Wickelbluse Nr. 126 aus der Burda 4/2012

Nachdem das letzte "Nähcamp" leider schon wieder eine Weile her ist, sollte ich doch wenigstens mal vorstellen, was ich in der Zeit geschafft habe. Viel ist es nicht, eigentlich nur ein Teilchen, aber ich bin auch ohne Erwartungen an die Sache gegangen und habe mich ohnehin viel mehr auf das Plaudern und Kochen und Zusammensitzen gefreut!!

Als ich die Burda 4/2012 bekam, sprang mir direkt Nummer 126 ins Auge: Eine leichte, schnelle und flatterige Sommerbluse, eher ein Bolero. Den will ich haben! Und der dünne, halbdurchsichtige Punktestoff, der seit Jahren in meinem Regal darbte, konnte endlich zum Einsatz kommen.

Da ist sie - sieht eigentlich total unspektakulär aus, fast langweilig. Und das soll eine tolle Form ergeben? Naja. Noch war ich skeptisch. Und habe erstmal den Schnitt konstruiert, es gibt nämlich keine Vorlage auf dem Schnittbogen dazu. Wo ich schonmal dabei war, habe ich gleich alles mit Nahtzugaben aufgezeichnet und ausgeschnitten, welche allerdings auch erstmal berechnet werden mussten.

Et voilà, da ist sie, die fertige Wickelbluse! Burda näht am Halsausschnitt noch einen Knopf ein, den brauchte ich aber nicht unbedingt. Entweder geknotet...

...oder gewickelt, ich find sie schick!

Allerdings ist sie bereits weitergewandert, jaja, ich hab sie einer Freundin geschenkt :-D Und nähe mir selbst einfach noch eine.

Rhombenisi...ido...ko...do...kaeder. Verspätetes vom Osterweihnachtshasen

Bei Nachtdrossel, aeon und mir werden jedes Jahr Weihnachtsgeschenke gewerkelt. Allerdings sehen wir uns nie zu Weihnachten... was auch den Geschenkeentstehungsprozess etwas hinaus schiebt... was mir gar nicht mal so ungelegen kommt. Diesmal lag unser kleines Nähcamp kurz vor Ostern, also wurden die Geschenke quasi vom Osterweihnachtshasen gebracht.

Für Nachtdrossel gab es diesmal ein Mathe-Shirt, was ich mit Transferfolie bebügelt hab. Wer erkennt das abgebildete Netz?

Richtiiig, ein Rhombenikosidodekaeder! Na das war doch jetzt einfach. Nicht so einfach war das Ausschneiden mittels Skalpell, weil ich leider nur eine große Schneidematte habe, die auf dem Boden liegt. Danach hatte ich Rücken. Und Knie.

Für Coco gab es in erster Linie Kaufgeschenke mit dem Thema Küche (vielleicht erinnert sich jemand an die Topflappen, Küche scheint irgendwie präsent zu sein - Präsent, oh ein Wortspiel...), dazu noch aus den Resten des Topflappenstoffes zwei Topfhenkeltopflappenüberstülp...dinger. Weiß hier jemand, wie sowas in Wirklichkeit heißt? Leider habe ich davon kein Foto gemacht, aber eventuell kann ich ja noch eins nachreichen! Für alle, die jetzt immer noch nicht wissen, was Topfhenkeldingsdinger sind.

Classic Remise (ehemals Meilenwerk)

Sorry, zur Zeit ist hier nicht so viel los. Außerdem bin ich mit dem Blog-Layout nicht mehr zufrieden, vielleicht liegt's auch daran...

Heute war der erste Frühlingstag in Berlin (jippie!) und der letzte Sprachschultag (och...), jedenfalls war ich nachmittags in der Classic Remise und hab ein paar Bilder gemacht. Für Kritik bin ich offen! :-)

"Wickeltasche" als Auftragsarbeit/"Diaper bag" as an order

Für eine Freundin meiner Schwester habe ich eine Art Wickeltasche genäht, die sie um den Arm schlingen kann und bei Bedarf auch als normale Tasche mit Schulterriemen tragen kann. Die Klappe ist abnehmbar (mittels Klett auf der Rückseite) und die D-Ringe bieten verschiedene Einsatzmöglichkeiten. Innen ist ein extra Fach und ein Gummi, hinter den man größere Sachen klemmen kann. Da sie mir außer Maßen nicht viele Infos gegeben hat, hoffe ich natürlich, dass ihr die Tasche gefallen wird!

A friend of my sister asked me, if I could sew her something like a diaper bag that has a strap to hang over the arm. I didn't know exactly what she meant and she didn't gave me any hints, which colors she likes or dislikes. She told me, that she likes the clothes I sew for my sister and so she will as well like the bag. The only thing she gave me were some approximate measures I adhered to.

The bag has a rectangular basic form and an easily removable flap (by hook and loop fasteners). I adjusted the measures she gave me a little bit because of the fabric print; I tried not to cut the fleurs de lis.

The shoulder strap is removable, as well, and fixed with carbines and D-rings. At both sides, I sewed a small pocket with fold over elastics at the top.

At the front and the back there are D-rings in the middle of the bag to put on ...everything with a carbine. Especially it should be used for the hand/arm strap.

In the inside, there is a fabric separation pocket and an elastic band to hold several bigger things, such as a towel (or my flashlight bag).

I tried to made the bag variable for every field of use because I really can't stand things that are only for special applications. Things you spend money for and then use it just once or twice, because you do not need it in your daily life.

A good thing was that I didn't had to buy ANYTHING new, because I had it all in my storage boards.

She gets the bag on friday, and I'm so curious if she likes it!

Leider komme ich im Moment gar nicht zum Nähen, es gibt also wenig zu zeigen. Aktuell blogge ich viel für den Plätzchen-Adventskalender auf dem Charlottenblog und demnächst geht auch der Reiseblog wieder weiter (Oslo, Trondheim und Tromsö warten!). Aber es kommen wieder produktivere Zeiten. Ich arbeite sporadisch an einer Tasche für eine Bekannte und sammle schon Ideen für mich. An Weihnachtsgeschenke habe ich noch nicht gedacht, da fällt mir dieses Jahr gar nichts Kreatives ein :-( Dafür hab ich wie jedes Jahr zwei Adventskalender gebastelt, einen für meine Freundin und einen für meine Schwester - leider auch nicht so stark bebildert...

Das wars erstmal an Updates von mir, bleibt dran!

Import Shop Messe Berlin 2011

Today I payed a short visit to the import shop fair here in Berlin, http://www.importshop-berlin.de/. I didn't expect anything special, on the website there were pictures from past years with clothes, food, DIY stuff, home decoration and jewellery. I hoped to find some hair accessoires, but not a chance...

I have to confess: This fair wasn't worth the ticket. Even if it was quite colorful, but there were strange people around.

The shop where I took the soap pic smelled like a Lush shop (I really can't stand Lush!), but it was looking nice. When I was taking the next photo, the shop owner of the glass stuff was asking me if I am spying for the Chinese competitors to produce cheap copies... ha, haha... poor copies of glass stuff that already looked like a poor copy?!?! Sorry for that.

Seen one drum, seen them all. Same goes for the African shops... I thought I was on a poor copy (this time not a Chinese one xD) of the Carneval of Cultures.

Quite a nice place to rest, but little bit too esoteric...

The only good thing was a French shop, selling really high quality japanese style clothes (not the low asia market stuff). I bought some kind of obi there, but unfortunately they still don't have shops and are yet touring along fairs.

Mäppchen für Kleinkram / Small zipper case for trivia

Wer kennt das nicht... in der Reisetasche purzeln alle möglichen Kabeldinger durcheinander. Kopfhörer, Handyladegerät, Kameraladegerät, Taschenlampe und so weiter. Abhilfe verschafft ein "Mäppchen für alles". Ich hab es sogar gefüttert, ohne dass man die Nahtzugaben sieht, da sie nach innen gewendet werden. Es ist noch nicht perfekt, den Reißverschluss werde ich beim nächsten Mal ganz anders machen und er muss auch nicht so weit ums Mäppchen herum gehen - oben aufmachen und reinwerfen reicht eigentlich! ^^

You all know this, I guess... in your travelling bag, everything with a cable is jumbled. Headphones, charging units of mobile phone and camera, flash light etc. What helps, is a small zipper case for all trivia. I sewed it with lining without visible seam allowances, because they are turned inwards.

It can still be optimized: It would be sufficient if the zipper starts at the sides, because it's easier to open the case at top and simply throw everything into the case.^^

Badeponcho mit Öhrchen für einen neuen Erdenbürger / Bathing poncho

Vor einigen Tagen gab es zwei wunderbare Anlässe zum Feiern: 1. Ich bin jetzt Dipl-Math und 2. Es gibt einen neuen Erdenbürger: Mathilda, das zweite Kind von Freunden. Natürlich habe ich mich gleich voller Elan an ein kleines Geschenk für die Eltern gesetzt und dabei kam ein Badeponcho heraus. Er ist etwas größer geworden, als ich geplant hatte, so dass die kleine Mathilda ihn erst später tragen kann, dafür dann aber auch ein paar Jahre länger! Der Schnitt ist einfach. Er besteht aus einem großen Rechteck in ca. 80 x 130 cm und einer Kapuze mit Öhrchen sowie diversem selbstgemachten Schrägband.

Some days ago, there were two wonderful occasions to celebrate: 1. I am now graduate in mathematics and 2. There was a child named Mathilda born, the second child to friends of mine. For her, I sewed a cozy bathing poncho. It is a bit larger than planned, so little Mathilda has to wait until she can wear it. But I think, it will fit her up to 6 years.

It's not as pink as it seems, more like lavender. The pattern is really easy, it's just a rectangle of 80 x 130 cm which is folded in the middle. Here, I cut in 25 cm along the fold and some cm down for the neckline and sewed a hood with cute ears.

The bias tape around the hood and the poncho I made by myself. The letters for the name were first cut out of paper, then copied on the fabric and afterwards cut with a little seam allowance. The seam allowance was ironed around the paper letters and the letters were sewed onto the poncho, so there was no need to serge the seams.

I hope she and her parents will like it, though she has to wait a while until she can use it...

PS: Did you notice the funny coincidence between math and Mathilda... :-D

Für aeon haben Nachtdrossel und ich ein Geburtstagsgeschenk vorbereitet. Es besteht aus 2 Teilen, Teil 1 stelle ich hier vor. Da aeon es noch nicht erhalten hat (ich mit dem Bloggen aber nie warten kann :D ), darf sie natürlich niiiicht diesen Beitrag lesen! Zuerst kommt daher das übliche Spoiler-Foto.

For aeon's birthday, together with Nachtdrossel I sewed a present for her. Part 1 is presented here and because aeon didn't get it yet (but I can't wait to blog it), she is NOT allowed to read this post :D Therefore, the first pic is just the usual spoiler pic:

Nachtdrossel and I sewed something for her kitchen, which has a green wall, just as green as the fabric. We both sewed a baking glove and a pot holder. Nachtdrossel bought two different (but matching) fabrics and the thermal fleece and sent half of it to me, but I still don't know how her part of the gift looks like.

I hope, she likes it. Each side of the glove (and the pot holder) I sewed with one of the two different fabrics. Additional, the bias tape is self-made from the fabric with the small mushrooms. The glove is quite small, but I think, it will fit for her. I am looking forward to hand it over to her!!

Maxikleid from Burda 7/2011 103B

Heute hatte ich endlich eine Idee für meine 5 (oder mehr?) Meter bedruckten Stoff vom Türkenmarkt. Naja, ich habe höchstens 1,2 Meter davon verbraucht... aber es ist ein Anfang! Schon lange schwebte mir ein langes Maxikleid vor und dann habe ich in der Burda 7/2011 das Kleid 103B entdeckt. Es fällt übrigens klein aus... aber Jersey verzeiht sowas ja halbwegs. Außerdem habe ich den Schlitz an den Seiten 10 cm weiter zu genäht - das war mir dann doch etwas ZU freizügig. Da ich eben erst heim kam, sind die Fotos nicht der Hit, aber ich habe es heute genäht und direkt getragen und deswegen ist es mein MMM-Beitrag!

Today, I finally had an idea for my 5 (or maybe more...) meters of printed fabric from the Maybachufer market. But I used not more than 1,2 meters... Since many months I wanted to sew a maxi dress and today, I found dress no. 103B in Burda 7/2011. The pattern is smaller than usual, but with Jersey, it's okay... Additional, I closed the vent at both sides 10 cm more - it was a little bit TOO sexy. I just came home, so the pics not that good, but I sewed and wore it today, so it's my contribution to the MMM. Leider war ich nur kurz bei Schloss Lichtenwalde, außerdem war das Wetter schlecht, so dass ich nur wenig Bilder gemacht habe und nicht alle davon vorzeigbar sind.

Unfortunately, I couldn't spend much time on Schloss Lichtenwalde. The weather was bad, too, so I took only a few photos and not all of them are presentable.

Der Weg einer Freiheit bandshirt transformation

Das Shirt hab ich schon vor Monaten (oder einem Jahr?) gekauft und umgearbeitet, aber bisher noch nicht gebloggt. Da ich es heute den ganzen Tag getragen habe, ist dies mein Beitrag zum MMM. Das Shirt ist aus einem XL-Männershirt gemacht, ab und zu trage ich es auch als kurzes Kleid. Die Ärmel sind in meinem Schnitt direkt angesetzt, so dass ich keine Ärmelnähte habe. Am Ende hab ich die Ärmelenden umgeschlagen und festgenäht. Im Winter hatte ich schonmal ein Bild davon gemacht, deswegen der Schal :-)

Though I transformed this shirt from the band "Der Weg einer Freiheit" some months ago, I still didn't show it in my blog. And I didn't take a "before" photo...as usual. I was wearing it today, but only at home, so this is my contribution to the MMM. The other's works are to be seen here.

It was a men's XL size, so the length is okay for a short dress. Often, I wear it with leggins, but today with an ordinary jeans. The pattern with the sleeves was cut directly out of the original shirt, so the new sleeves have no seams. Afterwards, I rolled up the sleeves and sewed them.

In our darkest hour

... you should go shopping. Yeah, it's easy (sometimes too easy!), just some clicks and it comes directly home to you. But it's different from "true" shopping, for me, this is going outside, spend some time in small and pretty clothing shops, touching the fabrics, having a talk with the seller, feeling gorgeous with two or three big and rustling shopping bags. Like a winner. This is the real shopping feeling.

Still, it's easy to shop online. The shops often have a wide range of all styles of clothes, shoes and accesssoires. 1000 shoes at one glance. This would never be possible in an ordinary shoe shop. You can't touch the materials, but you can drown in the vast number of possibilities. This makes online shopping often as exhausting as real shopping - and sometimes just as unsatisfying.

So many people are thinking "oh, it's cool, if it doens't fit, I can send it just back" and this seems to be less challenging than to go back to the shop, maybe discuss with the seller or feeling guilty for whatever reason. But they forget to send it back. Or they missed the deadline. Or they are not sure whether they like it or not and think about that for one day, or two, or three... and then they forget to send it back.

Online shopping is challenging, and most people haven't even realized it. Did I tell I like challenges? (Guess you know already, that's why I studied mathematics...)

For me, there is no darkest hour but 24 darkest hours every day. Jeans? Black. Shoes? Black. Dress? Black. Combining black clothes is much harder than combining some colored things. Every style and fashion magazine presents you ideas for combining clothes, but when you want to combine the same clothes in black, it doesn't look good or stylish. You have to pay more attention on textures and details. So you have to be creative on your own. Challenging! Now summer says good-bye and fall is coming, so my outfit would be perfect in these days. As well, I urgently need new clothes, especially for the colder days. I wasn't shopping since months due to exams, job, Diploma thesis etc. :(

Shirt - mint&berry
In fall, the shirts with the long sleeves attrac my interest. Often it is too cold for t-shirts, but too warm for t-shirts and a wool jacket... So here, I could wear the shirt together with the vest. The design of the shoulder part is flattering and highlights a small waist.

Vest - Dept
For me, the only season to wear such a vest instead of a jacket is fall, or as well the summer's end. The collar keeps the neck warm enough to leave the scarf at home.

Belt - Morgan
Even if this outfit does not require a belt, I would wear it over the vest.

Boots - Seven Seconds
I am only 1,60m tall, therefore I like heeled boots. These ones have a treaded sole (important if it's slippery outside) and a wide shaft for my strong calves. It's hard to find good looking boots with a wide shaft, it often seems that they are produced just for grannies...

Bags - CK and Boss Orange
Normally I am only wearing a belt bag (this one: outdoor belt bag) to all my outfits. I don't want to carry anything useless with me. Therefore the small bag from CK attracted my attention. When I am travelling only for a few days, I take an additional and bigger bag with me. I don't like the look of most of the travel bags and sport bags, so I am using a bag like the one from Boss Orange.

Now I have a good mind to go shopping...
How do you think about "my" outfit?

PS: No, my blog won't become a pure fashion and style blog. Never! There are too many already out there...

Auf zwei Hochzeiten tanzen

Vor einer Weile habe ich tatsächlich auf zwei Hochzeiten getanzt - allerdings an zwei aufeinander folgenden Tagen. Beide Male habe ich das gleiche Outfit getragen, davon ist nichts komplett selbst gemacht, aber vieles geändert. Das Kleid stammt ursprünglich von Promod und sah ganz anders aus: Das Futter (und damit das ganze Kleid) war durchsichtig und bräunlich, am Oberteil waren ganz komische dreieckige Träger. Ich habe das Futter entfernt und ein neues Futter eingenäht, ebenfalls habe ich die Träger abgeschnitten und ein Gummiband an der Oberkante eingenäht. Meine Kette hab ich selbst gemacht, da ich nichts Schlichtes für den Hals besaß. Das letzte Bild stammt von einer Einwegkamera, aber man sieht Frisur und Style recht gut.

"Auf zwei Hochzeiten tanzen" means "to run with the hare and hunt with the hounds", but directly translated it is "Dancing on two weddings". And that's what I did some weeks ago. I was dancing on the wedding of one of my best friends as witness and the other day on the wedding of my former collegue just as a guest. Therefore I was wearing the same outfit two times.

I bought the dress at Promod, but I had to transform it a little bit (unfortunately, I forgot to take a "before" picture as usual). It had spaghetti straps with some ominous triangles and the whole dress was transparent, even the lining, which was light brown/nude. So I cut off the straps and the lining and sewed a new lining. At the top of the dress, I used an elastic band.

The flower clips are from Claires, bought by chance just some days before the weddings. The belt is from Promod as well.
Did I already tell you that I like these colors? :-D

Apart from the shoes, the rest of the styling was fixed. I have been looking for black pumps with cuff (I possess similar ones in green) and found them at Tamaris at the end one or two days before the wedding. The cardigan is from H&M and well-known, I guess. It has no clasp so I added three press buttons.

The rest of the flowers were clipped into my hair. I braided a so called "Ährenzopf" (don't know what's it in English) and it kept its shape very well until the end of the day. The funny thing was, that I didn't know that the bride of the first wedding also wears a braid... but to the other side of her head!

The last pic was taken with a single use camera during the evening of the first wedding, but you can see nearly the whole styling.

I had a great time both of the days, but it was really exhausting to meet so many new people and to smile and make small talk all the time.

Celebration! 100 followers / Trip to "Siemensbahn"

Herzlich Willkommen an meinen 100. Leser! Eigentlich wollte ich diese Grenze mit einem Tutorial oder Give-Away feiern, aber das kam jetzt doch schneller als erwartet, ich hab noch gar nichts vorbereitet! Aber keine Sorge, da kommt noch was. Zuerst gibts hier noch einige Fotos von meinem Ausflug mit Letty zur Siemensbahn, einer stillgelegten Bahnstrecke, die leider auch überall abgesperrt ist...

Hooray! Welcome to my 100th follower (and the other ones, too). I thought about celebrating with a tutorial or a give-away, but since I didn't expect that this would happen that soon, I still have nothing prepared. This will follow within the next days, I guess, so stay tuned! :-)

At the moment, here are some photos I took on a trip with Letty to the Siemensbahn, an old disused railroad track. We couldn't get closer to the railroad area, because it was mostly locked (and there would have been too many people watching us :D ). All the photos are edited and I am sorry for the quality-loss by downscaling.

T-Shirt transformation: Celeste bandshirt

Bandshirts kaufe ich immer als großes Männershirt, um später ein individuelles Shirt oder Kleid für mich daraus zu machen. Das Celeste-Shirt lag seit Monaten unberührt im Schrank, so dass ich jetzt endlich etwas draus machen musste. Leider ist es nur eine Männer-S, daher ist es zu kurz für ein Kleid und ich musste ziemlich viel anpassen, um es doch noch tragen zu können. Daher ist es jetzt eher ein Longshirt geworden. Anscheinend ist es jedoch weniger provokant als gedacht (zumindest in Berlin), als ich Einkaufen war, hat mich nämlich niemand komisch angeschaut... Aber morgen ist ja der Papst in Berlin...

If I buy a t-shirt after a concert, I always take a big men shirt. I don't like the girly shirts, they are often not fitting, too big or the fabric quality is low. The prints are not nice and they are too expensive. Besides, I like to transform my t-shirts into unique shirts or dresses.

So did I with the Celeste bandshirt, which was lying untouched in my wardrobe for months. Because I didn't get an XL, but only a men's S, it was not long enough for a dress, which was really annoying. Now, it's more like a long shirt. In the neck, you can see how I had to part the shirt and use pieces out of the sleeves because I didn't want to use another fabric. I tried to do this in a symmetric way, so that it looks more or less intended.

What I like most is the front and the print of the shirt. I have been food shopping with this shirt and nobody was looking at me askance. I suppose, that here in Berlin, it is not as provocative as I thought...

Hey, wait, tomorrow the pope is visiting Berlin...

Tutorial for sewing the fabric folder cover

Hier ist mein erstes Tutorial für eine Ordnerhülle, die ich für eine Freundin genäht habe. Bitte teilt mir mit, falls irgendwo Fehler drin sind oder es an einer Stelle nicht verständlich genug ist!

Here comes the tutorial for my fabric folder covers I made for a friend. It is my first tutorial, so please tell me if anything is wrong or not clear enough.

	Determine the size of the fabric for one folder. I added 6 cm at top and bottom and 12 cm on the left and the right.
	Before the following steps, all decoration should be appliqued. Unlike me, you could/should iron the fabric... In case of thin fabric, you could duplicate it as a did (only in the middle where the folder's back shines through) or duplicate the whole rectangle. Then hem the fabric rectangle completely with bias tape.
	Place the folder again on the right side in the middle of the fabric.
	Wrap the fabric around the edges of the folder as shown. Fold the fabric at the corners so that the bias tapes meet. Mark the corner and the meeting points with a pen or something else.
	Unwrap the folder, fold out the fabric again and connect the previously marked points (highlighted by the green arrows).
	Fold the fabric again along the marked line and sew, do this for all four corners. Additional, you could apply an elastic band in the middle to fit the cover closer at the folder back. You should check the correct fit of the cover now.
	Now it's time for some extra decoration. I added a place for a label as well as a band to get the folder easier out of the shelf. In the interior, I appliqued an elastic band to use it as a penholder.
	Now your new fabric cover is ready to use! Enjoy, nyhet.

Zum Geburtstag von Krissie (morgen^^) habe ich vier Stoffhüllen für dicke hässliche Aktenordner genäht. Krissie, du solltest also genau hier aufhören zu lesen!! Ein Tutorial dazu wird folgen.

The following items are a birthday present for my best friend (Hasiiiiii!!) Krissie, who was born on September, 17th in the 80s. So if you, Krissie, didn't receive the package yet, you are not allowed to read this entry!!

It's all about man's best friend and helper...

...the bias tape foot! (What else?) It was really helpful, I have been sewing some meters of bias tape quickly and with only one seam. Totally, I made four matching folder covers for Krissie in red, white and black together with this really great doggy printed fabric. Did I already mention that I am absolutely in LOVE with these three colors?

One cover contains a penholder of elastic band. Additional, the cover has an elastic band in the middle to fit closer at the folder back. It is possible to label the folders, herefore I used red tulle I found in my shelf with the fabrics.

If she arranges the folders as I did, the doggies at the folder backs will fit together and walk in a line :-D Hopefully, the present will go down well with her.

I would have loved to keep them with me...

Ich bin nicht untätig, nur schwer beschäftigt. Als kleines Intermezzo habe ich vor kurzem wieder ein paar Lätzchen für Freunde genäht. Also, für deren Kind, nicht für sie selbst...

I am not lazy but very busy. Sewing the baby bibs for friends (not for themselves but for their baby...) was only a short interlude.
