Davis is the consensus #1 pick if he declares for the 2012 draft.

What he did well:

• Play the pick and roll. On offense, he’s at the rim 2 steps after setting a pick on the perimeter and he can catch and finish explosively and in traffic. On defense, he’s long and athletic enough to guard 2 guys in motion on the play.
• Weakside defense. He’s a threat to block every shot taken near the key. He had 7 blocks in this one.
• Shoot. He has a pretty nice touch for a pivot on jumpers out to 18 feet. He was 3-3 on free throws as well.
• Sweep the offensive glass. He had 4 offensive rebounds, 8 total.

This game will pit Shaquille O’Neal’s Awkward Mumblers against Charles Barkley’s Role Models. Here’s how the draft should go, with consideration to assembling teams (ie. Cousins is not the 4th best player in this game, but Shaq needed a big guy.) Shaq won the toss and will pick first.

1. Mumblers: Ekpe Udoh. Oh wait, he didn’t get invited to the party. They actually select: Blake Griffin. He will have 30 in this game on 15-17 shooting.
2. Role Models: Kyrie Irving. Just a good basketball player. Decent chance he’s playing in the varsity game next year.
3. Ricky Rubio. You gotta have a guy like this in an all-star game and you can’t miss the chance to see him throw passes to Griffin.
4. DeMarcus Cousins. As always, there’s a 13% chance something will happen that will cause him to take hostages in the arena
5. John Wall. Disappointing he isn’t any better than he was last year but still clearly the most talented player available.
6. Greg Monroe. Chuck counters Shaq’s 2 point guard small ball approach by grabbing a PF to play next to Cousins.
7. Paul George. Taking another step this year.
8. Derrick Williams. This is a potential pick and he will look great in this game.
9. Tiago Splitter. Shaq gets a big guy who will annoy people by setting picks too aggressively for an exhibition game.
10. Evan Turner. He can do everything well except make baskets.
11. Gordon Hayward. White guys never get called streaky shooters but if they did he’d be one of the streakier ones.
12. Kemba Walker. So far he looks like a one dimensional player who isn’t that good at his one dimension.
13. Brandon Knight. Needs to pass more and shoot less.
14. Marshon Brooks. If he’s still hurt he will be replaced by Klay Thompson, who will be the best shooter in the game.
15. Landry Fields. He isn’t shooting well or rebounding this year, which were his two strengths last year.
16. Tristan Thompson. He’s shown a little something but he’s not going to be the kind of impact player you hope to get in the top 5 of the draft.
17. Markieff Morris. Why is he here?
18. Kawhi Leonard. I like him as a player but this isn’t his kind of game.

So Shaq will be running out a team of Rubio, Wall, George, Griffin and Splitter (with Hayward, Knight, Fields and Morris coming off the bench) and Chuck will counter with a club of Irving, Turner, Williams, Monroe and Cousins (with Walker, Brooks, Thompson and Leonard coming off the bench.)  Griffin is so obviously the best player in the game whoever had the first pick was going to be favorite, but Chuck ended up with a pretty good team as well. Turner and Williams will both be better in this game than they’ve shown in the league and Monroe and Cousins are more skilled on the whole than Griffin and Splitter.

Vegas has installed Shaq’s Mumblers as -6.5 favorites with the O/U @ 256.5. David Stern has already announced Blake Griffin as the Kia MVP of the game.
