Nurgle Command - For all your putrid needs

Chaos rises again, no boltguns allowed!

Ah hello there! Been a while I know, I've been very busy with personal matters and my new wargaming empire Putrid Painting (lol empire). Today I bring forth to you something different, something that doesn't wear power armour or ride around in a big land raider, for today I am starting something new to me, Warriors of Chaos!

Yes as those of you who follow me on Facebook/Twitter will know, I received a mystery parcel to my lair yesterday and upon my other half returning from plundering currency from the local savages (otherwise known as work :P) I was forced to choose from two codexs' of which the first was Vampire Counts and the other was Warriors of Chaos. Now upon looking through both codexs I was blown away by both, the models for both were ace, the lore (from what I scanned) was amazing and the rules were very interesting, but in the long run, when the Dark Gods call upon us you simply cannot resist...so I turned to chaos once more to seek victory and blood!

You probably all knew which god I was going to go for but I did take a look through all 4 gods of chaos and I really like the Nurgle fluff, so I will be sticking to that for this army, most likely be keeping the same colour scheme to to compliment both armies :)

So, as I flicked through the Warriors of Chaos codex I began to notice how similar it is to the 40k one, there is a Lord (HQ) that is very similar in power to Abbadon, a "boon" table like the 40k codex except its only a 2D6 roll of a max number of 12 and yet again no extra little daemon allies can be summoned forth bar our good old Daemon Price.

So what did I get with my newly acquired army? Well here's the list:

20 Chaos Marauders
12 Chaos Warriors
10 Chaos Warhounds
5 Chaos Knights

Not a bad haul really! The only disappointment I had was that there was no Lord/HQ included, I haven't read the rules fully yet but i don't think that matters entirely however I would like to have a lord or several of my own obviously :P.

With that in mind I took to the Games Workshop (GW) website and had a look, I don't know why but I wasn't interested in Festus or even the Nurgle chaos lord, according to the fluff in the codex, it says that chaos lords are THE dude to look for, big hulking commanders of battle that stand twice the height of a champion wearing the best ornate armour. I didn't see any of this on the GW site SO I think I'm going to attempt to make something that does it justice, not sure what yet but that's my thinking.

After asking for opinions and advice on the army, I will probably get more chaos warriors as they look awesome and are tough as boots, as well as some knights. I was also thinking of going for a flyer or two plus a heavy weapon in the form of Chimeras and Hellcannons :P

After seeing some of the other unit types in the codex I will probably go for some ogres too, I have some models in mind for these that look more Nurgle than the GW ones, they are called undead trolls and come from Titan Forge miniatures, they fit the bill perfectly as the image shows below:

The magic aspect of warhammer fantasy has also excited me, it's more in-depth than 40k and has alot more promenance in the battlefield with wizards duking it out, casting horrific terror upon their enemies, and the Nurgle list is no exception, it will be something I will cover in a later blog.

All in all, I love the codex and army so far, I will enjoy learning this new game (to me it's new) and I hope you enjoy joining me on this journey!

The battle of Tredegar...1660points of Chaos and Imperial madness!

As night fell, Typhus, Host of the destroyer hive and captain of the Terminus Est surveys the battle field at Tredegar 1337.

"Sergeant!" , He coughs out through his horribly rusted and bile infested helm.

"Yyyyes my lord", The zombie sergeant shambles over to the hulking mass of rot, hoping he hadn't done something wrong.

"Have the cultists finished their prayers to the Plaguefather, preparing the warp for the arrival of my new sorcerer?", Typhus grips his Manreaper tight and lowers it to the sergeants neck, "You have been to check, haven't you?"

"Indeed my lord!", The rotting corpse responds with haste, not wanting to loose a limb...again, "The warp is prepared and the cultists will direct the sorcerer to where he is most needed oh merciful one"

"MERCIFUL!", Typhus snaps, "I'LL SHOW YOU MERCIFUL YOU UNGRATEFUL SACK OF S**T!", Typhus cleaves the sergeants head clean off, coming back again with the mighty reaper and slicing the torso in half, "Get me another cultist! I need another sergeant, this one cost an arm and a leg!"

A vile day to you all! Nurgle Command here with a new blog and today is battle report time! Yes I know it's been about 6 months or so since the last proper report but Krell had to update allot of the systems due to a recent move, everything is working fine now so we can carry on as normal!

I met a guy called Kevin Rowland the other week and as we got talking, I found out he helps to run a local wargames club near to me called the Tredegar Reavers. After more discussion I challenged him to a fight and that way I can meet some of the regulars, get a feel for the club and thrash some Marines of the Imperium while I'm at it!

So without any further delay here are the teams details:

Chaos Space Marines - Nurgle Command

Troops: 3 tactical squads w/ 3 Plasma Cannons, Melta gun + plasma gun (540)

Elites: Terminators w/ assault cannon (230)

Total Army Size: 1660 Points

With the formalities out the way, let's get stuck into battle!

We roll off for mission setups and deployment. Mission rolled was crusade and we rolled 4 objectives and placed them. Deployment rolled was hammer and anvil, Kevin won so deployed first with me shortly after.

Here we see the false emperors' lackeys doing his dirty work for him again. I was worried about the land raider, what with the Hellbrute really being the only thing in my army that could kill it. The vindicator would be fine if I could get a good shot at it with a plasma gun or krak grenade or three...

Behold the digusting glory of the Plaguefathers' finest! My forgefiend standing proud upon the hillside ready to rain down bile and toxic ooze on anything 24" within it's horrific range. And my devastatingly expensive defiler bringin up the rear with that immense 72" battlecannon. Typhus and his guard squad of Deathshroud ready to pounce on any sneaky imperial scumbags that lay in wait...

After deployment I was given the option of seizing the objective, so I gave Krell the honour and after many failed attempts of getting him to hold the dice, he rolls and hits the magic 6! Yoink is the appropriate term!

I advance the army, my forgefiend eager to dispense his bile cannons into something he dashes forward, firing off two of the three cannons into a squad of tactical marines, vaporising two of the squad and making the rest flee in terror! However this didn't make Kevin flinch and I suspected he had a devious holy plan up his ars...I mean sleeve.

And that he did, in his turn, he drops a drop pod near to my defiler, disembarking his squad of heavily melta gunned sternguard. They turn to face the many legged monster and fire off their combi guns into it, taking out the beast in a hail of super hot rounds and exploding the chaos machine into slag and toxic ooze. Ah back to defiler turn 1 deaths I see...

Afraid not were the death guard from seeing one of their most powerful machines going down, the army advances, in hope of gaining a new objective and seeking revenge on the enemy.

Annoyed at seeing my prized defiler destroyed but knowing my forgefiend coudln't penetrate the land raiders thick armour, I turn my sights to Kevin's vindicator and fly off a few rounds, one hits and takes a hull point off it and preventing it from moving and shooting for a turn, a small victory for now so it seems. Meanwhile I send my zombie cultists in to capture an objective and another shamble toward the enemy. Assaulting takes place and unfortunately the zombies get hacked to pieces but then my Deathshroud do some work and gun down the remaining two sternguard marines, freeing Typhus up to go wreak some havoc!

My sorcerer deepstrikes in through the warp and lands right next to a full squad of marines! But with marines having no feelings they don't feel the sheer terror that this menance would normally causing to the normal mortal and lay down fire upon the many-armed sorcerer lord, his terminator armour saving him from all but one bolter round he charges in with his tendrites flailing, poisioned thanks to his gift of mutation and challenges the sergeant to bloody combat, being a wuss he declines glorious battle for sheer numbers and the marines pile onto the chaos sorcerer, and after some bloody conflict manage to destroy the sorcerer and send him back to the warp.

Kevin starts to have worries about my Hellbrute being close to his land raider and decides to disembark the terminators inside and assault the raging beast. After the hellbrute failed to backhand any away, they easily dispatch it with their thunder hammers, clearing the way to an objective...little did they realise what was coming through the wasteland...

Being horrendously pissed off with loosing so many so-called "good men", Typhus charges in with his squad of Deathshroud guard, challenging the warlord of the space marines to a mighty duel! After an epic conflict and exchange of blows Chaplain and warlord Orneus Gyozo manages to land a right hook into the side of Typhus with his power fist and pulls out some entrails, sending Typhus reeling backward, certain in victory, he turns to his fellow Terminator guard and celebrates holding the entrails in the end and shouting some rubbish. Meanwhile Typhus gets back up, being a servant of Nurgle means you don;t do death and advances toward the imperial scum while muttering some words of power, after being alerted the chaplain goes to turn around to guard himself but it is too late and with a swing of his manreaper the warlord is no more and is turned into nothing but a pile of ectoplasmic goo under Typhus' feet. With that the two squads of terminators go at it and destroy eachother in an immense bloody conflict, leaving Typhus completely free to charge the next tactical squad in another turn. They lay down fire but it simply pings off the Nurgle lords' infested armour, he charges and lets out the destroyer hive upon them, it is a glorious sight to watch blood and ooze stream from within a marines' power armour and the squad go down while Typhus cackles with glee.

Sensing imminent danger the marine vindicator fires upon another objective in the hope of clearing out some more chaos Plague Marines, over the course of a few turns it manages to take down most of the squad, finally leaving the champion standing guard, these dudes are super resistant!

Amongst all this madness, I get distracted and this allows Kevin to advance onto the centre objective, gaining him more victory points!

The battle finally ends and it ends and I loose 4-7. It was a great match and after not playing for nearly 6 months, I felt I did well. I have already challenged The Evandalists to a re-match and have partially produced a plan of attack.

It was great to meet everyone at the Tredegar Reavers and Kevin Rowland was a brilliant player to fight against and all round genuine bloke. All images you are seeing here are all his own and I do not own them in any respect but are used on permission from him.

Nurgle Gallery! It could be you!

Hello and a vile day to you all! I trust you are spreading your virulent plague throughout your local area?

Now onto today's subject which is pictures! More importantly Nurgle model pictures! Krell has set me up with a gmail account (which I will give out nearer to the end of this blog) and we have decided to use this email to gather your pictures to post onto the Facebook page for all to see in all its disgusting glory!

The requirements for the image to be posted up are as follows:

The model has to be finished (painted and based) although I will accept near finished (as long as we can't see the bit you haven't done).
The image has to be in jpeg format (this makes it easier to upload for everyone)
The image must be no bigger than 10Mb (this shouldn't be an issue).

And that's it! The picture itself can be any dimension you like as Facebook cuts it down to a decent ratio anyway so get posting! I will be hosting and sharing the images as fast as I receive them so don't delay and email away!

SHOWCASE: Nurgle Chaos Terminator Sorcerer (HQ)

A most putrid welcome to all and welcome to another blog from your favourite underlord Nurgle Command!

Today sees a showcase of something a few of you have gotten oozing boils over and that is my Nurgle Chaos Sorcerer! I finished him today and I've got some pictures ready! So here you go!

So here he is in the rotting flesh. Armed visualy with a "chainfist" (represented by a chainsword/claw displayed on the left arm in this pic) and a "power weapon" (represented by the tentacle on the right arm in this pic) he is definitely a force to be reckoned with.

Image of his what would be left side you can clearly see the tentacle in this image and also the skull shoulder pad, this pad was chosen to be of a skull colour by you guys! So thanks for that input!

In the rear image you can fully see the awesomeness of the wings on this dude, although purely aesthetic, you can just image the terror he would put into the enemy flying over the battlefield raining down the putrid horror of Nurgle!

The right side sees a closer look at that viscous chainfist, something nobody wants to get in the way of! I really love how well the claw-like part of it came out, looks convincing in my opinion :).

So some of you are probably wondering where the bits all came from! Well basically this model is a mash-up of the chaos terminator box (majority), the chaos possessed box (wings and most the daemonic features) and the mechanical tendrils came from a chaos warpsmith, yes I paid full price on a warpsmith pretty much just for the tendrils, but you know what, I think it was worth it as this dude looks badass!

SHOWCASE: Forgefiend

Hello my vile Nurglings and welcome back to another Blog! Today I have a showcase for you! I finally finished off the Forgefiend! And yes before you trolls say "yeah but your base isn't finished therefore the model isn't", the reason I have left the base is because I want to do something cool with it so haven't attached it to a base yet...so :PPPPPP.

Anyway enough of this foolery! Onward with the pictures!

Behold the beast that is my forgefiend! I'm really pleased with how he's turned out, arguably my best Chaos machine that I have painted thus far (out of forgefiend, helldrake and defiler). I really love how well my double wash has come out on him :D

Here's a view of the back of the fiend, really the easiest part of the model to paint and wash due to the flat areas of the model.

The belly of the beast! I love how the wash has worked on the "metal" areas here. And the "bile" glow from the vents still stands out a bit, I would of liked to have done a bit of OSL on them but I don't feel confident enough to throw it onto something so gorgeous.

This is a just a close up of the "face" of the forgefiend, showing off the teeth, I really feel that it's these that make the model as they really stand out against the greens. I could of just done a dull colour or even made them look like deadly metallic munchers but as I explained to a friend, I wanted him to look like an organic monster with metal addons rather than the other way round. If you look full size you can see the green glaze I gave the teeth as well to give a Toxic feel to his teeth :)

Yes you heard correct from the other vile beings in my command! I'm back! And not a moment too soon!

As you may have seen from my Youtube video (this my be up before the latest vid) I have a new "uniform" of sorts! Picture below!

Yep that's right it's a Nurgle t-shirt! Amazing early birthday present! This will become the uniform for all my vlogs and streams!

Now onto the important stuff you horrible lot want to know...what exactly are my plans this week?

Well for a starters I am going to get that HQ model for mine and Power Armoured Metals' battle glued up and ready for base coating! Then once I get my house bond back from my other home I'm going to buy something very special to go with Typhus...something I've had my eyes on for a while now, heck you may of heard me talk about them in the Chilling Wargamers stream!

ENOUGH! I have said too much! But rest assured you will be getting more regular updates as my week progress and the internet I am borrowing allows!

Until then my rotting cultists stay true to the grandfather and infect everything in your sight!

Live from Youtube! Iiiiiiiiiits NC!

Yes my bile filled corpses you saw the title and presumed correctly, I will be making an appearance on the increasingly popular youtube livestream The Chilling Wargamers.

On this feed you will apparently be able to ask me questions and hurl chaotic abuse at the host and other guests! Fantastic!

Other guests include the ever changing chaos powered thorn in my side Power Armoured Metal. We will be going into our epic battle in a little more detail and perhaps even argue a bit over whos fault it is that we are even doing it (although he totally started it!).

So yeah, the show is at 7pm on Thursday 17th January (literally in 2 days time from the date of this blog) and will be shown on the FearGFX youtube channel. I expect to see you there to show some support you wretched things!

Krel hacks the databanks of a destroyed Imperial Ship...

*It was a bright and horrifically clear day on Nurgle Commands' homeworld of Daemos Prime...so seeing how there was nothing else to do, Krel, Nurgle Commands' ever-faithful blob construct decided to scan the planet for something to do...*

"YACK! What a clear day outside! Simply disgusting! Well while my lord is slumbering inside his bile pit I may as well scan the planet surface for something interesting..."

*frantic beeping and clacking of keys follows, along with some vomiting*

"Oh hello there what's this!? It seems I have come across a data pad that's been left on the planet surface! Let's see if it's data is still live, you know how well these things are made!"

*moments later*

"HAHA! Yes cracked it! Oops forgot about my Lord!" *looks over shoulder*, "dammit Krel keep it down" he thinks to himself.

"So what do we have here? A file by a marine babbling about Nurgle? I wonder if it's linked with my Lord? Possibly, I shall read it and see what information I can obtain!" *He then coughs out his 'liver', shoves it back into himself and carries on with the reading...*

I don't know if this will reach anyone but if you are reading this, BE WARNED! There is something out there in the fabric of space that is unholy to every degree we can imagine.

I was stationed on the planet of Daemos Prime where we had taken back an outpost swarming with Chaos cultists, it was strange as it was an easy fight, no leader, no backup, no heavy weapons, we had no casualties and barely used any ammunition However what we didn't notice is the Chaos markings on the back of the cultists, well I did but being the fool I was I didn't think anything of it.

Two days had then pasted since we took the outpost and a Thunderhawk was due the next day to pick us up and a squad of Marines were to take over the outpost, the squad were relieved of this because this planet was totally barren, no vegetation, no water, and no signs of apparent indigenous life apart from the cultists we encountered.

That particular day was extra inhospitable, the scouts had to take cover in the outpost as the dust winds were so intense, I remained outside as I had power armour equipped. I had a gut feeling things were going to get bad, quickly.

After an hour or so the winds died down and I sent a sniper out to go scout the perimeter for hostiles, this was routine now so I didn't think to go with the rookie so I remained at the outpost to keep the squad in line. Minutes later I hear a gunshot, it was from the sniper. I engage the vox and tell him to report any hostiles..but all I get back is screaming, bones crackling, and what I can only describe as a squelching sound. I raise the squad from the outpost and tell them to ready themselves for glorious battle, however it was short-lived.

They came at us from all sides, "NURGLINGS!" I shouted and began firing upon the horrific creatures, I take a few down but they quickly swarmed the outpost, I hear gunshots and shouting for a while and it goes quiet for a moment. Then I smell something, something utterly foul in nature. I couldn't even begin to describe the smell, it was horrible, it was infact corroding my armour it was that bad!

I look beyond the gates of the outpost and see a silhouette, the silhouette gets larger to around terminator sized, I think to myself "Chaos Terminator?!" and I get startled by a voice inside my head saying "No...much worse".

I fire wildly into the distance in an act of desperation in hope to hit the being and wound it, but all I got back was maniacal laughter.

I see the terminator armour clad unit come into my vision, my god what a sight it was...

I was correct by saying terminator armour, but it was coated in a greenish slime, it had wings protruding from its back but wasn't a daemon prince, much too small for that. One arm was a tentacle whereas the other looked like a fusion of arm and chain-sword, added to the swarming flies around it I blurted out "Your a servant of Nurgle aren't you?!" and the thing responded with "Yes, I am, your not Chaos!" he spits acid on the floor in front of me "your a Space Marine of the...eugh emperor". "Yes I am", I responded, "I'm a sergeant of what was omega squad of the Ultramarines and if you want to live I suggest you leave while you still can", the monster cackles, "Hahaha oh I'm supposed to FEAR you am I? Well I think it is you...who should be scared, although aren't you supposed to feel no fear? Let us test this.", and with that he simply looks at me, and I suddenly cannot control my own arm, I am conscious during the time, I un-holster my bolt pistol and put it to my leg, "What are you doing?", I ask, "What? Are you AFRAID of losing a limb marine?", he responds with what I think was a grin on this face, "I fear no man!", I foolishly let slip, damn my training! "I am no man fool", and with that he makes me put a bullet into my leg and it takes it clean off! Writhing in pain I manage to crawl back to inside the outpost while the creature laughed at me. "Look my followers! See how this simple Marine Sergeant fears us! This is no member of the Thousand Sons, KREL! You have clearly taken us to the wrong planet AGAIN!", it screams at what appears to be a humanoid but he's tiny about half the size of the Nurgle sorcerers' leg, "I...I'm sorry my Lord, I had good information that they were here", he spills out to his 'Lord', they all seemed to call it by this name, 'Lord', that's all I got as a name, can it be this is a Chaos Sorcerer Lord of Nurgle? I didn't have any information to back it up but I closed the blast door tight and looked out to the front of the outpost. "You are beginning to agitate me Krel, I've had enough of your bumbling idiocy!", the Lord bellows at the humanoid, "I'm sorry my Lord! It won't happen again!", it shrieks, "No...no it won't Krel", the Lord waves a hand and all of a sudden the humanoid turns into a grotesque creature of rot, slime and puss. I had to look away for I was going to vomit it was that horrific, I had never seen such sorcery! And who were these Thousand Sons? I overheard talking from the Chaos Lord that he was going to slay every last one if it takes him another millennia. Just then I heard him shout, "I will let you live this time Marine, but be warned, I will come for you one day, and I will have your corpse on a rack rotting away for eternity!", I looked over the wall of the outpost and I saw nothing, like the attachment of Nurgle troops had just vanished into thin air.

I remained where I was at the outpost for another 24 hours before the Thunderhawk landed, the reason I left this behind was I could not let them see my fear, for that is the path to Chaos...

"HAHA Look's like my Lord has quite the reputation within the Ultramarines! I don't remember finding a data pad on the surface! Such a weakling of a marine, shame we fell down that hole and ended up here! Ah well! back to work!"

*Krel goes back to the racks to begin the daily lashings of the undead corpse of what can barely be described as a Space Marine if it wasn't for the tags around his neck that said Elag...*

Hello my vile cultists! I hope you enjoyed that story into...well me! This extract is fluff to go along side the model I will be making a HQ for my army to do battle with Power Armoured Metal later in the year! A Legion of extraordinary plaguemen!

Oh it's you lot again, back for more putrid gossip from the plaguelands? Well I have no "news" as such for you but I tell you what, you could do me a favour for your most favoured Lord while you're here!

I'm coming to the end of painting my Forgefiend (recently stopped to have a rest from painting) and am not sure what to start on next, so I was wondering if you vile lot would do me the great dis-honour of choosing my next project!

The list for my rotting creations is as follows (some pictures included):

Chaos Bastion w/ Icarus Lascannon + Imperial Barricades. These just need to be painted.

Nurgle Chaos Sorc in Term armour w/ Black Mace & Lightning claw. This needs more nurgle on it in the way of greenstuff and then painting up.

Possessed squad. Had a cool idea for these to paint each one up in the colours of each chaos god and then have one painted in a normal space marine colour scheme. Haven't got round to them yet though sadly.

Nurgle Greater daemon (would also work as a Daemon Prince of Nurgle) and two Beasts of Nurgle (would count as my Chaos Spawn). These need a bit of finishing modelling wise then painting up.

Box of Pink Horrors. I wanna paint these as "Green Horrors" and have them shooting green plasma fire and all sorts. Just haven't got round to building them.

A 50+ strong band of Chaos Space marines including Havocs and what used to be chosen. Would need to be either stripped or re-sprayed then put under the banner of Nurgle.

A helbrute that needs painting (I have it base coated already but don't have a newer pic).

I still need to paint both cultist squads from my Purchased box of Dark Vengeance (Pictured to the right and below this caption).

Also not to forget that I swapped ALL my Dark Angels from the Dark Vengeance set for the Chaos Space Marines, I have yet to build them let alone paint them up (worth noting that I kept the Dark Angel Chaplain, I'm not THAT stupid!).

Hello there my disgusting following and welcome to another blog by yours untruley! I suppose your looking for a thank you for all those views you've manage to aquire me...well you would be correct! It's been an amazing few months getting this blog running and I would like to thank a few specific people and pages for their help:

Power Armoured Metal gets my first mention as if it wasn't for meeting him on the DakkaDakka forums and seeing his blog, I wouldn't be here today so MASSIVE thanks to you brother for your inspiration and help!

11th Legion gets my second mention, huge thanks to you and your group for the kind words and advice over the last few months!

The DakkaDakka forum gets my next mention, thank you to EVERYONE who gives me advice and comments on the forum, you're all an amazing bunch and continue to be an every growing painting inspiration!

How can I not forget the Crow Valley Crusaders? My local gaming club, thanks for letting my putrid hide into your sanctified lands and being supportive!

Now, enough snivelling and horrific niceness, I've got a rather nice thing to show you all, I've put all my fully painted Nurgle models together as one army and also listed their wargear to show how many points I have to date. So without further interruption, here's the pics!

This is the army shot of everything I have painted in my theme as of today! Quite allot, I was actually surprised by how much there was haha! Forgot about my dear Terminator squad and Dark Vengeance chosen!

Typhus with his Dis-honour guard of Nurgle Terminators leads the left side into glorious battle in the name of Grandfather Nurgle!

Kranon (Dark Vengeance chaos lord) leads the right for the putridness of Nurgle!

All in all there's 2 x HQs, 2 x Elite Squads 4 x Troops (Plague count as troops with Typhus in an army), 1 x Fast Attack and 2 x Heavy Support! Here's the Point list below, note that this is a WARGEAR only list, I havent buffed them with extras like Gift of Mutation or put on melta bombs, etc.

Elite: Typhus' Terminator squad (5 x Terminators, Chainfist, 2 combi-weapons, autocannon + 5 x MoN) - 234

HQ: Chaos Lord (Power Weapon, Plamsa Pistol + MoN) - 110

Quite a decent full Nurgle army I think you'll agree! Now here's the thing, I'm almost done painting my Forgefiend, so I'm going to need to paint something else, I have quite allot of models to paint so keep an eye on the facebook page for the next few days as I'll be posting up a poll and letting you guys decide what my next project should be! So keep all 3 (or however many you have) eyes peeled to see it!

A vile and putrid day to you all! Today bring around the battle report I have promised you from just the other day, again I must apologise, I put it down to Krel not having my images ready, he claims it's just the time it takes for his equipment to "process" the images but I think he just forgot to turn whatever he is using on haha.

ANYWAY, onwards to the report, It was a 1000 point game so here are you armies:

Right so the mission was Purge the alien with hammer and anvil setup. I rolled my Warlord traits and my sorcerer got Exalted Champion, psychic powers for my side came from Biomany and Nurgle with Typhus getting Gift of Contagion and Plague Wind, my sorcerer got Hemorrhage , something I was very pleased with for a 60 point HQ :P.

Here's the terrain setup:

So Lets start off with deployment, I won the roll and chose to go first, here's what it looked like:

So from left to right we have the following: Plague Marine squad, Sorcerer w/ 10 Plague Zombies, Typhus w/ 10 Plague Zombies, Plague Marines, Forgefiend. I decided on throwing the zombies in with the HQs merely to act as meatshield material, gunna be hard to crck those down with Feel no Pain on them :P, then it frees the Plagues up to go where they like.

I spy with my 3rd Nurgle eye, something beginning with F :P

And here's my Opponents setup:

From left to right we have the following:
5 x Wyches in a venom, 5 x Kabalites behind venom, Urien + 4 x Wracks in a venom, Parasite engine, 10 x Kabalites behind para engine, 5 x Kabalites, 5 x Wyches in a venom, Ravager behind the bastion (sneaky ninja tactics!!!!)

Right that's enough of that, on with the battle!

My first turn, a little boring, loads of movement, no shooting due to being out of range (damn hammer and anvil deployment ><).

Dark Eldar first turn sees skimmers a plenty whooshing across the battlefield toward its noxious prey, the Ravager lines up a shot towards my nice new Forgefiend (pray for no New model syndrome)...

A shot lances my fiend but merely glances its horrifically imbued armour causing a flesh wound on my mighty beast, nothing else happens for the rest of the opponent's turn.

Before my next turn I activate the healing powers of the Dark gods and roll for It will not Die, and the beast, roaring in rage heals its dripping wounds with it's own tendrills. Seething with rage from the previous attack, the warriors of the battlefield start hearing this strange humming and glooping noise...

Seething with rage from the previous attack, the warriors of the battlefield start hearing this strange humming and glooping noise as the forgefiend lines itself up for a barrage of Putrid ectoplasma (yes mine is diseased as it is Nurgle after all!).

3 ferocious shots are fired from the cannons of the forgefiend, the ground tenbles as each shot is fired in sucession and a Plague marine even topples over with the sheer force of the shots. The battlefield glows with a green hue as the plasma shots sail over towards its target...2 shots miss and hit to the side and the rear of the venom and squad behind but one hits the squad and scatters onto the back of the raider, exploding the venom in a huge cloud of noxious gas and gibbing 4 out of the 5 squad members. 2 warriors inside the venom manage to escape (seen on the left of this pic) but they are shaken well after that barrage...

Watching their brothers-in-arms felled by the plagued chaos beast, the Dark Eldar swoop forwards toward their chaotic enemy, coming into contact with a Sorcerer with his band of shuffling zombies, firing everything they have they manage to pick off the front line of the squad, leaving the sorcerer out in the open to an attack.

More shots sail from the remaining vehicles that can hit the forgefiend, managing to cause it 2 wounds, sending it reeling in pain, this only angers the beast and lets rip a mighty roar, popping a few eardrums and boils of the nearby Zombies.

Having quite enough of my precious new pet being shot at, I command the fiend to fire upon the ravager, this time only two cannons manage to fire, this is due to a malfunction in one of the plasma tubes, obviously the dark manufactorum couldn't get the right part so bodged the job, I shall be having words...

But this is no problem as one of the cannon shots hit the ravager square on, sending it into a firey and filth-ridden collision course with the ground, it explodes with quite some ferocity but the explosion takes no further casualties...damn.

Witnessing the destruction of what was the only thing he could reach, Typhus decides to take his band of Zombies down a different path and goes to intercept the remainder of the Dark Eldar that remain in reach, realising he can actually see some infantry, he utters a few words under his rusting helm and out from it comes a cloud of putrid gas with all manner of rotting filth inside, pointing his Manreaper toward the enemy, this vile Plague Wind (:P) goes toward its target, the Dark Eldar can only but watch as it comes toward them at great speed.

The wind spreads over the infantry and engulfs them, all you can hear is coughing, spluttering and violent vomiting. The gas clears and 2 of the 5-man squad survived (how is beyond Nurgle himself) but the other 3...there was no trace of anything.

Sorcerers' time to shine! He casts hemorrhage onto one of the remaining troops and pops the poor warrior with a mere thought, a body part still glowing with warp power hits his comrade and the sorcerer blinks and with that the other troop is gone.

The next Dark eldar turn sees a venoms troops + Urein disembark and charge towards Typhus and his zombie horde where an epic clash takes place and only a few warriors are savaged. Meanwhile the remaining venom takes out my Sorcerer, having watched this happen my plague marines go in for the kill and the reamining Zombies madly shuffle onward toward their next prey.

Disaster finally strikes the Nurgle army as the forgefiend is finally put to rest, the wounds it had sustained in battle take their toll on the beast and it keels over, nevertheless it had done well in battle and its soul shall be reborn into a machine once more in a later battle.

Typhus issues Urien a challenge and he accepts! The two go at it in an epic struggle of Scythe and many arms, Urien manages to land a hit on Typhus and it chinks some of his helm off, revealing his rotting face inside, all Urien gets back is a deafening scream and Typhus swipes back at Urien with the Manreaper severing one of his many limbs, weak from this wound Urien staggers back but this leaves him open and Typhus utters some words of corruption and goes in for another assault, this time with warp power glowing all over his scythe, he slashes away and lands a blow, sending Urien to the warp where Grandfather Nurgle awaits....

After seeing the defeat of their Warlord, the Dark Eldar decided that it was in their best interest to return to the webway of which they came to come back with possible reinforcements for another confrontation...

Organising an army...FOR THE GLORY OF NURGLE!!!!

Ahh Friday! The end of the week, the day where you let your hair down and go nuts! Or in my case...organise your armies ready for battle!

Ok so I thought it was high time that I got off my fat slimy putrid arse and did something properly with this Codex :P.

I'm going to do a few army lists, one at around 500 points, one at 1000, one at 1500 and another at between 2000-2500. This should hopefully give us a good look at what the new codex has to offer!

Right enough talk, more lists!!!

500 Point Nurgle Army

HQ:
Typhus = 230Pts
Total for model = 230Pts

Troops:
Basic Plague Marine Squad (4 marines + 1 Champion) = 120Pts
2 x Extra Plague Marines = 48Pts
1 x Plasma Gun upgrade = 15Pts
1 x Gift of Mutation (for Champion) = 10Pts
1 x Icon of Despair (gives Models Fear Special Rule) = 10Pts
Total for squad = 203Pts

Basic Cultist Squad (9 Cultits + 1 Champion) = 50Pts

Ok some might argue here that Typhus is an expensive choice for such a small list but this is how I personally roll my armies, Typhus is ALWAYS in my lists as he is the commander of my forces. Also note that I've thrown in a squad of Plague Zombies for good measure, so this army is now ALL feel no pain models! Gunna be hard to gun them down with a small army :P

I like this configuration, it allows a large amount of Troops for capturing objectives but also provides enough punch to do basic "deathmatch" style games, and being able to "chuck" in a basic sorcerer is even better :P

Pleased with how close I came to 1500 there :P most units are upgraded pretty solidly, going to be interesting having all those mutation gifts and seeing how that pans out :P. Being able to throw cheap zombies in helps with being able to get more heavy support for my troops in via Havocs (because who DOESN'T like heavy bolters :P) and my beastly terminators.

As you can see in this points list, I can fit a daft amount of stuff into this one, I would have more troops/elites but this is based on what models I have and I can probably squeeze out 3000 if I add such things like fortifications and such but this is pure army so I left it out. I love how many HQs I've managed to get in, a seriously formidable array of characters you really do not want to mess with hahaha. Also note I've managed to get both the Heldrake and Forgefiend in, I decided to leave the defilers out of these lists but I may include them in future ones.

Ah hello and welcome back my disgusting cultist followers! Today's post will cover a more personal aspect...ARMIES! Yes I'm going to compare 5th Ed Chaos Codex to 6th with one of my Nurgle army lists, I sense that I will get allot more "bang for my buck" as I know that Marks have been significantly reduced which is lovely as Nurgle marks used to cost 50 points!!!!!

So here we go, 5th Edition list as follows:

Now by this you have all probably done the maths thinking "Wait he's got 2350 point army at the top of this list? The n00b can't add up it comes to 2244!!!!".

First of all...HOW DARE YOU CALL ME A n00b!!!! I shall send Krel round soon...

Secondly I've made a deliberate mistake as what I wanted to show you is the difference in points, between 5th ed and 6th ed this army list has a difference of 106 points so not bad, if it wasn't for the huge bump of the defilers I would have more. Some would argue that "But you don't have to take the power scourge?" yes but atm the thing comes with a big flail like device on the side where a flamer should be so unless I can somehow make you thing that its a flamer and not a flail then that's what I'm going to have to purchase! So that will change the way I use my Defilers drastically as I'll be wanting to use them more in battle.

Another thing I noticed is the lack of being able to give my Plague Marines Icons of Chaos, I used these to help my terminators deep strike in without scattering, making it easy to plonk them where I wished, these are now gone and I assume have been replaced with these Chaos Icons in the 6th ed book that give X mark Z icon to give more buffidge. Now as much as I like the extra buffidge I liked zero scatter ALLOT MORE!!!! But never mind Grandfather Nurgle will advise me on the best way to tackle this...

Back to the army subject, you might be wondering "Hmm but what would you do with those extra points Lord?" And you would be right to ask me of this because I have an answer...PLAGUE ZOMBIES!!! Yes with these extra 100 points I can have two 10 man squad of cultists as they are 50 points base for 9 x cultists and 1 x Aspiring Champion. What I can do with that is using Typhus' very nice new ability I can nominate both units to be Plague Zombies which make them Fearless, Feel No Pain and slow and purposeful. Basically nice cheap hardened corpses for absorbing basic fire :P

So the long and the short is for having an army that's now 100 points cheaper I've managed to gain TWENTY models and add them to the Nurgle cause. Not bad at all but we shall see on the battlefield.

Fellow loves of all things putrid and grotesque I am back again! If you have been following me on Facebook then you will know that I have finished my squad of Plaguebearers that I'm going to be using as Plague Zombies thanks to the new 6th edition Chaos Codex! Now the thing I was MEANT to do was take stage-by-stage photos of the minis and put up an in-depth guide on how I achieved the scheme.

HOWEVER I got farrrr too carried away (that and I think Krel was nibbing on my brain at the time) and finished the whole squad without taking any stage photos!!!!

So here I am at your whim to say I'm sorry that I have failed you all...BUT don't be so hasty to get out your various torture devices as I have prepared a kind of "mini guide" for you all to follow! So let's not waste any more time!

I will be basic with the layout, picture, and paints used for both minis and in brackets I will put down what stage to use them at.

Brrrrraaaaaiiiiiinnnnnssssss! Plaguebearers+/Plague Zombies (Part 1)

So here we are again with yet another painting guide for all you disgusting, putrid, vile pus-ridden corpses! But that's a good thing in Lord Nurgles' three eyes!!!

So in light of hearing about Typhus being able to turn cultists into "Plague Zombies" (I haven't had my codex yet but have been talking to Power Armoured Metal and picking his brain over it!) I had the idea of using the Plaguebearers as said zombies, they are perfect for the job so I took the recently purchased new box of Plaguebearers and put it all together (with a few tiny modifications) and started painting!

Since I'm in a good mood though, I thought you guys might want to know how I'm painting there horrific creatures up, so read on if you want to know more! If not then may a thousand Nurglings fester inside your bed for the rest of your waking days!!

This half is the easy part, you will probably have the whole squad to this stage in around say 30 solid minutes.

Ok so you will need the following paints for this half of the guide:

Ok so we start things off with giving the body of the mini with our Death World Forest base, don't worry about going onto stuff that isnt going to be that colour, we will cover that shiz up when we hit detail ;)

Next take your Nurgling green, then get a largish hard bristled brush. Then dip it in and scrape off the excess (I used newspaper) like you would when old skool dry-brushing, then give the mini a good heavy lashing with the thing! Don't be scared of it, its' only a plaguebearer! And if you glued it properly it should be able to take the hammering! You should have something like the picture on the right. >>>>

Now after this, take the Underhive ash and dry brush it normally, taking off most the paint, this will effectively highlight the edges, now you might not notice it right this minute, but you might be able to tell on places like the body and such. But it'll all come bouncing out when we have put the magic layer on (more of that later).

Hello to your my disgusting viewers! I'm back once again with another battle report from the Crow Valley Crusaders!

I arranged a game with Spade from the club to a 2000 point match with his orks (of which he has around 9000!) as I haven't played against Orks for a while :P.

Ok so here's the army lists:

Right, lets get started! Mission rolled was The Scouring, deployment was Vanguard Strike.
As there was so much going on and I took so many photos, I've decided to only report on points of interest within the battle, I would also like to note that even though the mission rules state we had to know what each objective was worth, we forgot and didn't find out until the end which made the game a little more exciting!

Ork deployment, so many orks...and two full squads and two dakka jets in reserve! Eep!

Chaos deployment, only reserves were Typhus & his Terminator guard.

Boomgun from the looted wagon opens fire on Ahriman and his Thousand Sons...

BOOM! Five of the seven get blasted!

Only to come back because the objective gives controlling players unit feel no pain :D

Ahriman and the Thousand Sons let rip with AP3 bolter shots and great Psychic energy...

Pop! Away go more of the green tide, regardless of their own pluses to saves from their captured objective however this is not the last of them...

Success for Spade as he gets his first dakkajet and Warlord w/ boyz into play, yay more orks for me aren't I lucky...

Dakkajet comes swooping in to pick off a few Plague marines...champion is saves thanks to the "look out sir!" rules, or shall we say "come 'ere you I'm not dying today!"

The Thousand Sons take stance ready for the next wave of deadly Orks to charge...

Not before the looted wagon gets to take another shot at them and take off another couple however.

The chosen get shot at by the Dakkajet, all to loose their champion to the fearsome red menace.

Plague marines and Chaos marines attempt at popping the red devill but their efforts are in vain with having to shoot at ballistic skill 1.

Another Dakkajet (pictured by the large oval base, had an unfortunate accident) come into play while the Boyz stampede in towards their Psychic quarry.

The looters from the bastion (pictured at the back of photo), take down a few Plague marines from afar, taking revenge for downed brethren!

CRUNCH! The Boyz mash right into Ahriman and the few Thousand Sons he has remaining, Ahriman utters a few words of power and his Black Staff begins to glow with Chaotic energy...

In one swipe he takes two Boyz down and their carcasses get turned to dust as the raw energy from Ahrimans staff takes their soul for Tzeentch, another Boy gets whacked by a Thousand Son marine.

It matters not to the hardened Orks as this merely makes them fight with more ferocity as they pile in and charge once again!

A great cloud of noxious gas appears as if from nowhere, the sound of a billion flies fills the already putrid air as Typhus and his Terminator guard arrive via deepstrike, right next to the Dakkajet!

It seems no matter what I do, the green tide just keeps coming, so relentless...

The Ork bastion w/ lootas fires upon the Terminators, the shots ping off the 2+ save armour with ease an the unit carries on.

The Boyz try once again to get the upper hand on Ahriman and his two marines, a vicious fight breaks out, clattering of choppas, knives and the occasional hum of force weapon echoes within the ruins...

More Ork casualties thanks to the Black Staff of Ahriman but this time btoh Thousand Sons go down, easily passing his leadership role Ahriman readys himself for a tough battle ahead. "The green scum will not take this relic! It belongs to Tzeentch!" He says.

"Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh! We iz gunna take dat relic and stuff it up 'yer arse ye fancy git!" comes from one Ork Boy.

With a single thought, Typhus casts spontanteous combustion on an unsuspecting Boy, he instantly pops and guts spill everywhere.

The squad turn to see their fellow Ork explode into a thousand burning pieces but before they can react another explodes, again this does not scare them and only makes them more determined!

It takes 4 squads to finally take down one Dakkajet as the other does a fly-by on one of the Defilers, only for its bullets to bounce off the heavily armoured beast.

A squad of Boyz makes a break for an objective, the few squads of Chaos marines spot this and attempt to gun them down, a few Orks get holes put into them but nothing enough to shake them off.

Zogwort screams "ERE WE GO!" and teleports to the other side of the battlefield, unfortunately the warp was not in his favour (obvoiusly as Chaos was attacking) and he instantly shatters into pieces! His squad of Boyz never materialised...

The final battle for the objective Ahriman is defending takes place! Both staff and choppa swing wildly through the air...

But with a few words muttered the Orks hear that humming sound and a great flash of light errupts from the Black Staff as Ahriman cuts down the remaining Orks in a sweeping advance.

"The Relic is mine! Now I can pursue the greater powers" he says.

And the greater powers come as he utters the incantation for the crush spell and fires it from his Staff at the Big Mek boy..

Unable to take such psychic energy the mek goes pop! And is never seen again...well except for the pile of ash left behind that is.

The Dakkajet, failing to penetrate the Defilers chaos armour makes a break for the nearest objective, just making enough distance to contest...BLAST!

The battle ends! At the end of turn 6 we rolled and the game ended there, we then took the objectives and tallied up the scores from each base. Not knowing what they were worth it could of swung either way but with me already having 2 points from first blood and slay the warlord, surely I had it in the bag?

NO!!! Defeat! Mine equalled to 4 leaving me with a respectable 6 victory points however Spade received a whacking 8! Besting me by 2! Dammit Tzeentch after all that and you couldn't of changed a few scoring objectives round could you!

The battle was a fun one and I'm glad we did it the way we did!

Update on projects and the next few weeks!

Hey guys just a quick update for you all.

I will be continuing on a few projects for the next few weeks so don't expect any finished photos any time soon, although I can tell you what I'm currently working on and going to be up until the new Chaos Codex is out:

Finishing off both sects of cultists ready for codex release.
Painting +/ greenstuffing the Hellbrute for the glory of Nurgle.
Re-painting both defilers, unsure if I should do both Nurgle or one Nurgle one Tzeentch.
Deciding if I should glaze the rest of my marines green and count them as captured Chaos marines from other legions or completely re-spray them all and re-paint them up in my scheme.
Getting round to finishing off the rest of my own terrain for the table.

The next few weeks will see me trying to get some of the above projects finished in time for when the Chaos Codex goes live. I will be buying it and I certainly will be getting some of the new models at some stage and Nurgling them up :P I will post up conversions + paint-jobs as and when I finish them!

Part man/daemon vs machine....A battle report of epic proportions!

Hello my minions! It is I yet again with another battle report for you all!
This time it comes from my local wargaming club Crow Valley Crusaders and a battle I had with one of their members. The people there were good to me and I had a good time battling it out with them! The match was around the 1570 point mark and it was myself playing Chaos Space Marines and michael (sorry I can't remember what they called you :P) playing Necrons...my favourite >.<.

Anyways as I forgot to get a copy of his army list I can only do mine and can only apologise in advance for any unit+/model names I get wrong on the Necron side, here is my army roster:

Also to note that any squad that can have a mark of Nurgle, has got a mark of Nurgle...naturally

HQ: Typhus
Troop: 2 seven man squads of Plague Marines packing a plasma gun each + Champions
Elites: Typhus' Elite Guard - 5 man squad of Terminators w/ Combi-melta, flamer, reaper auto- cannon, power axes, power maul, chain-fist and an AP3 tentacle (:P)
Draznicht's Ravagers - 6 man CSM chosen squad w/ 2 x close combat weapons, power axe, power maul, pair lightning claws and power fist.
Heavy Support: 10 man Squad of CSMs w/ 4 x heavy bolters
Chaos Defiler with all the free trimmings (close combat weapon and reaper auto-cannon)
2 x Rhinos to go as troop transport for the Plague marines.

Right, on to the report!

Ok so the rules were 5th ed style Annihilation setup (of which I won the roll and let michael setup first) but using 6th ed rules. This was for quick deployment and so we didn't get too confused as we are both still new to 6th ed. I setup on the left of this pic putting my Plagues both in Rhinos to drive them up the field into battle as fast as possible.

Here we have the mechanoid enemy, the great evil, the Necron forces had me a little scared I'll have to admit as I haven't faired well against them in the past (thanks to a friend called Squeak :P) but here you can see some Tomb spyders (middle left) and some warriors, a Triarch stalker, and some other units but I can't thin of the name sorry!!!

Some more pics of Necron deployment, I believe the unpainted finecast dude middle left is the warlord with his attached troops.

Ok so first turn I managed to steal the initiative from my opponent :P, so with that I stormed up the field bursting both rhinos at flat out 12", moving everything I could as far as possible, then the Necrons then returned with fire, killing a few Chosen attatched to Typhus. The Necron phase brought me his Tomb Spyders leaping over the building to face down Typhus and his squad of fresh Elites, all to be facing a full squad of Havocs!

Tank goes boom! With a nasty flurry of gauss fire one Plague tank goes down and clouds of burning wreckage and toxic fumes errupt from within as the squad quickly dive out from the downed vehicle before it possibly explodes, taking some refuge behind the blasted wreck as their Plague brothers come to the aid of their downed brethren to attempt to cover the flank.

My next turn sees Typhus' guard materialise from the warp just in time to get between the Spyders and their quarry, unfortunately they fire off their weapons but thanks to their advanced technology (saves) they come out unscathed, ready to launch their next assault.

The Plague marines still inside the active Rhino manage to block the flank to their putrid brothers and jump out from their vehicle all to be met with the Necron menace, they open fire and a few go down! However the undead nightmare just get back up to hail some fire back and wipe a few of Nurgles' fineest off the map...

While Typhus' chosen get vapourised by the Triarch stalker and the warriors, the Spyders launch the assault and jump toward my Defiler, which in honesty didn't do alot this game (this is why I have two out) but still it engages a clash that it cannot win, too many attacks and extra charge see the Daemonic beast go up in a big purple gas cloud and guts go everywhere as bits of daemon land on the battle field and the Spyders that just killed their prey...

The elite Necron guard come running in at speed and all the Plagues can do is fire wildly in panic at them, taking one down but there is little else they can do but brace for impact!

And with a mighty clash of power armour and steel the two groups collide, the Necron force attempts to mindshackle the marines but the vigorous hold that Nurgle holds over them keep them strong and they fight on, a guard gets taken down but is it enough to win the fight?

The second squad of marines that were saved from destruction by their comrades see the stalker and make a charge for it, all to find out their guns wont do a thing to it! Disastrous! And it gets them blasted down a peg or three :P

Meanwhile the Terminators shoot down more Warriors and the now enraged Typhus makes a break for the spyders, hoping to get revenge on them for destroying his dreadful contraption.

Nothing the lord and his troop can do but look on and move toward the Chaotic forces as they watch their guard take on Plague marines in bloody close quarters.

This was a defining moment in the battle, Typhus and his chosen go in for the kill, only to see the chosen get wiped from the board! This then leaves my main man, the most putrid of horrors, Typhus to take down a whole squad of Tomb Spyders, do able I will admit...however not this time, as I roll a 1 on his Daemon weapon and he stabs himself in the eye with his own Manreaper and kills himself! Giving my opponent more victory points and making Lord Nurgle VERY ANGRY INDEED!!

Demoralised by seeing their most mighty warlord fail in bloody combat, the Necrons seize the advantage and charge the 3 remaining Plague marines from my first squad, by this time I was loosing on victory points and was starting to think I was on the loose...

Until that is a few lucky rolls and hits sees my THREE Plague marines make the Necrons + warlord morale test and loose, then take them all down in a sweeping advance! Truly amazing work by these three and this put me into the lead on victory points! Lord Nurgle will surely have something in store for these three pus-ridden beasts.

After chowing down on Typhus' remains, the Spyders go into the squad of havocs, they try and fight back the charge by hailing them with bullets on the overwatch, however in blind panic nothing happens and they get met by the horrors of the Necrons. Meanwhile, my terminators make a break for the Triarch stalker in hope to do some damage to it...all to find they cannot penetrate its thick armour and shields! Oh why did my Chainfist termy have to die so fast!!!

A sneaky squad of what looks like warriors see a gap between the scenery and the wrecked rhino and attempt to sneak up on their unknowing Chaos target...

This is the last thing these two terminators are to see as they get destroyed by the Triarch and give the opponent another point!! All is indeed not looking well for Nurgle today...

The havocs clash with the spyders in a great struggle to gain some victory points for their master, and manage to take out one! However the superior weaponry of the Sypders (and all those claws!) allow them to mow down their quarry and get the squad down to just 5 marines!

The sneak attack did not go to plan as the Plagues take down the remainder of the Necron guard and charge down the warriors, locking them in combat, this is how this fight stays until the end, no points were won here.

And ding, ding goes the bell! I suffered a defeat of 5-4 in the end! Not bad as I have done far worse against Necrons in the past! I had a great time battling my opponent and hope to get revenge soon! Thanks for reminding me how nasty Necrons are!!

The Chosen ones! A painting guide!

Hello my fellow Nurglings! It seems people all over the web have taken quite well to how my new Nurgle Chosen from Dark Vengeance have been painted up and also now want to know how I did them! So here it is, a full list of paints and even a guide to how I did them!

So thats the full list of paints done! For conversions of what the Old paints that I used are in the new Citadel range, go to the Games Workshop Citadel Paints Conversion Chart and take a look, make sure you have a PDF reader installed though!

Right now that's out the way, time for a quick bullet point of how I did the scheme!

Base coat squad in Citadel Black Spray.
Give squad a healthy coat of Death World Forest.
Give squad a good dry brush of Underhive Ash.
Do all armour trims in Warplock Bronze. This includes any trim detail around things like Power fists and Sergeant gloves (to make them stand out a bit from the rest).
Paint all Boltguns + Pistols (including the bits of guns you can see in holsters) in Boltgun Metal.
Any chainmail you can see paint in Chainmail...obviously :P
Ok so for the "Loin Cloths" do a normal coat of the Calthan Brown and the once dried do a very light brushing of Snakebite Leather, this will bring them up to a nice looking leather effect, I don't like the sound of my marines wearing silly cloth bits so decided for leather :P
Right now we get specific, on Lightning claw marine, get the Knarloc Green and paint the grenades on his waist.
Next up for Lightning claw marine is the skull and bone on his chest, just simply put a coat of Bleached Bone on this, the wash later will do the rest.
Use Bleached Bone on any other bits of skull/rib cage/bone bits that you can see on the squad, I didnt do anything else to them, as described above I let my wash do the rest of the work.
Now we do the cloaks, I have given Kranon a Mechrite Red cloak with Nurgling Green detail, I painted the fur with a coat of the Calthan Brown and the claw bit at the end in good old Bleached Bone.
For Draznicht, I decided to give him a Shadow Grey cloak with Nurgling Green detail, this makes him stand out from the squad a bit more.
After this I did all the helmet eyes for the squad in Blood Red.
I did Draznichts' head in a lighter green, it's not on the list but I used Rotting Flesh to do this and Chaos Black for his eyes,
So now you should have all of them ready for the wash process, this is where the magic happens for my Nurgle Models. Take your Devlan Mud and give the whole squad a good hearty wash of it, let it dry off completely, then DO IT AGAIN!!!! Trust me it'll make them look nice and dirty :P but do take off excess, we want them dirty but dont hide that nice detail work you've just done :P
After the wash is dried off, get the Waywatcher Green and coat any of the melee weapons you can see in the squad, this helps give them more of a Poison/Nurgle feel :P
My final step is basing, tbh you can do what you like but for speed I just took my Lustrian Undegrowth texture paint and put a good thick coat of it on the bases.

And that's it! If you followed most of those steps, your squad of Chosen/Marines/whatever should look similar to mine! I use most of these paints and this very technique to paint all of my Nurgle models!

Feelin' green fingered...(Part 2)

Hello again and welcome to the second and last part of Feelin' green fingered, where I show you how to make an inexpensive forest!

Without any more delay I give you the lead up to the finished forest!

Ok so unfortunately we had to leave the PVA on the trees to dry overnight but it was worth it! The next morning you could pickup those suckers by the tree and they wouldn't come off! Our next stage was to get some Citadel terrain paint (or if you like mix some paint with some modelling sand) and painted round the bases, this not only helped the tree even more to stick but also hid those horrid roots we didn't like!

With that all done and dry, we proceeded to get the good old citadel Death World Forest base colour out and gave the edges around the sandpaper a good coating, this was so that any areas missed by the later flocking wouldn't look too out of place.

Next up was painting the sandpaper, now the best way to this (to make your paint go further) is go to your nearest artist/model shop and ask for a tube of Impasto-Gel, this is a special gel that goes with paint to make the paint go further without watering the paint down, which would loose the colour. The technique I used was the dabbing of the brush, I tried brushing but the sandpaper just ate it all up on the first stroke, so dabbing was the most effective!

After this we then took our good ol' trusty PVA, lined it around the edges where we painted green, and smeared it with a paintbrush. Then we sprinkled flock over it, unfortunately we ran out after the 9th base (our half board made ten bases) so I'll have to buy some more to finish the last base off. But you get the picture in this image!

Feelin' green fingered...(Part1)

*cough, splutter* no dammit Krel I told you I've had my medicine!

Oh hey yeah I suppose you want some news from within the putrid lair don't you? Well yes I've been busy! Making a forest!

Want to know more? Then fear not (or do, I would prefer that!) and I shall elaborate!

So I wanted a big old forest for my table, but also wanted to be able to spread it about a bit if required, so instead of going for the usual GW tree method, I decided to DIY it up and make a huge forest! So I bought 20 trees off a very good website (message me if you would like to know who I got them from), bought a large thin sheet of mdf and got to it!

First of all me and my ever faithful assistant (GF) marked out the squares we required using but a pen and long piece of wood, ready for the sawing. Obv the sawing part requires no photo but I will say make sure you have a suitable surface for sawing on or get someone older who knows what they are doing to do it for you!

Next up was texturing the base, which my GF came up with a brilliant idea of buying some coarse sandpaper, shredding it up and PVAing it to the bases! So we set about doing this, it requires alot of pva and patience!

Here's a pic of the bases with all the shredded sandpaper glued onto them

After which I then set about spraying the bases with Citadel Black spray, took about half a can to get a nice coat. And in the weather I had today it was dry in 15mins!

Next was gluing the trees onto the bases...to do this you will need the following: 1. A LOT of PVA glue. 2. PATIENCE OF A SAINT. 3. LOAD OF ITEMS TO PROP THE TREES UP WITH.
Due to the size of the trees, we had to use load of glue to sit them in and many different items to prop them up with!

We managed to get 10 bases all with trees on, I had a few spare from a kit that was too small for just on their own but with these it looks amazing!

And this is how we left it! Untouchable for at least 24 hours due to the amount of glue used! But even at this stage they look wicked! Cannot wait to get the bases painted up!

The Battle of Cwmbran - Dark Eldar & Grey Knights vs Lord Typhus' Bile Strike Squad

A putrid evening to you all! Another battle report for your puss-ridden eyes today!
Todays' comes from the Games Workshop store in Cwmbran, I dropped in for a random visit today to see if anyone fancied a quick match against the might of Typhus and his lowly minions, and low and behold two small humanoids stood before me, one was an Eldar boy but my accute chaotic senses were twinging, meaning it could only be a Dark Eldar :P, and the other...well lets just say even my shaded visor on my helm couldn't protect my diseased eyes from the light that poured forth from the slats from his armoured hide...yes Grey Knights my friends -_- haha.

Anyway all things aside lets take a look at my VERY quickly put together roster:

HQ: Typhus

Manreaper (no descrpiton needed, its THE manreaper)

The Dark Eldar player played Lady Malys, a squad of Kabalite Warriors and a Razorwing jetfighter where as his very wary Grey Knight counterpart took Castellan Crowe, a small quad of pleb knights and some sort of squad that could deepstrike, I am unsure what they were so I apologise if I rile any Imperial scum reading this :P (JOKES!!!!!)

ANYWAY! Let battle commence!

Ok so we roll off and Typhus gets to command his army, the Dark Eldar (DE) and Grey Knights (GK) attempt to steal the initative but and unlucky roll sees them sitting on the table edge as the forces of Chaos come toward them. This phase sees Typhus and his attached squad move straight up the middle of the field where as the second Plague squad go to flank the enemy round the ruined imperial structure.

A Plague squad flank the Dark Eldar and manage to thin the ranks with their bolters, the plasma gun misses whipping past the slender Eldar Kalabites. This turn also sees the DE and GK players move their turn of which Typhus' squad get thinned out a bit and the other Plague squad sees no casualties.

After a good exchange of fire in the allied side, Typhus successfully calls in support from his ship the Terminus Est and his elite squad of Terminator guard deeps strike onto the table, managing a direct landing in front of the DE and GKs. Preparing their guns for the next barrage of fire, but who will they go for? DE, the GK squad or perhaps Crowe (not in picture but off the the left of the GK). In more fights, Typhus gets within range of the GK squad, who fire off a Psychic shot, however thanks to the recently cast Telekin Dome, the shot bounces back and mortally wounds one of their own men!

Crowe suddenly feels the earth tremble beneath his feet as all 5 Terminators turn to face the armoured Imperial commander. Firing off every available weapon, Crowe soon kisses the realm he once knew goodbye and his soul is claimed for Lord Nurgle, good old combi-meltas :P This round sees a few more exchanges from both sides, Rocksteadys' terminators take a few casualties but manage to wipe out the remaining GK squad with some backup from the few Plague marines left behind.

The next few rounds got interesting, the De player managed to finally get the razorwing into play, which thinned out my Chaos army a fair bit, leaving just one Terminator, skilfuly staying away from the R-wings' arc of fire, he manages to charge into Malys where an epic confrontation is watched by both parties, happy to say that Malys took too much damage from that nasty power axe and goes down. Leaving the lone Terminator to come back towards the GK players newly Deepstruck squad...

After watching the destruction of the last of the DE infantry, the free squad of plague marines come to the aid of Typhus, only to find a Razorwing coming at them at ear shattering speed...

The next few fights go well for me, the GKs fire off a load of shots, only to have the bullet ping off the bile-spewing armour of Typhus, who attempts to flame breath the squad, only to find that merely heat the armour of the squad as they laugh it off...obviously they are not familiar with the Manreaper as Typhus, fuming that he is being mocked charges into combat with the remaining GKs, a wild combat ensues, and with 9 attack purely off Typhus, 3 of the 4 man squad goes down, leaving just the hammer knight. This fight goes down in history as my best, the hammer doesn't even get a look in as Typhus' superior wit out matches the holy annoyance, I roll a 5 and a 6 for attacks giving me 11 poison (4+) power weapon (AP3) hits that can also force weapon coming right at the poor chap, he is vaporised and all that is left is the smouldering boots that he once stood in, Typhus takes these for his personal trophy stash.

Leaving us with just the Razorwing, after being mocked by the GK player at how "Typhus can't get me as I'm a flyer" he seems to forget about the small squad of Plague marines lurking not far from his fighter, I bring this to attention although I doubted it would do alot as its been pretty untouchable, however I fire my shots off and low and behold the bolters ping off the advanced fighter armour however I still had the Plasma to fire...both hit, no gets hot...roll to wound (I needed 6s)...TWO 6S! Thank god I was in rapid fire range! The damage from a previous battle meant the Razorwing had wrecked from glancing HP losses and goes down, making me the victor!

All in all it was a fun match, I think we may of missed a few rules out but hey it's the having fun that counts and we sure did have some good fights!

Dark Vengeance, the Tutorial battle...with a twist

Hello and welcome again to another blog from your favourite worshipper of our great Lord Nurgle! This blog will cover the "How to Play" booklet found with the Dark Vengeance (DV) box set! I took the Chaos team (obviously) and i got my girlfriend to use her Dark Eldar instead of the Dark Angels as we didnt have them glued up, it was hard to try and match the wargear of the angels but we did our best, here are the Rosters:

Without further delay I shall now give you the battle report of the tutorial!

The Tutorial tells us that the chaos player is to go first (goodie goodie!!!!) so after setting up the armiues to how they are set in the book, I move my units to how they reccomend...

Sect Anarkus takes the flank and makes a mad dash for the Squad of Kabalites while Kranon and his squad of chosen make a break for Archon, Mortis lets out a mighty roar and starts his blind dash towards his frail looking enemy and Sect Tetchvar sits and line up their autoguns ready for the attack.

Sect Anarkus gets into range and lets out a mighty blast from their flamer...melting 3 Kabalites, Anarkus seeing the glorious ashes of his enemy float away in the wind then lets out a warcry and his Sect prepare a charge!

Kranon's Chosen go for the run towards Archon but apparently one had to stop and tie his bootlace, so they only made a short dash of 4" where as Mortis goes full out at 6" and seems to get confused as which enemy too sink his claw into. Sech Tetchvar goes to fire at the Kabalite squad, all to either fall short of their target or miss completely! This will not please Lord Nurgle...

Sect Anarkus make their required charge, but before they can start running, the Dark Eldar open fire with an Overwatch move, merely slowing down the chaotic advance...

A mighty clash of what looks like an angry mob hit the Kabalites...they put up a valiant fight, managing to despatch a cultist with their awesome speed and skill, however its 7 vs 10 and the chaos have the upper hand...

Sect Anarkus comes out victorious from the battle! A few minor cuts and bruises are sustained but none the less the majority of the squad is still there, they managed to cut down an entire squad of Kabalites!

With his squads Morale at an all time high, Anarkus calls upon his squad to turn and face their next foe...Archon, the squad isn't quite sure about this, Archon is a very powerful leader of the Dark Eldar but after their last fight, what have they got to loose! CHARRRRGEE!!!

That Ends the Chaos Turn

So my Girlfriend starts her assault upon the Chaos Army, angered by how easy her Kabalites were despatched (explained later) she brings out her reserves, not requiring to roll for them coming on (very odd I know but this is how the tutorial goes), she deepstrikes her Wracks and they scatter 7" behind a barricade, safe but nowhere near the battle! Her Reaver jetbikes come onto the edge and roar into battle going straight for Sect Tetchvar!! Archon, seeing his Squad of best Kabalites go down, screams with anger and charges at Sect Anarkus!

The Reaver jetbikes line up their shots from their advanced vehicles, mortally wounding one Cultist, the other two unfortunately missed. Cultists don't tend to sit still...

Urien wastes no time and goes for the charge at Mortis...not realising he isn't equipped with the right tools to take down a rampaging possessed dreadnought...surely Mortis will be adding another trophy to his rack?

Urien and Mortis exchange blows, Urien has the speed advantage but surely Mortis can win based on the sheer immense damage? Well little did Mortis know that Urien can nullify his melee attacks, and with Mortis missing one, Urien nullifies the other, rendering Mortis' assault useless. Urien on the other hand, cannot do anything to the rampaging behemoth, so this assault remains locked...

The final assault is to be made! Archon charges Sect Anarkus and the two forces collide, Archons skill, speed and quite frankly intelligence are immense compared to Anarkus' squad of plebs...we shall see.

His skill is shown as he easily takes down 3 Cultists in one beautiful pivot, now comes the counter attack...

And what a counter it was! Sect Anarkus' number make up for everything yet again and with Archon not making his saves he goes down! Leaving the squad in massively high spirits! Nurgles' Special brew is on Anarkus tonight my firends!!!

As a final move they consolidate towards their next target, the Wracks in their transport...however their move is in vain...

As that is the end of the Dark Vengeance tutorial match.

And this is how the board looked after the "match" had finished.

Ok so here's the situation, as I said earlier we didn't use the Dark Angels due to the lack of them being assembled so had to very quickly put together a very dodgy looking Dark Eldar army, and YES I know alot of the Dark Eldar didn't use/have many of their funky shiz like Drugs and pain tokens but we were trying to match the Wargear of the angels as much as possible to make it as fair as we could...turned out though that without their funky shiz, the Dark Eldar took a damn hard beating and if I'm honest, with their full loadout they no doubt would of wiped the floor with the Vengeance chaos army, but that my putrid amigos is a battle report for another day perhaps...

So here's my brutal and honest opinion of the How to Play book. Yes its very good for complete and utter n00bs of the 40k gaming genre, and with this specific box set it works very well. However me and my girlfriend both think the layout could of done with a bit more structure.

If you are a veteran player of the game, seriously disregard this booklet, it has nothing new in it, apart from some rules for the armies.

As for you nurlings of the game out there, my honest advice to you for playing the game? Go to your local Games Workshop and ask for an introduction using your Dark Vengeance army, they do this for free and are full of knowledge on how to play the game! Other than that, get playing! The more you play, the better you get!
