When it comes to an updo, I think simplicity is key with a bohemian bride. I love this very basic braid paired with a really pretty flower crown. This bride keeps the makeup really minimal which shows off her natural glow on her big day! With a boho bride, I think its best to be simple but really wow with the small touches that you may add, for example the flower crown on this bride. When it comes to the dress, you obviously want to wow but without being too over the top and I think this dress does just that thing. This dress is from Thread and I love the ruffled skirt, its just the right amount of ruffle in my book and I think the texture has real bohemian feel to it. This dress is kind of what I would call a “two-fer” where you get 2 dresses for the price of one because the bottom skirt comes off and you have a cute short dress underneath so you could take the skirt off for a night of dancing and still look just as great! Something that every bride needs is a great pair of shoes and chunky platform heels are totally in right now and they are  in every boho fashionista’s closet. While these shoes may be sky-high they add a bit of comfort with the extra platform, I know that sounds crazy but its totally true. With every boho bride comes a very fabulous boho bouquet. Since the dress and jewelry is usually so simplistic, I think a very intricate bouquet is definitely a wow factor for the bohemian bride. The flowers look very organic with a touch of vintage elegance. I love the lace ribbon that holds the bouquet together, it looks very bohemian but you use some vintage fabric that may be significant to you and your family to add that same touch of class but still have a boho flair. I am designing my sister’s invitations myself but I looked to Etsy for some inspiration and I loved how cute these invitations were! Since my sister is turning 11 she doesn’t want the invitations to be too childish but I think for a younger girl these would be so perfect! There are so many cute food ideas for water parties but I came across these and saw how simple and yet so adorable that I knew we had to make these for my sister’s party. All you need is a pack of Nutter Butter cookies,some icing and flower sprinkles and you can make these flip flop cookies. Perfect for water wars and perfect for celebrating summer. It wouldn’t be a party at my house without some type of DIY. These sponge splash balls are a summer staple with my family. We make them at the beginning of the summer to take to the pool or just to throw around in the backyard. All you do is cut up the sponges into strips and tie with some yarn. It is a super fun and super easy DIY. For the party we are just going to have a splash ball fight and throw them around the yard. Other games we are going to play are: balance the cup of water, water balloon relays and of course the dunk tank!  The kids can also take these sponge balls home as party favors at the end of the day. Kids love tattoos and did you know you can buy temporary tattoo paper and print out your own customized temporary tattoos?  That is what we are doing for my sister’s party! We are going to make some personalized tats to have at the party designed with water guns and my sister’s name. This will be one idea that the kids won’t stop talking about! How cute are these invitations? I think the color scheme for an art party should be really colorful and of course your primary colors are the best for making things “pop.” I love the paint dripping at the top, it looks so real and so fun. Being the font nerd that I am, I am loving these two fonts a mix of script with a simple block serif. It would be really cute to get envelopes of all different colors to mail out the invitations, sort of like a rainbow of envelopes! One thing I remember thinking was so cute at the art party I helped out was, these cute cake balls put on artist palettes. All you need are some cardboard artist palettes that you can find at the craft store for not that much money and then you make your cake balls in all different colors then place them on the palette. There are so many fun food ideas when it comes to hosting an art party that I couldn’t just share one! These painter’s brush rice krispies will be a smashing masterpiece amongst your guests. You can buy rice krispies already made and simply dip them into different colored icing and then put them on a stick or make rice krispies homemade and do the same. It wouldn’t be an art party without creating some art right? I love this idea of getting large canvasses and laying them out in the yard so each child can create their own masterpiece. Canvas can be a little expensive so unless you hit it when they are having a sale, it may be a little unaffordable to purchase large canvasses. Luckily there are all types of sizes and the smaller ones can be much more affordable. Just set them up on a table outside and have the kids go to town on their own paintings. Another great idea would be to get a large  roll of butcher paper and hang it up across a fence and have the kids kind of create a mural of their different artwork, it would be a great keepsake to have to remember the party! How fun is this?  For a wedding reception or another party consider having a trail mix bar!  Lay out your favorite granolas as a base and then all your favorite trail mix toppings. Can you give us an overview of the event? The wedding and reception took place at The Grand Atrium at 200 Peachtree, the former location of Davidson’s department store, and subsequently Macy’s. An elegant and lofty space, the venue’s marble floors and grand chandeliers were accented beautifully by decor in coral, gold and champagne.

What were your playful twists that made your event unique? As a personal touch, there were excerpts from various letters Fanta and Ian had written one another over the years displayed in the venue, a subtle nod to the fact that much of their relationship after college had been spent in separate cities. There were periods of time while Ian was in law school and Fanta was in medical school that those written correspondences were the only thing that they had to sustain them. They served as a testament to the immense reward reaped from abiding in love, despite adversity.

Tell us about the food and desserts! The dinner, catered by Black Tie Atlanta, was absolutely delicious and began with a mixed greens salad with peaches, feta cheese, onions, and berry vinaigrette, followed by an entree of bone-In Braised Short Rib or Smoked Salmon served with roasted red potatoes seasoned with rosemary and fresh parmesan, and grilled asparagus. The wedding cake, designed by Couture Cakes, featured buttercream icing and red velvet, vanilla and chocolate cake layers.

Tell us how you met! Fanta and Ian met during their sophomore year at Spelman College and Morehouse College, respectively, at a weekly block party on Spelman College’s campus. Although Fanta was in a relationship at the time, the two took note of one another during that first meeting. Due to mutual friends, the two of them began to run into one another at various social gatherings and events and a friendship ensued. During their senior year, when they returned to their campuses after summer break, they realized that they were ready to be more than just friends and soon began a romantic relationship

Now for the proposal…details! After disguising a vacation to Napa Valley as a joint 30th birthday trip, Ian took Fanta on a surprise private tour of several vineyards. At the last stop on their tour, atop Springer Mountain which overlooked the valley, Ian gave Fanta a gift he made especially for her – a personal rendition of the popular “Five Love Languages” book, which she had been urging him to read. His book included five separate pages of events, activities and snippets of intimate phrases they had shared throughout their relationship that exemplied each of the five love languages- Acts of Service, Physical Touch, Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, and Gifts. Fanta read through each page and when she got to the the last love language, “Gifts”, Ian presented her with a wonderful gift- a proposal to spend the rest of their lives together.

What is the best advice you received? The best wedding advice we received was to always put one another first and to always laugh together.

Tell us about your wedding dress, and what your wedding party wore. The wedding gown was designed by Modern Trousseau and was an ivory, strapless dress that featured a sweet-heart neckline and a fit and flare silhouette. The upper portion of the dress was silk ruching and the bottom of the dress was a soft cascade of laser-cut silk organza layers. The wedding party wore long A-line gowns by Ava Collection by Mori Lee in a coffee color.

What were the honeymoon plans? Ian planned the entire honeymoon and kept it as a surprise for Fanta. They vacationed in the beautiful Zijuatanejo/Ixtapa, Mexico.

This is a perfect example of balloons erring on the side of chic rather than their usual playful. Four over-sized white balloons make a fantastic backdrop for an all-white dessert table, and this monochromatic concept could easily be carried into other colors.
