Continental is a manufacturer of tyres. You could actually see this in their logo, because the first two letters create a 3-dimensional tyre.

Toblerone

Toblerone is a chocolate-company from Bern, Switzerland. Bern is sometimes called ‘The City Of Bears’. They have incorporated this idea in the Toblerone logo, because if you look closely, you’ll see the silhouette of a bear.

Baskin Robins

The old logo of Baskin Robbins had the number 31 with an arc above it. The new logo took this idea to the next level. The pink parts of the BR still form the number 31, a reference to the 31 flavours.

Sony Vaio

Sony Vaio is a well known brand of laptops. But did you know that the name Vaio logo also had a hidden meaning? Well, the first two letters represent the basic analogue signal. The last two letters look like a 1 and 0, representing the digital signal.

I really love this logo: every letter is made of the number 8. I also selected this logo as the logo of the week a few months ago.

Carrefour

Carrefour is one of the biggest European retailers, and it’s also French for “crossroads”. The logo symbolizes this word via two opposite arrows. They also added the first letter of the name, because if you look closely you’ll see the letter C in the negative space between the two arrows.

Roxy

Roxy is a company that specializes in clothing and accessories for girls who love snowboarding, surfing… The company is actually a part of Quiksilver. The Roxy logo is made of two Quiksilver logos that form a heart.

Unilever

Unilever is one of the biggest producers of food, beverages, cleaning agents and personal care products. They produce a huge amount of different products and they wanted to reflect this in their logo. Each part of the logo has a meaning. For example: the heart represents love, care and health - feeling good, a bird is a symbol of freedom. Relief from daily chores – getting more out of life.

Northwest Airlines

This simple looking logo actually carries a whole lot of information. First of all you can see the letters N and W, the first two letters of the brand name. But what most people don’t see is the compass that points to the Northwest, another reference to the brand name.

Milwaukee Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers is a professional baseball team from Milwaukee, Wisconsin (well, duh…). Their logo is actually made up of the letters M (on top) and B (below the m). These two letters also form a baseball glove.

Hartford Whalers

This logo also uses a negative space to create the letter H. You can see three different parts: the letter H and W and a whale’s tail in blue.

Tostitos

If you look at the centre of this logo, you can see two people enjoying a Tostito chip with a bowl of salsa. This logo conveys an idea of people connecting with each other.

Formula 1

At first, this logo might not make much sense. But if you look closely, you’ll see the number 1 in the negative space between the F and the red stripes. I also love how this logo communicates a feeling of speed.

Sun Microsystems

The Sun logo is one of the most famous ambigrams in the world. You can read the brand name in every direction; both horizontally and vertically. This logo was designed by professor Vaughan Pratt of the Stanford University.

Big Ten

Big Ten is an academic union which was founded in the year 1896. Until 1990, this union consisted of 10 universities, but in June 1990 Pennsylvania State University was added. They didn’t want to change their name, so they added the number 11 to the logo.

This logo doesn’t seem to hide much at first sight, but it gives you a little insight in the philosophy behind the brand. First of all, the yellow swoosh looks like a smile: Amazon.com want to have the best customer satisfaction. The swoosh also connects the letters a and z, meaning that this store has everything from a to z.

Eighty-20

Eighty-20 is a small consulting firm. Most people think that the logo has nothing to do with the brand name. But the trick is to view the dark squares as 1′s and the light squares as 0′s. Then the top line reads 1010000 and the bottom line reads 0010100, which represent 80 and 20 in binary.

Fedex

This is probably one of the best known logos with a hidden meaning. If you look closely, you’ll see an arrow that’s formed by the letters E and x. This arrow symbolizes speed and precision, two major selling points of this company.

Body Wisdom

It is a logo design for a high end day spa… the hands effectively convey relaxing massage integrated with the proximity of the “owl eyes” to clearly say “wisdom”.

Being an Online Food Delivery service, its logo shows a fork formed into an @ symbol! Such a easy logo to remember.

Big Ten Logo

The Big Ten collegiate conference has eleven schools but they didn’t want to change their name. However, they used their logo to hide the numerical “11” in the name.

The designer of ED Logo – “Elettro Domestici -Home Appliances” in English, changed the concept of traditional logo designing through this logo. The designer has amazingly used the negative space to demonstrate the letter “E” and “D” making the logo look like an electric plug.

VIA Rail Canada Logo

Notice carefully…the VIA rail Canada logo makes two train tracks with the letters” V” and the “A”. The alphabet “I” is the division between the two. A simply brilliant logo.

Mosleep Logo

You will notice here how cleverly designer have integrated a bed with the letter “M” to come up with a logo for an organization of doctor’s dealing with sleep issues.

Fuga

It is a logo for Architecture Center Of Budapest and looks more like a maze but if you follow the white space, the four lettered company name will become evident.

Piano Forest Logo

The designer gives the message in a subtle but evident manner by shaping piano keys like trees to resemble a keyboard/piano.

NorthWest Old Logo

The logo reflected a clever way of splitting the alphabets, N and W (north west) along with a location pointed to by the red triangle in the upper left corner. The redesign lost the charm of the original.

This could be defined as real creativity…A regular film reel turned to look like a scary ghost for a production house.

Yoga Australia Logo

At first glance the logo may look like a simple picture of a young girl doing her yoga exercise but if you watch it carefully the body posture is creating the Australia Map.

Minimum:

This wavy logo looks like "a queue of letter ‘U’ but I would like you to give a second look. Designed by Kilment Kalchev, the logo spells the word minimum in an unrecognizing manner. I really enjoyed figuring it out

"B" Logo:

Although you might think it is a simple “Symbolic Logo” showing a “Bee” but what makes it more appealing is the portraying of the letter “B” and the real “Bee” through a simple symbol.

Carrefour Logo:

Carrefour in French means “crossroads” and the logo shows two opposite arrows inside a diamond shaping the C letter with the negative space between them but let me confess, I never saw the letter “C” until someone pointed it out to me…

London Symphony Orchestra:

Although the logo looks like a single flowing line creating three initials L.S.O in air. The harmonious graphic of this logo marks the unbreaking rhythm of an Orchestra.

Philadelphia Flyers logo:

If you analyze this logo carefully you will find a “double treat” of hidden messages. It may appear as a streaked “P” but I see a puck with wings and a hidden hockey stick emerging from the centre circle in the logo. Do you see it now?

Modern Nerd:

The special features of this logo is it’s way to spell the term “Modern Nerd” and then using the symbolic shapes of hair, glasses and tie to portray the stereotypical geek/nerd image.

Newman Logo:

I would add my personal favorite, the reversible Newman logo. This logo is the best example of simple but clever logo…what say?

Mamouth Logo:

This logo is for a French children clothing store. Although there’s two "m" in French for the word "mammouth" but the designer has played well to make the mammoth face with the single alphabet.

Society 27:

The good thing about this logo is that it shows the same when viewed in an upside down position. The abstract use of "quotes" and number "7" show the number 27 clearly.

Hammer Logo :

This logo is a creative example of utilising the negative space to make your logo leave a lasting impression. The integration of the letter "H" with the hammer is outstanding and a little difficult to find at first glance.

We're talking about Furbies, some kind of nightmarish mechanical rabbit with a beak that quickly became the must-have toy for Christmas in 1998 and 1999. Nearly 16 million of the electronic spawns of Satan were sold. Because of this popularity, Furbies were finding their way in to the homes of millions, and even some places of employment. Which is fine (albeit annoying) unless your employer happens to be the National Security Agency.

In 1999, an internal memo was sent out officially banning Furbies from the NSA's headquarters in Fort Meade, Maryland because officials were worried that people would take them home, and that the spiritual predecessor to Tickle Me Elmo would overhear, and proceed to talk about classified information. What the NSA failed to realize is that Furbies didn't actually develop or learn anything at all. Hell, they didn't even repeat what they heard like most people thought. In fact, what nobody seemed to realize is that the Furbies' language development was pre-programmed, and that no matter what you say to the Furby, it's not going to learn or say anything different than the 100 English words it was already programmed to "learn." You can read it Portuguese porn articles every single day for six months straight, and it's still going to end up saying, "I big worried."
But, it's easy to see how the NSA wouldn't know that. It's not like they are big on, you know, gathering information about things.

Greece Bans All Video Games

In 2002, Greece's government wanted to crack down on illegal gambling; specifically, electronic gambling machines. Makes sense -- these machines offer all of the money-sucking ability of a casino, but without the free buffet. The problem comes when laws regulating any kind of electronic entertainment are made by people too old or sheltered to have ever actually seen one. As a result, the vague, all-encompassing wording of the new law wound up effectively banning every possible kind of video game, anywhere.

The law banned any games or gaming systems with electronic mechanisms and software. So instead of regulating gambling, they effectively grounded the citizens of the entire country and told them to go do their homework. According to the Greek newspaper Kathimerini, "The blanket ban was decided ... after the government admitted it was incapable of distinguishing innocuous video games from illegal gambling machines." That is, rather than bog themselves down with figuring out what exactly these newfangled "video games" were, they just threw out a blanket ban figuring no one would care as long as it took out the gambling machines along with it. That's really all people use video games for anyway, right?

Needless to say, the ban was not well received since the legislation's stubborn ignorance meant that anyone caught playing games as innocuous as Minesweeper in a cafe could potentially be slapped with a hefty fine and a prison sentence.

This drew scorn from both the gaming community and Europe as a whole. Shortly after it was passed, the European Court of Justice sent a letter to Greece explaining delicately that the law was idiotic. Greece responded by allowing more leniency in the law and also with a follow up letter to the European Court of Justice asking how to get those songs from their computer screens onto the little record players everyone carries around.

China Bans Time Travel

From Tibet to Tiananmen Square, China has celebrated an illustrious career of censorship, fudging details and generally hiding shit from the world. Anything that might endanger the delicate social fabric of their country is susceptible to suppression or banning, and recently there was a new addition to that list of national threats: time travel.

Not the pursuit of actual time travel -- though it seems like that would make sense in the name of Terminator prevention -- but time travel as a fictional concept. China's General Bureau of Radio, Film and Television noticed a recent uptick in the number of shows and movies featuring time travel as a central theme (Lost, we bet) and decided that the completely fictional concept of manipulating the flow of events was, "disrespectful to history."

More rational governments realize the finale of Lost was only disrespectful to intelligence.

Apparently, the problem isn't with depicting the act of time travel itself, but with the actual historical events or people portrayed, because inevitably the recounting of those events are not 100 percent accurate. You know, since putting an original spin on history is kind of the point of a time travel movie.
According to the Bureau, "The producers and writers are treating serious history in a frivolous way, which should by no means be encouraged anymore." What, do they think this law can stop that Bill & Ted sequel from happening? Come on, China, if that could be done, don't you think we would have tried? Keanu is pushing 50-years old -- we're not any happier about it than you are.

Russia Bans Emo

Like any parent, mother Russia just plain does not understand today's youth. The government was looking for a reason for the high suicide rates, depression and general gloominess predominant among teens throughout their vast, impoverished and often freezing country. It finally landed on a likely culprit: emo clothing. Hell, that has to be it, right? What else is there to be depressed about in glorious Russia?

Dubbed "a threat to national stability," Russia introduced a bill to ban anyone in emo clothing from entering public schools and government buildings as if they were suicide bombers smuggling sadness bombs under their safety-pinned corsets from Hot Topic.

So what is the tangible danger behind emo culture? Well, a hearing on Government Strategy in the Sphere of Spiritual and Ethical Education claims that emo culture is a "dangerous teen trend" that ranks right up there with being a skinhead. It encourages social withdraw and feelings of hopelessness. According to an advisor of one of the bill sponsors, "The point of the bill is so that by 2020, Moscow will have someone to rule its government."

So the fear is that emo will eventually collapse the Russian power structure from within by wiping out a generation of future Putins. That's right: They believe that emo fashion would do what both Hitler and Napoleon could not. Although ...

China Bans Reincarnation (Without Prior Government Approval)

For Tibetan Buddhism, reincarnation is kind of a big deal because it will determine how an individual spends his entire next life. This is of particular importance for the tulkus, otherwise known as the "living Buddhas." Unlike other monks, tulkus have the distinct benefit of actually choosing how they are reborn, which, when you think about it, is really, really fucking cool. Though we suppose choosing to be born with an 11-inch dong probably disqualifies you from the position.

But tulkus can't just go around reincarnating willy-nilly, not anymore anyway. As of September of 2007, China banned reincarnation without express permission from the government. The State Administration for Religious Affairs calls the ban, "an important move to institutionalize management of reincarnation." Now, we are no experts on death and rebirth, but not only does this law seem pointless, it also seems pretty damn hard to enforce. We're pretty sure that would be the equivalent of a government regulating when and where Christ was allowed to perform his Second Coming.

China is flipping out because the Dalai Lama has already begun his succession plan, and has said that he flat out refuses to be reborn in Tibet while it remains under Chinese control. And since China insists that any reincarnated living Buddha that was not approved by the government is "illegal and invalid," people are looking at the distinct possibility of two Dalai Lamas existing; one chosen by the monks, and the other by Beijing. The only way he could make it worse is if he went around telling fake stories about when he traveled through time.

Australia Bans Small Breasts in Porn

Back at the beginning of 2010, the Australian Classification Board decided it needed to put an end to some of the more unsavory aspects of adult films and publications. First on their hit list was the depiction of any sort of female ejaculation. The Board felt these scenes were most decidedly deserving of a Refused Classification because it was one of two things:
Urine, and thus banned under the label of "golden showers," or;
an abhorrent depiction.

Also in the Classification Board's sights for banned content? Breasts. Or rather, the lack thereof. If you were going to have naked titties, they needed to be big titties. By order of the Australian government.

The reason is that an Australian group called Kids Free 2B Kids was leading a campaign to forbid women with an A-cup breast size from appearing in pornography, claiming it encouraged pedophilia, since apparently all flat-chested women are under the legal age of consent.

As a result, depictions of non-voluptuous women in their late 20s have been banned, including those in mainstream publications like Hustler. Not only that, but according to Fiona Patten of the Australian Sex Party, "It may be an unintended consequence of the Senator's actions but they are largely responsible for the sharp increase in breast size in Australian adult magazines of late."

If the rumors are true this thing might give the Ipad-2 a run for its money in the thickness and weight department.

The pricing is unknown at the moment but I think it will be around the 30k mark so If you're willing to buy a tablet I think you should wait till the 3rd quarter because apart from the Samsung, Sony and some other companies will come up with new tablets too.

But If you love Apple like Americans Love Peace and Chinese love Piracy...This post is not for you... The Ipad-2 is waiting for you!! Go get it!

Buying a good mobile phone in an available budget is not an easy task. Since, I have started writing on mobile domain, lot of people have come asking me regarding what phones should they buy and what’s the best OS and if Nokia is still worth going for etc. So, it makes sense for me to make a post about my opinions for a lot of people out there looking for a new device.
Now one thing that I come across very often is people saying, let’s just wait man, maybe a better device is on the horizon, well frankly speaking, in tech world things change so fast and something new and better is always on the horizon so instead of sitting around , I suggest go out and pick up the gadget that suits your needs else you’d be sitting around forever.
Here I am dividing the whole mobile phone slots in different categories according to the price. You can choose the best phone according to the price range which best suits you.

Limited Budget <RS.10,0000

This is perhaps the budget of most of the people when looking for a Smartphone, they don’t want to overspend yet look for good features in their phone. The phone that in my honest opinion is the very best in this range without any shadow of doubt is Blackberry Curve 8520. This 2G device is power packed with features, very decent speaker quality and user experience plus the added benefit to stay online with the BBM and internet Service makes this Blackberry perhaps the most sold RIM device. I cannot recommend this phone enough. There are plenty of cheaper alternatives from the likes of Samsung and few Nokia C series device but looking for quality, durability and some style? You just cannot go wrong with the Blackberry Curve 8520.

Mid range budget<RS. 15,000

This is another popular category cause people in this category usually want higher end specs, a good screen and latest features to play with like games and stuff. The problem with this category though is that, there are not too many devices here. One of my very favorite ones though is LG Optimus 1. It gives a great Android experience, has a fantastic capacitive touch screen and most of the android applications can be run on it. A very good speaker and camera means with Optimus 1 you would have very little to complain of, if anything at all. If you have never used an android in your life, this just might be the device you would want to start off with.
Another popular option could be Nokia E72, amazing camera and QWERTY keyboard and fantastic build quality means this device will never go out of fashion, for resident Nokia users, you cannot go wrong with one!

Higher Range<RS. 25,000

There are some absolute gorgeous devices in this range. Packed with oodles of power, beautiful screens and cameras as good as your digital cameras, if you are willing to spend up to Rs. 25,000 of your hard earned money, you definitely have a fair few choices to make.
My personal favorite in this category is HTC Desire. It is a fantastic phone with a great processor, very decent camera quality and comes loaded with Android 2.2 upgradable to 2.3. The applications are unlimited thanks to the market place and the user experience with HTC Sense is a joy! If you have the money, you just cannot go wrong with this.
Another very good phone in this range is Nokia N8. For die hard Nokia fans this phone in a lot of ways is what’s good about Nokia. A brilliantly built body and a camera to absolutely adore, N8 is one phone you would not regret. However it loses out to HTC Desire only because of the outdated and laggy Symbian software. It plays multimedia extremely well and the screen is absolutely stunning.
A few definite no-nos would be Sony Ericsson Xperia x10 and the Motorola Milestone.

Luxury Range>Rs. 25,000

Chances are , if you are spending over 25,000Rs on your Smartphone, you would want the best of everything.
Here I recommend my favorite phone till date HTC Desire HD. It is a phone I cannot stop talking about, 4.3 inch screen is absolutely a joy to use and with a brilliant Aluminum single cut slab form factor this phone is nothing short of art. The processor on it is absolutely great and has absolutely zero lag, the only little downside is 1230mAh battery , but it very easily lasts for a day and you can always charge it at night. I have been personally using this device as my phone, and I can say, I have never been happier.
There are a few choices here too, a very popular one is the iPhone 4, for die hard Apple fans, this is a great choice, slightly expensive but you all have read everything about it and you just cannot go wrong with one, I personally love iPhone 4 too and a very thin line of Android being an open sourced platform separated me from picking the Apple device.
Another phone I actually like a bit and was recently launched is Samsung Nexus S. For users looking for stock android usage this is a great phone thought the plastic built really did not impress me much. Nokia E7 is also a very decent choice as packs the good features of N8 with a QWERTY keyboard.

All of us form a sort of impression that this would be the expected word coming up next in the sentence but it is always not to be. It all depends on what one thinks. On a historic day like this, when the most wanted man in the history of CIA, Osama Bin Laden has been killed, it is only natural for people around the world to be curious about the two personalities that were engaged in a war of ideologies. While Osama Bin Laden was an international symbol of terrorism and a man hated for killings of innocent men, women , and children all over the world, Barrack Hussein Obama represented the other side of humanity, the will of all those who stood against terror and led the war on terror. It is no surprise then that Obama chose to address the people of the world to congratulate them on the killing of the most dreaded terrorist in the history of mankind and to proclaim victory in the war on terror. He said that with the end of Osama Bin Laden, justice has been done to all those martyrs and their families who suffered a lot in the bombings of World Trade Center in September 9, 2001. Let us make a comparison of the two personalities of Osama Bin Laden and barrack Hussein Obama, the vanquished and the victor on this historic day.

Osama Bin Laden

Osama was born in a wealthy Yemeni family in Saudi Arabia in 1957. His family was involved in construction business. At a young age, he felt disturbed by Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and with the tacit support of the US and Saudi Arabia, went to Afghanistan to mobilize troops from all parts of the world to wage a holy war (Jihad) against the Soviets. He recruited Mujahideens (warriors) who were mostly Afghan-Arabs and received training from CIA in gorilla warfare. He founded Al-Qaeda and recruited men to protect the Muslims and Islam. He finally succeeded in evicting Soviets from Afghanistan and returned to Saudi Arabia. He sent Mujahideens to various parts of the world wherever he felt Muslim population was oppressed such as Balkans, Chechnya, China, Kashmir, and Somalia. When US sent its troops to make an army base in Saudi Arabia, he voiced his displeasure. He was expelled from Saudi Arabia for his anti government activities. He shifted base to Sudan and also made headquarters of Al-Qaeda there. US government forced Sudan to expel Osama in 1996 which is when he returned to Afghanistan and declared a war on the US. The Gulf War and subsequent events made Osama worried about US presence in the Middle East, particularly in Saudi Arabia.

The Taliban in Afghanistan welcomed Osama as a guest and provided him with all help and assistance. US was worried about killings of innocent US citizens in various bombing incident in its embassies in Africa and at other places, but the turning point came on September 11, 2001 when Al-Qaeda carried out attacks on World Trade center and Pentagon. Nearly 3000 innocent citizens lost their lives in these attacks and shook the entire world. The then US President, George Bush declared a war on terror, and in October 2001, invaded Afghanistan to dismantle Al-Qaeda and to depose the Taliban. Though US succeeded in throwing out Taliban, Osama and his deputy Ayman Zawahiri escaped unscathed. It took the US and all its might almost 10 years to finally kill Osama, who was found hiding in a compound in Abotabad, a place near Islamabad in Pakistan. Barrack Hussein Obama, the US President himself authorized Special Forces of CIA to carry out drone attacks that killed Osama along with 4 of his men on the intervening night of 1st and 2nd of May, 2011.

Barrack Hussein Obama

Born in 1961 in a Muslim family in Honolulu, Barrack Hussein Obama is the 44th President of the US. His birth father was a Muslim but his parents divorced in 1964. His mother married Lolo Soetoro, an Indonesian and Barrack spent his childhood in Jakarta, Indonesia. Later, his mother returned to Hawaii till his death because of ovarian cancer in 1984. Osama’s birth father was a black and his mother a white which left indelible mark on his personality and he recalls how difficult it was for him to adjust socially. He even experienced drugs to put questions of identity out of his mind.

Later Obama studied political science in Columbia University and graduated with a B.A. In 1988, he entered Law School at Harvard. He was elected as the first black President of the Harvard law Review. It was in 1996 that he was elected to Illinois senate. He is known for his anti war views that surfaced when the then President George Bush declared war against Iraq. Obama became a senator in 2005 and began nursing ambitions of Presidency. It was in 2007 that Barrack announced his plans for Presidency. As a Democrat candidate, Obama defeated Republican McCain and became the first Black President of the US. Though born a Muslim, Obama professes Christian faith.

It was on May 1, 2011 that President Obama appeared on television and declared that the most dreaded terrorist of the world, Osama Bin laden has been killed in a operation that had his authorization and that the body of the slain terrorist is in the US custody. He congratulated the people of the world, especially US citizens on the killing of Osama and said that finally justice has been served to the families of nearly 3000 innocent citizens of US who had been dastardly killed in the attack on the twin towers on 9/11.

In brief:

• To compare or differentiate between Osama and Obama is to compare good with evil.

• Obama was on the side of justice and humanity while Osama was on the side of terror and hatred.

• Obama is the victor while Osama is vanquished.

• Obama, a born Muslim said that this is not the war of religions and the war on terror has nothing against Islam.

• With the killing of Osama, life has come full circle with Al-Qaeda having been served a body blow.

Engineering students told to go to bed early; govt issues night-time rules- By Aashish Aryan

n a desperate bid to make engineering students go to sleep early at night, the Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal on Saturday announced new rules to be implemented by all recognised engineering colleges in the country. The announcement came in the wake of the government’s worry that engineering students never go to sleep before 3am.

“The night is for sleeping,” asserted Mr. Sibal, “These students are disturbing the natural balance. Since they refuse to follow the early to bed, early to risemotto, we are forced to bring out such rules.” He blamed engineers for the single-digit growth rate of the country and denounced the fact that girls studying in engineering colleges are also following this sleep pattern.

The following are the rules established by Mr. Sibal, on the basis of the recommendation of the “Jaago India Jaago” committee.

1. All students who wish to pursue engineering must sign a bond which states that the signatory shall sleep by midnight, and wake up by 7:00 am. (The timing is relaxed by an hour for SC/ST students, while OBC students can wake up all night.) Failing to do so shall lead to detention upto 3 days or a fine of 500 rupees or both. Flying Squads shall conduct surprise raids in rooms to verify the state of the person inside it. (The minister said this will be very helpful in restricting the working hours of budding engineers by making them more disciplined.)

2. All the engineering colleges in the country (government and self-financed, both) must have snore-o-meters installed in all boys and girls hostels. The reading must not be below 80 decibels during the stipulated sleep time.

3. Games like Counter Strike, Need For Speed, Age Of Empires, etc will be banned at all levels. Jam-sessions on such games would also be illegal. (These shall, however, be allowed during technical fests of colleges.) Movie sessions at night will also be banned. (Students have grown so addicted to movies that they have started watching Tamil, Telugu, Korean, French movies with subtitles since Bollywood doesn’t churn out good movies.) External hard disks of students will be routinely examined by a gazetted government officer.

4. CDs of Lata Mangeshkar’s lullabies will be released for those who cannot sleep on time. Special marks will be given to those who play the CD to sleep.

5. Laptops and desktops intended for use by the students must have auto-shutdown by 11:45 pm and do-not power up before 7:00 am feature. The government shall hire the services of a major software company for the same. All phone calls which extend after 1:30 am will be tapped.

6. The Government, on account of its large-heartedness, keeping the happiness of the students in mind, shall make allowances for night long booze sessions on weekends. Birthday parties must have written permission from the nearest police station.

The minister made it very clear that since engineers are also future voters of the country, the government could not afford to antagonize them.

On being asked as to why only engineering students have been targeted by the government, Mr. Sibal said that the country is generating engineers on a large scale, but facing a dearth of doctors and other professionals. Hence these students have been exempted from this rule—the exemption would hopefully divert some population from engineering towards these streams.

The All India Engineers Forum and Engineer’s Society have condemned these rules. They have called for a nation wide “mass wake up” on a date yet to be scheduled.

India TV finally brakes an authentic news!

There is a havoc at all the major airports across India, as India TV’s Air India strike story has turned out to be 100% true. India TV (like most its stories) was the first TV news channel to report of the strike. Naturally, like any sane individual, both the general public and other media houses, considered the story of the strike to be yet another hoax by India TV. Who knew that one day they would report something which was in fact true. India TV is considered as the baap of all Satire News. India TV is generally watched by public for comedy/entertainment purposes, which is evident by the recent poll, where India TV overtook SAB TV and POGO as the best comedy channel.

As India TV aired the news of the strike by Air India’s pilots, the first reaction by the general public was appreciation of the new line comedy India TV has started. Mumbai resident, Suneeta Dvdromwala, was about to leave her house for the airport when she saw the news, and started laughing of the great timing of India TVs humor. Although she was shocked in her soul when she found out it was true. There were long lines of disappointed passengers found outside the IGI, New Delhi airport.

A general trend amongst other media houses is that once a competitor TV channel reports a news, they themselves send their own teams to the news spot. But, when India TV reported the story of the strike, their teams sat comfortably and laughed at the news. Although once the other media houses realized of the situation it was too late to repair the damage caused to the public.

Ok, I have a confession to make.

I have spent almost my whole life– 31 years– caring far too much about offending people, worrying if I’m cool enough for them, or asking myself if they are judging me.

I can’t take it anymore. It’s stupid, and it’s not good for my well being. It has made me a punching bag– a flighty, nervous wuss. But worse than that, it has made me someone who doesn’t take a stand for anything. It has made me someone who stood in the middle, far too often, and not where I cared to stand, for fear of alienating others. No more. Not today.

Today, ladies and gentlemen, is different.

We’re going to talk about the cure. We’re going to talk about what’s necessary. We’re going to talk about the truth.

Do you wonder if someone is talking shit about you? Whether your friends will approve? Have you become conflict-avoidant? Spineless?

Well, it’s time you started not giving a fuck.

FACT NUMBER 1. People are judging you right now.

Yes, it’s really happening right at this moment. Some people don’t like you, and guess what? There’s nothing you can do about it. No amount of coercion, toadying, or pandering to their interests will help. In fact, the opposite is often true; the more you stand for something, the more they respect you, whether it’s grudgingly or not.

What people truly respect is when you draw the line and say “you will go no further.” They may not like this behaviour, but so what? These are people don’t like you anyway, why should you attempt to please people who don’t care for you in the first place?

Right. Then, there’s Internet trolls. That’s a whole other thing.

Regular people are fine– you don’t actually hear it when they’re talking behind your back. But on the web, you do see it, which changes the dynamic drastically. They have an impact because they know you have your vanity searches, etc. But the real problem with Internet haters is that they confirm your paranoid delusion that everyone out there secretly hates you.

Thankfully, that’s not actually true. So the first noble truth is that most people don’t even care that you’re alive. Embrace this, my friends, for it is true freedom. The world is vast and you are small, and therefore you may do as you wish and cast your thoughts of those who dislike it to the side.

FACT NUMBER 2. You don’t need everyone to like you.

This stuff is crazy, I know, but it’s cool, you’ll get used to it. Here’s the next thing: not only do most people not know that you exist, and some are judging you, but it totally does not matter even if they are.

How liberating this is may not even hit you yet, but it will. Check this out: when people don’t like you, nothing actually happens. The world does not end. You don’t feel them breathing down your neck. In fact, the more you ignore them and just go about your business, the better off you are.

You know when they say “the best revenge is a life well lived”? Well, this is true, but it isn’t the whole truth. A life well lived is great, yes, but it cannot happen while you are sweating about who your detractors are and what they think. What you have to do, what you have no choice but to do, is accept it and move on.

So not giving a fuck is actually a necessary precedent to create a good life for yourself. It can’t happen without it. That’s why you have to begin today.

FACT NUMBER 3. It’s your people that matter.

Ok, so you’ve adjusted to the fact that most people in the world are barely aware of your existence, and you’re also conscious of the fact that those who don’t like you are in the obscenely small minority and don’t actually matter. Awesome. Next you need to realize that the people who do care about you, and no one else, are those you need to focus on.

Relationships are weird. Once we’re in one (with family, a spouse, whatever), we promptly begin to take the other person for granted and move on to impressing strangers instead– say, our boss. Then, once we’ve impressed our boss, we start taking him for granted too, and so on, in an endless cycle of apathy. It’s like we always prefer to impress and charm the new than to work on what we already have.

But these people– your champions– they understand your quest or your cause. They make you feel good when you’re around them, make you laugh or make you feel like you can just be yourself. They make you feel relaxed or at ease. You’ve shared things with them. They’re important. Focus on them instead.

FACT NUMBER 4. Those who don’t give a fuck change the world. The rest do not.

So I’m reading this horrible book right now by Stephen King called the Long Walk. It’s a contest where people walk without sleeping or resting, and if they do stop, they are killed. (That’s actually every Stephen King book– “there’s a clown, but it kills!” “There’s a car, but it kills!” etc.)

I suspect this book is a metaphor for war, but it also captures perseverance very well. What it takes to move past anything is to simply realize that your obstacle is unimportant, and that it can be dismissed. This is true whether you’re running a marathon or trying to get to Mars.

If you dismiss the things that do not matter; if you remove those things from your mind and focus on what must be done; if you understand that your time is limited and decide to work now; only then will you be able to get to the finish line. Otherwise, you will be dissuaded into living a life you aren’t interested in.

Side note: You need to handle failure and obscurity better. You may be in a tough place right now where you feel lonely or like a loser. No worries, we’ve all been there. But it’s time for you to realize how common these things are, and that they’re experienced by even the most successful and happiest people in the world. Those people get past them, and you will too.

The eye is watching

You want to know something? This actually has nothing to do with anyone else. It has everything to do with you.

I had a discussion with Jonathan Fields the other week that was about the use of swearing (and “true voice”) on blogs. I watched him on a Skype video as we did this, and I could actually pinpoint the moment where he was about to say “fuck” but almost stopped himself. It was amazing. So I called him out on it. “You felt it just now, didn’t you?”

Everyone has an internetal eye. It always watching. It has been slowly constructed by society at large and by your friends and family, and it checks you for unacceptable behaviour. If you have had it around for long enough, you actually start to believe that the eye is you, and that you’re “being reasonable” or some other rationalization.

But the eye isn’t you at all. It is a prison, and you have justified its existence by obeying it. It’s strong because you let it be strong.

But the secret, the part that’s amazing, is that it can’t do anything to stop you, even if it wanted to. It’s an eye. It can only watch. The rest of you is free to act as you wish.

How to get back your self-respect in five easy steps

STEP 1. Do things that you consider embarrassing.

My girlfriend and I have been breaking in Vibram Fivefingers in preparation for the massive walk we are doing. Have you ever seen these shoes? They’re amazing for you knees and give you no blisters, but they are the ugliest thing imaginable. Yesterday, I wore them with a sweet bowtie I put on for Easter. I looked like a crazy person.

As I said at the beginning of this post, I am deeply aware and can become quite upset by people’s judgment– I think a lot of people are, but don’t admit it. But as I walked by people in my techno-clown outfit, not a single person looked at me. Nobody cared, and it slowly dawned on me that even if people did look at me weird, they just walked by. Later, they would forget about me entirely.

You must try this. Find your internal filters and break them, one at a time. Notice how society, like an ocean, smoothes over the waves you make, until what you do gets eliminated, or becomes the status quo. Work with this.

STEP 2. Accept, or deal with, awkwardness.

It’s widely known that interviewers get their best material by being quiet and allowing silence to force words out of a politician or celebrity.

You may be uncomfortable with silence. I know I still am. But I have been working on it and have to say that it is a much more serene state to be in than trying to cover it up with random babbling just to fill up the air. This is one type of awkwardness, a kind that you should feel comfortable about and learn to live with.

Another kind of social awkwardness is this in-between space where you might have done something wrong or been wronged, but don’t say anything. I’ve been given a few harsh lessons in my time and come away realizing that the freedom that comes from talking about an uncomfortable truth is better than the comfort of avoiding that talk altogether.

Someone told me recently that the Clintons’ method for earning respect in politics is this: if someone pushes you, push back twice as hard. This is much better than awkwardness. It’s clear, it’s not passive aggressive, and you know where you stand. Start doing this immediately.

STEP 3. Refuse boundaries.

The video above was taken in 1970, right when the Front de Libération du Québec had killed Premier Pierre Laporte and put his body in the trunk of a car. Trudeau’s “Just watch me” is one of the most famous phrases in Canadian political history. The journalists are trying to trap him into choosing on-camera between a safety/police-state and civil liberties/freedom but Trudeau refuses their boxes.

The Liberal Party of Canada no longer has any balls, but for us, there’s still hope. Walk where you want to walk. Don’t accept false choices. Don’t let people dictate how you should live your life. Definitely don’t listen to the eye.

STEP 4. Tell the truth.

You don’t need to be an asshole, but the world does not need another conflict-avoidant, evasive person. No one wants another individual who steps in line with everyone else. The status quo is doing fine without you, so it’s up to you to call bullshit if you see it.

Don’t mind-read either. Telling the truth means seeing the truth, not adding your own layer of sugar coating or suspected emotion on top of it.

STEP 5. Begin your new life.

This step can’t happen without the others, but once you’ve gotten here, you can safely begin to explore a whole new world– one where anything you do is fine as long as it isn’t seriously hurting anyone else. Wanna explore old abandoned buildings? No problem, as long as you’re ready to live with the consequences. Feel like hanging from hooks or get whipped by a dominatrix? Go ahead, but be safe about it.

Once you begin on this path, you start to discover that practically everyone is capable of understanding the weird things that you do. In fact, it makes you interesting and worth paying attention to, further feeding into your plans of world domination, should you have any.

But none of this fun can happen without you recognizing, and walking past, the eye. Doing this is a powerful act of control which builds momentum and makes you strong.

Take back your self respect. Do it today– try it right now. Wear something ugly. Do something stupid. Tell someone the truth.

It doesn’t fucking matter.

RIP Typewriters!

Joining other discarded technologies of late, including the Flip video camera, Kodachrome, and the humble floppy disk is the typewriter, which will no longer be produced anywhere in the world.

The last company on earth to produce the typewriter — Godrej and Boyce — has shut down its production plant in Mumbai, India, according to reports that, fittingly, are making the rounds via the Internet.

The company’s general manager, Milind Dukle, told India’s Business Standard newspaper: “We are not getting many orders now.” Update: Gawker is reporting that there are still manufacturers in China, Japan and Indonesia making typewriters.

The announcement, if true, ends a long run for the device, which was once a mainstay of office life. The typewriter hit its peak of production in the 1950s when Smith-Corona sold 12 million of the machines in the last quarter of 1953. But, thanks to the encroachment of the personal computer, only about 400,000 typewriters had been sold annually by 2009.

Though most of the world had abandoned the use of typewriters of late, India proved to be the one of the last bastions of use for the technology until recently. Another niche market for typewriters is more fanciful: Despite their lack of functionality, typewriters are being fetishized, oddly enough, by young hipsters, who are drawn by the nostalgia and romantic image attached to the now-bygone technology.

Metallica will play in India around October 28-30, 2011. Now you can retract yours jaws to their original position, thank you. Who would have imagined that the biggest thrash metal band in the history of noise would decide a concert for India? Metallica’s low-ender Robert Trujillo revealed this to Inland Empire Weekly’s April edition (oh, this is the biggest new since Bon Jovi’s turning around and seeing something called India behind). This is what the Metallica Bassist told the weekly: "We are going to play India in October. That should be interesting; playing a place we never thought in our wildest dreams we'd [go] to play. It's an honor for all of us that we get to be a part of that whole music scene as a metal band sharing our music with fans in India at this incredible concert!"

The news appears consistent with rumors since November 2010 that Metallica would be playing in India as part of F1 Rocks, the music segment of the inaugural Formula 1 Indian Grand Prix scheduled for October 28-30, 2011 in Noida, UP, India.

Boy oh boy. This band elbowed me major time into playing the guitar and metal (as it did to billions of Nagas. 16 lakhs to be precise). The first ever Metallica song I listened to was ‘Nothing Else Matters’ when school was the universe. After it, no metal band that ever leapt and banged out its hair though the speakers impressed me enough. Let’s just, only, simply say that by the time I was in college, I could play every single slab of Metallica, every song, every single guitar passage from any of their nine albums – mom could not afford me a drum set. (By the way, do you know, Metallica has about 28 albums, actually. EPs, cover albums, live albums etc) Can you believe it? Metallica’s India Concert 2011 would be injecting greater interest in proper Metal music in India. Just watch and see.

Bhat (but) sadly I will have to say that 'yew' should go n take some english lessons bicoz diz iz not english by any standard. I am for once, including the SMS language as English because people this isn't English. The early you understand that the better it will be for yew! Here are a few examples I am going to prove that this isn't English!

1. EM- This isn't I'm or I am from any stretch of the imagination. EM is Engineering Mechanics is all that I know and how I wish it was I'm rather than Engineering Mechanics! Wouldn't have to bare the pain I had in the first semester!

2. Don- This is not "don't". According to me Don is either a mafia or the two bollywood movies that I have watched!

3. Smol- This is small. My only reaction to that word being equivalent to small would be LOL! Looks like the ones using these words love rolling their tongue!

4. Vie- Very. ROTFLMAO Seriously? WTF!

5. Comes the best of the lot! Mah- My. I did know that SMS language is used to shorten the length of the words but WTF you chaps have increased a letter in the word to make it sound cool? Okay writing that Mah is cool is the most uncool thing I have ever written!

6. Ew- This become you! Last time I checked 'ew' was a word in a girl's lingo dictionary which meant bad!

7. Ua- Oh that's bullshit now! This is your ladies and gentlemen! Either the one who created this language which most definitely is not english, is a two year old who has a problem in completing the words and leaves them in the middle!

8. Ova- Over!

Hence the rape is complete!

Okay I know these days I have been copying a lot of stuff from the internet but I just can't help it. There are hilarious things all over the internet and worth sharing too so here I am sharing with you yet another post which originally is from funcage.com

Lesson 1: Naked Wife

A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs. A fox jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very high up.

Lesson 5: Power of Charisma

A turkey was chatting with a bull “I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree,” sighed the turkey, but I haven’t got the energy.” “Well, why don’t you nibble on my droppings?” replied the bull. “They’re packed with nutrients.” The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fourth night, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon he was spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.

Moral of the story: Bullshit might get you to the top, but it wont keep you there.

Lesson 6

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Moral of the story:

1. Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy

2. Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend

3. And when you’re in deep shit, it’s best to keep your mouth shut!

It's All About The Perception!

How you end up being depends on your outlook towards things and situations! You end up either being an optimist or a pessimist and you end up in one of those categories as per your perception! If you have a positive perception, you are an optimist but you have a negative perception towards everything then you are a pessimist!
Say for example that song which everyone lovingly hates these days! Yes I am talking about Rebecca Black- Friday (Even though I love to call that song, Rebecca- Black Friday! because that's what describes the song best!)
Here is the song for you if you haven't heard it as yet! (I am sure you too are going to hate it in a couple of minutes if you don't!)

We all hate the lyrics of the song don't we! That's our negative perception towards the song! True?

But here comes the positive optimistic outlook towards the lyrics of the song!

Now how about that for the usage of lyrics!
This just goes to show how a dud song can be converted into a dude song!

PS I had no intentions of explaining you any sort of perception! The only intention I had over here was ridiculing the song even more :P Cheers!

Well this post is somewhat personal kind of stuff. It's about my experiences in the first year of engineering. I still remember the very first time I told myself that YES!!! I am going to be an engineer and since then it was my passion to do engineering in some esteemed college like IIT, NIT. But there is something called destiny which can turn you UPSIDE DOWN and in my case it was true. Finally I took admission in AMITY UNIVERSITY so that I can pursue my dream.
I remember the first day of my class. "WE" were complete strangers to each other and there was no one familiar. Day ONE for me was rather boring and exhausting as we were briefed about the university rules and regulations. And this continued for about three days indeed !!!!
Well finally our classes began. Some subjects were boring, some were exciting and for some we didn't have any clue whatsoever(ENGINEERING MECHANICS!!). Teacher were SMART(HDS), sexy (B.S!!!) but all in all we were given a full dose of lectures and classes. Same is the case with the second semester but teachers were bit lenient this time, up to some extent.
During this whole one year I feel I have matured not physically but emotionally and mentally. I, never in my life had thought that I would be going through so many tense situations, EXTREME HAPPY MOMENTS, but I did.
Talking about friends I first met ANUBHAV (TOPPER STUFF!!!) then eventually our friend circle grew and we formed an ORGANIZATION named KKK(KHATRO KE KHILADI) (FUNNY INDEED). Some friends were helpful, some were CRY BABIES, some are extremely irritating and some are caring. But as they say VARIETY is the SPICE OF LIFE. And YES!! I did enjoy a lot. Well now my second semester paper have started and I am sure all of my friends(including me!!!) are going to do well in this one. Because we believe in NO STUDY, NO TENSION, NO PROBLEM. Once again thanks to all of my friends and VERY CLOSE FRIENDS to name some

From strangers to being close friends.....to being strangers. Again!

The topic of this post is one thing that I am sure almost everyone who may or may not read this post has gone through in his or her life!

It's a fact of life and everyone faces it over and over again. Here are the various situations when one goes through the whole process of being from close friends to being strangers, again!

1. Moving from one place to another, shifting homes or shifting cities.

2. Transition from school to college or from school to school!

So today is that day when I remember all my friends, close friends, dear friends, I have lost on the way.

I remember that friend in my kinder garden class who told the teacher that I wasn't able to see the board clearly and eventually led me to wearing spectacles at as small an age.

I remember that friend with whom I used to spend my whole day, playing cricket to every indoor and outdoor game and seldom ending up fighting yet the next morning finding him or myself at one of our houses repeating the whole process again

That friend who was a neighbor and my kite flying buddy for years but was lost on the way, his destiny being in the way.

I remember that friend who was my seat partner for three consecutive years yet a minor set back in his exam result and a major flaw in the education system made him go away.

I remember that friend who was my ultimate sports competition at school yet one of the best buddies. Again, the education system making him go away.

I remember that pool of my neighbors with whom I had a wonderful youth.

I remember that friend who was my first crush. It was more of an eye thing rather than a heart thing.

I remember that friend who was as silent as I usually am yet the only one who understood silence.

I remember that friend who was the first one I met in my new school and was the reason I was able to survive through my senior secondary.

I remember that friend who was the first one I saw in my first bus trip to my new school and wished to talk to. It was a confusing feeling with her though! It was not an eye thing, may be a heart thing but still always don't work out.

I remember that friend who was the nerd yet humble whenever he spoke.

I remember that whole batch with whom I spent eleven years of my schooling and the chosen few with whom I elected to spend the remaining two.

Soon, it will be time I will be remembering my friends at college, as a good memory or a bad memory remains to be seen.

There is this thing about memories, no matter good or bad, every time you remember a something about it surely brings a smile to your face!

It's the day I remembered the friends I have lost on the way and it's that feeling where I have smile across my face yet my eyes are filled with tears remembering the ones I have lost and on the thought that I soon might loose some more.

It's time you too remember the ones you have lost. It's time you too remember what they did and cry with a smile on your face!

The sad news that came in this morning was that Sidney Lumet, the legendary director of 12 Angry Men & Dog Day Afternoon, has died at the age of 86.
