As the AP reports:

Barack Obama came up a big winner in the presidential race in Dixville Notch and Hart's Location, N.H., where tradition of having the first Election Day ballots tallied lives on. Democrat Obama defeated Republican John McCain by a count of 15 to 6 in Dixville Notch, where a loud whoop accompanied the announcement in Tuesday's first minutes.

Local Democrats were reportedly surprised and delighted by the results, which usually tend Republican.

The town of Hart's Location reported 17 votes for Obama, 10 for McCain and two for write-in Ron Paul. Independent Ralph Nader was on both towns' ballots but got no votes.

Reports are careful to observe that the voting events -- based on a minute voter sample -- are not predictive.

With 115 residents between them, Dixville Notch and Hart's Location get every
eligible voter to the polls beginning at midnight on Election Day. Between them,
the towns have been enjoying their first-vote status since 1948.

As a result, our country was able to wake up to a bumper crop of headlines, generated while we were sleeping by the international press, somewhat ironically proclaiming Obama's "landlside" victory and "Obama wins!"

Read the full report: Obama wins in earliest vote in tiny Dixville, NH.

Obama's "New America"

With a growing wave of support in the press, public opinion, polls, and invigorated volunteerism in the campaign, Senator Barak Obama appears to be the new leader our nation both needs and wants. ACORN has conducted a massive registration campaign for Democratic voters and no irregularities have been proven. Barack Obama, citing the Democrat's 'ability to inspire' and the 'inclusive nature of his campaign.'

"I think he is a transformational figure, he is a new generation coming
onto the world stage, onto the American stage, and for that reason I'll be
voting for Sen. Barack Obama," Powell said on NBC's Meet the Press.

"Powell said he was concerned about what he characterized as a recent
negative turn of Republican candidate Sen. John McCain's campaign, such as the
campaign's attempts to tie Obama to former 1960s radical Bill Ayers.

"'I think that's inappropriate. I understand what politics is about -- I
know how you can go after one another, and that's good. But I think this goes
too far, and I think it has made the McCain campaign look a little narrow. It's
not what the American people are looking for,' he said."

Read the full report on CNN: Colin Powell endorses Obama

"I am Beyond Honored"...

Obama's reply to Powell's Endorsement...
"Earlier I mentioned General Powell and how grateful I am for his support.
