Now without Mick McCarthy and their managerial hunt turning into a total mess it’s a great chance for the Toon to bounce back and build momentum.

Team Form

3 Wins in the last 5 for the Toon Army and two losses where we have conceded 5 goals shows the odd form of Newcastle lately. Luckily for us no one around the European spots has been able to get a run of form, leaving us 6th and only 1 point off both Arsenal and Chelsea.

With 3 clean sheets in the last 6 games and finding the back of the net in 5 of those, with players on the return we should be looking for a home win this weekend.

1 win in 5 league games

Newcastle were out thought, outfought and outplayed on a chilly night in North London as a good week for Harry Redknapp got even better. A clinical performance from Spurs saw them enhance their credentials as title contenders, but a lacklustre Newcastle United made things very easy for them indeed.

The worst possible start

It was a match that everyone was looking forward to, even the neutral. On the back of a workmanlike victory against Villa, and our fantastic season so far, there was always the chance that we could get something. Despite being lightweight in midfield, the goal threat we possess and a relatively solid back 5, if Newcastle performed to their best there was the chance of leaving London with something. Sadly this was not to be. There was fire in the bellies of the Spurs side from the off, Redknapp clearly had them fired up, they were unstoppable. 2 down

Let’s cut to the chase, this is a very big game for Newcastle. So far February has been a good month for the Toon, 2 wins in 2 games. You could probably make a cheap soap opera based on the Aston Villa match. The return of Ba and the arrival of Cisse were obvious talking points and it was nothing short of a ‘fairytale’ story in the north east.

Tottenham have been flying high this season, but their recent form hasn’t been the best (1 win in 4 games) and they’ve slipped away from the Premier League leaders. However they are still comfortably the 3rd best team in England right now and will be favourites for this match.

Tottenham Team News

Whack! Smash! Goal! Papiss Demba Cisse has arrived. The Toon army edge a victory against the Villains thanks to the partnership of Ba and Cisse and an, as always, spirited Newcastle defence. What a strike as well, good enough to decide any game and keeps us in the group of teams pushing for a European place for next season.

An Open Injury filled half

The game started very open with both sides finding their feet but the half was dominated by injuries to Newcastle players. First Leon Best had a shot blocked and couldn’t continue and then Ryan Taylor was clipped in the box landing badly with bruising to his leg. This meant for an early introduction to our latest signing, Cisse, who looked to fit into the side straight away.

Aston Villa could have taken the lead but for some wasteful finishing from Bent and great saves for the other two chances

We have no worries of going into economic troubles with him as our owner. Some media outfits also think with our current standing he has done a good job.

Mike Ashley has done some controversial things but running a football club is a hard job, we are all clueless when it comes to it! Most of us wouldn't know what to do, myself included. It is completely different to the “very realistic” Football Manager game where you can complete negotiations in a matter of seconds.

We wouldn't tell a surgeon what to do because we don't know anything about dealing with diseases so why would we tell club owner how to lead a football club as we have no idea how

After a sticky last few games, we come to face Aston Villa at home which is a game we should be targeting to win. We played poorly against Blackburn but got the three points which was all that matters.

They have had an average season to now, being knocked out of the FA Cup by Arsenal after leading 2-0 was a blow to them, similar to the one we received at Fulham. Their fans are not happy with Alex McLeish, so surely this tells us something about their style of play.

A win against Villa would take us joint on points with Chelsea. Who would have thought that at the start of the year? It is also refreshing to hear Pardew talking about the fourth position. It’s unlikely we will finish there but at least we

It's clear that, despite a few controversial moves along the way, Ashley's approach is paying dividends, with United's younger squad performing well on the pitch so far.

This 'younger, cheaper, better' mantra has not only served Newcastle well on the pitch, but also at a financial level. Relegation to the Championship struck a blow to the club's bank books, and Ashley has since attempted redress the balance by bumping high-paid, elder stars like Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton off the wage bill.

Ironically this, only serves

What looked a tough away fixture after a recent upturn in form for the home side was well navigated by Pardew’s men however the boys didn’t have it all their own way.

Match Moments

The Mags had to line up without Yohan Cabaye after what can only be described as a controversial decision by the FA to uphold his three match ban. However it didn’t seem to have too much of an impact when Ryan Taylor’s shot deflected off Scott Dann past the despairing Robison. According to the official Premier League fantasy football this will go down as an assist for the Scouser- making him still one of the best value players in the game and making me wish I’d stuck him in.

Meetings this season between the two clubs have been quite close with the lads edging both home games and only just loosing the away F.A Cup game which should give confidence to the squad. The lads will want to bounce back themselves, the collapse against Fulham will be a tough reminder to the side that we need to stay solid and work as a unit, so I expect a well drilled spirited Newcastle to stop the rot.

Since there FA Cup exit to our hands Blackburn have gained 4 points from the

Love ‘em. HATE has no place in football. At St James’ Park, I scream at the referee: I invoke doubt about his parentage, question his eyesight and join in communal condemnation with the choral words: “You’re not fit to be a referee.”<br <br But HATE mail. Vicious tweeting. Come on.<br <br I hear Danny Simpson’s been getting a barrage of nasty stuff through Twitter. ANYONE guilty of that SHOULD STOP!!<br <br Lets be clear: I’m not Danny’s biggest fan.<br <br I dislike his attitude to money and the way he told a court he couldn’t afford to lose his driving license.

Alan Pardew should, tonight, hang his head in shame. In a week where the cockney NUFC boss said he understood Newcastle’s cup tradition, he wasn’t joking. But he was being disingenuous.

He knew that, for years, NUFC have suffered ignominious defeat at the hands of “smaller”, “lesser” teams. Tonight, he upheld that tradition.<br <br Now, I have already said I didn’t want NUFC to have a long cup run. And I hold true to that.<br <br And our loss to Brighton would be a comfortable thing for ME to accept were it not for the manner of our defeat. We whimpered out of the FA Cup. And why? <br <br Because Pardew WANTED it that way!!!<br <br Why else did he choose to continue with the ludicrous formation which has Jonas as a central midfielder, Leon Best as a left winger and

Vuckic, Ferguson, Abeid and Sammy Ameobi all deserve to be given first team chances, but we all crave our FA cup run and an end to our lack of silverware.

The FA cup has always held a special place in our hearts since we reached the final in ’98 and ‘99, and lost to the champions, on both occasions. We all desperately crave another Wembley trip and we all know, that this could be our year.

So far, Brighton have had to overcome Wrexham, in the previous round, who were a potential banana skin. Wrexham worked hard at the Amex Stadium and took it to a replay at the Racecourse Ground, which Brighton nicked on penalties.

Newcastle played Blackburn

PLEASE, God NO! Don’t let THAT happen, no matter what. Because the headlines that follow our defeat at Wembley (and lose, we would), would be cataclysmic.<br <br First. There’d be the question. <br <br “Did FA Cup run cost Newcastle a European place?” <br <br Because a cup run will do that. We may NOT manage a European place anyway, but the cup will make damned certain we fail.<br <br Then would come the first cracks. <br <br “Coloccini refuses to sign new contract. Skipper will leave Magpies as free agent.”<br <br But, stoically, the club will soldier on. Pardew would say: “These things happen,” as he signs Fred Smithers from Southern Scunthorpe Wheeltappers Social

There is a new found confidence amongst both players and fans this season, that this side on their day can take on anyone and win. The trip to Fulham was the first away game in a 2012 that has seen the side win all 3 fixtures. Craven Cottage, one of the few traditional grounds remaining in the division, has been a relatively unhappy destination for us in recent years, with only 3 points from a possible 15 in the last 5 years. That victory coming from a Joey Barton penalty after a truly woeful game under the management of Sam Allardyce. This current side doesn’t have many of the negative characteristics of previous years though. They are organised, committed, and desperate to win games of football. This was reflected in the team selection.

It was a huge bonus to see Cabaye back in the side after he departed on

Newcastle backed up their win against Man UTD with a professional 1-0 home win against QPR last Saturday while Fulham lost to relegation candidates Blackburn after an impressive 2-1 win against Arsenal.

Previous Meetings

If you’re hoping for a goal fest then think again. Newcastle Vs Fulham is a notoriously low scoring fixture with neither team scoring more than 2 goals in the last 11 games against each other.

The last time the two teams met, the game ended with Newcastle securing a 2-1 victory at St. James’ Park. In the last 5 visits to Craven Cottage Newcastle have only pulled off 1 victory with Fulham winning 4.
