Things to do in Jambi – Sumatra

A lot of travellers seem to bypass the province of Jambi and even the city itself much preferring to travel on to Medan and other places. Such is their loss because the province has so much to offer in terms of beauty, culture and history. With total area of about 5,343,700 hectares Jambi consists of 9 regencies and its terrain varies from low land areas in the east and hills and mountainous in the west. Most of the mountainous areas are to be found in the regency of Kerinci. Jambi has a wealth biodiversity as you will find in the four national parks; Kerinci Seblat National Park, Berbak National Park, Bukit Dua Belas National Park, and Bukit Tiga Puluh National Park. The province of Jambi is located on the east coast of Central Sumatra faces to Malaka Straits sharing borders with four other provinces in Sumatra and has long been a melting pot of different ethnic groups.

The earliest inhabitants were the Kubus, who were among the first wave of Malays to migrate to Sumatra. The ancient kingdom of Melayu developed and grew in Jambi and maintained relations with the mighty kingdoms of Sriwijaya, Majapahit and Singasari. The Buddhist Empire of Sriwijaya, prospered and grew along the Musi River bank in South Sumatra well over a thousand years ago. The city of Jambi is steeped in history and it is well worth staying here for a week and utilise it as a base to explore the rest of the region as well as the city itself.

Places of Interest:

Batik & Handicraft Atelier: Located about 2 klms from the centre of the town of Jambi, this place is a centre for the Jambi-style Batik, plait work and agate handicraft. Surprisingly the centre is run by women!

Lake Kerinci

The lake is located 20 km from Sungai Penuh. This is a popular tourist spot with beautiful panoramas and a cool place to chill-out. Accommodation is available on the side of the lake.

Kerinci Seblat National Park

Kerinci Seblat National Park is located in the Bukit Barisan Mountains and occupies a total area of 1,484,650 hectares. Here you will find a great variety of animal species; elephants, Sumatran tigers, Sumatran rhino, tapirs, panthers, deer, wild goats, primates, crocodiles, birds and reptiles amongst others. There is great hiking in this park.

Mount Kerinci

Mount Kerinci is the highest mountain on the island of Sumatra and it is popular with mountain climbers. The nearest village and climber’s base is Kersik Tuo, near Kayu Aro, Kerinci. The route is marked by signs, posted at half kilometre intervals. The best season to visit is January to October. The best way to get there is to fly to Padang and then go to the town of Sungai Penuh in the district of Kerinci in Jambi Province which is 7 – 8 hours drive from Padang or 278 km. Otherwise, you can go to the village of Kersik Tuo with a distance of 211 km from Padang or approximately 5 – 6 hours drive.

Muara Jambi Temple

The temple is 30 km northeast of Jambi, along the Batanghari River. The site is considered one of the richest archaeological sites on the island of Sumatra. The eight temple-like Bhuddist structures were probably built around the 14th century. In 1982, a 32 centimetre tall female bronze statue was found at Koto Kandis, in Muara Sabak. It was believed to be the goddess Laksmi, holding a lotus bud in her right hand and an oil lamp in her left.

Bukit Duabelas Nature Reserve

Bukit Duabelas Nature Reserve is located in the Pauh subdistrict, 60 km from Bangko in the Sarolangun Bangko regency. It covers 28,703 hectares andis home to deer, monkeys, bears, wild pigs, elephants, snakes, iguanas and many species of birds. Small lakes are found in its surroundings and many small streams discharge into the Batanghari River. This nature reserve is also home to 1,000 people of the Kubu (Anak Dalam) tribe.

I’ve read about many celebrities who like Indonesia and Chris Carrabba is one of them. For all, Indonesia is something different, something that normally they “shouldn’t” like but there’s something that makes them like it.

Before you start looking for airfare to Indonesia and booking the accommodation, make sure to do a bit of research to know what to pack.

When it comes to Indonesia, travel with duck tape is a must. It can be used as a dressing (typically in the middle of no where and with too many sores ….), as a way to mend the mosquito nest or the tent, as a band-aid (it’s waterproof!) and, in emergency, holding clothes or shoes together.

Indonesia is not the easiest place to visit. Aside from being the world’s largest archipelago, it is also a multicultural land. For those used to the dry European or Northern American climate, when they land in Indonesia, the shock of the warm and wet air is hard to be described.

There is a lot to do and see here. For the first time traveler, Jakarta – the capital city – is an interesting place to visit, filled with interesting things to see and bunch of shopping opportunities. Not to mention that you can get a crash course in street food.

Don’t miss visiting a Buddhist temple and enjoy the unique Hindu culture of Bali. The nature is amazing and ranges from tropical forests to volcanic mountains. Plus, if you love water sports, scuba diving and surfing can be practiced here.

Southeast Asia comprises two geographic regions: the Asian mainland and island arcs and archipelagoes to the east and southeast; or in other words, countries such as: Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.

The entire area is very popular among RTW travelers for various reasons, but the most important is the low-cost of living and traveling here. If you book multi stop flights RTW ticket, you can explore a lot of what the area has to offer.

If you are a sucker for fruits, just like me, don’t forget to eat your way through the weird fruits of Southeast Asia . You’ve probably seen them in TV shows (Bizarre Foods, anyone?) or even in the supermarket isle in your town, but the experience is definitely unique if you sample them in the open air markets in South East Asia. I admit I have my eyes on several exotic fruits – rambutan , dragon fruit and green mango – and I cannot wait to try them locally.

Of course, a visit in the open air markets should also include sampling of the local foods. Vegetarians will love the many rice dishes. You can also try the vegetable dishes. Remember when Anthony Bourdain tried the nasi timbel (white steamed rice wrapped in a banana leaf)? You should do that too!

As soon as you figured out the flights, look for cheap South East Asian hotels . For just $27 a night you can stay in a 2-star hotel in Indonesia.

Wisata Seo sadau" adalah keyword yang di pertandingkan oleh blogger tarakan,dengan mengusung wisata seo sadau dan walaupun dengan memberikan backlink tak apalah saya coba2 ikutan, hehehe... sambil uji kemampuan seo nih, sambilan aja sih. hadiahnya sebenarnya cuma 1 hari dari tantangan $50 adsense saya. hehehe... tapi yah dari pada saya berikan tentang teori melulu mending gue kali ini ikutan dah yang namanya Kontes wisata SEO sadau.

Going to Bali this Summer

If you’re anything like most travelers who begin planning a trip to Bali without knowing much about it, you’re probably drawn by the promise of beautiful beaches and sunny weather, but you’re not entirely sure what the weather will be like when you want to go or if there’s an ideal time to visit. For instance, you might assume that visiting Bali in July or August would be uncomfortable because it would be too hot. But because Indonesia is on or near the equator (depending on where you are), the climate is relatively steady year-round.

July and August temperatures typically max out in the 88-90F range (31-32C), but that’s only a few degrees warmer than it can get in January. And the wet season doesn’t tend to start until September, so you don’t have to worry about gazing at the beach through the windows but being stuck inside because of rain.

So you know what that means – it’s time to plan a trip to Bali!

First, you’ll need to get your airfare to Bali sorted. The main airport to access this Indonesian island is Denpasar’s Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS), and it happens to be really close to places in Bali that most tourists want to visit. That’s partly just lucky, and partly because Bali is small enough that nothing is terribly far away.

Next, you’ll need a place to stay. Like any other tourist destination, Bali has its fair share – some would say more than its fair share – of hotels you can choose from, but you might want to consider staying in one of the many Bali villas instead. The word “villa” may make you think it’s an expensive option, or that you need to be staying for weeks or months to make it worth getting a house of your own, but villas in Bali are cheap enough that it’s definitely an affordable luxury. Plus, it’s much easier to totally relax when you’ve got a whole villa to yourself – especially if said villa is right on the beach.

Among the many options for a place to base yourself, you might consider Sanur, Bali. It’s a popular beach resort town on the south coast, but despite that there’s only one oversized resort-style hotel in the town. There are all kinds of water sports you can try from a Sanur base, and the nightlife scene isn’t particularly lively so it doesn’t have much of a party atmosphere after dark.

Indonesia is located between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. It is the largest archipelago in the world, with 18,110 islands, 6,000 of them inhabited. It is also the fourth most populous country in the world.

Despite the statistics it’s not that hard to plan to travel to Indonesia and enjoy the country as a local. You must sample the street food – it’s fresh, exotic and you can find food carts absolutely everywhere. Also, make sure to explore the rural areas as well, to get in touch with the authentic, traditional way of life.

For the first time traveler, starting your Indonesian adventure in the capital of Jakarta is a good idea. The perpetually congested city can teach you a lot of lessons when it comes to using the public transport and living like a local. Airfare to Jakarta is not hard to find but you should search for deals ahead of time.

If you have several weeks to explore the country, consider visiting some of the largest cities such as Manado, Semarang and Jayapura. Hotels in Indonesia are very affordable but do make sure to do the research and choose something that matches your travel style.

It is impossible to cover a lot of ground on your first visit in Indonesia. It is advisable to focus on a particular large island and explore as much as you can of it. Or you can visit some of the most popular small islands.

Things to See in Central Kalimantan

Kalimantan is an island of adventure and intrigue. Central Kalimantan with an area covering 153,800 square kilometres, mostly jungle but, offers so much for the traveller you see and do. The northern area is mountainous and difficult to reach. The central area is dense tropical forest. The southern area is swampy and has many rivers. The climate is hot and humid.

In particular the tribes living in these areas are an anthropologists delight as well as being of intense interest to the traveller. The tree Dayak sub-tribes inhabit the province and are the Ngaju, Ot Danum, and Ma’anyan Ot Siang. The Ngaju are nomadic. They adhere to the old Kaharingan religion. This is a form of ancestor worship mixed with elements of animism.

With approximately 6,000 people, the Ot Danum is the largest among the tree sub-tribes. The Ot Danum live in longhouses which sometimes have as many as 50 rooms. The women are known for their skill in plaiting rattan, palm leaves, and bamboo. Like other Dayaks, the men are good hunters, using simple tools. The art of Central Kalimantan clearly bears the marks of Kaharingan religion, which is the traditional belief of the Dayaks in the hinterland of Central Kalimantan. Building styles, statues and carvings have been influenced by the Chinese, and Hindu-Javanese. Aside from their aesthetic properties, many objects are appreciated for their magic value.

Places of Interest

Palangkaraya:

In the local Dayak language, Palangkaraya means ‘holy container’. Palangkaraya can easily be reached from Jakarta, Banjarmasin, Samarinda, Balikpapan and other points on the island by air. The town has become the centre of government, trade and education of the province. The Regional Museum of Palangkaraya contains a collection of historical and cultural interest from all over Central Kalimantan.

Kuala Kapuas:

It is located at Kapuas River, 40 km from Banjarmasin. A well-known tourist attraction is Telo Island, a pleasant fishing village and port. For the adventurer, white-water rafter and nature lovers, there is Gohong Rawai, known for its beautiful and challenging rapids. The gold mines of Teweh and Batu Api, Rungan district, are also interesting sites to be visited. In this region, gold mining is a major source of livelihood for the people, who pan for the valuable metal using the old traditional method.

Tanjung Puting National Park:

The Tanjung Puting National Park is a well-known nature and wildlife reserve in lowland and swamp forests, inhabited by orang utans, owa-owa, bekantan and other primates. One can visit the Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre which is supported by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Sampit:

Sampit is the biggest timber port in Kalimantan. The Orchid Park of Pembuangan Hulu is home to a number of rare and beatiful orchid varieties. Hunters can engage in their favourite pastime of hunting park of West Kotawaringin.

Pangkalanbun:

Make sure to visit the old Palace of Pangkalanbun, constructed completely out of ulin (iron wood). It is the only Banjar royal legacy found in Central Kalimantan.

Every where theft is a result of less care of the owner, so it will be wise to practice caution wherever and whenever we exist.

Untuk Rombongan / Group . untuk hotel yang tidak punya acces Bus seperti Maharani II , Legian Village , matahari bungalow dan Aneka Beach Hotel , harga paket sudah termasuk biaya Komotra ( angkutan khusus kuta & legian area ) .
Kebijakan harga untuk anak-anak ( 4 - 12 Tahun ) :
- Sekamar dengan orang tua menggunakan extra bed = 75 % dari harga dewasa
- Sekamar dengan orang tua tanpa extra bed = 50 % dari harga dewasa
- Bayi / Infant ( 0 - 3 Tahun ) Free Of Charge / Gratis
