This week I thought I'd revert back to an old favorite that I've never shared with you before. This song by Emiliana Torrini was on heavy, heavy rotation a few years ago and I forgot how much I loved it until I came across her name somewhere again recently and began youtubing all of her songs I used to love so much! I love when you've forgotten about an artist and then rediscover them again!

Misikko Hana Hair Dryer Review!

A little extra post today that I've been meaning to share with you for ages! The lovely folks at Misikko sent me over this hair dryer a while ago to review, and I have to admit, before receiving it I didn't really think there was much difference between hair dryers... they all blow hot air, right? This Hana hair dryer, however, is hands down waaay better than any others I've used in the past. It's super powerful & dries my hair much faster than my previous ones! I also own one of their flat irons, which I've mentioned here before and both products are so great! They don't come without a fairly hefty price tag, but if you want to invest in a great hair dryer, I would definitely reccomend this one! Thanks so much to Misikko for allowing me to try this out!

Feelin' Flats

As much as I love fun heels and wedges, when the warm weather comes along you're much more likely to find me strolling around town in flats. Because this is something I don't really want to admit to myself, I don't buy all that many flats, and then end up wearing the same black ballet flats until they're worn & frumpy. So I've decided that this spring, I will embrace the flat and stock up on lots of fun styles to keep my feet happy! Above are a few that I would love to add to my closet! Nude patent brogues, a fun printed smoking slipper, and a pair of white Sperry's are definitely at the top of my list! Though in a dream world, the Rachel Zoe flats would be coming home with me, too! They are perfection!

If you were to catch me walking down the street, this is likely how you'd find me. The only variation would be the boots, depending on how long or how far I'm going to walk, but on this particular day I wanted to take my new booties from OASAP out for a (careful) stroll. I've been the lady in black this winter, it seems, and I've made it my mission to brighten things up for spring. It just so happens that almost all of my warmest pieces are black or gray, and I am perpetually cold, so I always default back to them!

I'm so done with winter. While this has been a fairly mild winter overall (read: -10 as opposed to -35) it still makes photos so incredibly difficult. These were taken quickly after a brunch date with my pal Katie, and we shivered & shook and then quickly dashed for our cars.

It wasn't until I got home and started looking at the photos that I realized the star of the show - this gorgeous necklace from RunFree, RunWild - was hidden under my coat in almost every photo! Argh! But don't fret, it will be making many more appearances, so we'll just consider this a sneak peek! This necklace is made of a real washed ashore sea urchin (from the coast of Nova Scotia!) & vintage chains, making it totally unique and earth-friendly! It's such a special piece, and I adore that it's made here in Atlantic Canada! Be sure to check out the shop & blog to see the other pretty pieces!

Friday has arrived! Now that we finally got hooked back up to the internet (after 19 days without! Oh, the joys of moving!) I'm looking forward to mostly cuddling up this weekend to catch up on all your lovely blog posts, while watching whatever the movie network has to offer me. During my time with no internet, I spent more time than usual at my local coffee shop, and I remember this song coming on and the guy restocking the magazine shelves was mildly rocking out to it and I smiled and bopped along to it myself a little bit. That's when I decided it needed to be my song of the week this week. So I bring you 'Santa Fe' by Beirut on this cold, snowy morning! Happy weekend, friends!

It doesn't take long once the excitement of the Holidays is over before you just want spring to arrive. Sure, winter tends to hit hardest here in January-February, but in my head, it's over and I'm ready to start dreaming about warmer days. And on those warmer days, I want to wear neon, and I want to wear stripes. Big, bold, black & white stripes to be precise. And I'm determined that if I stalk Spike the Punch long enough, I'll get my hands on one of her gorgeous neon painted necklaces (they sell out within minutes of her updating her shop, just FYI!) After wearing little besides red nail polish for the last few months, I decided to challenge our freezing cold temperatures with a touch of spring by painting my nails a bright pink! I love the way it pops off this otherwise monochromatic outfit, and it left me feeling cheerful and hopeful for warmer days! I got this cardigan for Christmas, and honestly, barely a day goes by that I don't throw it on at some point - it's been worn over skirts at work, with black denim on weekends, and cozied up with yoga pants on the couch! This outfit was just a random Saturday outfit I wore scooting around town (with a coat on, mind you!) and, to be honest, I'm wearing it again right now with a red & black checkered flannel and jeans! So versatile, and so cozy! Note to self, add more cardigans to your closet, asap, so you're not wearing the same one every day.

My freezing hands resulted in almost identical poses for most of these photos! On the plus side, they show off my bright red nails, but really, this girl needs some new gloves. Winter blogging is challenging, my friends! But this super cozy vest from BB Dakota definitely helps combat the cold temps! I haven't experimented very much with the faux fur trend, but I think you can officially consider me a convert!

As most of you know, I've spent the last year working from home, and Monday marks my return to an actual office! While there are definitely perks of working from home, I'm actually really excited to go back to an office, and more specifically, to have a reason to get dressed every day!

That's why I thought it was perfect timing when Monster.com approached me about participating in their "Present The Best You" contest! They asked me to share some tips with you all about dressing for the work place, and after some careful thought, I decided it all came down to one thing for me - the power of a blazer!

A good fitting, non-stuffy, not too corporate blazer is a young professional's wardrobe staple! This particular one I have worn to everything from board meetings to cocktails! If you're anything like me, you don't want to pour your money into super corporate work-only clothes... I want my pieces to be versatile to maximize wear, so I've learned that throwing a blazer over almost anything makes it instantly office appropriate!

Oh blog friends, I miss you! I moved on January 1st and we are still without internet, so I'm just popping in from a coffee shop to say hello & to let you know that I will be back to a very regular posting schedule soon! These photos are just a sneak peek for a guest post I am doing over at Natasha's blog on January 6th,but I wasn't sure how much internet access I would have again before then, so thought I would share now!

On one hand I want to apologize for this one. On the other, I think it's a perfect fit for today - sure, it's a total guilty pleasure, but it's also basically my feel good song of the year, and because 2011 was, to be quite honest, one of the worst years of my life, and because 2012 is already shaping up to be so much better, I decided to go ahead and drop a little Flo Rida on this Friday morning! Because I GOT A GOOD FEELING about what this year has in store. Plus, it's New Years Eve weekend - so a little dance party is in order anyway. ;)

Decor Dreams

As most of you know, I'll be kicking off 2012 by moving back to the city I call home!(For those of you who don't, the quickest synopsis ever: moved to SJ in February because the fella got a new job. Never took to new city, with the exception of a few great girls and a cute farmer's market. Missed home terribly. Fast forward 10 months and Shawn got laid off. A semi-bummer, but blessing in disguise, as this means we can move back to the city we love. Icing on the cake? He just scored an amazing new job! Things are falling into place!)

Sure, moving on New Years Day is less than ideal, but I'm hoping to somehow still manage to pack a truck on NYE day, drive to Fredericton, throw on a party dress and toast to the new year with my favorite girlies, and wake up the next morning ready to move into our new place! There's something about moving that instantly puts you in redecorating mode, and I can't help but dream about decorating our new home!

I am envisioning something warm & feminine - black & white graphic prints, cozy faux fur throws, metallics, mirrors, candles & girlie accents. My mom (a seamstress, by trade) is making us vertically striped black & white curtains as our Christmas gift which I am SO excited about! I have dreamed of them for months! What are you loving in the home decor world?

Christmas is less than two weeks away. This is a little bit mindblowing. This weekend marks the beginning of festive fun - my office Christmas party is tonight and tomorrow we celebrate the birth of my handsome man! He's playing a show at a local pub so we've invited all of his friends there to celebrate with him after the show! Overall it should be a great weekend. While this song is by no means reflective of the parties I just mentioned, it warms my heart and puts me in a happy holiday mood. Hope you all have the most beautiful weekends!
