Failed.

It's Saturday. Which means I skipped Friday. *FAIL* But I did get a run in and that took my priority yesterday. I just don't seem to be able to do it all as much as my head thinks I can. I couldn't seem to gather my thoughts enough to actually write something coherent? Worthy?

I had the serious aches yesterday and was not really able to Advil my way out of it. My craving for chicken fajitas took over and I came home and cooked like a maniac only to discover I was no longer hungry. I was, however, suddenly pretty exhausted and I could go to bed right then. We were waiting for Sir Eliot to show up as we have him for the weekend. Once he did...he wouldn't sleep. At midnight I was in tears I was so tired. That's when Sean took over. I just caved and said, "do you want to try?". It worked pretty quickly (he is, after all, the boss ;) and that was that. Sleep came soon after and I knew I would sleep in this morning.

And then I didn't.

I'll maybe check in later. We have fun things to do here. FUN THINGS!!

Exhaustion moves in. Rude.

This has been a really tough day. I'm not sure why, but I have felt completely off since I woke up. I know part of it is not running for two days and I really want to, my mind craves it. But my Hypothyroid body is fighting me every.step.of the way. Total frustration. I'm exhausted in the morning. I get myself together and go to work. After work I run a few quick errands, come home and have lunch while I check the computer world and again, exhaustion hits. But I haven't done anything to be tired for. I just...fall asleep at the counter. Pretty quick it's supper time and I'm throwing food at the family and BAM. It's dark outside and the treadmill is all I have left for a choice.

I'm frustrated. And I'm weary. Maybe tomorrow. I have Sir Eliot this weekend so we'll have to see how it goes. I have to run. It must be done. I wonder what I have to do to make myself get. that.

Grace

My quest for grace is ever present. The point there? I never seem to find it. *sigh* To say my foot is in my mouth most of the time is the understatement of the year. I have told my husband I have "personality repellent". I am always offending someone. I trip when I walk. I will realize three hours too late that I wore completely the wrong thing. The right words never come conveniently to my head. Hence, the wrong words leave my mouth frequently.

I did learn, however, there is a time to be silent and a time to have a voice. The election was yesterday and we all know who won and I am a firm believer in keeping my political choices to myself. It keeps the peace. All I am reading is negativity and ugliness. I cannot imagine ever putting those kinds of words out there. Of course, my mother always told me, "never put on paper what you don't want the whole world to read". Nevertheless, I would be ashamed to say those things about my President whether I thought them or not. Ashamed. I can only hope I taught my children better.

These people we elect (these are important words here...they were elected) put themselves completely out there. They deserve a certain level of respect. The same level we, perhaps, expect ourselves? Hm. Love thy neighbor.

On a lighter note: I totally need to do some shoe shopping. Boots maybe, People. Boots. Keep you posted.

Confidence questioned.

You know you can be confident in your relationship when you tell your husband you "friended" an ex boyfriend (seriously ex...like..high-school-man-that-was-so-long-ago-ex) and he says, "huh". And he keeps walking through the kitchen and doesn't even falter.

Wait. Is that confidence? Now I'm not so confident. Maybe I should be worried. But my husband is SO not the jealous type. He would be rightthere while a gentleman (clearly flirting) asks me out and he would:

a: not notice

b: not care

c: when told about it later would go..."huh"

d: all of the above

This used to really bother me. But I found the solution and now I feel much better. I stopped thinking about it. Works like a charm. My dad had the same solution for noises the car makes. Turn the radio up.

I've been CHALLENGED!

Okay, not really. She invited me. To do the https://www.facebook.com/RunDenver with her this year. I just took it as a challenge. It's a pricey $135 and ends with a lengthy half marathon. I've run this distance many many times before but since the marathon-which-should-not-be-named I haven't run farther than five miles. So a half marathon sounds like an ultra. And surprisingly unappealing. I think as my distance increases...I'll want to do it but right now it sounds horrible. I'm going to sign up for it. I'll have to stand on the street corner for the $135. And I'm sure I'll be able to muster up at least...oh...$40 bucks. Then I can sell something of my husband's. He probably won't notice.

I'll keep ya'll (ya'll??? I wonder who ya'll are??? hahhahahha. I'm talkin' to myself but having a surprising good time as I have so much crap in my head I constantly have to spew out) posted on my mileage and such as soon as I get this thing up and running properly. Thanks for your patience!! haha.

Normal

I believe everyone has been given their own story. This is not a world of “normal”. Some of us were blessed with a healthy weight, but health issues. I have chronic migraines and chronic thyroid issues. Sometimes I’m hypothyroid and sometimes I’m hyperthyroid. My doctor says I’m a “medical mystery”. Pretty sure that is news to no one. My mother tells me, when I complain of my thin crooked fingernails, “Hey…I gave you good skin, what more do you want?” I want strong straight fingernails AND good skin, clearly. I want it all. My daughter would then throw in a comment about being white and privileged. But that’s another blog post. And hey…I would ask for world peace but seriously…I am not even seeing a sign of good fingernails so I don’t think the United Nations are gonna step up. Yeah…I still ask though. I do.

Our stories are made up of our history. Like a great book, everyone’s story is written as it goes along but the premise is there and yours to do what you will with it. Do you have a learning disability? You will just have to study harder; it’s a fact of your life, your story. But you have strengths that balance you. Your sense of great adventure. You love of life that lets you appreciate all new things. Do you struggle with depression? You will have to remember to exercise, eat right and if necessary, take your meds. It’s not a crisis. You aren’t crazy. It’s chemical. It’s just your story. You are just like the rest of us. Perfectly “normal”. It is your choice how you choose to deal with your story. Tomorrow is another day. This is balanced by your gifts. This is what makes us unique. Welcome to Normal.

If there was ever a time we should step as a nation and come together it should be now. The aftermath of Hurricane Sandy is still taking its toll and it has been a week already. I wouldn’t really know who or where to begin to give the most to as everyone suffers so greatly. Thanks so much to the Red Cross and the other fabulous local and national charities that collect and spread so generously. I see Crazyrunninggirl has started a virtual run and if you would like to join in just click the link and sign up. The impact has, I think, affected far more than the residents of those states. Be it Katrina, 9/11, or Sandy. I do so appreciate seeing each person grab someone’s hand and help pull them up. It is a refreshing change and a reminder to everyone to remember the Golden Rule and love thy neighbor.
