Hello Nubians,

Isn't tropical life immensely appealing? While I was on vacation I couldn't help people watching all the time and everyone seems so much more clam, relaxed and happy! Something about the tropical ambient just makes life seem better... it's almost addicting. The sun, the beautiful blue clear water, the fresh fruits and beautiful flowers everywhere you turn *Sigh*. In conclusion to this little rant I would gladly have an early retirement in the Bahamas or Turks.

Fringe and Hallways.

Hello Nubians,

As some of you may know I recently went on vacation and C'MON GIRLFRENDS, who doesn't take outfit post with their friends in hotel hallways? It's like an unwritten rule. Anyway, the ladies and myself were heading out to a club/lounge to enjoy a few drinks, chat with some people, and walk around the boat.

I made it a principle for myself to remain comfortable on this trip which is why I wore my Prabal Gurung for Target little red wedges, they're a go-to shoe for me. Being comfortable made my trip a little more stress free I'd say. Also, when in doubt or in a rush... also go with a little black dress (LBD) and you can't go wrong. I wore this amazing leather fringe jacket that my friend Jasmin from Vintage Vandalizm gifted me with after I told her I was on the hunt for one! Isn't she the sweetest =)

Funny thing about this post title... I didn't actually go to any festival but if I did, I would wear something similar to this.

I love wearing cute and comfortable outfits. The pants are pretty damn awesome... I ~~stole~~ borrowed them from my mother once upon a time and just forgot to ever give them back hehe. I love the pattern on the pants and they're so light I almost feel like I'm naked. A nice fringe top by gla.MAR.ous is such a Summer staple. The Yumnah Najah earrings I'm wearing always seem to give an outfit what it's missing, you can find them HERE. Lastly, I'm wearing small Prabal Gurung for Target wedges that are insanely comfortable.

The Make-up details here are pretty basic. A cat eye I created using a L'oreal liner and red lips from Revlon. My only regret here is not grooming my eyebrows a bit more but I was probably in a rush or something.

The French Manicure.

Yesterday I went to Wall Street to visit Duane Reade. I actually love getting my nails done there! Strange right? You wouldn't think of Duane Reade as a place to get your nails done but it's AWESOME and I prefer it to a lot of nail salons I've been to. If you happen to visit, you should get them done by Siokoey, she's a sweety!

Anyway, I usually lean towards fun, colorful and crazy designs but decided to go with a simple french manicure this time. Did you know Manicures are about 5,000 years old and that french manicures specifically were used in Paris and very popular during the 1920's and 1930's? This is what Wikipedia does to me. It simply looks classy and very polished to me... I needed a change.

I got Gel Extensions for the first time ever. I'm curious to find out how long they last and if I like them more than acrylic. Most people say Gel is way healthier than acrylic but other beg to differ. I hope they are better for 2 reasons... 1) I don't want my nails getting those annoying dents like they did with acrylic and 2) They are about double the price of acrylic.

I plan to keep these for a while and then go back to my colorful and vibrant ways. I decided to go with the square shape because I was growing a bit tired of the super pointy cat shape already.

I do have one piece of advice to give when it comes to nails...

Keep them polished! I don't care what color, if they're real or not, it does not matter just keep them polished! Don't bite them either! Fight your nail biting demons. It may shock you the amount of times people look at your hands and when they look sloppy you look sloppy #JustKeepinItReal. If you work in an office all day that's A LOT. Do you shake hands? Do you hand money to people when you pay for something? I didn't used to care so much but as I get older I care more and more.

I have to run but before I do... What your favorite nail trend? Color or shape.

Hello Nubians,

First and foremost, hope you like the NEW site layout and banner. Simple yet still hectic enough to be me. Thanks to my lovely brother for all his help and having the patience to deal with me. I'm super excited to be making better quality videos this year... ya know... with a good camera and lights and not all on my iPhone haha.

I just got back from vacation and I'm feeling inspired and ready to make changes. I always struggle with inspiration and getting bored constantly but I think I'm starting to wrap my head around certain things and finding ways to stay passionate... It's tough. One thing I did notice however is how much I needed a freaking vacation! Oh my goodness, I am such a workaholic and over achiever that I didn't even realize I haven't taken a vacation since 2010. I went on a cruise to a few islands with 2 girlfriends and had a blast. When I'm done uploading my photos you will surely see some on here and stories.

Below is a very basic outfit of mine. Transitioning into a warmer Spring season can be tricky. You'll see some popular trends I gravitate towards here such as florals, lennon shades, bright colors, hair braids... slowly but surely I'm pulling out all the goods.

Wearing: Uniqlo floral pants, Dolce Vita wedges, Old Navy denim jacket, Vintage inspired camera bag, Jewelry from street vendor.

Some style goals of mine this Spring/Summer are...

1) To mess around with my hair more (colors are styles)
2) To sport more accessories (cooler earrings, necklaces, shades, etc.)

French Connection Clothing.

Hello Nubians,

Last week I was invited to the French Connection store on West Broadway for their Spring Nail Art Event featuring Ginger + Liz. There was bubbly going around and 25% off clothing.

To be honest I haven't been to French Connection in a long time so I wasn't very familiar with their current collection. I used to love rocking the tees with their signature FCUK logo once upon a time. As I strolled around the store I was quite pleased. The clothing was a little more grown and mature than I remember it being which was awesome because it caters to my taste now.

In the photo above you see some details I was fond of. So much patterns and glitz and sequins... it was HEAVENLY. My favorite dress in the whole store was the one on the lower right hand of this collage, It's short light pink with sequins and sexy as hell!! A++ in my book. The dress on the upper left hand side draws me in a bit as well because it sort of reminds me of how the NYC streets look (gravel) in a good way.

The sweater with the parrots was super cute and I was diggin the pink tones all over the store. There was definitely a lot of covetable pieces... For a social media wiz kid as myself there was even accessories for my gadgets! Always a perk.

The shoes on the lower left side are my favorite in the store. The chunky heel makes them look very comfortable and I could picture myself rocking them with some short denim shorts and a cute blouse. I'm also digging the flatforms... YES I do like flatforms haha do you?

Peep this lovely PR gal above rocking this bad ass top. It almost looks like paint chips or a piece I could imagine David Bowie wearing. Such an "it" piece.

Lastly while I was strolling around I was treated to this sweet manicure with Ginger + Liz polish. It was based off one of the prints from the collection, Tres chic!

At the end I had a lovely time and I'm looking forward to seeing more French Collection soon and owning some pieces. Cheers darlings!

So Much Transition... Fashion and Life.

Hello Nubians,

Early Spring is still so transitional brrrrrr it's still cold! I'll tell you one thing though, when I hear Spring knocking, I automatically want to do all sorts of braids. I NEVER want to braid my hair in the winter for some reason... Is that strange? Anyway, lighter/shorter jackets, different colors, sunglasses, it's good times.

I've been transitioning in my life a bit too lately... Maybe that's why I haven't been blogging as much the last 2 months or so. I've been working on a lot of social media stuff and even though its fun stuff, I'd be lying if I didn't say my brain is feeling like its starting to fry.

Ever want to NOT turn on your computer at all but still find yourself doing it? Sick I tell ya! Sickkk.
I guess what I'm getting at here is that my inspiration has been sucked a little dry lately... I guess it's like some sort of writers block or motivation block.

A lot has changed for me over the past year. 2012 was kind of crazy and 2013 has been flying by and it freaks me out. I have so much I want to do but those little hands on the clock are KILLER (hate those guys).

Further more, what else can I say? I'm looking forward to shopping for some spring-like clothing soon. I'm feeling like the 90s with a mix of Harujuku girls this season. Makeup wise I've been using all sorts of color as my under eyeliner (especially green and purple because they make my light browns pop) and lets not forget braids! All types of pretty braids.

I'm on my way to work right now writing this blog entry on the notepad on my iPhone which I will later email to myself and copy and paste on to blogger and BOOM, post! Just passed Lexington ave and heading down to Prince st.

Oh, by the way, Did I mention NubiasNonsense is having a small makeover soon?

New Hair Color

Hello Nubians,

Just thought I'd share this quick change with you! This is my new hair color. I'm slowly trying to work my way back to blonde and since I was SOOOOO stubborn (as-per-usual), I didn't listen to anyone when they told me my crazy red would be so hard to get rid of.

The color is growing on me however. It's kind of a bit Carrot Top-ish for my personal taste but I'm getting used to it more and more as the days go by. I'm hoping to be blonde by the Summer time so I can play around with all sort of temporary colors in my hair!

My Awesome Birthday!

Hello Nubians,

I never got to tell you about my birthday, did I? Well that's probably because it was the weekend before New York Fashion Week (February 3rd) and I was super busy working with the rad people over at MILK Studios for MADE Fashion Week so here we go...

I have to say, I think it may have been the best birthday I've had in YEARS. Something about having an intimate get together after so many years of lounging and clubbing and going crazy like some sort of very untamed night crawler was extremely soothing and much needed.

My friend Mary and I were talking one day and I told here I wanted to have a fun themed birthday party so we decided on Candy Land. She was more than happy to help me put the whole thing together and she did ALL the cooking (which was Delish!). I almost felt like calling her Master Chef Mar because she totally out did her self. We had buffalo chicken dip, 7 layer dip, turkey sausage sandwiches with peppers and onions, french fries, all sorts of chips, ice cream cone cup cakes and endless amounts of candy... it was AWESOME.

I also mentioned I wanted to do sort of a DIY photo booth and well, as you can see below that was brought to life and very much enjoyable. We purchased props and everyone was bugging out and having a great time. Lots of beers, whiskey shots, cotton candy vodka and good times. It was so nice seeing a lot of friends I haven't seen in a while and you may even recognize 2 of my close friends I met through blogging who came Tineey and Jasmin. BTW Jasmin did my super cute bangs! Somewhere throughout the night there was an intense game of Flip cup where of course my team was victorious haha.

Prabal Gurung for Target

Hello Nubian Queens and Kings,

I'd like to start off by saying that Prabal Gurung for Target is a pretty sweet deal. I walked into my local target in Queens and they had a very nice selection. Lots of floral pieces and nice neon colors... definitely a few pieces you can easily fall in love with and be smitten over.

This wasn't really the reason I went to Target however, it just happened to catch my eye. Though the clothing was indeed beautiful, I decided to pass on it for now. I already saw so many people I know taking pictures of their purchases already that I decided to stray away for now.

What I couldn't walk away from was this sexy red little wedges. I plan to go back to bleach blonde soon and whenever I do, I usually wear lots of red. The first thing that attracted me about these bad boys is the ankle strap.. I've been all about looking for ankle strap shoes lately... they make your leg shape look so much better in my opinion. Also, they have a small wedge that I really like because it adds a little bit of height and is also comfortable.

At $30.00 these shoes were the ultimate bargain... I almost felt like I robbed them haha. I tested them also and they are crazy comfortable. Thumbs up on my end.

I was almost ready to walk out when I saw this necklace. The colorful flowers immediately caught my eye and it quickly became a no-brainer when I saw it was on sale! It was marked down from $40.00 down to $10.00.

With that being said, I am very pleased with my 2 purchases and I am so crazy eager for a little warm weather here in NYC.

Hello Nubians,

Spring time is almost here! How refreshing. I think pretty much any New Yorker can tell you how damn tired they are of Winter at this point... It's been FREEZING.

I find myself day dreaming of days with cardigans as my warmest piece of outerwear, knee-high socks, little skirts I can twirl around with in the middle of a grass field as the sun beams in my face... sigh.

On another note, my month of February was extremely busy. As much as I do love to work and do anything related with fashion/being creative, I am a human and I do get tired. I wrapped up my project with Diet Coke and work for Fashion Week with Milk Studios also. It was all a lot of FUN but barely gave me anytime to blog so I'm glad to be back to my BABY AKA blog.

I think I had to shake off this case of the blogging blues which is why I'm happy my friend Tineey came over and styled me! It was all kind of unplanned haha and worked out. She knows how playful and colorful my style is and she just so happened to have some pieces she thought I'd look awesome in. Let me tell you guys something... You should all have a friend style you every so often just because it's fun and refreshing to let someone else decide what you're wearing... You could even make cute girl dates out of it =).

Costello Tagilapietra F/W 13

Oh, You Fancy, Huh?

I attended the Costello Taglia F/W 13 presentation and it was very pleasing to my eye. I very much enjoyed the rich colors and detailed floral prints I saw making their way down the runway.

I'm a big fan of a sexy V neck and there was plenty of that going around. There was also an equally appealing amount of draping in the variety of the pieces .. When draping is done right as it was in this collection, it adds such class to the item.

Even though the whole collection isn't really my aesthetic in a way where I feel that it caters to the more traditional business woman attire, I would ABSOLUTELY love to have some of these pieces for a dinner date or to add a bit of edge to with some leather or faux fur. I can see myself taking something from this collection and styling it a lot different than seen on the runway.

I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how it is form fitting and enhances the lady figure. I have curves and I adore them! Clothing that shows them off in a graceful manner is always well accepted by me.

Here is a photo I snapped backstage before the show. The makeup on the models mainly focused on the lips as they were neon colored and the rest of the face was very light with a minimal amount of eye liner.

Shoe Haven: Tabitha Simmons

It's not very often that I see a collection and can honestly say I would wear everything in it...

I attended the Tabitha Simmons F/W 13 presentation during MADE Fashion week and I felt like a kid at a candy shop, I WANTED EVERYTHING!

This British stylist turned shoe designer is truly a master at her craft. The pointy heel made a comeback this year and it seems like it isn't going anywhere. Frankly, I'm happy about it... I enjoy the pointy heel. The collection is most certainly appealing to the eye with eye popping colors, glitter, leopard prints and even holographic prints! So much fun and VERY NubiasNonsense style if I do say so myself, wouldn't mind getting my hands on a pair of shiny pointy toed flats.

The collection is SEXY and very wearable with a pleasant amount of variety. It's not wonder Tabitha Simmons has created such a following... her shoes make the outfit.

There was British Candy at the presentation! What a personal touch.

Red Dress Fashion Show Collection 2013

Hello Nubians,

I was furtunate enough to be attend the Red Dress Collection^SM Fashion show this year being that I have been one of the Blog Ambassadors. I have to say, it has been quite the honor for me to participate and promote for such an amazing cause... I mean this in total sincerity. I haven't always been the healthiest person in my life and it's interesting to hear such heartbreaking and inspiring stories at the same time that have had the ability to change peoples lives.

The runway show was so much fun! I walked in and was overwhelmed by how much red their was everywhere and the crazy attention to detail, truly beautiful. I got to see and hang out with a lot of my blogger friends which is also a lot of fun.

Celebrities that walked the runway were Minka Kelly, The Jenner Clan (Kylie, Kendall and Kris), Jillian Michaels, Kelly Osbourne, Jamie Chung, Gabby Douglas, Nastia Liukin, Brenda Strong, Savannah Guthrie, Toni Braxton, Wendy Williams and Soledad O'Brien. They all seemed so happy to be participating and be part of something so magical. They were bonding, it was like a sisterhood! So much POWER and STRENGTH in the room.

Diamonds are a girls best friend...

I have been meaning to post about jewelry for a while now. I've always been a costume jewelry kind of girl but diamonds are forever right? They're the kind of accessory you can pass down to your future children and can keep being passed down for generations... The thought is pleasant Being that Valentines day is coming up, I thought it was the perfect time to post this. I was happy to come across this website Anjolee that features diamonds.

When it comes to diamonds I love statement pieces - I believe diamonds should be worn with a classic touch. I don't really like diamond sets because I feel as one diamond is enough to sparkle up any room. I also think diamonds should be worn mainly for special occasions but if you have pretty delicate pieces you can wear them often, Ex: diamond studs. A bangle bracelet or a simple diamond pendant would also be good on various occasions to enhance your look.

To accessorize your winter wardrobe with diamonds I would pick a necklace or earrings. Diamond earrings are a staple in any girls jewelry collection so I would wear them with a pretty cocktail dress and have my neckline bare and complete the look with my hair up. When it comes to diamonds unless its an engagement ring, earrings or a necklace will do for me.

I could already imagine how much fun it's going to be. Fun fact: My favorite color is red and today happens to be NATIONAL WEAR RED DAY!

Beehive Hair

Hello beautiful Nubians,

One hair style I'd like to bring back a bit (at least back into my life) is the beehive. I feel like it's such a classic look. You don't even have to be that dressed up and it makes outfits and a whole ensemble look more refined.

Luckily I have thick hair which means it takes me about 5 minutes to get my hair to look like this. If your hair is thin you would have to tease it a lot with spray or perhaps use a bumpit. The late great Amy Winehouse always sported it so well.

I have some really cool and exciting news for you. I am one of the bloggers selected to be part of Diet Cokes The Heart Truth^® campaign from now till the end of February.

I am and have always been happy to use my power and resources as a blogger for the greater good. This is Diet Coke's 6th year as a passionate supporter of the The Heart Truth^® campaign, led by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). The Heart Truth^® campaign raises awareness and support for women’s heart health programs. Hello Nubians,

Last week I went to Barnes and Nobles with a friend and bumped into a few David Bowie books. It refreshed my memory on what a damn style icon he used to be. He looked borderline insane sometimes but it was inspiring and started plenty of trends.

The reason I'm bringing this up is because I think this year I'm going to be in search of something a bit new. I want to create something new and fresh and not just keep repeating trends over and over. Not to say that there's anything wrong with repeating trends, but I need more this year. A man like David Bowie can def serve as motivation. Sure some things are more like costumes, but that doesn't mean you can't incorporate bits and pieces into your everyday outfits. I want to be loud at times, a bit over the top, over accessorized and I won't give a ~~fuck~~ who criticizes. Wooohoooo.

Hello Nubians,

Do you guys know I LOVE Freddy Krueger? I used to very much enjoy watching horror films as a young child and Freddy was absolutely my favorite. I think I love Freddy because, and I know this sounds kind of sick but let's remember this is a fictional movie haha HE ALWAYS LOOKED LIKE HE WAS HAVING DO MUCH FUN. It always set him aside from the other popular horror movies characters like Jason or Mike Meyers.

My brother Danny gave me this Freddy Krueger tee for Christmas. The art of the shirt is pretty rad, it's by Alex Pardee.

Getting Ready for Prom with NubiasNonsense

Hello my beautiful Nubians,

I didn't do it up so much at my prom so when I heard about Prom Girl's Annual Fashion Show Extravaganza you could imagine my utter excitement. Over a coffee date with Tineey we were talking about Prom and decided to do this fun "Getting Ready For Prom" project together. We thought it was a fun way to do something fun and useful for our readers while getting to relive prom at the same time! I went to the Prom Girl Soiree event and it made me think back to my prom and how I didn't care much about getting ready back then, which made me feel inspired to do this.

Make sure to watch both of our videos as we walk you through hair, make-up and the whole getting ready process! You may not feel this way now, ~~I know I didn't care one bit about prom when I was a teenager~~ but TRUST ME, you will value the memories in the future... I wish I had more.

Outfit: I wore "Primavera" thanks to Prom Girl. I was immediatly attracted to the beauty in the details and exposed back.

Such cute gift bags! Always wear your invisible Crown.

Doesn't Tineey look like such a hottie in her dress?! A lovely decision and her behalf and great color.

Pretty models in their prom dresses backstage and tons of candy! My talented friend Lacee Swan was also doing live illustration of the guest at the show.

Gifs are so much fun haha! Love these. We were enjoying this night and being silly hot babes.

I had a nice time and got to relive prom again! It was a fab night indeed.

Revlon - Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Review

A few weeks ago I walked into a drugstore and purchased 2 Revlon "Just Bitten Kissable" Balm Stains. I fell IN LOVE with them and felt the need to share my experience with you. I have tried other lipstains before but wasn't fully satisfied with their long term wear.

Color: Adore Adoree 055

I was looking for a medium toned color. Dark, but not quite there yet. This has become one of my favorite colors to wear. It compliments my skin tone and last a hours without retouching. Even when I don't retouch the color never fully fades it just gets a bit lighter... I like the thought of feeling like I never have a naked lip.

Color: Crush Beguin 005

Dark and seductive, I've definitely been rocking this color when I feel a bit feisty... it's SEXY. A great color to add to your makeup collection for winter and its durable. The pigmentation is lovely.

Reasons you may want to try this product:

Unlike a lot of lipstains which are usually drying, this is a balm stain which is excellent for "Winter dry lips". It keeps my lips pretty and moisturized.
The tip on the balm stain reminds me of a Crayola! You can check it out HERE. I find it easier to apply this way.
They have 12 pretty shades available at only $8.99
The pigmentation is good.
The balms are retractable, goodbye sharpener!
I wouldn't recommend something I didn't really enjoy.
