Kimi and Grant are married, what a beautiful outdoor wedding! Such a hot day with a hot bridal party! All the vendors did a great job putting it all together so seamlessly: the flowers were vibrant, food delicious, the cake a hit (Vanilla Bean, my personal favorite), the worlds most adorable flower girl and ring bearer! The music was pumping with a bride who knows how to work the dance floor, all under the shelter of large tents and Italian lights! All these details fell into place smoothly, thanks to the Brides "Fairy Godmother"! After the perfect wedding day, this new husband and wife jetted off on a private plane! Wanted to tag along, but I thought that would be too creepy! Congratulations Kimi and Grant, thanks for letting us share your special day!

Valentine's Day - Quick & Inexpensive - Memories

Growing up my mom always decorated our kitchen table for all holidays, with a new outfit, treat bags, yummy goodies, and a little gift that always makes us feel special. I remember trying to go to sleep the night before but being too excited to see what was going to be on the table the next morning! I don't know how she did it with two children because I'm having a hard time balancing it with my one.

It is one tradition I really wanted to make sure we started with our family too. Now that Finn is two years-old and getting old enough to catch on - it time to step up our parenting/traditional table decorating skills.

If you're a mom like me - quick and easy is about what you have time for but you want it to look like you are someone that is on top if it! Today I'm sharing some of my quick and easy mom tricks to feel like you're one of those parents that has it under control without having to have the time to pull it off.

Tip 1: Grab your cute kid or pet.
Tip 2: Grab a camera
Tip 3: Grab your cute kid/pet and your camera

Tip 4: If you don't have the time to edit an image or the software use a piece of paper to personalize your message without the extra time and fuss.

Tip 5: If taking this photo el solo of a child or pet or (God bless you) many children and pets have treats on hand.

Quick Gift #1
Time: Two Minutes unless you print it at one hour place then one hour and two minutes. You can frame it too.
Cost: $10 max for printing and framing.

Quick Gift # 2
Time: 1 Hour due to doing a quick card design and taking the photo. (not including pick up of photos)
Decoration: Cut out hearts and hang them on the window for a quick themed backround.
Cost: $12.87 to print 100 of them at Costco with hour printing.

*Also note my son is still in his PJ's but it was the best way to keep him in a good mood and get the shot.

Newborn - Bakersfield, CA - Beautiful Friends

Good friends are hard to come by and one thing I really treasure are the relationships I have and I feel so lucky I get to photograph and document my friends especially when there are cute babies involved! Katie and I met when we were in Junior High at Hume Lake Christian camp and the first time I met Katie I was amazed by her beautiful smile that she still has today! The best part about her smile is that she passed it on to her beautiful daughter Olivia and I hope their new daughter little Miss Alice will have it too!

Katie is just one of those people that has room for everyone in her heart and it doesn't just stop with Katie.... her whole family is fun to hang around! The only tricky thing about Katie is if you are talking to her on the phone you really don't know if you're talking to her or one of her stunning sisters or even her mom because they all sound exactly alike but it'll be a great conversation nonetheless.

I'm so happy for Katie and Alex to now have two beautiful little girls! Olivia is now a BIG sister! Welcome to the world baby Alice we are so excited you are here!

Brides Across America - Little White Dress - Bakersfield CA

We were so excited when we got the call to be on the Stars and Stripes Planning Committee with Little White Dress and Fairy Godmother to put on the Brides Across America Event! This event at Little White Dress gave away over 20 designer wedding gowns to military soon-to-be wives and we were so honored to be able to be a part of it! We were able to meet some amazing brides and my heart was warmed by their love stories, relationships while being deployed, and what life would be like as a military bride. I'm so thankful for the sacrifices they are able to make and I felt really special to be able to spend the day with them!

Newborn - La Habra Heights, CA - Globetrotters

This family has a beautiful love story! Stacy's parents were in Africa on a Safari and met Graham who was working on his PhD in Elephant Communication and leading safaris far from his UK home. They told him if he was ever in California to look them up and two weeks later he did! Stacy came walking down her parents stairs and it was love at first sight! Fast forward to a wedding, moving to Africa, living in the UK, and then home to have baby Samantha two months early!

Spending time with them during the session I decided it's very true what they say, "God only gives you what you can handle," because these two were such relaxed parents with their baby you wouldn't know she had a premature birth. Looking at how healthy Samantha is, it is hard to tell that she was only 3 lbs. and 1 oz. when she was born. They seemed to be expert parents instead of newbies!

Welcome to world Samantha and I know you'll have so much fun travelling it with your parents!

Newborn - Old Times - Good Times

I love cute babies but they are extra special for me when they belong to a good friend! In college I was really fortunate to have some amazing friends and even more lucky today that we still are friends! Danny, (the Daddy Below) always made me laugh until my side hurt as we were trying to put together the ULV Campus Times paper and he made my work study hours in the Communication Department fly by so fast it was like I wasn't even working.... mostly socializing.

Danny was the responsible student and I was usually working on photo assignments, attempting to draw the next cartoon for the paper, or most likely playing cards. Danny was a few years ahead of me and a great person to learn from and try to emulate. I would pretend to be doing something productive and just marvel at his next column or listen to him tell a simple story in the most articulate, expressive, and observant way. Plus he's a great editor and is most likely editing this while he reads it! He's like a living AP Stylebook (a book for journalist with punctuation rules we live and die by... well not me.... serious writers).

He is a very talented writer, has a wicked sense of humor, and has always had a great way with words.... hence his stunning wife! Now he's all grown up, married, and is a Dad! During the photo shoot I was thinking this is so different than us in college hanging out at Nick's (a bar close to our dorms) and dreaming about where we would be to today (or just being crazy college kids). Today Danny lives in Orange County and is kind of a big deal in the Public Relations world and is still a friend that always seems to have it all together. He has such a big heart and I'm so thankful he found Heather to share it with and now little Murphy to spoil.

This first photograph is a picture of Danny when he was a baby and then we tried to redo it with baby Murphy! This sort of thing makes my job so fun!

Engagement - Fairy Tale Day - Fun and in LOVE

I LOVE to personalize all of my sessions, especially doing something I haven't done before. When Whitney called and asked me to shoot their engagement session and mentioned they LOVE Disneyland I was all in and ready to go on an adventure with my new friends!

I met Whitney and Sebastian while shooting their friends Jeff and Brooke's wedding and we hit it off dancing at the reception. The only thing that makes me sad about their Hawaii 9-10-11 wedding is that I can't be there! If there were ever a time to be in two places at once to shoot weddings that would be the date but I'm really excited for Erin and Joe's big day in San Diego!

I did break one rule for Whitney and Sebastian..... I'm not a fan of roller coasters but since they are so amazing I got on one with them for my first (and possibly only) roller coaster shoot! It was fun and I learned something new.... wait to pull down the safety bar until after you turn around! Good thing I travel with my favorite Chiropractor or I would have been in trouble!

Whitney and Sebastian, thank you for making my job so fun!!! Congrats you two!

Ps. Ps. - To the prints almost at the end in black are cards they ordered to send out to all of their guests! What a great idea and thank you Whitney and Sebastian for letting me design them.

Ryan and Finn had so much fun with their Father/Son date! I did make them work for me! They happened to be in front of the line and we were running out of light so they saved a tea cup for Whitney and Sebastian and just in time before the sun went down! Thanks boys for your help!

Engagement - Hot for Teacher - Speed Engagement Session

A teacher and police officer walk into a classroom and fall in love! When I first met Anne I just happened to be stopping by The Little White Dress and in walks my friend/client Irish (mother of Sam the Great) and she introduced me to her new soon-to-be, sister-in-law Anne.

Anne was so sweet and let Irish and I give our honest opinions of how the dresses looked and which one we liked the best! Anne was beyond nice to entertain us and since then I've noticed that's just Anne! When I talk to Anne on the phone I can tell she's smiling and when she talks about Casey I can hear her smile getting even bigger!

Casey and Anne challenged me to do my first 20 minutes engagement session and I love a challenge! I felt like I was on a game show and I enjoyed every minute photographing these two love birds!

Casey and Anne, in just a few weeks it'll be your wedding day! We're so excited for your Pismo Beach wedding!
