Microsoft (s MSFT) is buying clean energy to help power a data center for the first time. On Monday morning the tech giant announced that it has entered a deal to buy 110 MW of wind energy from a wind farm that will be located just outside of Forth Worth, Texas, and will be connected to the power grid that supplies power to Microsoft’s San Antonio datacenter.

The wind farm — called the Keechi Wind project — will be owned and operated by RES Americas and will go under construction next year (with power flowing in 2015). The farm will use 55 wind turbines made by Vestas and Microsoft is buying the power through a 20-year contract called a power purchase agreement.

Microsoft is purchasing the wind power using money that it’s set aside through a program it created to put a fee on carbon emissions internally. For the carbon-based power…

and I took a trip to New York City recently on our usual starving-artist-style, shoestring budgets!

We are so grateful for wonderful friends who offered us beautiful, cozy accommodations and a delicious breakfast!

We stopped by ABC Home which must be the biggest indoor bazaar in the world.

Have I said that I love Paulette Cole? Paulette, wherever you are, I love you.

Next time I am going to bring my suit case and move in like Corduroy the bear in the children’s book by Don Freeman.

This was our outrageously sweet and adorable waitress!

Meet Project Green Challenge’s extremely cool founder, Erin Schrode!

Contestants who complete the 30-day Challenge can apply for the Challenge Finals. Ten finalists will be selected to participate in Green University, a two-day eco summit held in California this December. Students will be flown to San Francisco where they will learn from esteemed eco leaders, present experiences from the 30-day Challenge, and work together to create unique platforms for social action.This new slate of projects will be implemented by Teens Turning Green and youth nationwide in 2012.
