madness begin! You can never plan too early...

I love and hate covering New York Fashion Week #NYFW. A true love/hate relationship, you've probably heard tons of people utter those exact words. I mean, lets get serious... It's not even fashion week it's more like fashion month! Along the way however, you learn a lot about getting around. Here's some stuff I've found rather helpful and I feel will be good for the upcoming Fall 2012 shows.

New York Fashion Week Survival Kit

Coffee: Grab a nice big cup of coffee to kick your day off the right way. If you don't like coffee...
Emergen-C: Drink Emergen-C! Another great way to kick your day off and it can keep you from getting sick (which is the last thing you want to do), Yay vitamin C.
Camera: Bring a nice DSLR along to capture street-style and runway shows. Make sure its charged.
Memory Card: I would probably carry a few memory cards... I get real photo friendly fast.
Flats: Most of us have learned the hard way how essential it is to carry a pair of flats with you, DO IT! *words of wisdom*
Small Camcorder: This is more of an option but I like to carry one around. I take small clips and make videos to go along with my post sometimes.
A Nice Black Blazer: Every girl needs one, Duh.
iPhone Charger: I take it around with me everyday.
Over-sized Tote bag: I run around a lot. When I say run, I literally mean some-what sprinting. I need a bag that can fit a lot. The more the better. But still be fashionable.
Skinny Jeans: A nice pair of skinny jeans always come in handy. Especially if you're in a rush.
Moisturizer: Winter does horrible things to our skin. Look and feel good.
iPhone: This one is sort of obvious. However, a cool case will spice things up for NYFW.
Mist: Carry around a nice mist you can touch up with after a long day. Smell yummy.
Chapstick: I like Carmex and now I'm using Maybelline Baby Lips also. I can't have my lips getting super chapped with this cold weather.
USB Stick: I love my Mimobot USB stick. They're adorable and useful.
Flashy of Classy Scarf: Makes a nice accessory for February.
Comfortable Wedges: For petite girls like myself, this adds height and comfort. I like to feel tall sometimes and I like shoes I can wear all day.
Faux Fur: Just incorporate it somehow. I could be a vest, jacket, scarf.. whatever. JUST DO IT. It makes outfits prettier.
Gloves: Once my hands are cold my whole body gets cold. Don't forget your gloves! Your day will be busy and stressful enough, you don't have to be cold also.
Shoe inserts: They always come in handy. I have "city feet" I walk REALLY FAST. These help out.
Statement Jewelry: It's fashion week girl! Live a little. Go big or go home.
Headphones: These come in handy for those Subway rides. Also, Sometimes you might need some motivation music when you're feeling a bit drained.
Water Bottle: Stay hydrated! Most times you can find water at venues however.Your call.
A Notebook: Sometimes I like to write stuff down on paper instead on electronic devices. Get a notebook that won't take too much space.
Sunglasses: I like wearing shades during the day in the winter. Great NYFW accessory.
Altoids: It will be a long day, No one likes bad breath.

These are some items I thought were essential. One thing I'd like to add is some sort of snack, like a Luna bar... Its hard to find lunch breaks.

Woah, an outfit post?

I know, I know, unfortunately for me lately those have sort of been few and far between. Not because I'm not dressed incredible cute (duh), BUT because I don't have anyone to take my photos sometimes and I've been spending a lot of time working and getting my creative juices flowing!

On another note, TGIF! I'm thinking of having one of those "stay in Netflix nights"... For those of you who know me that might be quite the shocker, but I'm trying out this whole "refresh/revive my body" thing for a few days... you'll probably get to read about it on the blog.

Tibi Collection

Last week I was invited to the Tibi showroom to view their most recent collection. As some of you may know, I LOVE Tibi. I've been following this line for quite some time and I've been more than pleased with it's growth and changes.

Pre-Fall 2012:

In this collection, I notice edgier looks than the previous. Edgier and more bold silhouettes/details is the direction I notice the Tibi line is heading in, in general. This leaves me rather anxious and excited to follow more. While change is good, I'm glad they've kept using bold prints which they've always been so popular for.

The third top above with the collar is one of my favorites.

This piece reminds me of a varsity jacket (which have been ever so trendy). They're absolutely gorgeous and look incredibly warm.

You also have the option to remove the zipper which is fun. I always appreciate clothing with options.

Here we have these ravishing gowns. I can't quite figure out what I'm infatuated with more... The colors or the cut-out in the back.

This is probably another one of my favorite tops. The leather collar wins me over. Can you picture it? This top, a mini skirt and leather ankle booties = Nubia's sold.

The sheer tops below remind me a bit of clueless. I was actually commenting about that with one of the lovely ladies in the showroom and how I would still rock these with knee-highs and a cute pair of Mary Janes.

Summer 2012

Fun colors and comfortable garments. There is something here for every occasion.

I found these dresses to be my favorite is this collection. While I usually don't learn towards boxy silhouettes, I like the buttons. It reminds me of something Japanese inspired or Legos or even button candy.

Sushi Lovers?

Last year while I was roaming the aisles of the New York Comic Con like an excited little child in ~~hoochie~~ cosplay attire, I bumped into Stuffed Sushi. KAWAII!

Can you imagine, I was in utter awe. My eyes widened and got real glossy and teary with joy like a cute anime character. Sushi pillows? NO WAY! Such a simple creation can literally bring a kool-aid smile upon my face, I'm one of those people. I'm a hard core sushi eater, you know... The one that's always trying to make her friends try different rolls and then calls them lame when they don't. That's me!

Here's a description pulled from the site:

My Week with Marilyn Review

A few days ago I made a trip to the theater to watch "My Week with Marilyn" Why not? I've always been a huge fan of the iconic Ms. Monroe. When I was a little girl, my father used to work at CBS and would come home with tons of Marilyn memorabilia. Needless to say growing up I looked up to her and her effortless charm.

At first, I wasn't fond of the idea of Michelle Williams playing Marilyn... I was actually downright upset about it. I like Michelle Williams (and she is pretty) but she doesn't have the classic Hollywood beauty Marilyn once obtained. Perhaps I was being a bit vain, but can you blame me? It seems like Marilyn's image has been engraved into so many peoples mind in a certain way. I almost wished it was someone that looked like Gwen Stefani but had Williams acting skills. In all honestly Michelle Williams did a fabulous job playing Marilyn's role. She captured her spirit from her flirty ways to her shyness to her very recognized way of speaking. Willam's performance has award potential.

This movie is about Marilyn and 23 year old Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne). Mr Clark was trying to break into the film business and worked as a 3rd assistant on the set of "The Prince and the Showgirl". He eventually became a big comfort to Marilyn after she was getting a hard time from her very famous co-star Sir Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) who was more of a traditional actor. Colin Clarke began escorting Ms. Monroe and eventually falls in love with her, even after being warned several times what a heart breaker she was. I don't want to give too much but it's an interesting and rather innocent romance... You'll have to watch the film to know more.

One thing that caught my eye that I wanted to discuss here on my blog because I know how many young ladies read is: Marilyn's need to escape herself.

How many of you have identity crisis? Pshh, I know I always have and probably still do. The endless need to not only find yourself, but then like what you find. I almost felt bad for Marilyn. So beautiful and so loved by the world but she always needed to be on some sort of pill to relax herself. It's sad. It sort of reminded me of a beautiful, wild creature full of life, but put behind a cage. She always seemed to be looking for everyone's approval and any negative criticism would drive her mad and get her depressed. I find it interesting that even someone who was considered "The worlds most beautiful woman" had such messed up issues. So much pressure.

So just remember: You only have one life, live it for you. Don't always go around looking for strangers approvals, work and be content with yourself. We are all beautiful and talented in our own different ways. Always let your inner star shine.

Evolve Electric Motorcycles

Yesterday I swung by the Evolve Electric Motorcycles showroom with Jessica and Christina. I had an awesome time with these ladies chit-chatting and talking about the trials and tribulations of life.

I realized sometimes, I feel the need to take a break from the fashion universe... not that I don't love it immensely, but it's refreshing to do unrelated activities that allow the brain to unwind.

We got to test drive the bikes and it was so much fun! To be completely honest I was a nervous wreck haha, I only rode it for 2 blocks. In my defense on my way back I did a lot better. It's like riding a regular bicycle almost , it's easy and you just have to get used to the balance.

Evolve Motorcycles are 100% electric which means no gas and no oil. They're very convenient, all you need to charge the bike is an outlet and you're good to go. A single charge can take you through all the 5 boroughs in NYC.

My father used to own a few motorcycles and I always admired them. They're beautiful and offer a certain sense of liberation I can't really put into words. I'd love to be riding one of these all around town during Spring/Summer. Might be something to look forward to.

Mud Make-up Designory Class

Saturday afternoon I headed over to MUD Make-up Designory to take a class by make-up artist Jen Lombardo. It was a pretty basic class and I wanted to share a few small tips with you all. I literally took my notes and copied and pasted them here so they aren't in any particular order.

I know a lot of you have asked me questions about my make-up in the past but I pretty much taught myself. If you have any particular question, feel free to ask and I'll answer it to the best of my knowledge or personal experience.

Make-up Tips:

Get a color wheel and study it.. Learn whats cold and warm.

Face

Make sure to always moisturize before foundation.
Use highlighter very high on your cheek bone, imagine where the sun would hit your cheek.
Contour darker from ear tragus and leave 2 fingers from lip to not look to sunken in.
Contour in the shape of a 3 (matte not shimmery).
Throw blush on apple of the cheek(round part) cream tends to be better than powder.
Make sure to double check your T zone hot spots (shape of T on face) for oil and retouching.
Brush brows to look organized in one direction...

Eyes

Highlight inner corner of eye if dark.
Roll brush to fix creases under eyes, don't dab it!
Curl eye lashes..makes lashes look longer, fuller and eye more open. Curl twice if needed. Curl at root and then at center.
Primer or base eyes. Use light color on lid.
Blend dark color in crease of eye (windshield wiper movement).
More mascara at the tip than the root of the lash.
Mascara on bottom might attract darkness but can also attract more definition.

Lips

Lip tip: dab on with finger.. Fix corners with brush if needed.
Do lip line like a sketch... Start from outer corners and then work your way in.
**Remember when choosing makeup it's all about balance.. If you're wearing a crazy dress do neutral makeup.

Happy New Year!

The New Year is always quite refreshing. Making your resolutions, eating your 12 grapes, maybe you even got to kiss that special someone or a random stranger at midnight. Whichever it was for you, New Years always has an intense energy about it, pleasant or not.

This New Year surprisingly I didn't make any official resolutions. Sure I do have a set list of goals in the back of my head, but I didn't label them as "2012 resolutions" like many do...I felt like I'd be jinxing myself. I do however have one thought that I wanted to share with everyone and I encourage you to pass this along.

Be a tough, smart, educated, beautiful, bad ass woman!

Seriously. That's my only thing that really crossed my mind. We are all going to have success in different places, failure in others, and sometimes we'll decide it's time to move on from certain places. Don't let any of it phase you. Don't sweat the little things. Don't waste time. Be productive and your life will change.

In honor of my whole be a "bad ass woman" mini speech, I decided to gather the photos below for some symbolism.... GUNS. Suave Keratin Infusion

About a week or 2 ago I was sent a Suave Keratin Infusion Shampoo, Conditioner, and Smooth and Shine Serum. I'm often experimenting with different shampoo's, but I grew up buying Suave so this was kind of special. It's always been extremely affordable, Sometimes as low as a dollar... and it's never steered me wrong. Might have not been the best shampoo ever back in the day, but it got the job done. However.....

Suave Keratin Infusion is awesome! Seriously, I mean it. It's one of my favorite shampoo/conditioners of the moment and I like it a lot more than prior Suave products I've tried. Here are a few quick reasons I like it.

It's a regular to apply shampoo and conditioner and it happens to smell very good.
It helps calm down the frizz in my hair.
I don't need to use a styler on it the next morning or a curler if I don't want to. Even if I let it air dry it comes out very nice which is a lot more than I can say for other shampoo/conditioners.

Not to mention it has Keratin which we all know is very pricey at salons. There will be an Intense Keratin treatment kit from Suave available at stores also and I hear it's less than $20 dollars, which is a steal!

Before/After

My hair is thick and wavy and difficult to work with. I've dyed it so many times, it's definitely mistreated. I love the results Suave Keratin Infusion had on my hair. You don't even have to believe me! The shampoo and conditioner is going to be sold for about $3 dollars each, you should just go and try it out yourself.
