We live in a time where there is an increased emphasis upon a casual, relaxed approach to God. How then do we reconcile the myriad of divine articulations as to how he is to be approached and worshipped? And what is to be made of our guilt if there is any deviation from what he has revealed? In this study of the guilt offering we learn of God’s desire and means for perfect holiness in the lives of his people.

How can a Holy God permit lawbreakers to enjoy the blessings of his presence? On what basis may worshipers enjoy God? The Sin Offering answers these types of questions in Leviticus 4 & 5. As we study Leviticus we are amazed how God expresses, with vivid clarity, the gloriously perfect work of his Son, the Lord Jesus. In particular here as the ultimate Sin Offering we see him as the superior priest and sacrifice. He is ultimately the exclusive basis for enjoying God.

Introduction to Leviticus

The Book of Leviticus shows with gracious clarity how a holy God allowed his people to enjoy his presence. The book serves to emphasize God's holy character and his requirement that his people are holy. Ultimately, Leviticus points forward to how God dwells with his people through the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. In addition to providing background of the book, this sermon provides five reasons why Christians should study Leviticus.
