Well, it’s been a long time coming (to say the least) but the Skullcandy Aviator headphones are finally available in the UK. These are probably the most sought after headphones Skullcandy have ever produced and rightly so, they are HOT! Gone are the grungy aesthetics the brand is known for, instead these look more like something out of a Scandinavian design magazine with their sleek outline and elegant minimalism across the three available colours: white, black, and brown.

The Aviators are a high end product featuring large 40mm drivers that back up the good looks, avguide.com had this to say “A brief listen suggested to me that the Aviator is, as advertised, an audiophile-grade headphone that should offer healthy competition for Monster Cable’s almost identically priced Beats by Dre Solo headphones.”

All three colours are up for pre-order and shipping in March.

Anyone out there that lives in a city without a skatepark needs to watch the videos below of the amazing parks being built by Maverick Industries around the UK. …Apple’s design and graphics are second to none and this may be the biggest mistake they have ever made (even worse than the G4 Cube?!) That kid is clearly pushing mongo (back foot on the board, front foot pushing), which is seriously uncool both aesthetically and functionally. For all you kids out there that push mongo, and many people do when they start skating, you need to sort it out AND QUICK. No decent skaters push mongo, if you want to be a rubbish skater for ever then keep it up but if you want to progress the first step is learning to push properly, until you can do that pretty please stop trying to ollie and kickflip, I’m begging you!

Apple, you have let me and millions of other skaters down, please fix this photo!

1998 is a particularly interesting year for me cause I left school in ’97 and a year later got a job in The White Room, Swansea’s best skate shop back then. There was no heating, it was dusty, we sometimes didn’t see a customer for days on end but there was a big disgusting sofa, always skate videos on the TV and magazines on the counter, skaters were very loyal to The White Room. Back then there was no internet to speak of, I’d only ever seen it once in school and there was certainly no skate stuff on it, locals picked their shop and they got everything they needed from there regardless of whether it was exactly what they wanted or not.

A fine example of this was the day when I absolutely had to have a new pair of shoes or I couldn’t skate, the only ones we had in my size were the éS Rocket (pictured below), I absolutely hated how they looked but going to a different shop was out of the question so I settled for them. To this day I still tell people about the best skate shoes I ever had, the éS Rocket! No matter what they looked like they were awesome, without a doubt the comfiest shoes I’ve ever worn and they just lasted for ever which was a bonus because I was going through a deck every 2 weeks back then.
