New Seersucker Crib Bedding from Annette Tatum

I'm dying over this new seersucker bedding from Annette Tatum. Seriously what could be more cute for summer? What I love most about it is that it isn't basic white. The small stripe patterns and light texture make the sets more interesting than your average basics. It is available in seven color combinations for boy and girl.

New Customizable Artwork from Minted

Minted, the quality unique custom greeting card company has come out with a new line of customizable art prints. Think Etsy without all the research! I honestly love all of their designs, and unlike Etsy all the prints are available in sizes from 8"x 8" up to 44" x 44" (if you want to make a true statement piece). Too bad framing a 44" x 44" is going to cost you a small fortune.

One of my favorites in the children's selection which I want to get for my daughter's room now is this Initial Wreath design. Maybe I like it because it reminds me of her birth announcement?

My son's would read: Dinosaurs, Pirates, Cars, Cookies n Cream, Swimming, Beach, Surboard Cookies, Bacon, I might need to get this one for him.

New Devon Collection from Newport Cottages

I'm so excited for the debut of the new Devon collection of nursery furniture from Newport Cottages. It is sophisticated and cool and can easily work in a traditional or modern style nursery. It looks like a blend between the Oeuf Sparrow crib and the Dwell Studio crib with clean lines and a Shaker-style. Except this one comes in over 15 colors and can also be custom ordered in any Benjamin Moore paint color (if you want to go crazy with color). I'm personally digging this orange. One of my favorite aspects of Newport Cottages furniture is that it is all hand made to order out of hard woods right here in California.

Bunk Room Friday - Orange Bunks in the Mountains

After a week of blogging hiatus I leave you with an energetic and unexpected bunk room designed by Philip Gorrivan for a residence at the Montage in Deer Valley. He took a chance and painted the bunk bed orange and it turned out fabulous!

Happy Mother's Day

I spent Mother's Day weekend in New York with my lovely sisters and mother. The weather was beautiful and we had an amazing time exploring, shopping and eating our way through the city. Now back to California to be with my babies and wonderful husband. A special thank you to my in-laws for helping take care of the kids this weekend. I couldn't ask for a more wonderful family!

Fantasy Bunk Bed

I'm designing a room for a client right now who ideally wants a full bed under a twin bunk. I completely understand the functionality of a piece like this but I usually don't like the way they look because they generally feel lopsided. I did though come across the Fantasy Bed while looking for alternatives and I think it is stellar!

If you have a wall that is at least 105" long, it is a great compromise and solution. Granted it comes with a hefty $6000 price tag. If you have a good carpenter he can probably build you a custom one for right around that.

Gilt has a great Imaginative sale on today on two pieces that I have been coveting on Pinterest lately. A table cloth dollhouse ($85) and an instant doorway puppet theatre ($65). Such cute ideas which make great gifts unless you want to keep them for yourself!

High vs Low - Star Sheet Sets

I love a good star pattern somewhere in a boy's room. Serena & Lily came out with their star pattern for a sheet set years ago and it is still a hit. $98 for a twin set and it is now available in aqua and green.

Now Pottery Barn has jumped on the wagon and has their own less expensive Organic Star Sheeting version available in red or navy for $58 for a sheet set. Now this set is also "organic" for an added bonus, but many purists argue that once a fabric is printed on it is no longer truly organic because of the dyes in the fabric.

My Daughter's Birth Announcements by Paper & Ink

While editing through the photos taken of Patton's nursery I realized that I had forgotten to show you all how her letterpressed and hand embellished birth announcements came out! I was so happy with the custom work done by Brenna Berger of Paper & Ink in Manhattan Beach. I'd recommend her to anyone looking for a customized unique announcement, invitation, or logo design. Her work is just beautiful and she is very meticulous.

Since Patton's nursery is painted a soft peachy pink we found a textured Italian paper which had a similar undertone. We chose letterpress because if I could, I'd letterpress everything! And to soften it up Brenna hand-painted the leaves in a coral watercolor and added berries in gold pen.

And since I love photographs, I had Liz from Life Iz Photography take the photos of my baby girl and we printed them on linen-textured paper to flow with the design. Thank you both for creating a special piece for my family!

I'm going to apologize for my absence last week. Had some wonderful friends in town staying with us with kids my son and daughter's exact age and that paired with trying to get some client work done put the blog on the low end of the totem pole. But after a week of hitting the beach, museums, Disneyland and some adult time in Los Angeles...I'm back.

Remember using these reading boyfriend pillows when you were younger? A great solution for reading in the bed if you have wooden headboard. I'd venture to say they would be perfect to use to support a baby who is learning to sit and needs some cushion around them in case they fall. (A fancy bumbo.) Anyways, they are on sale today along with a slew of very colorful decorative pillows from Hillary Thomas on One Kings Lane.

Palm Beach Inspired Shared Room by Andrika King Design

Remember the sneak peek I gave you all a few weeks ago? Well here are the rest of the photos of the Palm Beach inspired room in Manhattan Beach. The two sisters who share this room wanted something pink, green and bright. Once we found out inspirational colors and fabric, the design just came together. I think we achieved a playful yet sophisticated look which the girls can grow into.

The focal point in the room is definitely the wall of drapes. With a piece like that you don't need much more artwork. The only other items on the walls are family photos, a bamboo mirror next to the dresser, and a custom posting board.

If your family loves horses and you have a daughter, you HAVE to find a place somewhere in your house to use this paper above. Lulu DK for Schumacher

As mentioned a few weeks ago here, the complete line of new fabrics from Lulu DK for Schumacher are now available for viewing and ordering! The collection featured eight printed and seven embroidered cottons in primary and pastel hues. Her main sources of inspiration for this line were nature and her children.

I actually already have samples of most of the fabrics and have been scheming of ways to use them in a few new projects for clients...mainly in playrooms right now. But I wanted to share some of the photos with you all which are also available on the Schumacher website. I had the pleasure of meeting Lulu a few weeks ago at West Week here in Los Angeles and she is as charming and beautiful in person as rumored. She definitely has an artist's view on life and design and has such a carefree attitude on blending work and life. Unfortunately none of these prints are available as wallpaper...yet...but there are in work for 2013. If you have to have them on the wall, you can always upholster, it will cost you an arm and a leg but it is charming and very traditional.

Subtle Elephant Nursery Designed by Sissy & Marley

My contemporaries and friends over at Sissy & Marley in NYC e-mailed me over a few photos of their newest completed project. The room for Gabrielle features so many wonderful elements. First off it is I love the subtle elephant theme, second it has such a peaceful vibe because of the neutral colors and third the closet is to die for! And as an added bonus it is eco-friendly. They did a great job accessorizing the room with wonderful unique books, toys and pillows. Enjoy!
