Perfect Girl's Desk

There are so many things that I like about this room featured on Amber Interior Design yesterday. A bold wallpaper, chevron rug, the pink and orange combo and to top it off a custom desk and custom posting board. Don't' you just love the shape?

For the next nursery I design, I'd love to have a carpenter build a piece like this to be used as a changing table, then when the little girl grows up it is a fabulous desk. Talk about a piece growing with your child!

John Robshaw has just come out with a Jr line of bedding (although their adult bedding sets work wonderfully for children's rooms). Here is a quick look at their two introductory sets!

A Perfectly Natural Playroom by Jute Interior Design

There is something so perfectly understated yet perfectly designed about this playroom by Allison Davin of Jute Interior Design.

The room along with the rest of the house was featured on Remodelista last week and I've been dying to share it with you since I saw the post. What is not to love? Yes those wicker baskets for bookcases might not be the most practical use of space but don't they look interesting and different?

Bunk Room Friday - Speilberg's Nautical Nook

Talk about a nautical bunk room fit for the stars. This fabulous room was designed by Naomi Leff for Steven Speilberg in his East Hampton home. I'm nuts about the colors in that compass rug and the rich stain in the bunks.

Childrens Rooms by Jeffers Design Group

I have a new design crush to share with you today. It is the fabulous residential interior design team from the Jefferes Design Group. I would kill to work with them for just a day. They are based in San Francisco but work on projects all over the US focusing on Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and the Napa Valley area. They have been featured in all of the major shelter magazines many times.

The Jeffers Design Group has many beautiful projects which include children's spaces that it was hard to select my favorite but here you go:

The small scale horizontal stripes in this boys room makes this space unique.

I love everything about this nursery

A game/rec room for the teens in the house.

A nautical-inspired room with a fabulous red built-in desk.

Having some fun with color and seating in this playroom.

A stylish place to do homework (killer globe pendants).

You would never have guessed that this was a basement playroom.

A pretty and feminine place for homework.

Daybed and wallpaper - a favorite combo. Those birds are so sweet!

Tone on tone pink with a hint of yellow for this girl's room.

Introducing Franklin & Ben Nursery Furniture

A new furniture company, Franklin & Ben, is making waves in the children's furniture arena. They are based in Los Angeles and their vision is to create a brand that references history by revitalizing traditional craft.

I'm gushing over the new Copley set designed by Jennifer Delonge (above). I'm a sucker for rink pulls and the two tone design makes the pieces extremely unique.

The Liberty set is a fresh take on the classic Jenny Lind style. You really can't go wrong there.

New Artwork for Miss P's Nursery

Yes Miss P's nursery is almost finished (about time right!). The newest piece to be completed is a piece of artwork created by her auntie (my sister). I'm so impressed by her work and can't wait for the piece to get here so that I can hang it above her crib!

Window treatments will be installed in two short weeks then viola!, we are complete and will share!

Gently Used Netto Changer & Oopsy Daisy Artwork For Sale

I'm in the process of changing over this nursery into a toddler room and we are basically changing out everything except the window treatments and carpet. Soo some great pieces must be sold. First on the list is the Netto Collection Changer/Bookcase. I really love this piece because it is truly a bookcase with a changer option (removable tray). It would look wonderful in any room, for a teenager or adult. This client does not have room in her home for it so she is selling. It originally retailed for $1400 and we are selling it for $750 as it is in great condition and barely looks used. This Loft Collection from David Netto is no longer available so you could consider it a collector's item.

Dimensions: 36" H x 41" W x 20.5" D and it is located in Manhattan Beach, CA (we will not ship this)

Next up - Oopsy Daisy Prints

We are selling them as a set of three - Elephant in the photo above and the two birds below. Dimensions: 18" x 24" and the retail for $119 each, we are selling them for $180 as a 3 piece set. These can be shipped for $25 (since they have to be packed appropriately).

And take note, when her big girl bed gets here we will be selling the crib below to match the bookcase/dresser...stay tuned and let me know if you are interested in the crib in a few weeks (she isn't ready to get out yet).

New European City Highlights Wallpaper

I'm swooning over this new wallpaper by Clarke and Clarke. What is not to love about all of the European trip highlights just perfectly sketched in just the right shade of pink. Nothing like getting your kid ready for studying abroad at an early age. Forget about just a girl's room, it would look lovely in a power room also.

Bunk Room Friday - The More the Merrier

Hey all, I apologize for being MIA this week. My computer crashed a few days ago and I'm in the process of recovering files...etc. And since my clients come before you all (sorry) I'm working on them first. But I wanted to leave you with a gorgeous bunk room image for the weekend:

I'm not completely sure who the designer is (it says Jennifer Buck but I can't find the link). Anyways, I love the use of space and the way they have the bunks on almost every wall and the two large ottomans in the middle. Wouldn't it be fabulous if the wall that we can't see were sliding glass walls that opened up into a backyard and pool? Image via Pinterest of course

Mudroom Envy

Nothing like starting off the new year with some resolutions including getting your life organized. I personally think that every home (if you have space) should have some sort of mud room or location where you can take off your dirty shoes and jackets. Before kids it is not necessarily a necessity of after them..definitely!

Since I don't have space in my home for a mud room, I have complete mud room envy and dream about having one someday. To see some of my favorites check out my latest post on Project Nursery and my Pinterest Mud Room Board.

Toddler Room Unveiled - by Andrika King Design

To start off the year I wanted to share a some photos of a toddler girl's room I finished in Manhattan Beach a few months ago. This is the family's only daughter so we definitely wanted a fun and energetic feminine flair that she could grow into.

The focal points of the room are the custom cherry blossom tree mural and the Pine Cone Hill embroidered bedding. The client wanted something girly yet very playful and what is not to love about flowers, trees and birds?

To save space in the room we had a custom corner unit built which functions as a bookcase and a desk. Although she is only four she now has her own little space to color away from her brothers.

I'll have a few more rooms to share with you all in the upcoming weeks. I'm a little behind on getting things photographed, including my daughter's own nursery. Poor girl finally got her own room, we are just waiting on the window treatments then we will be done, typical right? A designer's own child's room is last to be completed!

Coming this spring...the new J'Adore crib from Bratt Decor.

I've gotta say, I like the new oval shape. The only problem with a shape like this and the Stokke Sleepi crib is that there are not many bedding options out there so you have to get custom bedding made. How do you feel about oval cribs?

New Serena & Lily Products - Top Five

I received my new Serena & Lily catalog over the weekend and I'm really loving some of their new products and finds. My top five are:

These Rope Storage Baskets in orange:

you need at least one pop of orange in your house somewhere this year.

The James, 3 Piece Crib Set.

I always love a good bold stripe and having it run horizontal gives it more of a unique punch, plus those crab sheets are adorable.

The Elsa Stool:

You always need an extra place to sit in a nursery or children's room. I'd put a couple of these in a playroom!

The Ellie Side Table, so cute next to a glider. (note that it is short and small)

The Kyoto Pillows

I could easily design a room around these babies. I love the hand painted watercolor quality of the fabric.
