After many years of playing golf, I realized that I may be gripping the club incorrectly! Yikes! Here are some things to check to see whether you are gripping the club properly.

Note that this is for right handed golfers.

  • Check to see if the club is more in the fingers (as opposed to the palm)
  • An easy way to check is to look at your glove and see where it's wearing out
  • Your left thumb should be point straight down the golf grip
  • The grip should be in the fingers of the right hand
  • Make sure your finger is not pointing straight down the club.  Instead, it should point at an angle
  • The "V" that is created by the thumb and index finger of the left hand should be pointing towards your right shoulder

In the "That was easy" category, Dustin Johnson wins the 2008 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro Am by default because of rain delay.  After 3 days of play, Dustin Johnson was leading by 4 strokes when rain delay canceled play on Sunday.  Weather was still not cooperating on Monday so the committee decided "Hey, let's just end it".

I bet it sucks for Mike Weir and Retief Goosen who were 4 and 5 shots back, but life isn't fair anyway right?

Nick Watney certainly took advantage of John Rollins' total collapse on Sunday, as he birdied 2 of the last 3 holes to win the 2009 Buick Invitational. Those birdie putts weren't easy either, as the 16th birdie was a 30-foot putt.

Watney outplayed everyone who had a chance to win the tournament, but it was funny how he won. While he was only five shots back going into the last day of competition, he never came closer than a two shots of the lead until the 16th hole.

Lucas Glover and Camilo Villegas also had chances to win, but both struggled when it came time to pull off the victory. John Rollins though really screwed it up. He had the tournament clinched since going into the weekend and he never lost the lead until the very last putt when he missed his birdie putt.
