It’s definitely that time of year.  Yeah, wedding season is here but also the time of year where my hair turns into a poodle! I bought 1980’s hair rollers to tame this mane and get some volume but by the end of the day it looked like Simba in his teenage years! Next time, I’ll just go real 80’s with a crimper and a teasing comb just for added awesomeness and a throwback to childhood.

For the first time in years, Pat and I have no plans for a vacation this summer. Whomp whomp! Since our house is on the market and we are looking high and low for a new place to call our humble abode, all traveling is being put on hold until…who knows when! This is beyond depressing for me. I feel like I need a beach, a Mai Tai and some anti-frizz serum in my life ASAP! First world problems, they’ll get you every…single…time.

That’s okay though, this weekend we are diving into everything again real quick! We have 2 engagement sessions and a wedding. I’m getting really excited to use my creative brain at max power for 3 days straight….just don’t bother me on Tuesday when I will need to be yanked out of bed by Pat.

Oh wait, that’s every morning.

Somehow, some way, I turned 30 last weekend! How this age came so quick, I have no idea! One minute you think you’ll be in your 20’s forever and the next minute you have a 3 in front of your age. Everyone says 30 is the new 20 and I really hope it isn’t! Looking back at 20…yeah….no! I’m good with going back to that age. I’d say I don’t feel 30…but I’d be lying. I felt ready to move into the next decade. Once I thought staying in on a Saturday night and watching reruns of the Real Housewives of Any City was so much more fun than going out and partying, I knew I was getting up there!

Pat has been in Chicago for the past week on a business trip so he had to miss my birthday! I can’t wait to never let him forget this for the rest of our lives. I’ll forever have a sob story that he missed my 30th and it brings my heart great joy to have this in my back pocket. Kidding….kind of!

I think this is going to be a good decade for me. I can feel it in my bones! No really, my knee and back hurts as we speak. I think I’ll have Pat make up missing my birthday by getting me a massage…but for now he’s in good standing because he got me a Polaroid camera! Yes, these are the things I get excited about these in my getting old age.

When Niki told us she wanted the max number of inappropriate photos to be taken at their engagement shoot on Saturday, I knew we were in for an afternoon of amazingness. These two are hilarious together and definitely fit into Pat and I’s vision as the perfect client.

Sean asked Niki to marry him at home. He said he had a surprise for her but instead of getting excited, she wasn’t in the mood and just wanted him to spill the beans. Little did she know he was planning on popping the question.  After being together for 2 years, they are getting married this October at The Ranch in Southwick, MA. I love this venue and swoon when hearing all about Niki’s DIY details she plans to do for the day.

This was the perfect engagement session to start off the Spring for us. The weather was great, we had so much fun and their photos show how much these two really belong together.

It’s been almost a month since I blogged! That’s a sin in my book. I’ve thought about it literally every day. But truth be told, I needed a break from the internet. Facebook, Twitter, blogs, notifications every 2 seconds and being tied to an electronic device. …I was just kind of over it for a bit. I just wanted some time away to not be constantly be on my phone and computer and I have to admit, it was REALLY nice. I feel pretty much out of the loop right now but I’m ok with that. I actually spent more time with the hubby, my dog, watching a ton of Catfish and have been in the gym sweating it out again for the first time in months.

I feel like I’ve been neglecting this blog and our Facebook page and I had a lot of guilt over it. But I heard a really good analogy that to be good at anything in life, you need to treat what you do like a pitcher: focus, look away briefly, refocus and go for it. Now that I’ve had my chance to look away, I’m definitely ready to start sharing ridiculous stories on here again…you know, the usual making Pat completely embarrassed of his life. That’s my life’s work.

Well, it’s the New Year which means it’s the time to set all of our goals for 2013. Of course that means eating healthier, exercising more and all that jazz. But, the most important thing to me this year is taking time for myself. 2012 was amazing and probably one of the best years of my life, if not the best. It was just so incredibly busy that I never really had time to relax. Although I can’t really complain, we traveled to Las Vegas, got to go away for our Bachelorette/Bachelor parties, grew our business, got married, went to Europe and who know what else I’m forgetting!

For the past few weeks, Pat and I have been vegging out like we never have before. I’m talking staying in pajamas all weekend and watching Catfish marathons (those people are crazy btw!). We’ve also been ordering takeout because we were too tired to cook. Let me tell you, the extra inches on my waistline were well worth it. It felt really nice to have some time to just decompress. Now that we did that, it’s back to working out, reading, taking my dog for walks and eating healthy 90% of the time. That’s when I feel the best. Yep, I’m definitely gettin’ old!

As for the business, we have lots of new ideas and goals for 2013. So far, things are looking really good. We have a bunch of weddings already booked and we’re really looking forward to every one of them! We’re definitely going to be even busier with O’Brien Photo this year but I’m working on streamlining things so it makes everything very easy.

That’s my theme for this year: easy! Well, we may run into some issues with that as we put our house on the market in the next couple of months….but that’s more exciting (and sad at the same time) to me. Hopefully Pat and I don’t kill each other in the process.

On that note, I hope everyone had an amazing New Years and holiday season! Back to reality now…wahhh wahhh wahhhhhhhh.
