Bring Cans this Saturday for Second Harvest!

When looking for a charity to support this year, we came across Second Harvest Food Bank Orange County and found it to be the perfect fit to have Foodies helping those in need! The programs at Second Harvest support over 240,000 people through food pantries, soup kitchens, after-school programs and senior citizen centers, amounting to 1.4 million pounds of food each month. The most interesting part is that Second Harvest is serving people in need of help who may have recently lost their jobs through no fault of their own or managing burdening healthcare expenses.

As reported in the interview with Boy Toy Jesse on KIIS FM this past weekend, Second Harvest needs food the most during the summer when schools are out for break and children are not getting their regular school lunches. In order to help solve this problem, we talked to Angels Baseball and came up with a great solution to make everyone happy!

We are thrilled to welcome Fit Chef Katy to this year’s OC Foodie Fest! Katy is here to help you succeed and she’s more than qualified! Her life-long love for fitness and her passion for flavorful, rich and healthy food took her to catering and opening a café in China and recently appearing on The Next Food Network Star!

She will not only be hosting our Freddies vs. Franks Eat Off Competition, making for a silly and rather entertaining event, but she is also prepared to impart her wisdom in an exclusive cooking demonstration where she will show everyone how to make two amazing salads including a blackberry and spinach salad and a lobster salsa salad.

A variety of grub, from small to large and even sweet, Ahn-Joo the Korean Snack Bar leaves everyone wanting more! To get you in on the culture, Ahn-Joo means “snack” at a pub and is called k-snack for short! Their delicious grub will have you feeling adventurous and satisfied!

We’re recommending you try any of their small grub to taste a bit of everything, really you can’t go wrong with any of them, and their grilled Nutella bhang which looks like a chocolate grilled cheese sandwich is a must!

Chef Debbie Lee is also someone to take note of, being a contestant on the Next Food Network Star and making it all the way to the final three, she definitely knows what she’s cookin! From her Korean heritage to her background of being raised in Mississippi, she has the best of soul Seoul food!

Last Monday we released the Food list, now it’s time for the low down on the Entertainment! From music to walking performers to artists, prepare to be entertained!

MUSIC

Coming at you from the Main Stage, smack dab in the middle of the festival, will be all-day long live entertainment! DJ D Fib, an LA-based club dj will have his team spinnin’ from the Main Stage and the Beer Garden in between band performances. We’ll kick the fest off with the Allstars Live Trio, a local dance band rocking the crowd with Old Skool, Funk and Top 40! Rachael Stark will take the stage next as our favorite new country singer! Touring Southern California and performing at major sporting events, Rachael Stark is sure to rock it! Switching gears, SINIZEN will perform next with a mix of reggae-dub-rock-hiphop-latin. These brothers are opening for major acts and touring with their latest record Grass.Roots.Culture. Headlining this year’s OC Foodie Fest is the hit Sublime Cover band, 40 oz to Freedom. Their energy and crowd appeal will leave the audience wanting more!

Do you remember last year’s live mural with a street art influence? They’re back for seconds and in a big way! We’ve given them a stage to allow everyone to watch and be amazed as they create a masterpiece in 8 hours! They’ve added even more this year with 5 art murals of Freddie Foodini’s conquests! Foodies are Oinking at Flying Pig Truck!

This truck is taking the phrase “when pigs fly” and making it a reality for fans’ taste buds! From across the nation, Flying Pig fans are oinking at the hooves of this piggy pink truck! Famous food critics and media such as Oprah, the Travel Channel and Bobby Florence have reviewed their cuisine! Take Me, and 500 Marines, Out to the Ball Game!

The OC Foodie Fest is only 10 days away and to kick off the festivities, we’re super excited to exclusively host 500 marines at this Friday’s Angels Game against the Baltimore Orioles.

The marines will be visiting us from Camp Pendleton, just down the 5 South. Before the game, there’ll be a private tailgate party under the big “A”, where we will have games for the kiddos and a ton of Angels gear for the Marines.

Oh, and what’s a tailgate party without food? We’re bringing out SuperMex Truck, Kona Ice, Mustache Mikes, Papa Murphy’s and The Pogi Boy Truck that will be at the Foodie Fest to treat to complete the party and treat the Marines to a sneak preview of what’s to come at the fest.

See you Friday inside the stadium, and go Halos!
