Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

No I am not quoting Paula Abdul's '80s hit Opposite's Attract, but rather quoting from the anecdote about the frog trying to climb out of the well. It's in reference to how arduous a task it is for the frog to climb out by needing to take two steps forward and one step back. The focus is not the difficulty of the climb, but the fact that he is all the time progressing forward. Much like my efforts for the upcoming Ravintolpäivä.

I have been spending the past week slaving over the hot stove trying to nail down all the recipes for the upcoming Restaurant Day event here in Finland. So far I have two menu items and one drink all set for next Sunday!

We're back baby! NY Styles with a Twisted Finn Part Deux! After much deliberation we have decided to return to RavintolaPäivä with our own restaurant version yet again. So pull out your calendars and mark off August 21st as busy, because you will be. Busy enjoying great food, company, music and hopefully weather!

Almost immediately upon my arrival to Finland, I began craving the foods that I was accustomed to eat on a regular basis back in New York. This is in no way a complaint about the foods available in Finland, but more of a common problem faced by most non-natives living in foreign lands. I am sure I am not the only American to scour the streets of Helsinki looking for a decent pizza or sandwich shop that would satisfy my homeward cravings. If I ever find one, I'll let you know.
