Occupy Monday Holidays

2013-09-02T10:08:00.000-07:00

Labor Day was the first Monday holiday in the United States.....
and one of the few designed to fall on a Monday from the,
git go.
The Uniform Monday Holiday Act, which took effect on January 1, 1971.....
created three-day weekends for federal employees......
by making Memorial Day,
Washington’s Birthday, Columbus Day and Veterans Day....
Monday holidays.

The observance of Veterans Day was, at a later date, changed back to November 11th.....
by an act of Congress.

When Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was created, it was also designated as a.....
Monday holiday.

The War You Don’t See is a powerful and timely investigation into the media’s role in war, tracing the history of......embedded and independent reporting from the carnage of WWI to the destruction of Hiroshima. Even in today's time, with the invasion of Vietnam.... to the current war in Afghanistan and the disaster in Iraq. As weapons and propaganda become even more sophisticated, the nature of war is developing into an.....electronic battlefield in which journalists play a key role, and civilians are the victims. The Occupy Movement continues to grow.....

It has now spread across the world, motivating thousands to voice their anger at financial and social inequality. The Occupy World Movement...... is merging with existing anti-government protests, across the globe.

“Civil disobedience is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience. Our problem is that people all over the world have obeyed the dictates of leaders…and millions have been killed because of this obedience…Our problem is that people are obedient all over the world in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty. Our problem is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves… (and) the grand thieves are running the country. That’s our problem.” - Howard Zinn

BEN AND JERRY ACTIVISTS

Occupy Wall Street is a leaderless resistance movement with people of many colors, genders and political persuasions. The one thing we all have in common is that We Are The 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%. We are using the revolutionary Arab Spring tactic to achieve our ends and encourage the use of nonviolence to maximize the safety of all participants. the only solution is World Revolution...........

It’s time for the American people to send a message to Congress. Ordinary citizens are not being represented by their elected leaders.
On Jan 17th 2012, thousands of Americans will arrive in Washington DC and Occupy Congress.
We have no affiliation with any Political Party, Union or Political Organization.
We are individuals organizing ourselves to send a strong message to our elected leaders…
”We have had it with your inability to govern and we are coming to confront you, in person!” Peacefully.

We are coming because of the corruption.

We are coming because of the bribery.

We are coming to remind congress that they work for the people.

This great book should really be read by everyone.

It is difficult to describe why it so great because it both teaches and inspires. You really just have to read it. We think it is so good that it demands to be as accessible as possible. Once you've finished it, we're sure you'll agree.....

A must read! A Free Copy for us to read! Things must change!
We must Occupy our future, with the wisdom, of the past.
History, I mean true history, is the great teacher.
Chapter #18 ..........was an eye opener for for me.
I was there,I was young.
I am proud, but not as loud.
I look about and see,
where we have to be.

Chapter 4 of Howard Zinn's book... brings to light a new way to look at 1776... and the next 200 years or so. Here is the opening paragraph.... Around 1776, certain important people in the English colonies made a discovery that would prove enormously useful for the next two hundred years. They found that by creating a nation, a symbol, a legal unity called the United States, they could take over land, profits, and political power from favorites of the British Empire. In the process, they could hold back a number of potential rebellions and create a consensus of popular support for the rule of a new, privileged leadership. HOWARD ZINN.ORG The People Speak

London Occupy Ousted

Flash: Police evict London Occupy Protesters from their camp in front of the ST.Paul's Cathedral early Tuesday morning. 20 were arrested and their tents and camping equipment were destroyed. They just gathered all the tents and camping equipment... tossed them into
huge trash containers, and crushed everything.

"It's only tents and materials the injunction applies to, so I think some protesters will be back here tomorrow." Gary Sherborne told The Associated Press.

The urban camp had been set up as part of an international movement inspired by the U.S. Occupy Wall Street against what the activists say is corporate greed and economic inequality.
Protesters had been camped outside the 300-year-old church since October.

The video below was uploaded in October of last year. When I saw it I was the 705th to view it. This was the first I heard of the London Occupy Movement slash Peaceful Protest.
How about you?

How Bloomberg and Kelly’s aggressive crackdown at Zuccotti Park will backfire - NY Daily News

I came across this and thought I would share it. From November 16,2011....
Harry Siegel writes on the opinion page of the New York Daily News that....

All told, the police response was as aggressive and disproportionate as any I’ve seen in New York since the 2004 Republican National Convention (a policing disaster the city is still hashing out in court and paying out in settlements). Whether or not one believes the First Amendment includes the right to a tent city with generators in a privately owned public park, the NYPD’s posture was difficult to justify. Occupy Together

2012-01-21T11:08:00.000-08:00

Together We Find Peace....
We will advance together....
We will stand together....
Together we can do it....We the people

The founding fathers of this country sat and pondered much about basic human rights and freedoms. Great men that took ink and a feather and put it to parchment for the world to see. We must use the wisdom of the past to guide us here in the future.

These times shall go down in history. His story?
As sure as these keys I press...these times will make a difference.
Occupy where ever you wish....
Occupy where ever you want....
The time has arrived for us all to Occupy

Benjamin Franklin once wrote.....
All mankind is divided into three classes: those that are immovable, those that are movable, and those that move.

NOW
Something has to give....
Something has to live....
Time to move the unmovable....
NOW

The people have taken to the streets...God Bless and Keep those that Occupy
from harms way...as peaceful change engulfs mother earth.

Then and Now

2012-01-19T10:45:00.000-08:00

The development of capitalism is marked, every thirty or forty years, by the eruption of extended economic crises that restructure the entire system in organizational, technological, financial and geopolitical terms, while also affecting daily life and commonly held values and attitudes. In the course of these crises, conditions of exploitation and domination are challenged by grassroots and anti-systemic movements, with major opportunities for positive change. However, each historical crisis has also elicited an elite response, stabilizing the worldwide capitalist system on the basis of a new integration/repression of a broad range classes, interest groups, genders and minority populations (whose definition, composition and character also change with the times). In the United States, because of its leading position within twentieth-century capitalism, the domestic resolution of each of the previous two crises has helped to restructure not only national social relations, but also the international political-economic order. And each time, progressive demands that emerged from the crisis period have been transformed into ideologies covering a new structure of inequality and oppression. By examining the crises of the 1930s and the 1970s along with the top-down responses and the resulting hegemonic compromises, we will cut through the inherited ideological confusions, gain insight into our own positions within neoliberal society, identify the elite projects on the horizon and begin to formulate our own possible agency during the upcoming period of instability and chaos.

The above is an Brian Holmes concept.

Right Here All Over (Occupy Wall St.) from Alex Mallis on Vimeo.

Where did this all start? What is the protesting all about?

Look to history for the answers.

Since our nation's inception in 1776 .... cold, cunning conspirators have sought to undermine our political sovereignty for their own personal profit.
Behind a facade of corporate and congressional respectability, a cabal of ruthless men use extortion and murder to steal our nation's wealth and turn the United States into a fascist war-machine that inexorably threatens the entire world.
