A very well-loved and respected member of O U S A, Barry has held many roles, including Deputy President. Barry is, however, best known for his ceaseless travels the length and breadth of Scotland to spread the word about O U S A and how the Association could help its members, and to sell a few t-shirts along the way! One famous story has Barry driving off the Orkney ferry (having just
arrived on the islands for a few days working), tuning in to the local radio station to hear an announcement being made that “Barry Hardy from the Open University Students Association will be visiting the islands and looks forward to meeting local Open University students “.

Despite all this hard work, he did neglect his duties on one occasion. As the Graduation Ceremony marketing coordinator he deserted his post at the marketing stall for a few hours to graduate!

We would like to offer Barry and his (often long-suffering!) family our sincerest congratulations on an honour richly deserved.
