On November 19 2010, almost 6 years ago, 29 men were killed at Pike River Mine. Their deaths were completely preventable and no person or organisation has ever been held responsible. There has been no justice for the 29 men who remain in the mine.

There is 13 percent left of 2016. In New Zealand we have a pay imbalance of what men and women are paid. On average across our society men are paid 13 percent more than women. So today is symbolic of women working for free for the rest of 2016.

Information released this morning by Statistics New Zealand shows that New Zealand is getting no closer to achieving pay equality between men and women with the average female wage 13.6% less than what men receive.

In real terms this means that unless meaningful action is taken it will take over 110 years for Kiwi woman to be paid what they are worth; the same as men.
