Failing with Success University

I joined Success University a couple of months ago in hope that I’d be able to quickly build my downline and start making some decent money. The truth is, it never happened. I was able to enroll only 1 new member myself and, of course, I am not making any money.

But I am not ready to call the quits yet. Strange, you might think. Well, it is really not that strange. I just never put any efforts into trying to make it work. I never did any promotion of my RideMoney.com site, I did not write a single article and posted it in ezinearticles, goarticles, and etc. article directories.

From this day on, I will be writing articles and posting them to the above mentioned article directories. I will submit my RideMoney.com site to a couple thousands directories, and do other promotion. I already purchased and installed the window banner on the rear window of my car. I hope that I’ll be able to get a signup or two from it. I ordered 3,000 business cards just for the Success University venture and I’ll start giving them away…

I really believe I could make this work. I love the ideal behind Success University. I’ve been downloading and listening to the instructional audio for quite some time and I love it. The ideas you can get just by listening to those recordings are priceless.

So, even though I am currently failing with Success University, I hope I can still become quite successful with it.

Such as life

I’ve been neglecting my blog and all other sites for quite some time for one simple reason - I’ve had so much on my plate and I just could not handle it. In short, my marriage came to an end but with the twist.

My wife was diagnosed with BP, for those who do not know what BP is - BP is a bipolar disorder. Basically, it is an illness that results in a person not being able to distinguish between the reality and the fiction created by her ill mind. The biggest problem with BP patients is that they do not understand that there is something wrong with them and refuse any kind of treatment.

So, my wife was getting those manic episodes every spring for the last 3 years. The episodes lasted for 4 and more months and afterwords she would go into deep depression state. I’ve been with her all that time - taking her to a hospital, caring for her, dealing with police, children services (we have a child).

Last spring, during her manic episode, she basically started sleeping around and making me aware of it. Well, that was an end of the marriage for me. In December of 2009 she called the police and filed the assault charges against me. Basically I was kicked out of the house, separated from my child, etc. I hired a criminal lawer and fought the case in court. I was able to negotiate a deal with the crown procecutur - I attend the anger management classes and the charges against me would be completely dropped - there will be not a single trace of the charges in my file. So, I agreed.

I am back.

Hi folks,

I have been very busy lately and completely neglected my blog. By neglecting my blog I broke the most important blogger’s rule - the rule that says that the blog neeeds to be updated regularly :) Anyway, I finished my second masters degree and would now have more time to spend on my online business ventures.

I am pretty sure most of you have heard about sucess university. I’ve been ignoring this opportunity to improve myself and to earn some money while doing it for well over a year. Well, last week I finally decided to sign up with the success university. Luckily, I signed up using the link of one of the members of Jason Cardamone team. These guys are great. They helped me set everything up and offered one on one coaching - Jason himself exchanged several emails with me explaining the basics of how the things work. Also, because Jason’s team is one of the fastest growing teams around, they already signed up six new members under me. I am truly impressed with how they organized things.

The success university is a place that is filled with audio presentations on various topics. One can find presentations on topics such as self improvement, diet and fitness, finances, marketing, motivation, and more. I already listened to a couple of audio presentations and liked them a lot.

Online education (online education is sometimes called distant education) has proved to be a very convenient way to upgrade the current skill set or to earn new credentials. I myself am a student at Denver University. I am working towards the Masters Degree in Information Technology with the security concentration. The program is an online program and I love the convenience of it.

There are a number of places where you can study online. The Chartered Institute for Professional Management is one of such places. The online, self-study business management courses offered by CIPM allow you to get a solid skill set required to become a successful manager. The courses offered provide the sufficient depth and breadth necessary to build a solid foundation of general management concepts and skills. In total, they offer twelve dynamic certificates to help develop skills in business management, leadership, business management training, business education, and more.

This study program is only available to members of CIPM; therefore you will need to become a member before you can start taking the courses. Also, you will need bachelor’s degree from a university or approved institution or you would have to have a minimum of five years of supervisory/managerial experience to qualify.

Warning! Be careful when selling domains

I’ve spent the last two hours reading a thread on the DigitalPoint forum about a guy/group of guys who were scamming people out of the domains names.

Here is the summary of how the scam works: let’s say you have a domain name for sale. Someone makes you an offer and pays you with PayPal. After you received a payment you push the domain to the buyer’s domain registrar. The moment the domain transfer is complete, the buyer makes a PayPal claim and reverses the transaction. As a result, you are left with no money and domain.

Making a PayPal claim is quite useless as only the transfer of physical goods is covered under PayPal policy. The domain registrar would not be of a big help either as they were not involved in a transaction.

It appears that the scammers use GoDaddy registrar to make this work. I have no idea why GoDaddy is better for scamming than other registrars but no other registrar was involved in this type of scams so far.

So, when selling domains do not use PayPal. Use other online payment processors like escrow.com or moneybookers.com or any other that guarantee that the payment would not be reversed once made.

Problems with my dedicated server

My dedicated server has been taken offline at around 11 AM yesterday because of the multiple spam complaints received by the hosting provider.

Here is what happened. One of my sites llfk.com is a short url redirection service that allows anyone turning their long urls into short ones (pretty much like tinyurl.com). Someone (I actually know who but will not be posting any names and web site urls here) used the service to create short url and used in in mass mailing.

So, after around 40 SPAM complaints, my server IP addresses were blocked by the ISP and it took more than 24 hours to get out of the mess and lift the ban.

I am very angry at what happened and most likely remove the short url redirection service from llfk.com. I am not making enough money from that service anyway.

Our hectic lives

I have been very busy during the last couple of days and did not have time to post in my OBlife.com blog. I am working towards a masters degree in Information Technology with security concentration and it takes huge amount of time completing all the required assignments. Just today, I finished and submitted two essays around 1,000 words each.

A couple of weeks ago I entered a contest and yesterday I received a notification that I actually won the contest :) I will be getting a free 99$ WordPress theme. I really look forward to getting my hands on that theme as I need to create another blog. Thanks to Sean Oneill for hosting the contest.

I got sick.. again. Actually, this never happened to me before. This winter I’ve been sick three times during the last two month. First I got a flu, then a stomach flu, and now it looks like I got a flu again. I feel like sh…t; the brain does not work, the whole body hurts…

Traffic generation techniques that work

Write and submit articles to article directories. This is a great techniques that not only brings traffic, but also builds back links to your site. The articles have to be unique, interesting and submitted to multiple directories. I am testing the services of an article submission company right now. They claim that they submit an article with two links in the author box to 865 different article directories. The cost is reasonable and I expect a large number of back links to be registered by search engines. If this submission would be successful, then I would repeat this process at least three to four times a month.
Use answers.yahoo.com to your advantage. It is very easy to get registered with answers.yahoo.com. Once registered, you would be able to answer questions that other folks post and add links to your sites in the body of the answers. I am getting good traffic from answers.yahoo.com.
If your site is related to video, then create an account on veoh.com and start posting comments. Include links to your sites in the comments you post. This would give you traffic plus back links. Just be careful and do not overdo it. If you post too many links/comments at once then your account will be deleted.
Create a video about your site or service and post it on YouTube.com. You will get good traffic and strong back links. One of my websites got PR2 within a month from the date I created it after I uploaded several videos to YouTube.com. Hint: when writing a video description, make sure to include the url of your site on the first line.
Post in forums and add links to your sites to your signature. I am getting a couple of hundreds visits from forums.digitalpoint.com a week alone.
Post quality comments on other peoples’ blogs. This approach would give your traffic and a huge number of back links.
Submit your site/blog to directories. Do not do it yourself as it takes a huge amount of time. Use one of many directory submission services on forums.digitalpoint.com. Just yesterday I submitted my OBlife.com to 1,100 directories for just 18$.
Add a bookmark button to each page of your site.
Create custom 404 pages. Most of my websites redirect to the home page when 404 page is requested. Thus I do not lose the visitor, visitor gets to see my website instead.
Create an RSS feed and burn it with FeedBurner.
Add a “tell-a-friend” form to your pages.
Use social bookmarking sites to promote your pages. I am getting hundreds of visitors a day from StumbleUpon alone.

There are many more techniques for driving traffic to web sites. I will mention them in my next post.
